Chili cheeseburger ex pickles, all fries and a side of gravy

Used drive thru ordered chili cheese burger extra pickles all fries and a side of gravy and it was great just what ordered and still smoking hot when I got home :)

    Double Bacon Cheeseburger 4/5 stars!

I typically order through drive thru but have never had an issue going inside. This place is a dying breed. Your classic non-chain diner, and it's an all American true diner without having to say it. Good form. The food, hot, fresh, not piping hot that lets you know someone's nuked your burgers, but hot in the fresh way. Excellent. The rundown from items I've had and usually get. Cheeseburger/Double Cheeseburger with Bacon - 4/5 stars Excellent, doesn't have mess running everywhere while you eat it, great quality sesame seed buns. It's classic American food at its best. Give me higher quality beef and ask me how I want it cooked and you'll earn that fifth star. Fries - 4/5 stars What's to say? Likely frozen, but served excellent and hot very single go. Could use some more seasoning. Chili Dogs/Hot Dogs - 2/5 stars Sorry, this is where I have to knock it back a few. They're your low quality Oscar Meyer tasting dogs that almost make you wish you were kid again and didn't know any better. A pity, would be excellent if on par with everything else - and guess what? I'd pay more than what they have these disasters listed for. Sometimes even the color of them makes you run away. All around killer service and a menu with mostly great food, they're one of the few hidden gems in Greer if you want great portions and a damn good burger without paying an arm and a leg. 4/5 stars.

Beef tips over rice and mixed veggies

Ate supper here tonight. Was very pleasantly surprised. I assumed it was a typical burger and chicken strip fast food place. WRONG! They have different specials every night but then a big menu to choose from. I had the hamburger steak plate with gravy and grilled onions, my husband had the beef tips and gravy special and my daughter had the kids steak fingers. We also LOVED that they were playing Christian music!! Our waitress was so friendly. We will definitely be back!!

Not a bad place, but very limited menu. Good for those who are craving a burger and fries, or in my case, a sandwich like a BLT. The staff was very nice and the restaurant had people coming in left and right. One downfall is not many sides to choose from. I was hoping for a more varied sides menu, but only had fries, onion rings, slaw, potato salad, rice and gravy and fried okra. Sweet potato casserole, greens, beans and some Mac n cheese would have been great, but overall if you're hungry (or HANGRY, LOL) this may be a spot for you to check out conveniently located on Wade Hampton in Greer.

FYI: this was taken after I attempted to scrap off the boat load of cheap mayo that soaked the bun.

A friend and I decided to give Pete's of Greer another try since our normal diner was closed for the 4th of July Vacation Week. He ordered the double chili cheese burger plate and a soft drink. I saw the Philly Cheesesteak listed at the top of the sandwiches. The food came out in 2-3 minutes. We both thought this was slightly odd. He enjoyed his fries and as much of the burger he could eat when the bread completely crumbled allowing the contents to fall everywhere -sort of telling that it might not be the freshest hamburger bun on Wade Hampton. The Philly I ordered was drenched in the worst tasting mayonnaise I have ever had. Child's portion of meat and a few onions and maybe a pepper slice. I ate 1/4 of the sandwich before pushing it away- feeling nauseated as if the salmonella was already cultivating in my gut. I have eaten sone pretty poor quality food in my life but I will honestly say it was very close if not the worst. The waitress was pleasant but the person responsible for clearing the tables tried to take the food away 3 times while my friend was eating and after I asked her for a doggy bag to take the 3/4 of the Philly back to my dogs. My friend finished his mush and hood fries and the waitress brought a box and the person budding the tables swished in to claim her prizes. While paying at the counter the young lady asked how was everything? I said "Honestly that was the worst thing I have ever tasted.". Her response was "oh, I'm sorry to hear that, your total is $23.32, would you like to add a tip to that?". I should give this place a 1 Star but at least my friends fries were hot. Definitely will not be back. ¡Nada!

