Kendall's Grill After driving past it for a couple of decades, I finally stopped at Kendall's Grill. What a mistake I made. All those years I could have had golden, crispy chicken tenders and burgers like Dad used to make. No, I blew it. But I'm making up for lost time--I went twice in one week. Once for the chicken, and again for a burger. Fast review: A burger you don't want to wait 10 years to try. Fried chicken that might make Zaxby's rethink their approach. Let's back up Kendall's opened in 2009. Judging by the orange floor tile, this might have been a Hardee's long ago, but they've remodeled quite a bit. The vibe now is part drive-in, part diner. The front counter is right by the entrance. The kitchen sits just beyond a serving partition. To the left is a full-service ice cream case. To the right, a bar where you can watch your food being prepared. There are cushioned booths inside and several picnic tables out on the porch. Pop music plays throughout. The staff? Always moving, always working--but still taking time to say hello. Friendly, efficient, skilled. The owner is doing something right at the very root of a good restaurant: the people. Part 1 - The Chicken Kendall's sits on West Blue Ridge Drive, right in that "is this Sans Souci or City View?" stretch near Cedar Lane Road. It's a stone's throw from Swamp Rabbit Grocery and about 2.1 miles from Cherrydale. Heads up--left turns into the lot require some attention. The nice lady at the counter helped me navigate the menu, and it is wide: specialty burgers, chicken sandwiches, cheesesteaks, salads, seafood, loaded mac & cheese, hot dogs. The printed menu runs five pages. But I was there for the hand-breaded chicken fingers. They offer 4-, 5-, 6-, and 7-piece options, from $5.99 to $9.99, or $12.99 to $16.99 for combos with a side, toast, coleslaw, a dipping sauce, and a drink (hold onto that thought). I ordered the 4-piece combo, upgraded from fries (straight or crinkle!) to mac & cheese, chose Nashville hot sauce (14 options total), and grabbed a Pepsi. $12.99 plus tax and tip. Drinks are self-serve--fountain sodas, tea, water, and regular or strawberry lemonade. I took a half-table by the window, facing the door (IYKYK). Within minutes, my food arrived--hot, fresh, and plated. Presentation? Classic diner style. Real plate, real bowl. The toast was a thick, golden slice--perfect for making two little chicken sliders. I'm not a coleslaw fan, but this one was crisp, not overly mayo-heavy, and not soggy. The mac & cheese is worth the trip by itself. Creamy roux, real cheese flavor, each elbow noodle still slightly al dente, still steaming when it hit the table. This is closer to Mom's kitchen than anything rehydrated from a cup. And the chicken? About perfect. Tender, juicy, fried just right. You can taste the difference between hand-breaded and "fresh-from-the-box." This was the real thing. Only complaint: I wish the four tenders were a little larger. The Nashville sauce brought the heat. Next time I'm trying the Gold BBQ, Korean BBQ, and Sweet Red Chili. I enjoyed breakfast at Kendall's so much while on my Greenville vacation. Service was friendly, you put your order in at the register then the server will bring your order to the table. I ordered a blt egg sandwich, which was made to perfection. I enjoyed the presentation of the sandwich with a nice slice of watermelon on the side. Heyyy I love seeing menu items named after my hometown. It was quiet today as I went for the pancakes but opted for a cheesesteak. Cool decor and family oriented. Lots of outdoor seating in the front, side and I saw a cute covered area in the back. They also have a drive-thru. Nice spot for all the basics. I got two different burgers and both were huge and loaded with toppings. I called ahead and went to the drive thru which was really nice especially if you have kids and don't want to get out of the car. Usually the food from here is pretty good, portions on fries seem to be all over the place and the wait time especially in the drive thru could use a lot of work. Aside from this though; this place undoubtedly has the most god awful Philly cheesesteak I think I've ever had in my life. Tried to get it one time a couple months ago but they were out of hoagie rolls, finally got to try one today and it was actually terrible. The food was decent, the only problem is i received my food and my fries we're extremely salty. Every single fry was coated in seasoned salt. I went back up there and asked if my fries could be remade as it was extremely salty the guy was rude and made me pay for another batch of fries. I usually love this place but I feel as if my fries are made extremely salty on your end I shouldn't have to pay for another batch of fries. It wouldn't be a problem unless a whole damn table spoon of seasoning is on each fry. Edit: everyone at my table ended up finishing their food and I still didn't receive my fries. Went in for lunch yesterday. We're usually breakfast folks here and have always had good meals. Saw they had Chicago dogs. We're originally from the Chicagoland area. Skinny over cooked hot dogs and WAY too much relish. The buns seemed either a few days old or just dry. We ate a couple of bites and left. Wasted $16. read more

