    Prime Pot Roast

Popped in unexpectedly to Select for a lunch after some shopping. It was busy with people having brunch but we went with some comfort food on the cold day. Caesar Salad was possibly one of the best I've had in a very long time. The dressing was on point. The Candy Pork Chop was so delicious. Cooked perfectly, and those cinnamon apples? Crazy, crazy good. My husband got the Prime Pot Roast and it was AMAZING!

Wow! The food here is awesome. A bit on the pricy side, we dropped $100 here on two burgers and side salads, & it was worth every penny! Burgers are a solid half pound, chips are hand made and that's the freshest side salad I've had anywhere in the past year outside of my own garden greens. Cooked to perfection. And Mercedes, our server, was beyond outstanding. Anything you order from here is going to be outstanding. BTW, their restrooms are tasteful and spotless. A solid 10 here!

My husband and I went to SELECT for dinner on a Thursday night after a friend recommended this place. The restaurant was pretty full by 630pm but not too loud inside. Our server was very nice and came by often to check in on us. We got 2 rounds of drinks (beer/cocktail) - while we did like the drinks, the cocktails are pretty pricey, with most drinks at $18-20 and some specialty ones going up to $30+. We got chicken satay for an appetizer, and it was just okay, not bad but not great either. I got chicken salad panini - because the menu said 'panini' I thought it would come with a panini bread or some sort of artisanal bread, but no, it came with regular multi grain bread. And the sandwich was at best average, and fries weren't that good. The scallops were probably the best thing we ordered - though pricey ($40+) and smaller portioned, they were delicious. I might come back for just drinks next time, but I don't think the price justifies the quality of the food served here.

Select is a beautifully curated dining experience nestled right in the middle of downtown Greenville. The mussels are perfectly cooked in a delectable broth. The bread served with it is perfect for dipping in the broth. The cocktail menu offers a great assortment of drinks to accompany the entrees. The staff is attentive and courteous. The space is neatly appointed. You step in and feels like you're in a big city restaurant.

Casually Fine. It's the slogan for Select, posted right on the restaurant's outdoor sign. Located on Trade Street in the heart of downtown Greer, we dined on New Year's Eve. Several of the guests took the casual part seriously, feeling comfortable in everything from trucker's hats and plaid shirts, to sweaters and slacks. Our server, Daniel, appeared to be rather new, serving red wine vinegar with the "Bruschetta Enchantment" when we requested balsamic, and Rose All Day when we requested sparkling Rose. To his credit, his description of the unique Monte Cristo preparation was sufficient to appropriately guide us to a different selection. We had two steak entrees. The BERRY BLUE FILET ($59 | $69 Filet mignon center-cut Certified Black Angus medallions, enthroned on a bed of roasted garlic mashed potatoes, crowned with SELECT Berry Blue, topped with a fresh tuile and drotzels of blueberry coulis) was excellent. Prepared as ordered, cut like butter. Daniel didn't ask our preference, but charged us for the larger size. On the other hand, the NOUVEAUX RIBEYE ($63, Certified Black Angus center-cut ribeye seared, seasoned, and grilled to your liking. Enchanted with our walnut, garlic, sherry compound butter. Served with hand-crafted roasted garlic mashed potatoes) suffered from the problem with Ribeyes- difficult to even cut on one end due to gristle untrimmed. It was bad enough Select should speak with their meat supplier on this cut. We shared asparagus (6 stalks at $9) which was flavorful, but pricey. With two Maker's and the correct Sparkling Rose the tab topped $200. That's special event pricing for a meal and service not that special.

    Fried green tomatoes!!! Heaven.

We are actually en route from Texas to visit and planning our return here. The fried green tomatoes are to die for and I've dreamed of these for months!

Her sleeves are rolled up, a few loose strands of hair catching the daylight as she moves with effortless rhythm. A warm, knowing smile spreads across her face as she happily serves a jug of the house-made egg nog. Soon after, she prepares a crafty Old Fashioned--measuring the bourbon, stirring clear ice in a heavy rocks glass, perfectly embodying the brewery's quirky southern soul and big-hearted attitude. There's a lived-in comfort to the space: scuffed wood that tells stories, sunlight pooling across tables, and small-town pride in every detail. The atmosphere is welcoming and unpretentious, equal parts gathering place and second home. It's where locals come not just for the beer or cocktails, but for the familiarity--the nods, the shared jokes, the sense of belonging that keeps them hanging around long after the glass is empty. Cheers!