Table was sticky. Waitress was super friendly and helpful with us. The food there reminds me of my childhood and was absolutely amazing!

There is a sign at The Southern Growl that reads, in effect, that if your pet or your child…read moreproduces waste on the premises, you are expected to clean it up. I read it three times, not because I misunderstood it, but because I wanted to confirm that it listed pets and children in that order, which it did, and that tells you something about the sequence of problems they've encountered on the lawn, though I've decided not to find out what exactly. With that said, the lawn is not exactly a lawn at all, unless you consider granite rocks as a lawn, which the residents of Elberton, Georgia do as it is considered the "Granite Capital of the World." Elberton this is not. This rocky lawn is to be filled with Bichon Frisés and children in ball caps, and on the afternoon I visited it was doing exactly that. There was a dog near the covered bar area moving through the patio with the serenity of an animal who has never once been told that other people exist. His owner stood nearby holding a beer and looking proud, which is a face I recognized, because I have a son and have stood next to him with that exact expression at least twice in public places where I should have known better. I had the Radiant Positivity, a sour ale at 6%, which sounds like something printed above a middle school guidance counselor's desk but turned out to be genuinely good, all grapefruit and a tartness that knew when to stop. I thought about ordering the Kamp Jam, a 4% light lager described as tasting like shared laughter and the unbreakable bonds of friendship, and decided I wasn't there yet. The owners opened this place in 2014 and have expanded it three times since, which tells you something about Greer that it probably already knows about itself but that the rest of the area is still catching up on. Consequentially, Greer itself has also expanded its waistline 3 times since 2014 but that's a discussion for another time. I ordered a second beer, the Howler Bock, a Helles Bock that the bartender described in terms I didn't fully follow but nodded along to, the way you nod at a doctor who is explaining something you've already decided to accept. It was malty and quieter than the Radiant Positivity, the kind of beer you drink while thinking about something else, which is not an insult. I thought about asking about the Southern Sanctum, an American Tripel, but the afternoon had reached the evening and a point where a Tripel felt like a commitment that deserved more deliberation than I had left in me. I paid my tab, which was reasonable in a way that surprised me given the quality of everything, said goodbye to nobody in particular, and drove home thinking about the Kamp Jam, and whether the unbreakable bonds of friendship were something I'd get to eventually.

Ngl, I'm jealous Greer gets this place over Greenville! Best beer menu in the Upstate, and I love…read moretheir Barrel-aged beers! We need more of these around here. The food is also incredible! I got their classic chicken sandwich, but the scallion aioli stole the show. Easily the best dipping sauce around here. I would say try any beer that appeals to you, and you won't be disappointed. Tried the Earl Of The Abbey first, and wow. A beer with earl grey tea is new for me, but works phenomenally well. Plus the service is also great! Casey, Abby, and Bob were all nice, knowledgeable, and friendly. Give this place a try if you want a relaxing drink, good food, a family-friendly spot, or just an excuse to get out. You won't be disappointed.

That said, I usually visit during off hours to avoid the dinner rush so maybe that plays into it. Service has always been good for me. I absolutely LOVE the house salad with ranch dressing. It's so good that sometimes I actually crave it and just have to go there! I usually get the 6oz sirloin because it's just enough food for me and it's always great- cooked just right- very tender (usually always better than steaks I've had at Texas Road House). All the different cuts I've tried have been good, but I tend to like the sirloin better than some of the fancier cuts that I've tried there. I've taken out of town guests here and they loved it too. The only complaint I have is that in January I recommended my out of town sister order my mom a $50 gift certificate from here, which she did, but it never showed up. I felt responsible because my sister seemingly wasted her money on my suggestion. Disappointing because my mom also loves to eat here (she gets the shrimp and fish platter) but I'm not sure if my sister followed up on it or not. That's my reason for four stars instead of five. She was really looking forward to getting that certificate.