BEST pancakes I've had in Greenville!! Very sweet and delicious! Our waiter was so personable and amazing HOWEVER it took us 35 minutes after being seated to have a waiter come by and then it took us 1 1/2 hours to receive our food . It is very slow but the people are kind! Also my husband order a chicken biscuit and it was very dry and overcooked . He drowned it in ketchup LOL. So maybe just stick to the pancakes? Also the sausage grave is milk gravy with a sausage Pattie ripped up on top , not mixed in . You have to find your own seating in a very crowded building and maybe even order your food at the front for faster service. 1st time customer and it won't be my last visit. The first thing that stood out to me was the customer service outstanding people they were patient with me and my family and our many questions. Kudos to everyone involved. The food was great as well. The highlight were the hot honey lemon pepper wings, which were good size wings that were perfectly cooked and seasoned. I visited this establishment a few months ago because I read a lot of good things about the food there. I ordered a burger and fries and when the guy brought me my food, there was a hair on my plate. I sent it back and they made me a fresh one and the burger was very good, but I have a weak stomach, so my appetite was off from the hair on my plate...Fast forward to yesterday, I thought I'd give it another try, because the burgers are really good. Made a stop at Kendall's gril and was pleasantly surprised. Drive in type restaurant with plenty of seats. I had the John Wayne BBQ burger with onion rings and probably the best chocolate shake I have had in a long time. They have a full ice cream bar. The burger was grilled crisp to give a little crunch, which I like it was well seasoned. The onion rings were hand battered, flaky, and delicious. Great place to grab a sandwich. I ordered bikas aka Kendalls grill from bitesquad today. It was really good with fries and coleslaw. It came packaged well. I also ordered a brownie which was pretty amazing. Reasonable cost and comes with a drink. Update: 8/31 had lunch again. I went to pick it up and tried the Adams favorite burger which was fantastic. We went there to experience the great burgers. They did not disappoint !! We both had a bacon cheeseburger with fries and slaw. The buns were real soft and buttery, meat was cooked just right. The French fries were good as well. I've had better Cole slaw but who cares. All this with a drink was $14 and change. I thought it was kinda high on the price, however, I will say it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. I guess that's worth the price. Service was fast and efficient with friendly staff. The dinning room was kinda worn and rustic. Kinda outdated, but again, who cares. We came there to eat a burger, not impress a first date. Place sucks! customer service terrible! 5 times I've been disappointed! I'm never going back there. Paid $14 for a meal that was wrong then the girl told I had to keep the burger and that's all she can do on march 4 @7pm I was so mad because I already had to come bring the food back and then the customer service was bad . this place has some delicious food, but I do have some issues with their staff/quality of service. I work from home and live just around the corner from this restaurant. sometimes I like to plan to stop here for lunch while I'm out running errand. I like that I can place my order through their app and specify that I plan to dine in at that point. I'm convinced however that the people reading the order ticket just do not read it and they miss the dine in part and automatically package my order for to go. This is for my visit on the evening of 01/02. While I received the wrong order, everyone was very apologetic when I brought it to the attention of the folks at the counter, and even the head cook came outside to personally apologize for the mixup. As I had already eaten the fries before I noticed the error I opted not to have it remade and instead picked the unwanted items off. It was a little frustrating but I know mistakes happen.
