We did the tour and were really into it except the forced "ecological initiative" talking points. As can be expected in Asheville. Tour guide told us they sell their spent hops and grains to farmers feeding cattle, hilarious when you consider every other brewery does that. During a trip to Asheville, NC, I stopped by for a tour of the Sierra Nevada Brewery and Taproom. It's a modern facility that is spacious and impressive. This is the East Coast headquarters for the company which sparked the craft beer revolution in the U.S. (its original HQ is in Chico, CA). My friends and I came here for drinks and food. Huuugeee place! So cool was not expecting this at all. There's a ton of things to indoor and outdoors. We didn't make reservations but we put our name down for one when we got there and then just got drinks and snacks in the meantime. They have a limited menu option for if you're not sitting down. I recommend getting a table though so you can get the full menu. We shared the chicken wings which are crazy small but you can strip the meat right off the bone! Perfect bite size. Took a long weekend up to Asheville and had to stop in here. It is so close to the airport you almost have to drive through it to get to town. Beautiful campus! You can tell they spent a lot of money and time to set this place up. Large dinning area. Got a table easily. Perused the beer and food menu. Got a flight of the beer. Sierra Nevada Taproom exceeded our expectations! This was a recommendation from a local when we were visiting Asheville. Let me say that this is the best food that I've ever had at a brewery! My son, husband, and I visited on a Monday for a late lunch and were seated right away. Our server was patient as we tried to figure out what we wanted. My son fully enjoyed the meatballs! My husband and I shared the one of the seasonal salads and the burger. Both were excellent! We couldn't pass up the fries and honestly, I could have eaten these by myself. Crispy and salty on the outside and tender on the inside. We ended the meal with bread pudding which I would highly recommend. On, we can't forget the beer! My husband had a flight and I sipped on a light beer. Service was superb. Don't forget to check out the outside area behind the taproom. There are some relaxing sitting areas and it's a beautiful place to chill. There is a short walking trail, but it was closed when we visited in November 2025. My family and I visited Sierra Nevada Taproom while vacationing in the Asheville area. When we drove up to the entrance we were welcomed with a beautiful drive up to the brewery which, surprisingly, was much larger than any of us expected. Before we sat down for dinner at the restaurant, we decided to walk up to the second floor for the self guided tour. If you don't participate in a guided tour, I highly recommend a self guided tour at least. You will really get an appreciation for the size of the facility and everything that is offered here. Be sure to make it all the way to the end where you will find the packaging area. Since we didn't sign up for the guided tour we didn't participate in a tasting. Instead once we sat down at the restaurant, several of us ordered a flight of beers. We ordered a total of 3 flights all with different beers, so we were able to taste a total of 12 beers. As part of our entertainment, we decided as a table that we would do a taste test and rate each beer. For dinner we ordered 3 pepperoni pizzas which was perfect for the 6 of us. The pizza was good. It wasn't too thin and it wasn't too thick. After dinner we walk on the back patio which again was huge and looked like a fun place. They had a big bonfire going which added to the ambiance. This is our yearly (or sometimes bi-yearly?) tradition, always in conjunction with our October trip to Asheville...whether it be the Blueridge Parkway, Downtown Asheville, or Cherokee. My husband loves their beer...and we both love their foods. Truly, to date, this place hasn't let us down. This time, however, I did notice that the menu seemed smaller than usual? Still, whatever they have, we trust them to be amazing. This time, we both decided to try their Pale Ale Burger...and as anticipated, they were stellar! I absolutely loved how crisp-yet-soft the buns were, and the patty tasted so good! Now, if you prefer those greasy burgers, this is not for you. Luckily, I hate greasy burgers...so this fresher, crispier burger was perfect for me! We loved their Duck Fat Fries as well. I've always referred to this place as the "Biltmore of breweries". From the long drive way to the huge and amazing facility; this place has it all. I humbly believe that no trip to Asheville is complete unless you've been here and I will die on that hill. Food is fantastic, beer is better than you'd expect (since it is widely available nationally) and service is attentive and knowledgeable. Made a trip to do a brewery tour all the way from Greenville SC. Tour was fun, beer tasting set up in a tasteful manner and the tour guide very pleasant and unhurried. Ambiance at the taproom 10/10, food: pizza decent, pimento cheese and chips not so much. Service not sure why, but there were two menus, one for patio (picture outdoors, beautiful views, nice setting, comfortable seating) and one for inside. Patio menu was very sparse, very afterthought-ish but same prices. That was mildly annoying, especially after the light buzz from the 'hazy little thing' etc... We moved to the east coast from California and my husband went to school in Chico. When we discovered the other Sierra Nevada was close to Asheville we had to go. I am sad that we didn't have enough time to book a brewery tour, but it is definitely something we will do next time. We started off with a pretzel and beer cheese. The pretzel was soft and chewy. The beer cheese was good enough, but not the best beer cheese I had ever had. This place still gets 5/5 rating. My husband had the house pizza (I didn't get a picture) and I had the pale ale burger. I have never eaten a burger with pub cheese on it before but I would happily only eat this burger for the rest of my life if I could find the pub cheese (or make it...is there's recipe?). This burger was a 20/10. My husband rates the pizza 20/10. It was all that good. I ordered the big little thing loaded s'mores for dessert and it was amazing. Peanut butter, fudge, potato chips...there is some genius behind whomever invented this recipe. I tried a pint of the Weizenbock and very highly recommend this flavor profile. It is not a sweet beer but has a sweet flavor and I don't know how to better explain this. The flavor profile is banana,clove, fresh bread, and custard and it was