Burning Blush Brewery is a must visit if you're in the area. We stopped by after a hike on our way back to Asheville, and it was the perfect way to wind down. The vibe is a unique mix of medieval and gothic. The space itself is beautiful, with a good outdoor area and is conveniently located right off of the road. What a great little brewery! Beautifully decorated inside with more of a medieval, gothic vibe with large wooden tables. Super laidback. Plenty of outdoor seating as well. Good beer selection on tap. Ciders will always be my favorite, and they also had 3 delicious ciders on tap as well. They usually have a food truck outside. We were here with the Toasted Cuban - tasty Cuban sandwich. Their building and tasting room are truly original, beautiful decor inside and a cool patio area, they have huge tables inside as well as one "round" table that looks like knights would sit at. This beautiful brewery, in Mills River, is set in a unique space that evokes Victorian, gothic vibes. Taking its name from a poem by Edgar Allan Poe, Burning Blush draws you in with its inviting ambiance, friendly service, and flavorful brews. The aforementioned poem, 'Song', recounts Poe's longing for a former lover. In myriad letters, he ends up penning poetic prose in which he expresses his profound love for her. However, unbeknownst to him, said letters never reach her, as they are intercepted by her parents. Poe paints the picture poignantly, as he waxes poetically about the "burning blush" that appears upon her silky smooth skin, when she learns of her former paramour's love letters. The brewmaster originally wanted to be a pharmacist, but he decided to veer off the well-traveled path and study brewing in England instead. Upon his return, there were only seven breweries in Asheville. After helping open Birds Fly South in Greenville, South Carolina, he joined forces with his family to found the space within which you are now sitting. The beers on offer here compare well vis-à-vis the best you'll find in AVL. My favorite thus far is the Square Your Luck juicy IPA. If you're visiting on a nice day, there's an expansive outdoor seating area to enjoy. While they don't serve food, Burning Blush does have a rotating cast of food trucks on site. On my most recent visit, I had the All American Burger from Milk & Honey. I haven't tasted a better burger in months. Unfortunately, as with most places that don't offer food from their own kitchen, the quality of the food truck on site varies widely. For example, I had a bratwurst, from a German themed truck recently, that was almost inedible. Hopefully, they'll start vetting food trucks more thoroughly, going forward, in order to provide a more consistent dining experience. The next time you find yourself in Asheville, I highly recommend making the short drive to Mills River to experience this unique brewery. read more

After a day of hiking and waterfall hunting at the Pisgah National Forest, we were famished and looking for a place for a quick bite before heading home. This place was conveniently on our way home. It had stood out to us on our drive there because of the neat building, so I remembered to look for it as we decided where to eat. We then found out it was just a brewery, but that they often have food trucks and did that night. Upon entering, we were pleasantly surprised. This place is massive! It also has amazing decor, awesome artwork, and really neat tables including one in the center that is round and looks like something that's meant for knights to sit at. We went outside and ordered a burger and fries from the food truck, which ended up being very good. As far as the brewery, she got a cider and I got an IPA and both were great! The glasses are pretty cool. They also have a small wine selection. All of the workers were also very friendly and helpful. If we ever head this way again, I think we'll definitely be stopping in again! read more

