Enjoyed dinner at Select last night--we eat there often for brunch meals, but this was our first time to go in the evening. The food was wonderful. It was hard to hear our conversation because of the noise level around us. The server was extremely friendly but slow to return to our table with requested items. I ordered a cup of tea for $5 and when I asked for a refill, we were charged another $5 for a teabag and cup of water. I would have been happy to reuse my first teabag. This $5 charge ruined my desire to return to Select for any dinner meals. read more

Popped in unexpectedly to Select for a lunch after some shopping. It was busy with people having brunch but we went with some comfort food on the cold day. Caesar Salad was possibly one of the best I've had in a very long time. The dressing was on point. The Candy Pork Chop was so delicious. Cooked perfectly, and those cinnamon apples? Wow! The food here is awesome. A bit on the pricy side, we dropped $100 here on two burgers and side salads, & it was worth every penny! Burgers are a solid half pound, chips are hand made and that's the freshest side salad I've had anywhere in the past year outside of my own garden greens. Cooked to perfection. My husband and I went to SELECT for dinner on a Thursday night after a friend recommended this place. The restaurant was pretty full by 630pm but not too loud inside. Our server was very nice and came by often to check in on us. We got 2 rounds of drinks (beer/cocktail) - while we did like the drinks, the cocktails are pretty pricey, with most drinks at $18-20 and some specialty ones going up to $30+. We got chicken satay for an appetizer, and it was just okay, not bad but not great either. I got chicken salad panini - because the menu said 'panini' I thought it would come with a panini bread or some sort of artisanal bread, but no, it came with regular multi grain bread. And the sandwich was at best average, and fries weren't that good. The scallops were probably the best thing we ordered - though pricey ($40+) and smaller portioned, they were delicious. I might come back for just drinks next time, but I don't think the price justifies the quality of the food served here. read more

We have friends that we have started going out with once a month. Last night my husband chose "Select" Restaurant in Greer, SC. This was my first time there as it was the first time for our friends. Tina ordered the grilled chicken salad, my husband and Jonathan ordered the roast beef and I had Age of Memories which is chicken with mushrooms and a white wine sauce. The food was very tasty however someone like me who has food allergies, it was a bit difficult for me to find something to eat. I chose the chicken but it didn't go well with the food regimen that I'm currently on and it contained lemons which I'm allergic to but I took the chance (and I took a Benadryl before my food came out). I enjoyed the food and fellowship and I will most likely be back. I just wish there were a few more gluten feee options on the menu. The atmosphere was very nice and quaint. And I loved the idea of them having local artists displayed in their establishment. The wait staff was pleasant and very helpful. Over all it was a very nice outing. read more

We have a 11 month-old baby and someone was complaining about his screaming, literally 2 minutes after we sat. Our baby does not scream all the time. This was a 10 people table and we had to leave. In the pouring rain we had to leave and go somewhere else. You would think they would allow us to stay, but no. Very poorly managed place. She didn't even asked us politely if we could try to keep it down, but no, she just said they were not family friendly, meaning we were not welcome there. Terrible experience! read more

Probably the best Monte Cristo I've had. We had lunch at the bar and the service was great. The attempted add-on sales pitches got a bit tedious but the friendly demeanor of the bartender helped us get past that. Wine selection was fantastic and our bartender was a great guide, helping us choose. A bit pricey for lunch, I'm not certain we'd do lunch there again. Select is a great restaurant! For the bad reviews complaining about price, as do most restaurants you can see the menu and pricing before going. There is a mcdonalds down the street for those who don't want to pay premium pricing for high quality food. If you complain about pricing then Select probably isn't the place for you. Made a reservation for a Sunday brunch. When I arrived, the hostess had no record of the reservation, so I pulled the confirmation up on my phone. She never looked at it and just kept asking me the name over and over. Finally, a manager came over, and I showed her the confirmation. She also dismissed it and said reservations through OpenTable do not have to be honored because it's a third party. Keep in mind that they don't have their own system, and the restaurant was more than half empty. The manager begrudgingly said they would try to seat me, but I chose to leave given her attitude and the fact that I had made a reservation that should have been honored. I won't be returning and will let others know that their reservations won't be honored. read more

