Everything was okay but nothing was great. I will acknowledge that I didn't get any heat on my chicken but it still should have been flavorful and it was not. Portions of tenders were good because they were so large but that made them hard to eat IMO. Service was nice, they bring your food. I didn't love the Cajun slaw but the fries were fine. I've been a few times to the restaurant without any issue. The other day I ordered for takeout and was disappointed. I order a buffalo chicken wrap and it was literally chicken in a wrap with some sauce. Nothing else. Don't they typically have cabbage or lettuce, tomatoes or some other vegetable? We ordered lunch from here as part of our meeting. Originally I couldn't tell what this place was since the menu we had didn't have the place's name on it. Once I did some internet sleuthing, I was able to figure it out so I know what to order. I went basic and got 4 chicken tenders which included 2 sides (greens and potato salad). Most fried food doesn't travel well and the tenders were kinda steamed to death when I opened the container. But it still had some crunch to it and it was really good. Still moist and flavorful even though it was white meat. They were also huge tenders, 4 of them is probably an entire chicken breast literally (I could only eat 3 of the 4). The greens were pretty good, could have used a little more vinegar, and the potato salad was slightly undercooked and definitely needed some salt (why is it so hard for places to flavor their food...this is the South!). Flavorshack is one of those things that seems nice on the outside, but on the inside it's actually horrible. The boss, David Robertson, verbally abuses his workers constantly (you can hear it while you're inside of the restaurant), he doesn't take proper care of his equipment (its gone now, but there was MOLD in the drink machines), and is all around just not a pleasure to be around. He is underqualified and the place should be shut down in my honest opinion. read more

Also the man who I believe to be the manager or owner showed incredibly uncomfortable behavior towards the very young girls working there. I will not be returning at all. Man! Let's start from the beginning. This was my husband's and my first time here as we were visiting Spartanburg for the day. The space is clean and no one was in there when my husband and I got in. The owner took our order and he was kind enough to take his time and give us suggestions. I ended up ordering a signature plate Chicken-fried chicken which came with two sides (I got the cowboy beans--chef's kiss and the mashed potatoes and gravy). My husband ordered a half rack of baby back ribs with the sweet potato crunch and collard greens. Everything was seasoned to perfection; hot, fresh and delicious! I always stop and get lunch when I'm in the area , on this day I stopped by and got ribs and wings. The cashier offered me a drink while I waited on my food, I told her I wanted to add a bottle drink to my order and she said ok. I paid for my order and told her I will grab my drink out the cooler when I came back from the restroom. There was no one in the restaurant, so I came back from the restroom and grabbed my drink. She goes back to the kitchen and gets another girl from the back to ask me to pay for the drink, I said what? I looked at the girl who took my order. I paid for the drink again since I didn't get a receipt. The owner came out and looked at me and went back to the kitchen. I come to this restaurant a lot and had several conversations with the owner about life and other topics. He knows me, but he didn't ask if there was a misunderstanding or miscommunication on the transaction. My food came out and I got my food and left ,the food was under cooked . Stopped in in a Sunday evening for quick dinner. The girls at the counter were very friendly and helpful, provided input on menu and answered all questions for us. As we sat down waiting on our food the owner walked to our table and said they were trying new menu items and asked if we would like to try them. Then he brought out a whole platter of apps for us. I'll begin by saying that, due to my job, I have the added benefit of traveling all over these Southeastern United States. My travels allow me to eat pretty much wherever I want, and I do. This also means that I've eaten very well, so the bar for "good food" is set absurdly high. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let me tell you why you shouldn't sleep on Flavorshack in Duncan SC. First and foremost, David Robertson, the owner, will treat you like you're a new best friend. I don't believe I've ever met someone who genuinely cares about serving delicious, home-cooked food to his patrons more than David! Hands down some of the best "customer service" that I've ever experienced. To add some perspective, when my wife and I visited, for the second time, earlier today, she mentioned that she wanted a biscuit with her chicken fried chicken. However, the girl taking our order explained that they don't offer biscuits. David overheard this and quickly said he'd make some just for us. We tried to tell him that it wasn't a problem, but he insisted. After we ordered the rest of our lunch and sat down, David promptly brought out three fluffy, made-from-scratch biscuits with some gravy *and* pimento cheese on the side. And they were perfect, and delicious! While I had the Chicken and Waffles my last visit I got the Angus Smashburger this time. Both entrees checked all the right boxes. Now I'm on a mission to try all of the other items on his extensive menu. So yeah, I'll be back - probably later this week! Oh, and my wife's Chicken Fried Chicken with Blackeyed Peas and Cajun Slaw? Well, I always like to ask her to rate new things we try on a 10-scale. She's really hard to please and I'm used to getting responses like 8.5 for good meals. Wait less than what I expected for a new restaurant on a Saturday night. Entrees included Chicken & Waffles, Half Rack Baby Back Ribs. I like that you have multiple options for sauces, on the ribs. I was most impressed with the sides. My Black-eyed Peas were amazing, as well as the Mac & Cheese. Seasoning unique and tasty, unlike the generic canned stuff served at Cracker Barrel. All the staff we encountered were super-friendly and helpful. I ordered the 4 piece chicken tenders with mac & cheese and mashed potatoes w/ gravy. I chose the "What the cluck?!" sauce for my tenders. Being their hottest sauce I expected it to be pretty spicy but it wasnt bad at all. I got a side of the Firewater sauce and that kicked it up a bit. These LARGE tenders were some of the best I've ever had. Lightly breaded, and very moist. Perfectly crispy and the sauce is very tasty. The mac & cheese was very creamy. The flavor was awesome and I loved the breadcrumbs on top. The mashed potatoes w/ gravy were also on point. Chunky but cooked perfectly. The gravy was also delicious. Both sides were seasoned perfectly with great flavor. I was very impressed. Since everything else was so good we had to try the Banana Pudding... I didnt see a grandma working back there but there is one somewhere. This stuff was magic. However, when I ordered the chicken and waffles, the chicken tenders were bigger than most tenders. Their sauces are excellent. I've heard people rave about their salads. My son got their NY Buffalo 5 piece chicken wing. They are the whole wing- drumstick and flat. It came with celery and ranch (or blue cheese) and we ordered fries with it. My husband ordered two thighs and a leg, corn and mashed potatoes. The food was good, and we ordered our chicken medium spice but the breading was not spiced at all. I think they may have forgot to put it in and gave us plain instead. The breading is excellent anyhow, but some spice would have been good. I honestly don't think you can go wrong here with options from salads to chicken pot pie etc. only complaint is it's kind of pricey. read more

Heat is okay but for others who can't handle heat, I can see it being a challenge. I struggle with businesses like this one. This is basically a Bojangles with a better menu. First the good. Expansive menu. Wine and other drinks. Multiple choices of sides. Now the not so good. 5% surcharge for takeout. You loose me every time with that add on. Advertised as "hot chicken" down the slice of bread. Buyer beware. This is NOT Nashville Hot chicken. Just spicy fried. 10-15 minute prep time. I do appreciate the freshness but Bojangles (I am not even a fan of Bojangles) can give you the same meal in seconds for a lot less $$. On the sides, if you order a meal, you cannot get choose just any item on the sides menu. Didn't see them marked maybe I missed it. You can only include certain sides with a meal. Several tables not cleaned for those that decided to stay and not pay the take out fee. Huge pothole in the entrance of the parking lot. Not the experience I expected. read more
