This was a really good experience. Jessica took care of us from ordering to serving. She was outstanding!!! The food was really good. It was a nice presentation and tasted great. The coconut cream pie had flavor of cocoon every bite. They have indoor and outdoor seating and lots of it. They have several places to order drinks throughout the seating areas. This was very nice and comfortable. read more

My wife and I made our fourth or fifth brunch trip to Southern Grown in Greer, SC. (If you're driving down Wade Hampton, pass the Home Depot and Lowe's, and get to the QT-Walgreens-Spinx-Taco Bell intersection, turn north and you're nearly there.) The original location, further south behind the Hibachi Cafe, was "cozy" (real estate agent-speak for "small"), but this new venue is large, wide open, and has both a covered patio and outdoor seating. Laminated menus are available at the door, but you'll need to walk toward the back, get in line, and order at the bar. The staff is pretty quick, and the menu is succinct enough that the line usually moves fast. After ordering, you're given a coaster-pager and can find a picnic-table-like place to sit. I usually get a burger, but this time I went with the Classic Chicken Sandwich, $12.50. It's a generous panko-encrusted breast with lettuce, tomato, and some fine dill pickles. Tender and juicy with a good crunch. My wife got the Classic Burger, $15. This big ol' burger is a thick Angus patty with American AND mozzarella cheese and dill pickles. I got the really good, hand-cut, crispy fries; my wife opted for the house potato chips. Either side is a great choice, so we shared. Our lunch guests shared their House Pretzel with us. Each comes with a side of beer cheese and maple dark mustard, $9. The pretzel alone is worth the ride out there. Warm and soft on the inside, with a hard--almost tough--authentic German-style crust. The two sauces are equally great, and both were also very good with my fries after we fought over the last bits of the pretzel. Our two Diet Cokes were remarkably cheap for these days: $1.85 each. I suddenly thought it was 1994 again! JUST BECAUSE it was October, we got the pumpkin cheesecake. My wife made a very wise decision. It was more like a whipped pumpkin pie than a cheesecake in consistency, with an oat crust and a sprinkle of brown sugar and whipped cream on top. I could have eaten two more slices of this sweet, light dessert, but at $7 a slice, I held back. With Greer's hospitality tax and SC sales tax, our bill came to $45.33. We've only gone to the new location for after-church brunch, so I'm not sure if the menu changes radically from week to week. The menus have limited dates at the top, so I'm guessing there's some item rotation. I've heard the dinner menu includes a bratwurst, which I'd love to try. Overall, it's an easy place to drop in and grab a higher-end sandwich. Side note: Years ago, we tried the place when it was behind the Hibachi Cafe. The server was annoyed with me because I didn't understand a question, and that spoiled any thought of trying the place again. I recall a soup being rather nice, but I felt like I was a mere annoyance. It's sad, but it doesn't take much to turn customers away. I'm glad my wife wanted to try it again at this new location. She is far wiser than I am read more

We like this place. I especially love the cheeseburgers and the homemade chips. The beer is great here. Service is alright. Since it's a buzzer operation you don't talk to many worker folks. No waiters or anything. Pastries are good too. Recommend the cookies! It gets VERY VERY VERY crowded here. Unless you want to sit outside, don't come here when there's a lot of cars outside. There's not that many inside table options. It would be nice if they added more. read more

