One tip for parents and a reason we don't really go often since having a baby: there are no high chairs and no changing table in the bathroom. Brunch is awesome but we'll no longer be coming for dinner as the prices have gotten super crazy here. I understand the costs have gone up but their ribeye as an example has literally doubled in price since 2019. Setting is good combination of casual and nice. Had a pretzel appetizer (get the cheese dip with it), a steak and the "smoldering intensity," and strawberry pandowdy (excellent!). Food was pretty good. Service was good enough. However, our server (or anyone) NEVER asked us how our food was after we tasted it. That's just a basic of service. Just because we're eating it doesn't mean we're fully satisfied. I'd recommend for a special more expensive dinner, will probably go again, but it won't be a regular place for us. read more

We made our reservation for Saturday brunch. They were full with a wait. But, our table was open quickly. We didn't want a Hi-Top and they got us a regular height table. Nice! Terrific server! Have been here a few times and it's always a great experience. The ambiance is always great. It's not quiet but it's not loud. Great music in the background and art on the walls is beautiful. For brunch my go to is always the Steak Oscar. If your a skillet lover, you must give this a try. It's served on a cast iron skillet, black angus steak, shrimp, asparagus, potatoes with poached eggs. Trust me you wont be disappointed. The Cinnamon Roll French toast are a flavorful treat. We shared this as an appetizer between two of us...guilty pleasure for sure! For dinner my go to tends to be the Tuscan Filet. The filet is top with a cream, sun dried tomatoes, that is so favorable. You won't be disappointed. It's served over potatoes. One of my favorite waitresses is Lilly, she always has a warm welcome and is so a tentative. When I can't seem to make up my mind on what to order, she knows so well that what she recommends is always spot on. So if you can't make up your mind, ask her for some recommendations, trust me...she is good. Another one of my favorite waitresses is Miriam. Came here for brunch with my wife and daughter. First off let me say that this restaurant is definitely not kid friendly. We have a toddler and dine out all the time. This was the first time a restaurant has not had a high chair. They were also very rude about it and made us feel uncomfortable that we had a child with us. Do not come here with kids. Moving to the food. It was way overpriced for mediocre food. The chicken skewer appetizer was cold and dry. The Reuben sandwich was soggy. Fries were just your basic fast food type. Not good quality food. The drinks were bad. We both had cocktails and just were too sweet and not right. When getting the check I had to argue with the waitress about the drink I ordered. I had a Moscow mule which is a vodka cocktail and she had charged us extra for top shelf tequila. Will not be coming back here. read more

Had dinner last night at Select and was very HIGHLY impressed, all the way around! Blake was our server and he was magnificent!!! I live in Charlotte, and he was, hands down, the best server I have had in a very long time!! When I told him I thought I wanted to order "Southern Charm", he asked me a few questions. After after finding out that one of the main reasons I wanted to try that dish was the pasta, he recommended I try "Ages Of Memories". He specifically mentioned the oyster mushrooms, which I love, and how flavorful the entire dish was. He went on to tell me that if I decided to go with "Age Of Memories", he could ask them to serve it over fettuccine noodles, rather than the broccolini. Needless to say, I was all in! I asked him to let the chef recommend a glass of wine that would pair well with the dish, and they aced that too. My friend ordered the "Manhattan Tuna", to which I tried a few bites, and that was delightful as well! Loved that it had a little heat, but not too much! We had the "Bruschetta Enchantment" as an appetizer and I would definitely recommend that as well! Living in Uptown Charlotte, where I often walk to tons of amazing restaurants, I must say that the meal, the ambiance, and the service are well worth a regular drive!! I'm already looking forward to another road trip to visit this gem, and will absolutely order the exact same thing! My husband and I finally got a long overdue date night and decided to go somewhere nice. He was able to secure us a reservation a few days before our date night as it seemed like this was a best practice for dining there. We ordered our drinks and bruschetta for an appetizer. Both came out promptly. He ordered a whisky neat, which had a lovely flavor and I ordered a cocktail (which names for both escape me now.) The filet mignon I ordered medium rare was cooked perfectly and easy to