I stopped in for lunch with my teen granddaughter. She had noticed the sign out front that it was voted #1 in Greer. To us it was unbelievable that this was voted #1. We used to love going to this place, but over the last 6 months we've seen a drop in service and food. The last 5 times we have been given consistent excuses for having room temp meals, and waiting over an hour for our appetizers. These aren't even at peek times. Today we thought we'd give it one more shot and I got my coffee.... not even warm. I asked for more coffee, and I was given the excuse that they could "try" to get me more but it'd probably be just as cold. 2/26/2017 Our family of 3 waited about 20 minutes for a table. No problem, it is Sunday. Unfortunately, after ordering 3 simple meals, 1 hour and 20 minutes later we do not have our meal. My husband and grandson got their salads in a reasonable time, but our meal never came. After 45 minutes we told our server we really needed our food, as I was hosting a shower and needed to eat quickly. My husband finally went back to the cooking area and asked how much we owed for our drinks and the server just said, don't worry about it. No let me get our manager - NOTHING - REALLY? Everyone around us except one couple sitting at the bar (they had arrived AFTER us) got their food. The couple at the bar complained and their food was immediately brought out. Very bad experience! Copper River salads never fail because of the house dressing! Yum!!! The experience always varies however due to when you go and who your server is. Most of the time the service is good but you never know which will be a mediocre visit where service is slow or the order is wrong. We like the food here. The beer selection isn't very good for the area, but it's bearable. Today our food took forever and the cons are starting to outweigh the pros. What always gets us, and not is a good way: the service! We have learned to sit at the bar, as the table service is consistently awful. However, even the bar service is spotty. It's not necessarily the bartenders fault. Today we noticed the bartender spent 90% of the time with her back to the bar customers. The booze, beer taps, and beer bottles are all on the back wall. The phone that she has to answer for carry out orders is on the back wall. The carry out orders are stashed on the back wall. The area where people stand to pickup carry out orders (which is the bartenders' responsibility) puts her back to the bar customer. The registers... Literally everything she does except take orders from the bar customer puts her back to her customers! This means that we often found ourselves trying to flag her down and snag a moment of her attention for any service. Not her fault, but terrible service nonetheless. We may not be back. read more

Our server was nowhere to be found after being seated. Another table was seated 15 minutes after us, had their drinks and was giving their order when we were finally asked for our drink order. When the food came it was subpar. Medium steak was rare and overly tough. Loaded baked potato had butter, some cheese, a dollop of sour cream about the size of a nickel, three pieces of chopped green onion and about the same amount of bacon. Very disappointed. My family went there a couple of days ago to have some dinner. We wanted to order off of the kids menu of our 3 kids. Had to scan a QR code to get that menu. Ok I'm fine with that, no problem. Talking to the serve she informs us that the menu has changed. Now there are only 3 items available. There used to be at least 6. Only one comes with a side order of fries, oh but don't worry of you want to add at side or salad it'll cost $6.00. Before they decided to change the menu you could pick from any of the sides they offered on the full menu. That was included in the price as well. Another shock drinks are no longer included in the price of the meal. So you could pay at least $14.00 for a kids meal. Also raised the prices on many other items. I get it there's a huge inflation but the change was too drastic. I'm sure that management doesn't care but me and my family will not loner be dining here. Worst service ever, last 4 times I've been there it was awful, raw hamburger meat ground up instead of a steak, over an hour wait time, prime rib aujus was only grease and I didn't even get an apology they literally told me it was late and they scraped the last of it and mixed it with grease. Copper River is a great restaurant on all points. I have been to several of their locations, and each one provides superior food and service. The prices are very reasonable, and I never feel like I am eating pre-packaged or frozen food. I also learned that none of their products contain MSG, which is important to me since I suffer from migraines. I usually avoid chain restaurants, but Copper River is definitely the exception. My kids are ages 3, 4, and 9; and they love it too. We often use the 'Call-Ahead' seating so that we don't have to wait. My husband loves the NY Strip, and my favorite is the Shrimp Po Boy. The new pasta salad is so good and is a refreshing change from french fries. We frequent the Greer location and have had the same waitress a few times, and now she even remembers our drink orders along with the kids' favorite picks. (BTW, they usually order juice or milk, and their drinks are always free with the kids meals. We have tons of those little to-go cups at our house! I think the reviewer below must be thinking of another restaurant.) read more

