I will start off saying the service was outstanding. From the hostess at the door to the servers on the floor as well as the manager, they all were very polite, professional and Henry was attentive. We had a large party and handled us with ease. The Mason Jar is a nice, quaint, stylish but laid back restaurant and the atmosphere was perfect. I love the location because afterwards, I was able to walk down to several shops before leaving. Let's get back to the food! Ahhhhh yea the food.... ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I love to travel and dine so I have officially made this one of my spots! I had the shrimp and grits and they have a creative spin to it. It was so much that I could not finish it but you better believe I wanted to! Whoever thought the blend of grits, shrimp, Brussels sprouts and bacon would be a hit!! The others at my table enjoyed their meals just as much as I did. I highly recommend this place.

We came in for lunch and we were greeted right away. Everything was fantastic except we couldn't get refills on our drinks because the restaurant was so busy. Which is great for the business. But everything was delicious and we'd definitely come back.

Great local bar with a good variety of food on the menu. They also have monthly specials. The staff is super friendly and definitely want you to feel at home.

Friendly staff and patrons make you feel welcome. This was around 7pm on a Sunday. Good crowd, fast fast service.

Ok, service is amazing, Destiny was very friendly and knew just what I wanted. She literally picked out 3/4 of my meal. The food was great and had scratch made ingredients. This place has the makings of a gastropub in a little tiny SC town. I would drive an hour for their burger and banana pudding. The pudding is just like my grandma's and made with a custard. I loved every bit of it. You will enjoy the food and extensive beer selection. The new owners have had it for about 6 months. Come on and get ya some of the good stuff.

The Mason Jar is a local sport pub with home-made souther food, with additional options for those that are health conscious. The atmosfera is relaxed. A mixed of regular tables, high chair tables and a bar. Nothing here is up-scale. Everything is comfortable, like an extension of your living room. A great place to hang-out, have a meal or just watch sports. Prices are reasonable, service is fast, and food is good (not gourment), but match the pub style. I will come back again. Great place to de-compress and have a bite.

The…read moreprices have gone up yet the quality isn't what we were used to getting when already spending a ridiculous amount for a pizza. Last night we had ordered a margarita pizza. It initially came with no basil, all the tomatoes were all in the center not scattered around, and the crust was burnt and hard. When I bit into the pizza, it crunched. Flatbreads aren't even cooked that much. We had to call in and get a new pizza. It had more tomatoes and this time it had basil, but the crust was still thin, overcooked and crunchy. Very disappointing. Refer to my video and of past photos. Whatever has changed, should be fixed sooner than later.

Concrete floors stretch farther than a gossip trail in July, echoing every clack, shout, and whoop like the place is tryin' to remind you it used to be something industrial. There's TVs everywhere--the whole place hums with people packed in tighter than church pews on Easter Sunday, all chattin', clinkin', and elbowin' their way to a good view. Tables and chairs are nothing fancy, just sturdy enough to handle hot wings, beer mugs, and the occasional enthusiastic fist pound. In the back, a foosball table spins its little plastic fellas like they're runnin' drills for the World Cup. Servers zip around so fast you'd swear they're trainin' for a NASCAR pit crew--dodgin' stumbles, slidin' past barstools, and deliverin' plates with the grace of someone who's done this dance since birth. It ain't cozy, it ain't quiet, but lord have mercy, it's alive. Now their pizza--bless its heart--comes out lookin' mighty hopeful, all round and steamin' like it's fixin' to impress somebody, but the moment you take a bite, you realize it's about as exciting as a layover in an empty airport terminal. The crust's got the personality of a cardboard coaster--flat, polite, and determined not to offend by having any actual flavor. And that Italian sausage? Lawd. Dry as a sermon and somehow even blander than the rest of the pie, like it got all the seasoning scared out of it somewhere over the Midwest. It fills the belly if you're hungry, sure--but it sure won't make you stand up and salute the flag of flavor. Cheers!

The owner named his arcade after this ghost, which is either the most romantic thing a business owner has ever done or the most honest, and I've been unable to decide which since I left. The 80s are here the way the 80s are always here once you're old enough: not as decoration but as a low-grade persistent condition, the kind that flares up without warning in a grocery store when a song comes on that you haven't thought about since 1987 and then can't stop thinking about. The arcade cabinets are lined up along the walls, the kind that hummed and ate your quarters with no apology in 1984. They still hum. The quarters part is covered in the flat admission fee of either $15 an hour or $20 for a whole day of genuine nirvana, which is a more generous arrangement than the original decade ever offered. There are also two chandeliers for an elegant touch, a full ornate candelabra situation hanging above the consoles, which is either a design decision made with great confidence or a mistake that became load-bearing. Either way I respected it. I played Frogger. The frog died repeatedly, in the specific way things die when they commit at the wrong moment. I stood there longer than I planned. Henry, who is almost eight, played pinball at what I can only describe as an alarming rate. Not alarming in the sense of worry, alarming in the sense of watching someone do something faster and more confidently than the years they've had on earth would suggest. He worked through three machines in sequence, nudging each one at the right moment with the flat of his palm, the way men who've been doing this since the Reagan administration do it. I stood behind him and said nothing, which is a thing I do more and more as he gets older, because there is increasingly less to add. Pinky's Revenge moved recently from Taylors Mill to downtown Greer, forced out by South Carolina's new liquor liability laws and the fact that Taylors Mill has the ambiance of a place where people likely get killed on a rerun of Law & Order. The drink menu is fully canned, which is the correct delivery mechanism for a room like this. A PBR for three fifty next to Donkey Kong feels exactly right, and I say that as someone who also paid seven dollars for a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and did not regret it. The menu also carries Jolt Cola for five dollars, still advertising all the sugar and twice the caffeine, which was the entire value proposition of being seven in 1985. There is Capri Sun for two dollars and Yoo-hoo also for two dollars. I ordered both for the family without explanation because none was required. Clearly we had a thirst little could quench. The menu also lists THC seltzers, Rebel Rabbit, five or ten milligrams, eight dollars. The last time I was in a room like this it was 1988, a Putt-Putt Golf and Games off a highway in suburban south Anderson, and the most transgressive thing available was a second game token and a Mello Yello. A woman near the pinball machines was wearing jelly bracelets, the translucent kind, stacked to the elbow. She was in her forties. She beat the machine badly and walked away without looking back, which is the most 80s thing I have ever seen a person do in real life, and I was there for the original run.
