Stopped by Logan's Roadhouse first, and the wait was about 40 minutes, which was fine. While we were waiting, we decided to drive over and check out Chophouse 47 since we had originally thought about going there. It was very close by, so we figured if Roadhouse called us, we'd just head back. As soon as we walked into Chophouse 47, we were seated. The ambiance is hard to put into words. Very classy and intimate with dim lighting. Not something we were specifically looking for, but it definitely added to the experience. Our waiter, Zsolt, was excellent. He walked us through the menu, explained the specials, described the steaks, and made recommendations, and everything he suggested was on point. We had the porterhouse for two, absolutely amazing!!! Everything we ordered was first-rate!!! Highly recommend Chophouse 47. You'll be glad you did. Oh, last thing to mention, we had the butter cake for dessert. It's huge and so good!!! read more

My husband and I have been coming to Chophouse for 6-7 years, and until now we've consistently had wonderful experiences. That's why what happened this past Valentine's weekend was so disappointing. We had a 6:30 reservation and arrived at 6:25 to find the entire entryway completely packed. We understand it was Valentine's weekend and expected it to be busy, but this felt beyond busy -- it felt significantly overbooked. After finally checking in, we headed to the bar. The bartender was clearly overwhelmed (through no fault of her own), and it took about 20 minutes just to get a drink. Despite having a reservation, we weren't seated until a little after 7:30 -- over an hour wait. That is simply unheard of when you have a confirmed reservation. The only reason we stayed was because it was Valentine's Day and we knew getting in anywhere else would have been nearly impossible. The wait staff was apologetic and kind, which we genuinely appreciated because it was obvious the situation wasn't their fault. Unfortunately, the overbooking also impacted the kitchen, and our food took a long time to arrive. We didn't leave until 10:30 p.m., which is excessive for a 6:30 reservation. What was most disappointing was that there was no acknowledgment from management beyond verbal apologies from staff -- no small gesture, no complimentary glass of wine, no discount. The evening felt like a case of overbooking at the expense of both customers and employees. We hope lessons are learned from this. We've loved this restaurant for years, but we will not be returning on Valentine's Day again. It definitely left a bad taste in our mouths. read more

We came out to celebrate an early Mother's Day for myself, with my husband and children. I know dim lighting gives ambiance and mood, but being barely lit, and so difficult you can't see the menu is outrageous. The insanely overpriced food was mediocre at best. Complaining would have fallen on flat and not been resolved. Instant mashed potatoes, absurd. 6 stalks of asparagus dumbfounded us all. Food was fine. Waitress was very attendant friendly. We were seated near the door and to say it was noisy is an understatement. People come in hollering and stand over my food as it is being served. I won't be going back but not because of the food or staff , it is just that it sounds like a fast food restaurant and I don't like dropping $500 in an overly noisy restaurant. Took the family here this evening and was very impressed. The atmosphere is typical for an upscale restaurant, but a little darker than it should be. I had to use my cell phone to read the menu. We went 2/15 the day after valentines day. The restaurant had brought it folding tables to max out the restaurant seating. We were 12 inches from the table next to us. Packed in like sardines. I have been here 10-15 times, and they always have tight seating, but this was crazy. The kitchen could not keep up as our dinner took 2.5hrs from start to finish. I ordered the wedge salad. Got the smaller servicing, drenched in dressing, and missing blue cheese. Our mashed potatoes tasted like boxed potatoes, and our brussel sprouts were super tiny, not like usual. I ordered my steak medium, and it came out rare. They sacrificed quantity for quality trying to bring in too many people for valentines weekend!!! We went here for the quality, but we won't be back! Reading through all these recent reviews, we were a bit worried about this place. But, it's the only real steakhouse in the upstate we could find and wanted to treat my husband to a birthday dinner. I would say the reviews were based on either rare situations or has by folks who are never happy with anything. The service was exceptional, most of the food was excellent, and guess the only "complaint" I'd have is I dropped $900 on our dinner last night. But, overall for the absolute lacking of quality of service in this state, it was worth it. Specially for the food, definitely the best steaks you'll find outside of your own home (if you know how to properly prepare a steak). We had the tomahawk, porterhouse "for two" (it is not for two......I killed that steak on my own (a petite female), the ribeye, and the delmonico- ZERO complaints on these, they were all melt in your mouth tender and cooked absolutely perfectly. We got the béarnaise sauce and it truly didn't need it. The pork belly strips were pretty good- could've been more tender but still good and that horseradish bbq sauce was surprisingly good (I don't care for horseradish). Onion rings were GREAT, they got the inside onions caramelized AND perfectly fried on the outside- not just a soggy onion inside. I was disappointed they couldn't make the baked shrimp work without the breadcrumbs (allergy). I feel like for the money they could've made it work somehow with some creative thinking and weren't will to take my suggestion. Brussel sprouts were ok. One of the steaks we got the shrimp on top and were disappointed for the cost we got one shrimp (and it was the same breaded shrimp- they really need to have a non-breaded options. The reviews on the lighting are legit- very dark but that's expected in my experience. It's FREEZING in there bring a light jacket if you tend to be cold. I was also hoping for a a better dress code requirement but that expectation may be because of my 15 years of Las Vegas fine dining experience. We dressed for fine dining, but honestly we were over dressed for the crowd. Our server was Stan and he was great, his busser was on top of our waters and sodas the whole time. I went there for the first time for my birthday yesterday. My friend treated me therefore I did not want to complain however my steak was charred so much that I thought they set it on fire for hours. It taste so smokey and burnt. I did not enjoy it. I continued because my friend was so happy to treat me. The dessert was the worse. The cake was so sweet. Seemed as if I was eating plain sugar. This was not the best experience at all. I had assumed the steak would be the best I tasted. I am disappointed. The overall decor was pretty and relaxing. The staff was so nice. The food was not. I went to the Chophouse for my husband's birthday. We had 6 in the total party. It was August 23rd to be exact. We chose this restaurant because it never disappoints. Until then. We had a 7:30 reservation and had to wait a few minutes to be seated. No problem. Once seated we gave the wait person our drink order. 30 minutes later he came with the bottle of wine. No glasses. 10 minutes later he came back with glasses and the wine steward opened the wine. We ordered our entree and 30 more minutes went by before we were served. At this time it was almost 9:00. Five stars all the way. My wife and myself had supper there last night and everything was fantastic. We've eaten there eight or nine times over the past ten years and have never had a bad experience. Both steaks were cooked exactly as we ordered them and our sides items were great as well. The service was just enough, not overbearing but just enough, he would show up at the exact moment we needed him. The mood set with the dark colors and music really makes for a good time. Terribly disappointed, for the 3rd time in the past two months we showed up for our reservations. Waited for over 20 minutes just to check in to find out the wait time is an hour plus. The last time we waited almost an hour 45 before leaving. Tonight 2/13/26, we just left when they said they were an hour behind. This needs to be addressed! We talked to several poeple in Line that also had reservations.... Food is always good but this establishment over books often. You are losing poeple to other places because of this unprofessional way you handle customers. It "was" one of our favs. I really hope you take this seriously. read more

