Great neighborhood home style cooking restaurant with fast service and great prices. My family took us there for dinner. The selection was great and there was no problem with substitutions. Laura our efficient server quickly brought our drinks and dinner. I got a smothered chicken cutlet with mushrooms and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy and cherry cobbler which my grandson devoured! Dave got two pork chops thinly sliced, collard greens., mashed potatoes and gravy and cherry cobbler. The kids got chicken tenders, fries and fried pickles! Everything was made fresh and hot! I have been eating at this place for close to 20 years... It is my go-to place in the entire upstate for good comfort food... I usually get a 16 oz hamburger steak with sauteed mushrooms and peppers... The french fries always come out perfect... The hamburger steak is always great.. they have really good sweet tea... And I love the cobbler and the best vanilla ice cream I've ever had... I drive 12 miles each way and I would drive 40 miles each way I had to... That's how good the food is... read more

After being discouraged at Cracker Barrel with small portions and $43 dollars for 2 to eat I found great relief at A&P restaurant on Highway 14 in Greer. The same identical meal for both of us, but with a better taste, full portions and no spoon shaking for $13 less. read more

This is the mom and pop place that we all look for for comfort food. I haven't had a bad meal yet. In fact, I am surprised that the small things like slaw and potato salad are very good. You would be surprised how hard it is to find either of these foods. The service is second to none. Friendly experienced staff with cooks that I would put up against diner cooks. read more

I love A+P , but I think it's a southern thing but ordered 2 chili dogs (the dog ) was said . which I assumed meant a hot dog . I was home by the time I saw they didn't put a hot dog on it. only happened one other time in Texas 25 years ago. but please ask people if they want the dog .. especially now a days there are just as many northern people that expect a hot dog on a chili dog. we all do t know it has to be ordered as a hot dog with chili. what a disappointment read more

Not a bad place for a meat and three. Plus they have a drive thru! We ordered takeout food one night. We ordered one chili dog, country fried steak with green beans and mac, grilled chicken tenders with collard greens and green beans, and a peach cobbler. Five stars doesn't mean A&P is a five star restaurant, it means they are a five star rated meat & three restaurant that checks all the marks one would want from a mom and pop, comfort food, meat & three. Wikipedia probably describes a meat & three better than I can, so here is their description: "the customer picks one meat from a daily selection of three to six choices (such as fried chicken, country ham, beef, country-fried steak, meatloaf, or pork chop) and three side dishes from a list that may include up to a dozen other options (usually vegetables, potatoes, corn, green or lima beans, but also other selections such as gelatin, creamed corn, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti), or even a dessert." Good description except lima beans are called butter beans in the South. And, they left off fried okra, cornbread, pinto beans, collard greens, and cobbler. A&P also does burgers, some seafood, and a wide variety of options, but it is really a classic meat & three that expanded their menu. It is country cooking and as their menu cover says: "We are all family here, we know you will agree." It's the kind of place you get called "Hun" by a woman 20 years younger than you and everyone is smiling. The food is cooked fresh to order, they do not have a heat lamp. This is nothing fancy, it is just a well rounded "diner" style family restaurant complete with formica tables and a diner style single seat bar service - not for drinks but for eating. I had the country fried steak, fried okra, mashed potatoes with gravy and cornbread. Everything was very good, it was perfect comfort food for me. I am not a fan of sweeter cornbread, which was their style, but we won't hold that against these good folks. It was my first visit and I will return! read more

I'm gonna keep this one pretty short and sweet. I do not recommend this restaurant. Mac cheese baked to oblivion overcooked. What all was edible was decent at best. Mashed potatoes were not bad. Fries were terrible. Cheesecake nearly made me cry it was so bad. Tasted like a jello no bake cheesecake. Cole slaw practically came out of a food processor left unattended. What is edible is mediocre at best. They seem very friendly though I took my order to go. The ambiance is your general small family restaurant place. Compare this place to many of the clock restaurants. Actually they may as well rename the place to the clock. In other words, keep it moving, for the price you can get better elsewhere, though they may have some hidden gems on the menu I haven't caught yet - though I won't be the one to try to keep looking for them. read more

My husband and I came here for the first time in years and had high hopes. Sadly, the food has changed and it did not meet our expectations. First the water tasted very weird then the pickles tasted almost like metal and food isn't well seasoned. The service is okay it's just not like the old fashioned diners used to be. read more

First let me say the people at the A & P were great, loved our wait staff and mgt. was kind. Unfortunately that is where the good news stops. This visit was our 1st to this stop and based on other reviews we looked forward to the eat. Walking in we had the self seat option and sat down, clean and comfortable. It was around 11 A and we were all in on a breakfast. The bad news we discovered, it is no longer served after 10:30 - bummer. We quickly transitioned into the lunch menu and reluctantly picked from the menu - one cheeseburger plate and one BLT plate. The food came super fast (thinking they should have spent more time on the prep). The fries were coolish and definitely not crispy - you know that limp kind that leave you wanting ? We also ordered up 2 coffees, the creamer was imitation and they came with plastic spoons :( The BLT looked OK initially but the bacon was clearly prepared in advance and realllly crispy, you know like the kind when you bite into it the bacon explodes .. the side of cole slaw was sweet and not my top favorite side. All in, cannot say this is on my list of repeats, onward and upward in the discovery process. read more

A very reasonable priced restaurant with really good food. I took a group of seniors on Friday for lunch and everyone was well pleased with their choices . I had the beef tips and they were delicious, very flavorful and tender. Mac & cheese was very good. Our waitress was excellent, kept check on us frequently. Very clean, and arrangement of restaurant was good. We were a large group and we had part of the private dinner room. Will be back! read more

On Our first visit to A & P we discovered a nice local restaurant with a diner type menu. They have nightly specials (this night was spaghetti - salad & tea for $7.99). I had a vegetable plate of fried okra, turnip greens and daily cobbler. The cobbler was peach and I was not a fan. Maybe I just got the end of the pan. It was all peaches with no "crust" topping. The other vegetables were ok. Service was friendly and good. Next time I will try their burger and onion rings. The ones I saw looked very good. read more

Went to this restaurant on my way out of town. Close to the airport. Service was friendly. Food was good. True southern classics like chicken fried steak, fried fish, steak tips and gravy. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner. I choose the 1 meat and 2 vegetable option. Went with chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy with the homemade cobbler of the day (peach) It was really good and came out to the table quick. This place is a great meat and three with tons of options. Very family friendly and the staff treats you like they've known you your whole life. My go-to is usually the stir fry chicken over rice (seriously, it's so good!), homemade macaroni and cheese, and fried pickles. I'm pretty sure I've tried almost everything they have for dinner though, and it was all great! They also have a homemade cobbler of the day, which has always been good.