It initially came with no basil, all the tomatoes were all in the center not scattered around, and the crust was burnt and hard. When I bit into the pizza, it crunched. Flatbreads aren't even cooked that much. We had to call in and get a new pizza. It had more tomatoes and this time it had basil, but the crust was still thin, overcooked and crunchy. Very disappointing. Refer to my video and of past photos. Whatever has changed, should be fixed sooner than later.

Concrete floors stretch farther than a gossip trail in July, echoing every clack, shout, and whoop like the place is tryin' to remind you it used to be something industrial. There's TVs everywhere--the whole place hums with people packed in tighter than church pews on Easter Sunday, all chattin', clinkin', and elbowin' their way to a good view. Tables and chairs are nothing fancy, just sturdy enough to handle hot wings, beer mugs, and the occasional enthusiastic fist pound. In the back, a foosball table spins its little plastic fellas like they're runnin' drills for the World Cup. Servers zip around so fast you'd swear they're trainin' for a NASCAR pit crew--dodgin' stumbles, slidin' past barstools, and deliverin' plates with the grace of someone who's done this dance since birth. It ain't cozy, it ain't quiet, but lord have mercy, it's alive. Now their pizza--bless its heart--comes out lookin' mighty hopeful, all round and steamin' like it's fixin' to impress somebody, but the moment you take a bite, you realize it's about as exciting as a layover in an empty airport terminal. The crust's got the personality of a cardboard coaster--flat, polite, and determined not to offend by having any actual flavor. And that Italian sausage? Lawd. Dry as a sermon and somehow even blander than the rest of the pie, like it got all the seasoning scared out of it somewhere over the Midwest. It fills the belly if you're hungry, sure--but it sure won't make you stand up and salute the flag of flavor. Cheers!

I read it three times, not because I misunderstood it, but because I wanted to confirm that it listed pets and children in that order, which it did, and that tells you something about the sequence of problems they've encountered on the lawn, though I've decided not to find out what exactly. With that said, the lawn is not exactly a lawn at all, unless you consider granite rocks as a lawn, which the residents of Elberton, Georgia do as it is considered the "Granite Capital of the World." Elberton this is not. This rocky lawn is to be filled with Bichon Frisés and children in ball caps, and on the afternoon I visited it was doing exactly that. There was a dog near the covered bar area moving through the patio with the serenity of an animal who has never once been told that other people exist. His owner stood nearby holding a beer and looking proud, which is a face I recognized, because I have a son and have stood next to him with that exact expression at least twice in public places where I should have known better. I had the Radiant Positivity, a sour ale at 6%, which sounds like something printed above a middle school guidance counselor's desk but turned out to be genuinely good, all grapefruit and a tartness that knew when to stop. I thought about ordering the Kamp Jam, a 4% light lager described as tasting like shared laughter and the unbreakable bonds of friendship, and decided I wasn't there yet. The owners opened this place in 2014 and have expanded it three times since, which tells you something about Greer that it probably already knows about itself but that the rest of the area is still catching up on. Consequentially, Greer itself has also expanded its waistline 3 times since 2014 but that's a discussion for another time. I ordered a second beer, the Howler Bock, a Helles Bock that the bartender described in terms I didn't fully follow but nodded along to, the way you nod at a doctor who is explaining something you've already decided to accept. It was malty and quieter than the Radiant Positivity, the kind of beer you drink while thinking about something else, which is not an insult. I thought about asking about the Southern Sanctum, an American Tripel, but the afternoon had reached the evening and a point where a Tripel felt like a commitment that deserved more deliberation than I had left in me. I paid my tab, which was reasonable in a way that surprised me given the quality of everything, said goodbye to nobody in particular, and drove home thinking about the Kamp Jam, and whether the unbreakable bonds of friendship were something I'd get to eventually.
