    Brewery Tour
    Gilbert G.

During a trip to Asheville, NC, I stopped by for a tour of the Sierra Nevada Brewery and Taproom. It's a modern facility that is spacious and impressive. This is the East Coast headquarters for the company which sparked the craft beer revolution in the U.S. (its original HQ is in Chico, CA). Even if you're not a fan of Sierra Nevada beer, the food is excellent in the taproom with good service. The outdoor space is relaxing and festive if the weather is nice. Overall, it's well worth a visit to this place if you're staying overnight in Asheville, NC.

My friends and I came here for drinks and food. Huuugeee place! So cool was not expecting this at all. There's a ton of things to indoor and outdoors. We didn't make reservations but we put our name down for one when we got there and then just got drinks and snacks in the meantime. They have a limited menu option for if you're not sitting down. I recommend getting a table though so you can get the full menu. We shared the chicken wings which are crazy small but you can strip the meat right off the bone! Perfect bite size. The chips and dip (beet hummus and polenta cheese) were okay. Dog and family friendly too. Great for big groups as well! Would def come back with friends or a big group for some fun.

Took a long weekend up to Asheville and had to stop in here. It is so close to the airport you almost have to drive through it to get to town. Beautiful campus! You can tell they spent a lot of money and time to set this place up. Large dinning area. Got a table easily. Perused the beer and food menu. Got a flight of the beer. My fav was the Pilsner and the sunny. All were tasty. For food we got the meatballs. Really good. Tasty red sauce and enough for two. If you don't get a guided tour highly recommend doing the self guided upstairs. Lots to see and read about the history and beer process. Great stop!

This is literally one of the best places I've visited in Asheville. Very great food. The atmosphere is spectacular. You can come and just hang out if you want to and read a book. It feels like a refuge... A place to Juven. The food selections are tremendous and everything I tasted was spectacular. This is one of my new favorites if not my very favorite. The jambalaya is particularly good and the roasted potatoes for appetizer is one that you must order. Prepared to perfection. The staff were incredibly nice and very helpful and very serving! This place is absolutely awesome.!!!!

Sierra Nevada Taproom exceeded our expectations! This was a recommendation from a local when we were visiting Asheville. Let me say that this is the best food that I've ever had at a brewery! My son, husband, and I visited on a Monday for a late lunch and were seated right away. Our server was patient as we tried to figure out what we wanted. My son fully enjoyed the meatballs! My husband and I shared the one of the seasonal salads and the burger. Both were excellent! We couldn't pass up the fries and honestly, I could have eaten these by myself. Crispy and salty on the outside and tender on the inside. We ended the meal with bread pudding which I would highly recommend. On, we can't forget the beer! My husband had a flight and I sipped on a light beer. Service was superb. Don't forget to check out the outside area behind the taproom. There are some relaxing sitting areas and it's a beautiful place to chill. There is a short walking trail, but it was closed when we visited in November 2025. Sierra Nevada, you have stolen my heart with your beer and food! Until next time!

My family and I visited Sierra Nevada Taproom while vacationing in the Asheville area. When we drove up to the entrance we were welcomed with a beautiful drive up to the brewery which, surprisingly, was much larger than any of us expected. Before we sat down for dinner at the restaurant, we decided to walk up to the second floor for the self guided tour. If you don't participate in a guided tour, I highly recommend a self guided tour at least. You will really get an appreciation for the size of the facility and everything that is offered here. Be sure to make it all the way to the end where you will find the packaging area. Since we didn't sign up for the guided tour we didn't participate in a tasting. Instead once we sat down at the restaurant, several of us ordered a flight of beers. We ordered a total of 3 flights all with different beers, so we were able to taste a total of 12 beers. As part of our entertainment, we decided as a table that we would do a taste test and rate each beer. For dinner we ordered 3 pepperoni pizzas which was perfect for the 6 of us. The pizza was good. It wasn't too thin and it wasn't too thick. After dinner we walk on the back patio which again was huge and looked like a fun place. They had a big bonfire going which added to the ambiance. We hope to make it back at some point for the guided tour.

This is our yearly (or sometimes bi-yearly?) tradition, always in conjunction with our October trip to Asheville...whether it be the Blueridge Parkway, Downtown Asheville, or Cherokee. My husband loves their beer...and we both love their foods. Truly, to date, this place hasn't let us down. This time, however, I did notice that the menu seemed smaller than usual? Still, whatever they have, we trust them to be amazing. This time, we both decided to try their Pale Ale Burger...and as anticipated, they were stellar! I absolutely loved how crisp-yet-soft the buns were, and the patty tasted so good! Now, if you prefer those greasy burgers, this is not for you. Luckily, I hate greasy burgers...so this fresher, crispier burger was perfect for me! We loved their Duck Fat Fries as well. Plus, we always get their Joyce Farms Ginger Soy Chicken Wings ...they're always so good!! As usual, we roamed around their huge backyard awhile, then drove back home!

I've always referred to this place as the "Biltmore of breweries". From the long drive way to the huge and amazing facility; this place has it all. I humbly believe that no trip to Asheville is complete unless you've been here and I will die on that hill. Food is fantastic, beer is better than you'd expect (since it is widely available nationally) and service is attentive and knowledgeable. We ate in the dining room and then chilled out back in their expansive beer garden taking in the moment. Highly recommend!!