Following the Easter service at Unity of the Blue Ridge, this was a great spot to grab an afternoon beer and a comfortable outdoor dining option featuring a revolving selection of food trucks. We lucked out with a lobster roll and stuffed avocado treat. The Memory In A Melody brew was delicious! They opened their doors back in December 2019 just before the pandemic closed them again. Stopped here after church Sunday, October 23rd. Really interesting place and the CEO of Ingles also works here. Good beer selection and awesome sandwiches from the Deli Volv food truck. I the Italian sandwich with slaw and it was quite delicious. They had about 15 beers on tap. They also have a very spacious interior and a really nice area to sit outside. And dogs are welcome here. My brother who is local stopped by for a beer on a Friday afternoon and wondered why it wasn't crowded especially after trying our 1st beer, "Silent Narrator" a Franconian Lager...It was so good!! We both love true German Lagers and this place had a ratio of 3 lagers to 1 IPA. What a nice change, who needs over hopped alcohol "juicy" ales lol.. we had a Dunkelbock lager for 2nd choice. It was a foamy chocolate milkshake of flavor. The legs and head laced the sides of the glass as the beer was consumed. This environment is really neat! The building was converted into a brewery with an Edgar Allen Poe theme. The exterior appeared to be stone with large wooden doors. The interior featured murals and decor related to Poes work. A large wooden table with really large king styled chairs sat in the middle of the room with other seating scattered throughout. The bar was huge and covered a large portion of one wall. Moving outdoors, there was a ton of picnic tables with umbrellas scattered throughout the space. It was dog friendly so we were able to sit towards the back to stay out of the way of other people with pups. It was large enough to let our kiddo run around as well. There was a food truck available for dinner so we ordered from there. There was no food otherwise. When my husband went to order his beer, the staff members were really engaging and offered our pups dog treats. What a beautiful front entrance and even more great detail inside of this place. Everything from the center table chairs, large ceiling fan and all of the painted art on the walls...this place definitely created a cool atmosphere. We visited this brewery during our week long trip to Pisgah with our two German shorthair pointers. Our hike was rained out, though we attempted it anyway. After aborting the hike due to weather, we decided to look for a place to get a mid-day beer. We looked at a couple breweries, even drove to Sierra Nevada Brewery. SN was disappointing since their outdoor area was not covered nor open for service apparently. We then went to Burning Blush to check it out. This was also one of few places open at noon (and it was a weekday). Lucky for us, they allow pups inside, which was a plus given the weather. The place was quiet but as I said, was a weekday with terrible weather. The beers were great, the food truck was amazing, and the staff were very kind. They gave our pups a few biscuits (which they loved). My dogs are my kids, so I'm happy to have found this place! Def recommend if traveling with furry friends! If you're looking for a homegrown departure from the booming craft brew scene in Asheville, Burning Blush is a fantastic brewery to check out! Their sweeping indoor space is bright, airy, and gives you a view into their brewing room. Their bar is classic vintage, sourced from Chicago during prohibition! The service was fantastic, and our bartender let us sample multiple different drafts while providing us with her own recommendations and thoughts on each beer. Their food truck outside is also innovative and delicious: I mean, where else can you find a hibachi food truck?? I ended up getting the amber ale, and it turned out to be absolutely delicious! You wouldn't realize that the ABV is 9%, because it drinks so smoothly! I would love to come back here again sometime and maybe take a tour of the brewing room and try more of the beers! read more

I spoke with the brewer and he told me that he really liked ales. Based on the beer selection, I would say he was speaking the truth. He really likes ales. And you will, too! He obviously pours is knowledge and love of the craft into the beers he makes. The brewery is an open space with picnic tables inside and out, providing an inviting, dog friendly atmosphere with a clear view of all the brewing vessels. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable to a point, and when that fails they are happy to go get the brewer to provide answers. Huge glasses and great prices make this place totally affordable. A good truck positioned at the front of the building provides a limited dining opportunity. This place is a little off the beaten Asheville beer path, but there are a few in the general area to pair it up with. I recommend you try it out. read more

Best Octoberfest i have had outside of Paulaner...in munich during Octoberfest... Think real crisp Alts, Kolsch and Czech Pils. They are all EXCELLENT. This place is absolutely barbaric. Arrived on a Wednesday evening at 6.30pm and there were 50-60 screaming children running riot throughout the indoor taproom and outer beer garden - running up and down, shrieking, treating the water dispenser as a toy and showing no regard for being in an adult space. It felt like a leisure centre. The parents were just as bad - completely ignoring their children and also talking at maximum volume. We had to slam our beers and leave because the experience was so unpleasant, which was a shame as the beers were good. Also, who invests in 10 Lukr taps (which cost approx $400) only to turn their space into daycare? Appalling. read more

Can't say enough about this brewery. Love the setting, love the architecture, love the service but most of all love the beer. As a huge fan of pure clean beers, you cannot go wrong with any of the brews here. In a market where hazy IPA's and milkshake IPA's dominate, it's a joy to be able to drink a true German or Czech lager or Helles. Their collabs are top notch and we love it when BB works with a Charlotte brewery so we can get it locally. Thankfully a day trip is not a stretch so we can make the journey every few months to the BB brewery. Find a sunny day and relax in the beer garden with a delicious draft. This place is a bit off the beaten path (especially if you're going on an AVL beer tour), but if you have access to a car on your trip it's a necessary stop! Burning blush took their theme and ran with it, and spared no expense in their set up. Not a crazy amount of decor but is a beautiful space- a great painted wall, beautiful bar with stained glass, and even a round table. Would be a great place for a game night or trivia so will likely be going back for that- the beer (such a solid selection - highly recommend the self-muted lager) is just an added bonus. read more

I normally drink IPAs but tried "A Few Frills" (a west coast hoppy lager), and it was really good. We also had A Salute to Yorkshire and Square Your Luck; all tasty. We ordered from the Olive catering food truck, and both the Shrimp and Avocado Salad and the grilled cheese we ordered were delicious. You can bring in your own food too.