Casually Fine. It's the slogan for Select, posted right on the restaurant's outdoor sign. Located on Trade Street in the heart of downtown Greer, we dined on New Year's Eve. Several of the guests took the casual part seriously, feeling comfortable in everything from trucker's hats and plaid shirts, to sweaters and slacks. Our server, Daniel, appeared to be rather new, serving red wine vinegar with the "Bruschetta Enchantment" when we requested balsamic, and Rose All Day when we requested sparkling Rose. To his credit, his description of the unique Monte Cristo preparation was sufficient to appropriately guide us to a different selection. We had two steak entrees. The BERRY BLUE FILET ($59 | $69 Filet mignon center-cut Certified Black Angus medallions, enthroned on a bed of roasted garlic mashed potatoes, crowned with SELECT Berry Blue, topped with a fresh tuile and drotzels of blueberry coulis) was excellent. Prepared as ordered, cut like butter. Daniel didn't ask our preference, but charged us for the larger size. On the other hand, the NOUVEAUX RIBEYE ($63, Certified Black Angus center-cut ribeye seared, seasoned, and grilled to your liking. Enchanted with our walnut, garlic, sherry compound butter. Served with hand-crafted roasted garlic mashed potatoes) suffered from the problem with Ribeyes- difficult to even cut on one end due to gristle untrimmed. It was bad enough Select should speak with their meat supplier on this cut. We shared asparagus (6 stalks at $9) which was flavorful, but pricey. With two Maker's and the correct Sparkling Rose the tab topped $200. That's special event pricing for a meal and service not that special. read more

We loved everything about Select...the decor was clean and rustic. We sat at the bar and got great service and suggestions from our bartender. My husband got the Tuscan Filet and I got the Age of Memories chicken. We tried each others dishes and couldn't decide which one was better because they were both so tender and flavorful. I've came here for brunch for a few times and have really enjoyed it. My only complaint is the parking. If you cant find it on the street then you have to try to find it in a lot and those can get booked. Their skillets are generous in size and just delicious. The biscuits are huge and fluffy and I loved their sweet tea. I got their hot chocolate one time and I highly recommend! Super chocolatey and rich. Everything we tried tasted bland, like the seasoning was boiled out. What really blew me away was the price of drinks. My husband ordered two Old Fashioneds and the bill for those alone was $65. That's $32.50 each, and they weren't even top shelf or worth it. I've been to far nicer restaurants in the U.S. and have never seen that. Bottom line: the staff was wonderful, but the food was tasteless and the prices are absurd. Definitely not worth the hype. In town for a day. Select was recommended by the folks i was working with. I was the only person in the restaurant. I thought they were closed, but i had just missed the lunch rush. Great timing. I got a nice table at the window. I had Alexis as my waitress. She recommended the Age of Memory. It sounded pretty interesting, so I got it. The meal arrived, and dang, did it look good. I dug in quick. The flavor was nice. Everything complimented the different ingredients. Sun dried tomatoes, procutto, fettuccine, cream sauce, broccoli, and a few other things. This dish hit the spot. It was very filling, so come hungry. Everything is expensive, but you only live once, and you have to splurge once in a while. This was mine for this week. Paid a first visit to Select Restaurant. Had a Wednesday night reservation for two. We were seated promptly. Select sits on Trade St in downtown Greer. There are several nice, quaint shops that adjoins Select on Trade St. There is no designated parking to my knowledge. After a bit of circling, we found a parking spot on Trade St about two blocks from the restaurant. The menu is diverse covering angus steaks, pork chops, seafood, etc. The restaurant specializes in steaks. There are several steak offerings. The prices for steak lovers range from around the high $50 mark to over $70. We had a dinner salad, the scallops and the chef's special swordfish. All were very tasty. I loved the bread that accompanied the entrees. Service was good, not outstanding, but good. I think the restaurant and its customers would have benefited from one additional server. Our server was good, but maybe had two tables too many. The bar service is nice. Nice ambiance throughout. Overall, a nice dinner outing. Next time, I'm going to try the beef! read more

First time here for dinner, I've only been previously for brunch. Our large group was able to book their private wine cellar which was very nice. Service was very good, and we were able to order fairly quickly as appetizers arrived. We had several of each to share: German pretzel, chicken satay, and bruschetta. The pretzel was my favorite, big enough to share and came with really good beer cheese. For my entree, I was debating which burger to get but ended up getting the ribeye. It was perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned with compound butter. The accompanying mashed potatoes were light, creamy, and great. I think their desserts are meant to be shared, because the ones I saw were huge. I just got a little cup of ice cream which was more than enough. Overall this place is very good from the food to service and would definitely return. read more

For dinner we started the satay. The chicken was moist with a good peanutry flavor. For entrees we shared the "Age of Memories" which is a delicious chicken dish. We heard the pretzel was great, so we ordered that along with the Caesar salad for apps and the pretzel was not the best. I order the SHRIMP PUTTANESCA and my husband got the Uptown steak dish, his was okay but I felt like the puttanesca lacked flavor. The overall quality of the food was lackluster and didn't match the price at all!
