A great little spot right by Chimney Rock. They have a few local beers and ciders & a variety of food options. I enjoyed a Philly cheesesteaks, pretzel and quesadilla. You order at the bar and pick up at a little window outside. The folks work g there were friendly and th ere is only outdoor seating which is limited and in 3 levels, but it's perfect to get a view of the river and to get your feet in the water off you'd like. Our group of kids loved it. After a while they also had live music outside which was really nice.

Beer was very tasty, but the view was the draw to this place with a patio on the River. A live band added to the incredibly relaxing atmosphere. Counter service only, which created semi long lines to get your beer.

First time here since it became chimney rock brewing company and still one of the best views you can have while drinking a beer! They have a bunch of different local brews on tap, and they do offer food. We just came for the beer and view. Kid and dog friendly

    Nice view....

I stopped by Hickory Nut Gorge Brewing yesterday while in the area. It's a small brewery in Chimney Rock that is nestled amongst other store fronts on the main road. I practically drove past it missing the sign out front. Due to the Covid issue, you order the beer from the window in front but, you can take your order and sit inside or on the deck over looking which over looks the Broad River. I just found it slightly weird doing that. Anyway, I had a pint of the Eagle Rock Pale Ale and pint of the Scuba Juice IPA. Both were very good. The pale ale had a subtle hoppy ness to it and finished dry on the tongue. The Scuba Juice was a hazy style IPA that had strong citrus notes. It was very refreshing. Overall the two beers I had here were very good. The view sitting outside is quite nice. You can take your beer down to the riverside and hangout there or stay on the deck. The rolling sounds of the running water adds to the relaxing atmosphere here. They do sell cans and growlers to go I believe. Definitely check the place out if your traveling through the Chimney Rock / Bat Cave area.

First time here was Oct 2022 with 2 friends. Beautiful local brewery right on the river. Great craft been and really good food. I got the coffee stout and my 2 friends both got the wheat beer. We also got the pretzels with beer cheese dip and the pork nachos. Both were awesome and I had 2 stouts as I'm a dark beer person. This will be added to the list of places to return to.

After a few days in Asheville, we traveled down to Brevard for the rest of our stay. We took the scenic route and toured Chimney Rock State Park. But before climbing to the top of Chimney Rock we stopped for a light lunch at Hickory Nut Gorge Brewery. Right outside the entrance to the park, sits a number of small shops and restaurants. The brewery is right there off of the main road through town. Orders are placed at a window (though that might just be a COVID protocol). From there you grab a seat at any of a number of tables that overlook the Broad River. Food was quickly delivered to our table. My wife and I split the pulled pork nachos topped with slow-smoked pork, bacon, beer cheese, sour cream, spring onions, and your choice of BBQ sauce ($12). These were delicious! The pork was well-flavored and combined well with the beer cheese and sauce. Our kids enjoyed the cheddar and mozzarella cheese quesadilla ($8) and the Bavarian pretzels with beer cheese ($7). The beer was pretty good, the only IPA's available during our visit were the English IPA and the Hazy IPA. I went with the English, and while not my preferred style, it was a good beer, malty and a bit of hops. But the view that I had while I enjoyed this beer was top-notch! The kids also enjoyed getting their feet wet in the river before and after their meals. So much that my wife and I were able to enjoy a second round of beers!

We have been coming here for sometime. With the resent new owners taking over the place has gone from a place for a beer and a view to a place for a beer, food and a view. The previous owners had food, but it was just bar food. Don't get me wrong this is not fine dining but the new food compliments the beer they serve. It's really nice to have a option to go to a brewery at 11am on a Monday for a cold one and food. It's especially nice that they are open 7 days a week! The views are spectacular and the staff is very helpful. We will be back soon. Keep the good things coming! Cheers !

Awesome spot after a hike. Direct access to the river where you can dip your toes or your dogs paws while enjoying some legit brews and tasty bbq and look up at Chimney Rock. I got the pulled pork sandwich and I was extremely pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meat. It was really juicy on an awesome brioche bun. Come hang out!

Nice staff, tasty beer, delicious food and a beautiful view!! We had the brussels and the fall salad and several different beers. Definitely hope to return. The town itself is also very charming.

We stopped by this cute little local brewery on the way to Ashville. The ambiance was 5 stars for me. So relaxing and very laid back. This is a place I would love to spend my next vacation. Its located across the mountain and the sound of the river is so relaxing. Food was great too! We ordered the beer, pretzels and wings. The only reason I am giving this place 4 stars is because there was a part that did not look safe which was the foundation of the building where there was a swing and I wish they could fix it.

Best chicken wings EVER!!! Add a nice choice of beer on tap, incredibly beautiful outdoor sitting area on the River, great quick service and friendly staff ... we just love this place! OH and you can also have fun watching their resident groundhog, a wide variety of birds and more!

My Smokehouse Burger was not only massive, but also dripping with BBQ flavor, with the crisp onion rings adding a delicious texture to the perfectly cooked patty. My wife enjoyed the restaurant's signature Riverwatch Burger -- a more traditional choice that was just as large and almost as delicious. Riverwatch says it serves the best burgers in North Carolina, and it's hard to argue with that claim. There are nearly two dozen different burgers on the menu, and they all look amazing. If burgers aren't your thing, the restaurant also serves salads, sandwiches, hot dogs and other fare. But they're famous for their burgers, so find one that fits your taste and dive in. The beer selection here is also terrific, with a number of local and regional NC crafts on tap and in bottles. And the service on our recent visit was outstanding. Seating is available outside or on the spacious deck overlooking the Broad River, which is a great place to enjoy a good meal and a fantastic view of the Hickory Nut Gorge and the distinctive Chimney Rock, towering high above the valley. Like much of this area, Riverwatch endured traumatic damage during Hurricane Helene, but reopened in September 2025. Well worth the drive from anywhere in North or South Carolina!

At the time we didn't realize that Roberta Flack was born in Black Mountain and the mural on the side of the historic building was in fact Roberta! When you step inside it is cozy and comfortable but we could see there was a large outdoor space as well. I stopped in at the counter and decided to order a pint of their Hazy IPA. We wandered to the outdoor space which is two levels, we explored the upstairs area first since there was a thunderstorm we thought it would be cool to watch the rain and lightning while sipping on a cold beer. We also learned there was a food trailer at the back of the property, which looks to be a permanent resident. They offer items such as pulled pork, poutine, brisket, and more. We ended up chatting with other customers and had a really enjoyable afternoon. We enjoyed our time at Black Mountain Brewing and will absolutely be back!

I had a flight with the steam beer, pale ale, West Coast IPA, and barleywine. Everything was on point and very well made. My friend had the American Lager and we also tried the Czech-style lager, which ended up being my favorite.