perfection. My only complaint is that I cannot buy this anywhere. Service was very attentive. If you are wondering if you should head over to Mills River to see the brewery, do it. This place is amazing and fully lives up to the hype. In my mind I wrongly assumed a place this huge would be a cool tourist spot but lacking in food and I was definitely wrong! The food was excellent and despite only ordering a cheese pizza and a pretzel appetizer the server was no less attentive and friendly. He started asking if we had been there before and explaining how everything works. There's also an outdoor snack type menu and a place to get drinks outside. You can also sit upstairs. The grounds are stunning and spacious and as a parent my husband and I loved that they had a little closed in area for children with ample benches for parents and toys. I showed up on a Sunday for the 10am tour about 20 minutes early. I was the only car in the huge parking lot in the woods in front of this huge brewery. Walked in the tour entrance and the door was open (i thought they must be closed). I was greeted and asked for my name and they told me I could sit and wait or wander around the open public parts of the tour. About 9:59 Em came over and introduced herself and I discovered I was the only person on the tour! Started with a brief introduction of the brewery and an 8oz pour of Fat Tire and a short movie about the owner and beginning of Sierra Nevada. Then we started the tour. Since it was just me it seemed that we went i to a lot of areas the bigger tours would not normally go in which was very nice. Saw the tanks, the hop room, packing areas, etc. Sierra Nevada also has a nice setup where you can see a lot of the same areas from a free overhead walkway and self tour. Ended in the Barrel Bar for the included tastings. Got to taste some of the more rare beers and enjoyed all the tastings. Ended with giving me a glass souvenir. Overall, a nice location and layout but I thought the tour was a bit overpriced compared to the other big producer in town. But still if you are looking for something to do, I did the Beyond the Pale tour and it was decent. Em did a great job as well. read more

Right off the plane, we came to Sierra Nevada a bit after its 11am opening, and there were already a handful of people there. We didn't intend to spend too much time here, but we had such a nice time that we stayed about two hours. You can't beat the back area. There's lots of seating, a garden, fire pit, small kid play area, and lots of places for photo ops. The beer selection was huge! The backyard food menu is small but had some goodies, like a snack cup. (Great caramel popcorn!) Super clean and just a great vibe overall. Got tix to the Pale Ale tour for my bf's birthday and we loved it!! Our tour guide our was so fun and informative. Tour was very interesting and included 9 tastings!! 100% worth the money. We even got a free glass and keychain afterwards which I didn't know we would be getting! Went to the gift shop afterward and their prices were affordable and fair. We did the 10 am tour and finished around 11:30 (they open at 11). Already, the lobby was packed with a line waiting for available tables. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. I was blown away with everything. Starting with the entrance. The road there makes you feel like you're going completely away from the city. A secluded place. Esthetically, it's so beautiful from the outside. Everything is clean. I felt like I was arriving at a theme park for grown ups. I absolutely love that its family friendly They have a store which is great, self guided tours which was so nice do! As well as guided tours. A full on restaurant. A kids area. A concert area, a trail... the list goes on. So much to do here! I wish I lived close by because I would be here all the time. I wish more breweries looked like this. The food was good but I do wish they had ranch. I've never been to a place that didn't have ranch so that was the only let down. Service was good as well. We grabbed a beer at the taproom and then went and sat up on the deck upstairs overlooking the huge outdoor area. We will be heading back in the summer to see a concert! We went to the Taproom for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The place was packed but we were seated right away. The restaurant is huge but clean and relatively quiet. Outdoor seating is available as well. Our server (John) couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. Another great brewery with a gorgeous campus, restaurant and taproom in Asheville - my only complaint is that it isn't in Atlanta! You can only find Kellerweis on draft here now, which is one of my favorite Hefeweizens of all time - I was wondering where the cases had disappeared to! The backyard is huge and has an outdoor seating gorgeous theater space. You can order snacks and such on the patio but no real food. The full menu can be ordered inside or in the covered patio. Unfortunately not dog friendly in the covered patio, but allowed in the "backyard" area! If you're planning on enjoying a meal, be sure to leave your name with the host before you walk off to explore the brewery while you wait for your table, since there can be quite a wait when it's busy. You can walk around upstairs with a self guided tour of the brewery. Afterward, browse the gift shop for beers to take home or fun Sierra Nevada merch. Once we were seated at a table inside, we ordered several items to share and try. The chicken wings were trimmed and easy to eat without getting super messy. The Tom Kha clams were surprisingly tasty. The 1/3 lb Smash Burger was a picturesque meaty stand of meat, bread and cheese. The Hangar Steak was solid and we ended the meal with the decadent chocolate cherry bread pudding. We got way more than I was expecting from a brewery restaurant l - pleasantly surprised! It's a 4.5 for me. The complex is enormous. Like crazy big. It's a very cool place to visit. Huge production area, huge tap rooms, concert space, chill space, etc... they have it all. Two levels of event space in the building. We were extremely impressed. The food menu was interesting. I didn't score a 5 because of the food. Not that it wasn't good, but because the servings were so small. I had the Octoberfest Bratwurst. It was really good but extremely small portions. It looked like a single brat, a tablespoon of kraut, tablespoon of compote, a tablespoon of potatoes. Then a bunch of bread. My wife got wings and they had to be the smallest wings I've ever seen. It was all good, just tiny portions. If I get back again I will most definitely visit again. Cool concert space outside too. read more