I have never been to a more non kid friendly place. They did not even have a high chair - I get it I should have done more research here. So just note that (no kids menu - not even the fries are normal for kids). Secondly, I go to a lot of nice steak restaurants and the steaks and sides here were a huge disappointment. Nothing memorable about the steak. The mashed potatoes tasted instant and were super watery. A steakhouse without a decent potato selection is horrible. Absolutely wonderful experience. My husband got some gift cards as a thank you, and we went on a date night to enjoy them. We've been wanting to go here for a while, and finally it worked out. We started with the beef carpaccio which was amazing! I love me some beef carpaccio so I was super excited about this item. It was topped with arugula and a horseradish tasting sauce, and what looked like maybe a balsamic glaze of sorts. Amazing flavor, but I think it didn't need as much sauce. We highly recommend this! I also ordered the wedge salad which taste good and had nice presentation. It was a bit hard to cut with the butter knife, so our waitress brought out a steak knife that worked way better. If you go for the wedge, request the steak knife and save yourself the awkward workout! I had the garlic chicken entree and my husband had the salmon for our main dishes. We also split a side of grilled asparagus. The asparagus came with hollandaise sauce on the side, but honestly, it was perfect without it. All the food was really satisfying. The service was top notch. Our server was Kate U., and she was awesome! We recommend coming here for sure! My only dislike was how dark it was in there. Arrived for 8:45pm reservation, told it would be a 45 minute wait. After 30 minutes, we were sat in the front of the restaurant with the cold front door & busy high traffic area. The people next to us were complaining they waited 3 hours. Long wait time between server greeting / ordering / food arriving The food did not make up for any of the bad time. At first we were kind of excited because the soup was amazing but then it went down hill from there. My bf ordered the NY strip ~$70, 1/5 was inedible , rock hard gristle. Ordered rare steak and it came out black and blue /cold. Petite filet didn't even look like a filet, ordered MR came out rare...Creamed spinach tasted like the dip that would be in a cheap Mexican restaurant and the brussel sprouts were burnt to an absolute crisp. I write this review because I need to caution other people before they attempt to dine here. The last few times we have been to ChopHouse, the quality of the food and service has been unsatisfactory. Last night, we arrived at 5:45 for a 6pm reservation. There were several other couples waiting and a packed house. We waited about 30 minutes and inquired about how much longer the wait would be and the hostess said we were "next in line." As we continued to wait, other people would walk up and ask about how much longer they would be waiting and the hostess told them the exact same thing! I was getting worried. At 7pm, (still waiting) a couple was called up that arrived a good 30 minutes after us. We inquired again and noted that others were being seated that arrived after us. Again we were told we were next in line. I don't understand why the hostess wouldn't just be honest with us. Like "sorry we over booked, you will have to wait about an hour." Just some transparency. After waiting 90 minutes we were seated. The server was gracious as always, but my steak arrived rare and I ordered it medium. We sent it back and the manager brought out the steak and dropped it off without a word. Not a "I'm sorry" "does this work" nothing. This is the second time we have been to ChopHouse with this type of treatment. It makes me sad because we have been going here for years but something is just off here with the hostess team, reservation quality and the manager. For a high-end restaurant, I have a much higher expectation in the quality of service and quality of the food. read more

