I enjoyed the friendly service here today. Although busy I was still taken care of. I ordered cottage cheese and tropical fruit which was very refreshing. My breakfast companion enjoyed their two eggs, sausage with grits. The grits should have cooked a little longer, other than that the breakfast was delicious. I look forward to coming back again when I'm visiting Greenville.

Classic and staple to GVL! They get busy but we were lucky enough to be sat right away. You can't go wrong with this place. Everything is delicious. Not overly done but just right. Pancakes and the steak biscuit is my favorite.

Want a down home diner feel with just real good food? Here ya go. Sweetest servers with Southern charm and light and fluffy biscuits to boot. Bacon was perfect and eggs light and fluffy. We will be back when we travel!

Traveling through Greenville we stumbled upon Stax. What caught our attention was the massive crowd lined up outside waiting to be fed. "Well," we said, "time to come back at a more reasonable hour and give this place a whirl." How about lunch on Monday? On their website they say, "Since the early 1970's Stax's Original has been a Greenville tradition and a unique service to the community." Proudly they pound home their roots as well they should. The old school counters with low stools along with tables and then booths appear to sparkle with happiness for all they have served. Ran by Greeks, Stax's has a big menu with enough belly busters to satisfy nearly everyone. And then they seem to stumble. Our server was lukewarm at best, perfunctory, and unfriendly. Although my wife thought her open face beef sandwich with gravy was excellent, my turkey dinner was mediocre like a tired actor running through her lines for the millionth time. It lacked flavor and pizzaz. If nostalgia is on your radar, Stax's has it in spades. If top-shelf diner cuisine is more your fare, they may have some reworking to do. But, what the hell do I know--they're lining them out the door. Give 'em a whirl and judge for yourself.

This place is not fancy, but they are ALL about the food and service. You walk in to a "Seat Yourself" sign but there was a gentlemen there who greeted us and pointed us in the direction of an open booth. The server met us before we even sat down! She got our drink order and let us review the menus that were already on the table. I ordered the meat lovers omelet with grits and added cheese to my grits. Mom ordered the cheese and mushroom omelet with homefries, and my brother go the western omelet with homefrieds. I was blown away. They do not skimp on the filling of the omelets!! They were so full it looked like there was just enough egg and cheese to hold the fillings in. Lol The server and the gentleman at the front door came by asking if we needed anything or more drinks several times and the price was right. My giant omelet and grits was on $11.15! I definitely would come back here every time I'm in Greenville. Ambiance is casual and relaxed. Just come dressed as you are and enjoy a great breakfast! I can't speak on lunch, but breakfast is gr

I had such a great time!!! The food and the service were great. The atmosphere is amazing and the food is to drool for. I got the Stax's french toast. Nothing too crazy but the taste was far from ordinary. The texture, the toast and the savory french toast did not disappoint. I think the chef was inspired that day because my plate came so fast and the food was delicious! It comes with 2 eggs and bacon. I asked for sunny side up, although im not a fan of the yolk being very soft, it was good. The freshly squeezed orange juice is authentic and SO hard to find in other restaurants. I have to say, this was one of my favorite breakfast places. I just LOVE a good breakfast!

We were seated on the terrace by the door, which was less than desirable but still good. The chair I was in was awfully uncomfortable, but the benches were suitable. For food, we ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts, Earl Grey tea bread, chicken tamales, berry French toast, mushroom bruschetta and fried oysters. The Brussels were good and perfectly cooked. The Earl Grey tea bread was good, but too sweet for me (not a sweets person). My friends ordered the chicken tamales and berry French toast, respectively, and enjoyed their meal. For me, the menu didn't have anything that caught my eye, so I made a meal of the small plates. I love mushrooms, but I felt that the mushrooms in the bruschetta needed to be chopped. Their meaty texture and large pieces made it less than desirable, even though the flavor was good. The oysters were well-cooked and served in an ample portion, but with cocktail sauce rather than aioli. When asked, she brought me the paprika aioli that's on the Brussels sprouts. Still, I think a lemon-and-herb aioli or a lemon-and-horseradish aioli would have been more appropriate for a fresh brightness to cut through the breading. It was almost a good meal, but oftentimes the devil is in the details.

I was hungry and didn't know what or where to eat, not like there is a lack of options, but did I want ramen or something more local in regional flare? I picked the second one. I ended up at Tupelo Honey because fresh southern fried chicken sounded amazing and this place wasn't going to break the bank. I guess this place is a chain but I didn't know this until I was eating. The staff were beyond friendly and attentive and they answered all of my questions about the food. The restaurant was super clean. I ended up ordering the half bird with original seasoning on it. The seasoning the put on it is a crystallized honey power and something else in it, it gives the chicken a nice sweet flavor but not overpowering. They also have a spicy version for you spice lovers. The half bird came with 4 pieces as one would expect, the crust was crispy and the chicken was awesome. I was eating the dark meat and couldn't get over how juicy it was. The real test as you all know is the breast, is that going to be dry? Nope, it was so moist and flavorful, it was a home run. I guess they brine their chicken for some good amount of time and it shows. My sides though I wish I would have gotten more adventurous, the meal came with two sides so I got a salad and the fried potatoes as a recommendation from the waitress. They were good but the mac n cheese looked better. Overall this place is great and I would go again. It's right downtown and the service was fast and friendly. Great place for some fried chicken .

We were there on a Saturday night and people were everywhere. But once we stepped into the lobby there was a lovely piano bar . This hotel has a calm, refined feel to it. The bellman met us at the door, took our bags upstairs and even walked around to show us where to park. The only downside for me was that our room was just a little bit elevated from the street so we could hear a lot of the Saturday night fun that was going on. If you would prefer not to hear the street sounds you may want to request a room on a higher floor.

The property was very impressively decorated for Christmas!! I loved how the large, two story Christmas Tree was in the main lobby and extended to the mezzanine level and they decorated it so very nicely! I also noticed the garland inside and wreaths outside. The whole property was nicely kept up to shape as well, so regardless of seasonal décor, I'm sure it's a beautiful place any time of year! This property has a restaurant onsite, Spoon Bread is what it's called. They also have the Piano Lounge. The Piano Lounge has a bar, which is a nice (and clearly popular) place to hang out and meet prior to leaving the property for dinner. Also a nice place to gather for that after dinner night cap with co-workers. Sleep quality was decent. HVAC in the room was nice and quiet... the worst part of the room was the bathroom, which I hated because you can't open the door and use the shower, because the door opens into the tub. They need to replace the door with barn style or pocket doors, like other properties have. Only other issue was the valet. I tipped a dollar on one drop off one day and the valet gave it back. I've never had that happen before. So, a dollar isn't enough and you prefer nothing at all? Noted! Overall, the stay was nice, but next time I'm in town, I'll try the AC across the street - It's looked way more festive outside and it's worth a try.