There is a sign at The Southern Growl that reads, in effect, that if your pet or your child produces waste on the premises, you are expected to clean it up. I read it three times, not because I misunderstood it, but because I wanted to confirm that it listed pets and children in that order, which it did, and that tells you something about the sequence of problems they've encountered on the lawn, though I've decided not to find out what exactly. With that said, the lawn is not exactly a lawn at all, unless you consider granite rocks as a lawn, which the residents of Elberton, Georgia do as it is considered the "Granite Capital of the World." Elberton this is not. This rocky lawn is to be filled with Bichon Frisés and children in ball caps, and on the afternoon I visited it was doing exactly that. There was a dog near the covered bar area moving through the patio with the serenity of an animal who has never once been told that other people exist. His owner stood nearby holding a beer and looking proud, which is a face I recognized, because I have a son and have stood next to him with that exact expression at least twice in public places where I should have known better. I had the Radiant Positivity, a sour ale at 6%, which sounds like something printed above a middle school guidance counselor's desk but turned out to be genuinely good, all grapefruit and a tartness that knew when to stop. I thought about ordering the Kamp Jam, a 4% light lager described as tasting like shared laughter and the unbreakable bonds of friendship, and decided I wasn't there yet. The owners opened this place in 2014 and have expanded it three times since, which tells you something about Greer that it probably already knows about itself but that the rest of the area is still catching up on. Consequentially, Greer itself has also expanded its waistline 3 times since 2014 but that's a discussion for another time. I thought about asking about the Southern Sanctum, an American Tripel, but the afternoon had reached the evening and a point where a Tripel felt like a commitment that deserved more deliberation than I had left in me. I paid my tab, which was reasonable in a way that surprised me given the quality of everything, said goodbye to nobody in particular, and drove home thinking about the Kamp Jam, and whether the unbreakable bonds of friendship were something I'd get to eventually. read more

Ngl, I'm jealous Greer gets this place over Greenville! Best beer menu in the Upstate, and I love their Barrel-aged beers! We need more of these around here. The food is also incredible! I got their classic chicken sandwich, but the scallion aioli stole the show. Easily the best dipping sauce around here. I would say try any beer that appeals to you, and you won't be disappointed. Tried the Earl Of The Abbey first, and wow. A beer with earl grey tea is new for me, but works phenomenally well. Plus the service is also great! Casey, Abby, and Bob were all nice, knowledgeable, and friendly. Give this place a try if you want a relaxing drink, good food, a family-friendly spot, or just an excuse to get out. You won't be disappointed. read more

4mile hike to North lake every two months followed by a surprise but tasty meal, every single time! Not too shabby, is it? This time, it was miso mushroom melt and tempeh sandwich with goat cheese fritters, mocktail: Calm Before. As always, sandwiches were so flavorful and tasty. The only thing that I would change is the mocktail volume. More ice and less mocktail for $9 didn't quite fit the bill. Service and ambiance as usual consistent, efficient and lively. Can't wait to come back for the new menu!!! read more

Decided to go here for dinner one night with family that was visiting & it was great! Trying to figure out the service though, was a little confusing at first. It's hard to tell who works there and where to go. You have to scan a QR code to view the menu & then go order inside. You get a buzzer that tells you when your food is ready then. It's just a different system, but very efficient! We had outdoor patio seating, where there's good heating, even on a chilly night. The string lights gave the place a nice aesthetic feel too & it was a cozy environment! The food is also great & I loved that they had a tofu sandwich for non-meat eaters! It was very flavorful, but a little spicy. There must have been some peppers that I missed seeing. Sweet potato fries were also yummy! The portion size was perfect. Would definitely love to go back here! read more

What an amazing place!! We just moved to this area and we have already visited at least 10 times. We go once or twice a week, the food is amazing and their craft beverage choices are awesome. They have an excellent selection of food choices with some funky cool menus specials. There are at least 20 craft beer and beverage choices and their desserts are delicious! Dine inside, dine on the patio or dine in there very cool outdoor area. It is an excellent place to bring the kids and grandkids. Special thanks to manager Michelle, who makes every visit enjoyable and to Enijah in the kitchen for making everything delicious. read more

What a great place. Fantastic beer, great service, and an amazing atmosphere. I live in Texas and the craft beer scene there is very strong. This is our favorite brewery in town. It is so fun with a large outdoor area with SO much seating. There's also a ton of seating inside if the weather is bad. They change the menu weekly and also offer brunch on the weekends. The beer flights are a must try. We love taking our family here when they visit. Their burgers are my favorite. We come here often and always have a blast. It is very family friendly and they allow dogs outdoors. The servers are great and they even come around outside to take your dirty plates and glasses. read more

Keep getting gluten poisoned by cross contamination. Don't think I can eat here anymore.

