I love working on cars. Do I know how to work on cars? Absolutely effing not. But I've watched…read moreenough people do it over the years to occasionally look at my vehicle and think, I could effing do that. This week I decided I'm apparently a Woman Who Maintains Her Own Vehicle™. Fluids, filters, oil change, windshield wipers...the works. The staff here were incredibly helpful double-checking all the parts I'd researched and making sure I wasn't confidently purchasing the wrong stuff. Then came the windshield wipers. After watching videos, reading instructions, and spending an embarrassing amount of time fighting with one stupid blade, I had a blanket draped across my windshield because the internet convinced me I was one wrong move away from shattering the glass. Something snapped off. The "depression tab" wasn't depressing. Neither was I.... yet. Finally, I gave up and came back for help. The woman working came outside with me. I handed her my protective windshield blanket. She looked at me like I'd handed her a live raccoon. "You don't need that." Turns out, THERE WAS NO DEPRESSION TAB. It was a slide-down mechanism. Five seconds. She replaced both blades in FIVE SECONDS. I had spent hours researching, struggling, questioning my intelligence, and reconsidering vehicle ownership entirely. She handled it like she was brushing a crumb off the counter. She even told me to come back if I had questions. Ma'am. You should not have said that. You're around the corner, I have projects planned, and next up is my own oil change. So there is an excellent chance I'll be back holding a mysterious bolt asking, "Is this important?" Phenomenal service. Thank you, Queen.

When I tried to return it because it turned out I do not need it since I found the leak they accused me of using it and trying to return it. I spend hundreds of dollars at this store but not now. I will also be writing to their corporate office and letting them know this location is selling partially used cans of refrigerant.

Copperstate Alternator Exchange

I wanted to take the time to leave a review for COPPERSTATE Alternator. However, I believe a little…read morebackground is required. First of all, I'm an OLD guy, quite old by most standards. I grew up in a rural farm area and from a very early age I learned to fix things, especially vehicles and equipment. We didn't have the luxury of taking our cars, trucks and tractors to the corner repair shop to be repaired. Fast forward to sixty years later. I drive a 2005 Toyota 4Runner that is 19 years old and looks and runs like new. I purchased an alternator from Copperstate Alternator in 2020 after the original alternator gave out after 15 years, you gotta love Toyota. I opted to purchase the lifetime warranty offered by Copperstate and was glad I did. Four years later (2024), the alternator began acting up. As stated earlier I am very mechanical, I drive two older Jaguars and the 4Runner. No repair shop or mechanic has touched any of my vehicles in the last 20 years. You're probably asking yourself, why is he telling all this stuff? The point is when the alternator began acting up, I did significant testing to insure it was in fact the alternator and the thing that made it difficult to diagnose is that the problem was intermittent, the alternator would run perfectly within specifications for a while, then it would either over charge or under charge and you never knew when it was going to be a problem. When I contacted Copperstate, I talked with Dan, the same person who sold me the alternator four years prior and that says a lot for the company. Dan suggested I remove the alternator and bring it in for testing which I did. Now here's where in gets interesting, the alternator tested PERFECT. Now most companies at this point would simply blow you off as not knowing what you were talking about, given it tested perfect, give it back to you and tell you to be on your way. But not Dan, because I explained the testing I had done, and the fact that the problem was intermittent he gave me the benefit of the doubt and replaced the alternator. Now that folks is true customer service and I'll tell you why. You see, I know for a fact in my mind, that Dan believes the alternator is good, while at the same time, I know the alternator is bad, but Dan was more concerned with customer satisfaction than being right. Copperstate is lucky to have Dan as an employee.

All the local mechanics know about this place, and if you own a car, ESPECIALLY an older model car,…read moreyou NEED to know about this place too. Penny Pincher has saved us not one, not two, but at least THREE times or more, when one of our cars broke down and we needed a part that all of the regular retail chain auto parts stores said had to be "special ordered". Penny Pincher always has the parts we need in stock and always at a much lower price than those chain auto parts stores quote. Need an example? Two days ago, our older Honda Civic blew a wheel bearing while driving on the 101. None of the chain retail auto supply stores had it in stock, but told us they could special order it for $15 and that it would take days to get it. Penny Pincher had it IN STOCK for $3. A day later, we were back on the road! Thank you Penny Pincher! Lots of professional and DIY mechanics come here, so the place is always very busy. Customer service can be great or bad, depending on who you get, but out of the many times that I've dealt with PP, only once did I deal with a rude employee (he was disciplined by the manager later) and the other time, they gave me the wrong part and although they fixed their mixup without complaint, it was annoying to have to wait in that long line, so make sure you have the right part before you leave the store!

Prices....especially since auto zone and O'Reilly are 80% remanufactured parts too. Why pay more?read more
