I was craving a chili cheeseburger and decided to come here. Bonus points that they have a drive thru. The lady was super friendly and helpful. I got a chili cheeseburger and fries with a large sweet tea and a grilled chicken sandwich with fries to go. I also got a chili hotdog. The fries were still piping hot when I got home. The hot dog was my favorite. The burger was good! The grilled chicken sandwich was juicy but not my favorite season wise. I can't wait to come back here! read more

I was born and raised in Greenville. We live in Beaufort, SC now. We were up in my hometown on Friday and came here for lunch because I had to have my clock fix! I got my favorite which is the chili cheeseburger plate half and half (fries and onion rings) with mustard and onions along with coleslaw and a sweet tea! This place is just as amazing as I always remembered it! Service was fast and efficient! If you are complaining about anyone being rude here the problem is with you! These folks are amazing and I've known them just about all my life. All I can say is I went home with a smile on my face and I will certainly be back! Thanks y'all! Went there yesterday and got lunch to go. I work about a mile away so nothing changed about the food on the way back. So let me get started! I ordered a double cheeseburger plate with onion rings and fries because that's how I roll! The patties was on the small side. The two patties together equals the size of what should be a normal burger. Never the less they were seasoned quiet well and tasted great! The topping of lettuce and tomato where fresh meaning they where only a few hours old and they had incredible taste and was seasoned nicely as well. The only condiments on the burger was mayo. That's all that came on it. However you can ask for others and they will add it to your specifications! The bun was toasted on the burger side very well and that gave it a great taste and added a great flavor to the over all burger. The fries was good probably average they had been salted and was freshly cooked but really nothing to get all hyped up for! The onion rings where perfect. They was fresh and home made. Not something you find in a bag in the frozen isle of bilo! Overall I loved the food as it was above average. The building looked to be newer and updated and the interior dinning experience was normal laid back type of atmosphere. Not bad. I've been here before but today I needed a quick bite to eat and that's just what I got. I ordered a bacon egg and lettuce sandwich with Tater tots and a tea. The drive thru was a little backed up at first but it moved fairly quickly. I enjoyed my sandwich and the tots were crispy. I used to eat at the Clock drive-in on Wade Hampton for many many years and when George opened this location behind Haywood Mall, I've eaten there dozens of times and every time it's always good. One of the few places you can still find hand battered onion rings made fresh. The hamburgers are always great and the tea tastes as good as it did 40 years ago. read more

I'm so upset! I go here all the time after work. I went today on my day off in the drive thru.. the man gave me my food and drink but not my card. When I asked for it he said he put it in the bag. I asked him why, most people hand the card back to the customer so they can put it away. He got very hateful with me, I told him he should hand the customers there cards.. he yelled at me and said I am not his boss and I don't tell him what to do. He continued to mouth me and actually called me a Bitch! I told him I want a refund. I was putting my food back in the window and he smacked at it making it fall to the ground. Then he said I Assaulted him... I told him no I didn't. He said for me to leave and never come back. I told him I want my refund and I turned off my car. He finally gave me a refund. I said you must be new because I have never seen him before. He said no he's actually the owners son.. I would give this restaurant zero stars if I could. I went in there to order dinner and got nickeled and dimed for everything I tried to order and when my order came up four dollars more than it was supposed to, I asked the cashier to explain the charges and she was so nasty to me we turned around and left. There's too much competition in this town to patronize restaurants that treat customers that way. The rude lady was white, about 30 years old with dark black-brown hair. We were excited to try out this restaurant as one is coming to Powdersville where Sonny's BBQ was located and we live close to that location. We were near this one on Congaree and decided to try it out. We were in for dinner around 5:30 pm and attempted to order chicken where we were quickly told it would be a 20 minute wait....not an option for us as we had 2 year old twins along. I asked if it always takes that long for chicken were I was told yes and the cashier gave me the impression it was too much trouble for chicken. My wife and I opted out of eating as we really needed the kids to eat and nothing else interested us. We ordered a kids chicken nugget plate along with an order of hush puppies which took about 10 minutes to arrive. It was nice and hot but our twins couldn't eat it unless we cut it up. We weren't given any eating utensils so they had to bring us some. I would have expected those to automatically be brought out with the food especially for a kids plate. The condiment area was scarse and you basically needed to ask for everything so the plastic fork and knife had to be brought out to us. When I placed our order and asked for a cup of water I was informed it was an additional charge of 54 cents - not very customer friendly. They advertise homestyle meals yet there was no aroma in the restaurant to indicate anything was cooking. We were really disappointed with the atmosphere, food and employees. We will not be going to the Powdersville location if and every it opens up. I'm not sure it will do well especially since there is so much competion around them. read more