We have dined here numerous times. The food is always good. On par with the finer steak houses (and seafood) that one would expect. I have always considered CH47 as the first Greenville restaurant that could be in the "big city" leagues for food and service. So, why three stars? I think the word to sum it up is "familiarity." Our waiter was a young man, let's say a young confident man, and his approach to his role as our waiter reminded me of going to a play where the lead actor is out and the understudy comes in - "tonight, the role of your waiter will be played by David." "Are we celebrating anything special tonight?" Nice question, but the tone puts it off as if we *have* to be celebrating something to be here because it is that special. Or, "that's a good order, we can do this tonight." Or, "Boss, you got that bone in ribeye, you must be in heaven right now." It just added up. Plus, misses/delays on refills of drinks from the bar. Unfortunately, the restaurant was also out of Fl Stone Crab Claws, one of the main reasons for our visit, which we learned after we asked. And then the evening is closing, and our waiter offers a clammy handshake to both me and my wife, which not only was unusual, but came off very strange. Familiarity part two - if you are dining on a Friday night at CH47 and decide that wearing an untucked golf shirt, shorts and loafers with no socks, maybe you should have gone to Applebee's instead. What I am saying is that a fine dining restaurant ought to have at least a notch or two above a casual dining dress code or expectation. It is part of the reputation. I'm not trying to be a curmudgeon, even though it sounds like that, but if you are paying $78 for a 22 ounce bone-in prime ribeye steak, which is kind of special, you probably want to dress a bit nicer and you probably don't want your waiter commenting on your food choice as if you stumbled into the choice by luck or with the attitude that "you don't get that all the time." I've eaten here a number of times over a number of years. All I can say, is that were this my first experience here, in the atmosphere of a high-end, fine dining establishment, I probably would't come back for a long time due to the "familiarity." read more

We went to this restaurant on Mother's Day. It's not as good as it used to be. I understand this was a special occasion and the restaurant was quite full, but it seemed to be well staffed from all the people running around. However, from the time we arrived to the time a waiter asked for our order was excessive, and the time from the order was given to the time it arrived was also excessive. Then this restaurant has the gall to say that a dinner for two should take no more than 1 hour 20 minutes! The food was very good with the exception of the cheesy mashed potatoes. This was nothing more than instant potatoes with a cheesy crust, and it should never have left the kitchen. Any chef who serves it doesn't deserve his position or his apron. Then they charged $13 for it. I should have ordered the baked potato. This restaurant is slowly declining from when we first went there 10 years ago. Hall's Chophouse is less convenient but definitely better. read more

I don't know how they even have 3.5 stars as this place is very poorly managed. The food is great but that is the only positive. Arrived 40 minutes early for reservation was seated 45 minutes after reservation. Took 20 minutes to take drink order and then 30 minutes to take appetizer and meal order. After appetizers came it took another 4O minutes to get food. One customer came in 30 minutes after our group of 4 and her group of 4 were seated within 10 minutes. Waiter poured Diet Coke into one of our parties water. I could list 10 more issues but I believe I have said enough. Avoid this place at all cost!! read more

We love this restaurant and it is our weekly go to on Sunday evening. Normally we sit at the bar and service is always excellent even when they're busy. This last visit last night as the saying goes a server can make or break the experience. This was definitely the case. Beyond awful. The food was great but our server. She ruined our experience. It was our 30th Anniversary dinner. She was none existent and when she did show up was trying to rush and ham our order in. Now for the bad part..... We ordered the Cesar salad with dressing on the side. Didn't have but a few bites as salad, apps and dinner showed up pretty much all at once. Ordered the bacon and only at one slice. Ordered bernaise sauce for the steak. We took the bacon, steak and salad to go. When we got home we have romaine lettuce with no dressing. The bacon was missing as was the bernaise sauce which to add insult to injury we were charged $4.00 for which is fine but not when you don't get it. 5 Star Dining We visited here from Atlanta. We made same day reservations for two. It was brutally cold out and my honey had a hat on. He was asked to remove his hat (he's bald) shortly after giving our name. Reaturant was about 70% full. Steaks and wine seem to be their speciality. The side are served family style. Service was exceptional. I ordered the 8oz center cut rib eye filet. It was not tender as they bragged about and had a lot of gristle. My Honey had a 12oz. Butterflies filet. He thoroughly enjoyed his meat. I also orders a martini. The first one I sent back because it taste like cough syrup. Our server offered to replace it, when he notice I was not drinking it. The second drink was the same, but I drank it. Two entries, a drink and dessert was over $200. I would return, but I order a different protein and no drink. Drinks and appetizers were great. We both ordered medium rare steaks and they both were delivered cold. We waited almost an hour for the entrees so they probably sat for a while. Service was sub par.
