I wanted to take the time to leave a review for COPPERSTATE Alternator. However, I believe a little background is required. First of all, I'm an OLD guy, quite old by most standards. I grew up in a rural farm area and from a very early age I learned to fix things, especially vehicles and equipment. We didn't have the luxury of taking our cars, trucks and tractors to the corner repair shop to be repaired.
Fast forward to sixty years later. I drive a 2005 Toyota 4Runner that is 19 years old and looks and runs like new. I purchased an alternator from Copperstate Alternator in 2020 after the original alternator gave out after 15 years, you gotta love Toyota. I opted to purchase the lifetime warranty offered by Copperstate and was glad I did. Four years later (2024), the alternator began acting up. As stated earlier I am very mechanical, I drive two older Jaguars and the 4Runner. No repair shop or mechanic has touched any of my vehicles in the last 20 years.
You're probably asking yourself, why is he telling all this stuff? The point is when the alternator began acting up, I did significant testing to insure it was in fact the alternator and the thing that made it difficult to diagnose is that the problem was intermittent, the alternator would run perfectly within specifications for a while, then it would either over charge or under charge and you never knew when it was going to be a problem.
When I contacted Copperstate, I talked with Dan, the same person who sold me the alternator four years prior and that says a lot for the company. Dan suggested I remove the alternator and bring it in for testing which I did. Now here's where in gets interesting, the alternator tested PERFECT. Now most companies at this point would simply blow you off as not knowing what you were talking about, given it tested perfect, give it back to you and tell you to be on your way. But not Dan, because I explained the testing I had done, and the fact that the problem was intermittent he gave me the benefit of the doubt and replaced the alternator.
Now that folks is true customer service and I'll tell you why. You see, I know for a fact in my mind, that Dan believes the alternator is good, while at the same time, I know the alternator is bad, but Dan was more concerned with customer satisfaction than being right. Copperstate is lucky to have Dan as an employee. read more