slice, and melted in my mouth. The berry compote on top complimented the steak nicely. I enjoyed every bite! My husband ordered a pasta dish which I failed to take a photo of, and he said it was delicious. Our waitress that evening was incredibly kind and funny. We have young twins at home and had to cut the evening short to get back to them and she was very understanding as well as quick to get us our food, check and process payment so we could get home. Easily a 5 star review here. We tried a few cocktails, the Bardstown Old Fashioned, Sidecar, and irish whiskey. All were outstanding and proper, my only complaint here is justifying a $32 dollar old fashioned (yes it's a fancy whiskey used but you can still make outstanding old fashions with good but more reasonably priced whiskey). We ordered the Berry Blue Filet, it was perfectly crispy, salted and cooked. The blue cheese on top of the filet and Parmesan crisp on top of the mashed potatoes were delightful. Atmosphere is very open, high ceilings, cool artwork on the walls and a very nice bar area in the back. Drinks: One of their things is pre-prohibition era cocktails. They are reviving some lesser known cocktails from the era, but they are expensive. It is clear that the sale of spirits is a big money maker and the cocktails are promoted heavily. I think the least expensive bottle of wine on the menu was over $30, so there is not much of a mid-range on that front. Our server, Tyler, was very helpful, attentive and knowledgeable, and this was on a busy Friday night at peak dinner service. Front of the house was working it well and we were in a good table position to notice and observe. The hostess was very friendly and likeable. We had a 6:30 reservation and were promptly seated. The host was one of the owners sons and was quite smarmy when I complemented him on his handling of the front of house, replying with: "And how would you know if I am doing a good job or not." So, that happened and it was an unnecessary comment upon our departure. Foodwise, we enjoyed an appetizer bruschetta and a grilled Romaine Caesar salad. My wife went with the American Trilogy Burger with pimento cheese, Applewood smoked bacon, and fresh avocado slices on a butter toasted pretzel bun. She liked both the burger and the fresh cut waffle potato chips in accompaniment. I'm glad because that dish was $19. Let me qualify my next statement by saying that I have traveled (on expense account) across the country and dozens of international trips and eaten at many fine dining restaurants. Also, I have taken a couple of culinary courses and do a lot of cooking myself. I ordered the King certified Black Angus Prime Rib. There isn't any possibility that this $40 12 ounce "prime" rib was actually "prime." At least a third or more of the cut was fat. Usually, I will order a prime rib (with all the marbling throughout) as medium rare and if it is not prime, I go with medium. The main reason is the difference in fat - see the picture that I posted of the difference between prime and choice. The portion of the meat that I was able to eat wasn't bad, it just wasn't a prime cut. It took some sawing to get to the "good part" too. I have heard others mention that this restaurant does have some good food, but the very next thing they say is that it is way overpriced. Especially compared to the nearby alternatives and compared to how they position the fare. Proceed with caution. read more

Beautiful dining room! The mixologist at the bar, Abriel(sorry if I butchered your name) was very nice and entertaining. We finally got seated and the server was very nice. We brought our 2.5 and 4 year old who are used to dining in restaurants. We didn't need any high chairs so that wasn't an issue. Our server offered items on the menu that would be "kid friendly". When we initially called to make our reservation, the lady who answered the phone told my husband when he asked if there are kids menu (we didn't expect it but just inquired), she replied with "absolutely not!" I was put off by that and it could've been said in a nicer way. However, I'm happy to report that every person we have encountered have been very lovely. The food was great! The desert were amazing. It was 2 decadent grit cakes on top of asparagus, with 2 shrimp prawns, with an Applewood bacon creme. It was phenomenally presented and tasted even better. This is a cute adorable restaurant in Greer, SC. The service was outstanding! We had Shannon. We never had to ask for anything. She took really good care of us. We would give 5 stars for the service that Shannon provided us. We ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich and the Juneau Salmon. The sandwich was good but all of the meat was on one side of the sandwich and the other side was just French toast. We felt the Juneau salmon was a little on the small size for the price. The vegetables it