We had such a wonderful experience with Denise and her husband at Southern Palate for our wedding! The food was absolutely delicious and so many of our guests raved about it afterwards. The spinach and artichoke dip I could eat a whole bowl of! It was really important to us that the food would be memorable, and they truly delivered. Beyond the food, Denise was incredibly kind and supportive throughout the process. Planning a wedding can be stressful, but she helped to calm my nerves and made everything feel manageable. We also appreciated how flexible and budget friendly they were. They offer a wide range of options whether you're looking for a plated meal or a buffet style set up, which made it easy to find something that fit our vision. The best part was we were sent home with a bag of food from our cocktail hour that we missed while taking pictures and an additional meal from our reception. Enjoyed a good Southern lunch buffet for $9.95. There were 3 meats and about 10 vegetables for you to help yourself to. Prices includes Salad bar ,soup, tea and dessert. What a deal! Inside is small and fills up quickly at lunch. Food is constantly being brought from kitchen so it's hot and fresh. My Favorites were the Mac & cheese and firecracker chicken. I had pineapple cake for dessert. It's like eating at your Grandmothers house complete with mismatched china plates. Service is friendly and food is fresh and good. Southern Palate is GREAT! I was well taken care of by Denise and her team. I highly recommend them to anyone for catering. Everything was amazing from communication, pricing, service, to food quality. We used Southern Palate for my son's rehearsal dinner of 65 people. I knew what atmosphere I wanted but had no idea how to achieve it. I was on a budget. I called several places, some didn't respond, others weren't friendly after realizing I wasn't spending a fortune. I emailed Southern Palate one evening and the next morning Denise called. She never made me feel uncomfortable (cheap) when talking about my budget. She found a way to make everything perfect within my budget!!! She responded immediately to questions and details. She guided me through details I had not thought of. The food was amazing. Everyone was impressed. The quality, the taste, and the setup were perfect! There was more than enough food, no one left hungry. The team was efficient and thorough. Denise also guided me emotionally through my first son to marry :) and made sure she was at my event! Wow! Nothing like it around Greenville or Greer! Located near downtown Greer, there is a Small Buffett as well as a Menu you can order off of. Buffet selection is definitely not your usual....the items are fresh, delicious and a step above. I would call it "gourmet southern." What a lovely evening we had at my son and daughter-in-law's rehearsal dinner at the Davenport. Chef Denease and Chef James were amazing, along with their staff. The food was absolutely delicious and the genuine concern in making sure that this was one of the happiest nights of our lives was their goal. They walked around and talked to the guests, making sure everyone was comfortable and pleased. They took away dirty dishes, which was not their job, but wanted to make sure that the tables were cleaned for guests to be able to visit. These two people are wonderful and kind and will make sure that your event will be perfect. So tried to eat here once before but arrived late and buffet was about over. Came back earlier today. No process for seating tables. It's up to diners to keep track of their order of arriving. Vegetables all overcooked. Highlights were mac and cheese, masked potatoes, butterbeans. Disappointments were green beans, cabbage, collard greens because of their strange seasoning. It was obvious collards were fresh because of the way they were cut but they were full of thick stems. My mama taught me if you're going to go to trouble to cook fresh collards, remove woody stems. Banana pudding was tasty in spite of only one slice of banana in my serving. Nothing really to bring us back. Another diner compared SP to Wades in Spartanburg...sorry... not even close. read more

A full parking lot usually means great food so being unfamiliar with the area, we decided to take a chance. Sunday buffet and every table was full. We waited patiently at the door and were told by patrons on their way out to take their table. Staff quickly cleaned up and took our drink orders. The sweet tea was just perfect. The mix and match china plates at the buffet were so pretty and the food reminded me of the delicious family dinners that my grandmother made when I was young. Particularly enjoyed the chicken, homestyle mashed potatos, butter beans, sweet potato bake, melt in your mouth cornbread and the cute little dessert cups- banana cream and pumpkin were a delight. Great buffet with fresh veggies and all items made from scratch! First trip to Southern Palate. Owner welcomed us and explained the setup while giving us a menu. She recommended the buffet as first timers so we could try the variety. Told us all the veggies were fresh and everything was made from scratch. Glad we took her advice. Buffett was very good and the veggies obviously were fresh. Good variety. Includes salad bar, desserts, bread and drink. Restaurant is very simple and unassuming, but clean and nicely decorated. Entire staff very friendly and provided excellent service. Nice touch that impressed us was the plates are nice china like grandma had. Tea was in wine glasses. Nothing plastic or paper! The food is good; the ambience is abysmal. It was difficult to enjoy my meal when the voices in the restaurant were bouncing off of all of the hard surfaces. I could hear and understand the conversation two tables away while I could not hear and understand my companion. There has been no attempt at making the eating area attractive or non-utilitarian. The facility has been a restaurant before and I ate there many times. The food was comparably good. While there was still a problem with noise, it was lessened by the arrangements of tables and the efforts to make the eating area attractive. I hope they focus a bit on the appearance of their place and make it as pleasant as the food. read more

Please do not chose this cater ! Denise is very unorganized and did not even remember an apt we had set up for a tasting . I went ahead and booked for my daughters wedding and she never contacted me or sent a receipt from when I paid for her service , I contacted her 10 days before the wedding( she never contacted me ) and she changed everything she had told me her services included . She would not issue a Venmo refund she is going to mail it . It's 10 days before the wedding and I'm stuck with no cater and no refund . Four friends met for lunch at another Greer restaurant the Monday after Easter, but it was closed. As we debated where to go, another lady also there suggested the Southern Palette on W. Poinsett Street. We took her advice and were really pleased. The chicken salad was some of the best I have had. The salad and soup were tasty as well. It took a while for our food to be prepared, but it was super fresh and worth the wait. The owners and wait staff are friendly and welcoming. They haven't been open but three months and still have some work to do in their decor. Highly recommend for lunch. read more

I've been here twice and have never ever had such consistently poor service. Had two different servers, so it isn't just one badly trained one. Enter, seat yourself and wait for a menu. Then order your drink. Server forgets the spoon for tea and the lemon. Brings it five minutes later but still no regular place setting. Takes order. We were the only customers in the place (literally) and it took more than 15 minutes to get a cheeseburger (overcharred) and a delicious chicken salad sandwich, with two soups of the day (tomato basil- very thick and too much basil.). Still no silverware. Husband got up and asked server for some. When she brought it she offered him more tea and he told her, yes, please, sweet tea. More than five minutes later, she brings him unsweetened tea. Okay, so he'd add sugar. Oh , no sugar on the table, just two kinds of artificial sweetener. I looked on two other empty tables. Same deal. Weird. Okay, so I ordered a buttermilk brown sugar pie for dessert. Disappointing. Burnt on top. Or maybe it was supposed to be that way. Total check $28. What a wonderful find! Unassuming on the outside, this little spot is now my favorite place to eat in Greer, and worth the short drive from Greenville. Everything my father and I ate was perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked, and so good that I went back for a second plate and a second dessert, something I haven't done since high school. The meatloaf was great, the veggies were perfect (I don't know what they did to those green beans but my mouth is watering just remembering them), and the banana pudding was so good you could cry. Bonus, the service was friendly and attentive without ever crossing the line into pushy or fake, I really believed they all cared if we had a good experience. Even the old, handwritten, framed recipes from the owner's family on the tables were a sweet touch. I saw the owner working hard in the kitchen, perfecting every item herself, and you can taste the love in every bite. I wish I'd found this sooner, I can't believe how inexpensive it was, and I liked the atmosphere very much. Everyone at our table and at the other tables left smiling, so there you go! read more