A good time at a gorgeous taproom. We stopped in for a brew and visit the brewery on our trip. We took our own leisure tour while we sipped. The facility is beautiful and really cool. People were friendly and we enjoyed our time.

Made a trip to do a brewery tour all the way from Greenville SC. Tour was fun, beer tasting set up in a tasteful manner and the tour guide very pleasant and unhurried. Ambiance at the taproom 10/10, food: pizza decent, pimento cheese and chips not so much. Service not sure why, but there were two menus, one for patio (picture outdoors, beautiful views, nice setting, comfortable seating) and one for inside. Patio menu was very sparse, very afterthought-ish but same prices. That was mildly annoying, especially after the light buzz from the 'hazy little thing' etc... Once we made peace with the fact that pizza will only be had inside and views had to left outside, it was a fun experience! The pizza was quite tasty!!!!

Went here with friends expecting to grab some beers and mediocre food... and man was I WRONG! The food was excellent! Huge portions, reasonably priced and absolutely delicious!!! The service was excellent. Attentive and so friendly... you can tell they all genuinely love working there! The vibe is elite! Great outdoor spaces with live music, food and drinks! We stayed for several hours before heading to the airport. If you're in the area stop in for some great eats and crisp cold beer! Oh and don't forget the self guided tour upstairs!!

    Big little thing loaded s'mores

We moved to the east coast from California and my husband went to school in Chico. When we discovered the other Sierra Nevada was close to Asheville we had to go. I am sad that we didn't have enough time to book a brewery tour, but it is definitely something we will do next time. We started off with a pretzel and beer cheese. The pretzel was soft and chewy. The beer cheese was good enough, but not the best beer cheese I had ever had. This place still gets 5/5 rating. My husband had the house pizza (I didn't get a picture) and I had the pale ale burger. I have never eaten a burger with pub cheese on it before but I would happily only eat this burger for the rest of my life if I could find the pub cheese (or make it...is there's recipe?). This burger was a 20/10. My husband rates the pizza 20/10. It was all that good. I ordered the big little thing loaded s'mores for dessert and it was amazing. Peanut butter, fudge, potato chips...there is some genius behind whomever invented this recipe. I tried a pint of the Weizenbock and very highly recommend this flavor profile. It is not a sweet beer but has a sweet flavor and I don't know how to better explain this. The flavor profile is banana, clove, fresh bread, and custard and it was perfection. My only complaint is that I cannot buy this anywhere. Service was very attentive. If you are wondering if you should head over to Mills River to see the brewery, do it. The compound is beautiful and much bigger than you are expecting. The food and drink are perfection. There is a gift shop. Just take my money. My husband's review: No notes

A must-visit if you're in town -- food, beer, and vibes all delivered. We always have high expectations when it comes to food at major brewery taprooms, and Sierra Nevada did not disappoint. After doing their Pale Ale tour (which I highly recommend -- fun, informative, and you get a surprise take-home beer glass!), we walked over to the taproom for lunch and were blown away. They describe it as tapas-style, but heads up -- some dishes are more generously portioned than your typical tapas, which was a nice surprise. * Burrata was fresh, creamy, and paired perfectly with vibrant garden-fresh ingredients. Exactly what you'd want. * Hamachi crudo was the standout dish of the night -- a beautiful balance of sweet and spicy. I only wish it had a touch more pineapple, but it was still my favorite plate. * Tostones were spot on -- crispy, golden, and not greasy. The sauce and pickled onions on top tied it all together. The back patio is huge and beautifully set up -- perfect for enjoying a beer in the crisp fall weather. It's casual, family-friendly, and ideal if you've got kids or a group who want to spread out and relax. Great food, great beer, and an even better atmosphere. 10/10 would recommend -- we're already talking about coming back!!

Ask the Community - Sierra Nevada Taproom

Are dogs allowed in the outside areas?

    Yes. They are dog friendly

Can kids under 12 go here?

Yes they can I'm pretty sure as long as they are with an adult/parent!

Hi there! My hubby and I love smoking cigars outside, is there an area outside that allows cigars while enjoying your beers? Thanks!

    No. Non smoking property.

Are there TVs to watch football on Sundays?

Sorry but we do not have TVs in either Taprooms.

Do they allow dogs on the covered patio for dining?

We are only permitted by the health department to have service animals in the restaurant including the covered dining areas.

Does anyone have any idea when they might reopen for in-person tastings and tours? We are planning to travel there over Labor Day weekend and this has always been a favorite stop.

They confirmed that they're only open for curb side pickup, no dine in.

    Are the tours free?

Yes. They also have a self-guided tour you can do

Can anyone describe the walking trails further out behind the stage? Are there any nice views of the river? Is it worth checking out in general?

Unfortunately, the day we went it was rainy. But I do know there is plans to make more trails and even got to the river. But my understanding is the weather has been causing some delays in this development.

    Does the taproom accept reservations?

Not for smaller parties. They have a large event space you can reserve. When you arrive you can sign in and be paged when table is ready or there is a lot of community table seating first come,… Read more

Are there TVs onsite? If so, curious if they play nfl games on Sunday?

I believe there are a few TV's but it's not a place that is focused on the customers watching a game.

Do they serve other alcoholic beverages other than their beer?

Last time I went they had beer and wine only.

    Are dogs allowed?

Yes in their outdoor areas. There is lots of room and it's very dog friendly.
