Being from Asheville, we're no stranger to food trucks, but Thoroguhfare's truck is beautiful. The color pallette they utilize is a classical black and white, but the accents run throughout the truck, including the covered awning! An awning on a food truck, to shield customers from the sun and rain, what a touch of class. Also, everything was immaculately clean. I couldn't tell if this truck was brand new, or if they give the thing a french restaurant style scrub down at the end of every service. The menu was simple yet well prepared, there were the aforementioned items, as well as Fish Tacos (my favorite) and Shrimp and Grits with a nice large hunk of tilapia. We selected the Fish Tacos. $9 for two tacos is a bit expensive, but I feel like we were paying for the quality of ingredients and the convenience of location. Ordering was quick, payed with a card via Square, and the person operating the window took down our phone number to text us when our order was ready. This is another really pleasant courtesy. Our tacos were prepared quickly and we dove in. The kale was a very interesting choice. It provided a nice green flavor to the tacos, but I missed the crunch of the standard cabbage. It's cool, kale is in, I get it. Kale is probably much healthier than cabbage as well, I know. It's just... I want that bite curve! Aside from me being a real dork about the need for cabbage in fish tacos, they were excellent. The fish was prepared extremely well, and the white sauce was totally on point. While eating my wife mentioned how everything tasted so fresh and healthy, that although we were eating fried fish she didn't feel guilty or bad. Lovely! As I sat there waiting I noticed that one of the A/C vents had a heavy build up of condensation which dripped down to the floor creating a small pool of water. I noticed another lady that worked there, maybe the chef or manager, had a smile on her face and stopped by all of the tables to speak with the customers. All of the tables except mine were greeted. In the beginning there were 8 people including myself and more slowly came in which kept the young lady busy at the register. The more senior employee brought some drinks to the larger table, these looked like refills, but did not notice me with my empty glass. Finally after 21 minutes my medium well burger came out. The flavor was not bad and it filled me up. The flavor however did not taste like a juicy burger you would get a five guys or off the grill. I was not very impressed impressed by the quality of burger I received for the amount of time it took. I may give this place another try but will not be getting the burger. They seem more like a salad or maybe a sandwich place. Who know's they may even drop by my table next time to see how my visit is going. I cannot give a thumbs up or down on this visit. If you decide to eat here go in with an open mind.