If you're going to have someone work the front to take orders, a friendly staff member would be nice. As a first timer, we misunderstood the menu and you could obviously tell it made her annoyed right off the bat. Instead of explaining it, she was snarky and took everything in us not to just walk out. So feeling rushed, had to order off a whole separate menu we didn't have time to review. Crazy, because the reviews always rave about the place but the experience could've definitely been better. The food was great for the better part of it. Wings were crispy. Not many options on sauces. The burger was a good size and fries weren't overcooked or greasy. The inside is spacious, and the seating outside is great. Pet friendly outdoors as well, which is a plus. read more

My brother and his family routinely visit The Southern Growl. We visited for a special occasion as my nephew graduated college. The Growl is a huge space for indoor and outdoor dining but always packed. The staff provide good service with a smile, especially if you are a regular customer. The menu is bar food with a few different twists. I ordered the peanut butter and jelly wings. Very good! Large, meaty wings to boot. I was impressed with the sweet potato fries. Waffle fires at that. The hamburgers look good. Decent selection of in house and regional brews. I am not a big IPA fan, but I enjoyed the cold Howler Bock. It reminded me of Shiner Bock. Always a fun time people watching the yuppies, hippies, bikers, old folks, and families interact in this eclectic brewery/restaurant. read more

What a great place! This was our second time coming for brunch, and we'll definitely go back again! The staff is really nice and caring, and the good came out really fast! Honestly, it was so fast that our pickle dip came out the same time as the entree, so we didn't really get to eat it hot. Next time, we'll order in stages. The food is excellent. The recipes are creative, though be ready as there is a little heat from the chorizo! Everything was well cooked and fair portions. The slaw was interesting as it had a more earthy taste, and we thought it might have been sesame seeds and oil? I wish I had seen the pepperoni rolls they had at the register because they looked amazing. Their beer is top notch and they have a really wide variety. The Weiss Decision is my favorite! My friend also got the Starry Night drink, and it was delicious, well mixed, and really balanced in the flavors (not too mention how pretty it was). For dessert, house made, fresh chocolate chip cookies!! There large and so delicious. Since we were there early in the day, they were even still warm!!! read more

We visit here every time visiting family in Taylors, Greer, and Greenville. It was decent bar food, with some twists, and beer etc is usually pretty good. However, not sure what happened to the food quality but this last visit was poor. The service and method for ordering is fine. The layout is really nice inside or out, parking is awesome. And they seem to allow community events there. First they poured the wrong drink for my wife. Had to go back up to correct, which was done no questions asked. Then the food. The coleslaw just didn't work for me. My wife's chicken sandwich was honestly disgusting, like fried in fish oil, super thin and tasteless other than the off taste from whatever it was prepared in. Not sure we would eat there again, and just eat a t Culver's, and have a beer at S Growl. read more

Tried to go for a Mother's Day brunch yesterday (05/11/25). We got there and although the restaurant was fairly busy, we were seated right away. I stood in line to order food for about 40 minutes, by the time I made it to the front of the line I discovered what was taking so long. They were sold out of all of the brunch items by 12:00. Did they bother to alert their customers? No. Did they amend the menus that they were handing out? Also no. They just tell you when you get to the front of the line, forcing you to find the rest of your party (who are back reserving your table so that it doesn't get taken) to make new choices. After I ordered it was another 45 minutes before the food came out. And when it came out, ice cold and completely inedible. I have had better experiences in the past, but yesterday was a clusterfuck of poor planning and absolutely terrible decision making by the management. read more

Bathrooms were fine. If you're looking for a cafeteria, self-service style establishment with subpar food, this is your place. If you desire hot food, go elsewhere, because the food ordered, which should've be hot, was inedible. Even asked for a steak knife, and they sent a bus boy to cut meat with a dinner knife, because they don't give sharp knives to customers. We specifically phoned ahead of time to see if the NFL games were being aired, and were told, "yes." That was not accurate. All they were showing were NFL game day updates /recaps. Met some other anice folks there. The gentleman said, "if you want decent meal other than a burger, don't order from here. Leave!" Drinks were warm. Not cold. Outdoor section was quite lovely. read more

Great food and great service! My husband and I meet there sometimes for a meal and to visit with the nice people there.

First time here. After standing at the host Stand for a minute we needed to make our way to the bar to order. So the concept is unique. You can start a tab and order beer and drinks and grab a table until they page you. The Brussel sprouts would be 100% better if it wasn't goey and drowned in all the sauces. The sauce took all the crispness out of it. Fries were super crispy and are hand cut! Chicken sandwich also delicious!