was served on was good but not spectacular. We also ordered the Charlie's Chocolate and Strawberry Pandowdy for dessert. We didn't care for the Pandowdy it was sort of like a soggy biscuit that you couldn't stop eating because you wanted it to taste good but unfortunately it just didn't. The highlight of the meal was the Charlie's chocolate. It was really good but a little overpriced. Now we rated this place as a 3 but the place is packed so maybe we just didn't order the right things. Made reservations via phone for 5pm Saturday evening. Upon arrival was seated right away, restaurant was not busy at this time , waitress was great and informative with specials and menu items. Husband's steak was wonderful cooked to his request medium rare, spot on! My gyro with cottage fries was disappointing for my taste, very salty, both meat and chips. Fried green tomatoes delicious absolutely with the pimento cheese!! Dessert per the menu description sounds magical however it was all right , nothing WOW, the menu description really heightens it for what you expect to be explosive flavors and it was a let down in that aspect. Still a good dessert though. Would return for sure and recommend. The reasoning for 3 star was the salty Gyro and when asked if I wanted FF or Cottage fries, the description of cottage fries was the restaurants version of waffle fries, when in fact their cottage fries was homemade potato chips and again very salty. This was my last of many trips to this place. Food 3, service 1 equals 2. Reservation for 4 at 630 Friday 15 July. Got there promptly even after fighting the infamous Greer (lack of) parking. Ordered cocktails. This began a never ending upsell on every course. A 15 dollar sazerac to a 27 dollar, very similar drink. This was after they had a featured bourbon for around the same price. offered to me. I asked to taste it and was told flatly "no". After some back and forth, they brought the thimble full I asked for. It was good, but not worth the money IMHO. I was told, with fanfare, that they made an exception for me. Speaking of prices, my favorite items from the past were up 35-40% over the last year or 2. Had gentlemens pork loin for entree. Five slices, maybe 5 oz, good but the value trend continues. Service pretty slow; slowed further by the aforementioned upsells. We were offered dessert, opted not to take. We paid our checks and were essentially told that our time was up. "Someone is waiting for your table..." Never in my life was I so offended. Told by Andrea, who I knew for 3+ years. If we are on a "timer": 1) tell us in OpenTable, 2) provide faster service and 3) stop the upsells. Upselling is part of the game but takes tine (valuable when you're on a timer). We go here for breakfast on special occasions. The ambiance is nice however, they are pricey. We took our grandson last week for a birthday dinner. The prices for entrees were outrageous! Not sure why? My grandson ordered a hamburger for $24.00 & it didn't even have fries! They put some kind of potato chips on the side. What? Are we in New York City!? I ordered crab cakes, which was an appetizer for $20.00. I've had better at Ruby Tuesday when they were around. My husband ordered a pork chop which at least had mashed potatoes and greens that were very good, but the price tag for his meal was ridiculous. This is ok for breakfast, but pricey! Over all the food was excellent as always. My husband and I have been going to Select for a while and have never received horrible service or food. My husband and I decided to have brunch yesterday just us two without the kids for the first time in a long time and the Hostess went to seat us and when she did right away she told us she needed us done by 11:30 AM and they would take the table back from us. We thought this was weird because we had reservations and it wasn't like we had just walked into the place to have brunch. The waitress we had was very pleasant very sweet. We got to talking to her and asked if they had another party coming in around 11:30 and if that's why they needed the table back and she said that they had nothing else planned for 1130 in this particular area that we were seated in And that there is no reason why the hostess should've told us to be done by 11:30 especially if we had a reservations. Mind you now after the hostess sat us, she proceeded to seat four other tables and not once asked them to be done at a certain time. She only did that with us. I would definitely look into talking to your hostesses more about not rushing certain people with reservations for no reason read more