This is in the old Sonny's building. I utilized the drive-through. Saturday night 7 PM drive thru is a crazy long wait. They are already out of baked potatoes. Girl at the speaker was friendly. Girl at window was friendly. Cocktail sauce tastes just like ketchup. Tarter sauce is good. I had the Seafood platter. The stuffed crab is 99% bread. The fish is really good and the breading does come off easily which was nice. When out of baked potatoes do not get fries. Fish, shrimp and clams were good. read more

I tried to eat lunch here at the Clock today. I ordered the daily special and wanted to get a large drink instead of the small that comes with it. I was told they could not do this. Nor would they even charge me the difference of a large drink compared to a small. They said the could sell me a large drink on top of the price of the special. In other words charge for two drinks but only get one. No thanks. I will never go in there again and I will tell anyone I know not to eat there. The new Clock on Congaree is very good. When we lived in Greenville we used to go to the Clock Drive-In on Wade Hampton and would see George there all the time. The hot dogs were fantastic and the Chilli Cheeseburgers were as well. So when we heard George had opened this location we decided to visit. It is just as good as the one on Wade Hampton. I had the chilli cheese burger, my wife the hot dogs, and my kids had a hotdog and a grilled cheese. All of the food was very good. One of my favorite things about the Clock are their onion rings. The ones here did not disappoint. My wife always tells me when I eat onions she won't kiss me the rest of the day. Believe me these onion rings are worth it. Sorry Honey! read more

This used to be the best place ever!! Key words being used to. Recently it seems when we substitute an order then they mess it up every time! And since they staple the boxes you feel you don't need to check it before leaving. CHECK IT BEFORE LEAVING! They charge 54 cents for and tiny bit of dressing you may want and when I called to let them know that the order was incorrect she pretty much had the attitude of why was I calling her and bothering her with this info? She also said maybe just don't order from that person again!!! And that I should have had him repeat the order back to me so I could make sure he had it correct!! Perhaps they should train them to double check instead of my having to do that. I was appalled. I have waited to review but it keeps happening!! And I would want to know this about a place if it's a regular occurrence. The food is great for the most part of things we have ordered , but even some of their chicken sandwiches have similar names which easily gets the wrong sandwich put in the order as well. Wow. Disappointment. I was not expecting anything great by any means. I figured hey I'll grab something for around 7-8 bucks and have a decent lunch. I eat at these little place all the time and this one is pretty much on par as far as menu selection. Burger plates, hot dog plates, chicken plates, slaw and fries. All standard stuff. What was not standard was waiting ten minutes for food that in all honesty tasted like it was in one of those gas station warmer tables for around three hours. I ordered the calabash chicken, fries and a drink. My total was 9.83! That's Close to sit down restaurants pricing! The chicken was dry, and crunchy on the outside, chewy and dry on the inside. The fries were fine, just crinkle cut no salt fries. The fries are what I'm use to at these places. The chicken was just so bad I honestly could not eat even one whole tender, which there was only three! Three tenders for that price!? The service was ok, she was friendly but obviously under trained. Would have asked for a refund but they have a giant sign saying no refunds. That should have been my first hint.