The family and I went here on Friday night. They don"t take reservations but the cool thing is that you can call ahead when you are on your way and get your name on the list (Dad did it and there was no wait)! YAY for short waits! The restaurant is big and has a super high ceiling so it can get loud in there, but not as noisy as the Greenville one according to my Dad. You should listen to him, he knows a lot. BIG SAVER! My Dad ordered a couple of bottle beers at the bar for our 1 minute wait. Yep, Dad needs his brew. Well, he learned that the draft beers are always super cheap at 1.50 for a 16 ounce pour vs 3+ for a bottle. Savings like that are note worthy! For dinner we ordered different stuff: Tuna sandwich for Mom, stuffed flounder for Dad, and I got the friend shrimp. Mom pulled her tuna off the bun because "Its a shame to smother such a nice piece of tuna with bread". Dad cleaned his plate in no time because it was so good! I had the fried shrimp which boasted 12 shrimp. It sure looked like more because they ARE big yummy shrimp! I counted to make sure it wasn't 14 or something. My entree came with a salad but I don;t know how i could fit one in my stomach with my loaded mashed potatoes and shrimp. Luckily Mom ate it for me. We arranged this in advance. Basically you get a LOT of food. The salads are huge! Portions are grand! Our server was Red. You should ask for him. Not only is his name easy to remember, but he did a great job! Good personality and not too bothersome but quick on the refills and invisible plate clearing. The manager stopped by a few times and literally charmed the pants off us! (It got embarrassing explaining why my parents were dressed like lady gaga.) Seriously, he had good suggestions for next time based on what we ordered, he was very friendly but not intrusive or annoying. I can;t give it 5 stars for some unknown reason. Maybe its because I'm usually anti-chain restaurant? Is it the black toilets (hate 'em)? I don't know but I just can't do it. Maybe a monster dessert would have swayed the vote but I was too full. Don't bother. This is the 2nd time I have been here and it was worst than the first. I found the food to be flavorless and overcooked as well as dripping with oil and grease. This place has went WAY downhill. We used to eat here quite frequently before taking a break for a few months. We recently returned and boy, was it a different experience. We were seated next to the kitchen, and it was so dirty that it was extremely offputting. The floors were filthy and not once in the entire time we were there did anyone stop to clean up. Not only was there food, water bottles, and other unidentified things on the floor, but it looked in some places as though the mess was caked on and hadn't been cleaned in a while. That should have been a clear sign for us to leave, but we foolishly stayed. My husband ordered a steak (now note, their sirloin steak is close to $20) and when it came out, it was completely charred black. My husband's a good sport and said, I'll cut into it and see if it's okay, maybe it's just the outside. Nope. His "medium" steak was completely gray inside -- the most well-done steak I've ever seen. Of course, we sent it back. I have no idea why it would have even been brought to him in the first place. It honestly looked like a piece of charcoal. The second steak came out and it looked slightly better on the outside. However, when he started eating, it was full of fat, very chewy, and not very tasty. You would expect more given the cost of the steak. It's also important to note that by the time the second steak came out, the rest of the table was almost finished. I ordered the chicken tenders and they had an odd taste. Their tenders, which I've ordered many times before, used to be delicious. These were very bland and quite rubbery, almost as if they had been reheated in a microwave. I was starving and did not want to wait on more, so I ate a couple drowned in honey mustard. Two of my children also ordered the tenders and had similar complaints about theirs. The baked potato was good, but really, who messes up a potato? I was a little disappointed that we didn't receive at least a couple dollars off of our meal for the burnt steak when we received the check. No, I'm not looking for a free meal, but because my husband had to wait for over 30 minutes total and an additional 15 mins. after the rest of the family ate, getting a few dollars taken off or having his sweet tea comped would have been nice. Instead, our bill was close to 80 dollars -- full price -- for sub-par food. We'll definitely be taking an extended break from Copper River. Not sure if they have a new cook, management, or both, but to pay that much for a family of five, I would expect food that would be more edible. read more

This restaurant has lot's of potential but the menu while tasty is unimaginative. I've dined here a few times and usually the service and staff are rather efficient and pleasant. One big turnoff is that the chefs or managers loudly calling out orders and directions in the kitchen area are disruptive to what could be a pleasant dining environment. Try and get a seat on the far end of the restaurant. Otherwise its an okay place to catch a bite and the prices are pretty decent too. read more

The food here is pretty decent for a chain restaurant, and since it's a walk away from home it goes at the top for convenience of location. The low rating is due to the lack of quality of the service. I have never been here (even occasionally by myself) where I have been able to get my food in under half an hour. Good place. Great architecture. Went with my step mom and the croissants were fantastic. My burger was amazing. The potatoes were yummy. I could tell they were under staffed. Usually when a business is under staffed it means that management is difficult or unreasonable. Maybe they should take some management courses on how to treat employees. After about 20 minutes sandwich arrived, told waiter to mark off salad since we never got it. He said he didn't write down a salad. We used to enjoy this restaurant, but quality and taste of food has deteriorated significantly. Had party of 8 last night and food was just OK, with exception of She Crab soup, which was pretty awful. Tasted bad, but was partially eaten and complaints were directed server. They claimed soup was made fresh daily which is very hard to believe. To make matters worse, the person who ate soup became violently ill in middle of night, vomiting until morning. I reported to manager this morning. He affirmed soup fresh daily. We know that's not likely or food was contaminated. Of course, no way to prove, but feel it's pretty obvious. read more