If I could leave higher than 5 stars, I definitely would. What a great staff, environment and incredible food. The appetizers (Crab-cakes) set the bar IMMEDIATELY high and did not disappoint. Entree (chicken and fettuccini) oh my god I don't think I've eaten so much in my entire life. Such a great portion for the price. Dessert (chocolate mousse? With marshmallow whipped cream and sugar cookies) didn't last more than a few seconds on that plate, we cleaned that thing UP. The prices did make me feel a little uneasy, until the food arrived and it makes it worth it without a doubt. Place is in the heart of downtown Greer in a nice local setting. Menu was a lot and should have been somewhat of a warning. Drinks were good but pricey and uninspiring. Salmon was the winner for the night; it was buttery and served with a good portion of vegetables. Shrimp puttanesca was dry and tasteless which is pretty hard to do with garlic, olives and capers. And the crème brûlée was the worst ever--served cold with a sugary topping without the signature caramelization. Drive on to Greenville for better options. read more

Here for a holiday dinner with co-workers in the Wine Cellar private room which was great except for the fact that it was located directly under the restrooms. We shared the German Black Forest Pretzel and Whistlestop Fried Dream Tomatoes. Both were very good. The combination of pimento cheese with the fried green tomato was really tasty. I opted for the Berry Blue Filet. The berry blue concoction with the garlic mashed potatoes and well seasoned filet mignon was a good flavor combination and was really enhanced by adding a bite of the tulle. Those that ordered the Uptown Sirloin seemed happier with their selection, so I would probably try that next time instead. Southern Charm seemed to be a big hit and a much larger serving as well. The Candy Chop was the last item to e brought out and the server commented about being pleased with the reaction because that item takes the longest to prepare. The kitchen should be more mindful of that and ensure that the other dishes are started a little later so that all will arrive about the sane time instead of causing some food to get cold waiting on everyone to get theirs. Most everyone shared orders of Charlies Chocolate (chocolate chip cookies baked in cast iron skillet, served with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream). Wasn't aware this restaurant had been open since 2018. Nice location in Greer with easy parking. Ambience upscale and I would suggest reservations for dinner. Once inside it is casual. That being said, it's not a place for children. Our dining was a romantic celebration for two. Select is a nice place to do that, or impress business clients. The menu is excellent. I was expecting more steak options though. I recommend the German Bavarian Pretzel as an appetizer. The hot mustard was great and it's large enough for 3. We opted for a Berry Blue Filet petit, and Gentleman's Cut pork for entrees. The meat, sauces, sides were spectacular. Everything cooked to perfection. Service outstanding. We finished with Key Lime pie for desert and two Hawaiian Sunrise Mimosas. My only suggestion for this establishment - increase portion size, lower the prices. This is now our third time going to SELECT. Every time we have gotten something different and everything has been absolutely amazing.I got the salmon this time which was extremely fresh. It had a pick type of topping on it which was Devine! My husband got one of the steak and it was cooked to perfection. It came with a vegetable medley which included avocado and a nice sauce to it. Came here with 2 work colleagues on a rainy evening for a group dinner. Restaurant had that local upscale cosy feel to it. I had a bourbon to start things off from their list and then we ordered this gigantic fresh pretzel as the recommended house appetizer. It arrived with a tangy mustard and was hanging from a hook. The pretzel was crispy yet doughy and a nice carb touch for dinner. Then I decided to go with a house Caesar salad which was awesome in a light house made Dressing. For my main I went with the Pearl of Atlantis. The scallops were perfectly cooked, came in a big shell with a generous serving of fingerling potatoes and asparagus. I was going to give three stars because upon entering at lunchtime, with our reservation, I was told by the two hosts at the front "your party is back there." Since I had never been there before I asked where as I couldn't see them, they kept saying right there. Mind you no one was behind me or in front of me to not walk me back there. I saw my friends and went back. We realized after the waitress had come that we had one lunch menu, one breakfast and one dinner so when our waitress came and we listened to the others at our table, party of three, that we all didn't have the same menu! I've been here a few years and am disappointed in the restaurants here, you either get bad service/good food or good service/bad food. Dinner, first time. I asked for the $24 Ruben and asked for mustard. When the bill arrived there was a $3 charge for mustard. Nothing special, mustard. I was shocked.
