Well this was unexpectedly amazing! We were staying near Biltmore Village and wanted something casual and within walking distance from our hotel. Hillman Beer checked the boxes. The outdoor seating was nice, the staff was really friendly and there was a good crowd when we arrived. I noticed a lot of people were getting the kale salad as their side so I opted for that. It was really good! Overall the food was way better than your average bar food and we would definitely go back the next time we're in town!
It has been 3 years since we last visited Asheville. We are back and made Hillman our first stop of the month. It's as if nothing changed, discounting the surrounding destruction from Hurricane Helene. Hillman Beer is still a calm oasis in the midst of all that. My wife ordered food, a turkey wrap that was huge and accompanied by a delicious kale salad (with golden raisins, pumpkin seeds and a sprinkling of cheese). She took half her meal home. We each tried a pint to start, pilsner for her, kölsch for me and enjoyed them. Then we put together a flight with dry Irish stout, lager, hazy IPA and Summer Crush a brew that defies styles and descriptions. You just have to try it before it disappears. We sat at a picnic table by the creek where it was quiet and peaceful and interacted with other patrons, especially their dogs. It's good to be back. We won't be strangers.
First time at Hillman. It was perfect for our visit to Asheville. We met some friends there and sampled multiple different kinds of beer. Everything was amazing! I recommend the Porter and the strawberry saison. We ordered a few different foods, including pimento cheese and the chicken sandwich. Both were amazing and it made me want to lick the bowl. I definitely recommend this place!
Walked in randomly after hiking the Catawba Falls. Our order was taken immediately. We decided to sit at the bar. Our food came out super fast and fresh! Everyone that was working was friendly, kind & smiling. The restaurant was very clean. Because we sat near the bar we experience a few more flies than what we would like but all in all it was a great experience. The ginger beer was amazing as well!
Tried out Hillman Beer, while perusing different breweries in the Asheville area. Hillman is a nice little spot that offers a good selection of parking and a mix of beer and food options. The location was busy and staff was nice. The interior was furnished with a lot of high top tables to accompany different sized groups. We ordered a pretzel and beer cheese, and were thoroughly surprised by the size and that there were two. The beer was beer, and they did have seltzer options which is always a nice surprise.
With family in town we had to hit some breweries. Hillman was one of the first we thought of, as it was closeby Biltmore/Village. The cubannnnn was so good, that and their pretzel! The waiter who brought us our food was nice and had fun with us, and the relatives enjoyed watching whatever game was on. Very chill, easy parking, in and outdoor seating which is a blessing with small kids

Instead I selected the Strawboobies Saison. Music was playing and we were lucky enough to grab a small table for two where we could hear the music but were out of the sun. For my next beer I had the Currant Mistake which I liked better than the Saison. Husband enjoyed his two beers as well. Lastly, we both ordered the pork bowl which had a lot of flavor and was a good portion size. Bartenders were friendly and attentive -- you order and pay at the bar. Overall a great spot to hang out for beer, music and food.
The only negative thing I have to say about this place is that it is in Asheville and I am not. This is a new favorite brewery for me! It was full of fun vibes. The beer was fantastic (I got a flight and each one was great!), the food was delicious (you MUST try the pimento cheese dip), and the server was amazing! I can't wait to come back and try other beer and food!
From the open air to the draft beer and delicious food, Hillman was a great bet. I loved the Irish Stout, chocolate notes with the right amount of bitter. My husband had the Red Ale, also a classic, malty flavor. Food ranged from a grilled cheese to three types of burgers. All of it good to the last bite.

Parking can be a bit challenging some times. A little loud inside when packed and especially if they have live music. Defines in our top five breweries in Asheville if not our favorite...

Family style for those with big parties. There's also outdoor seating and seating for just 2. We love stopping here on our way home. The service is always quick and efficient.

We were originally going to another place around the corner but their kitchen was closing early so we stumbled upon Hillman and we were so happy with the unexpected detour. The vibe is really cool both inside and outside. The beers are really good and liked their cider too. It's cool that they make their own cider and hard seltzer. The food was really good and it's definitely a place I would return next time I'm in town. Bartenders were really friendly and the food came out super fast. It was amazing to hear about how much hurricane damage they had and how they rebuilt so quickly. Definitely go support them!

Hillman Beer was always a favorite of mine when I lived in the area. Their kale salad was an all time fav! I grabbed a burger with a side of kale salad and an order of fries to go. The kale salad after all these years still stands as my favorite kale salad.. from anywhere. The burger was just as good as I remember it being too. They have a ton of outdoor seating both out front and out back + indoor seating. Staff is always friendly and was exceptionally helpful yesterday with my to go order. Hillman has great food, drinks, and ambiance. They have the perfect set up for both indoor and outdoor seating. We choose to sit where we could see the creek and enjoy the outdoor setting. I loved how many different beers they had, and the food was good too! I would suggest getting the burger and fries over the rice bowl, and the pimiento cheese was delicious! read more
Met a co worker for lunch. We were greeted by a very bubbly person , Emily who made us feel so welcome. She was a very attentive and made sure we were not rushed. It was sunny but very windy so we sat inside. You order at the bar and they will bring your food out to you. Of course we each had a beer both tasty. fFor lunch I had the club sandwich and my friend had the chicken sandwich both came with homemade chips. Both meals were also good and tasty. We have been to all the hillman's over the years, Biltmore, Old Fort and Morganton but the service and attention we get from Nate and the servers in Biltmore is absolutely phenomenal, besides having great beer and food Nate always welcomes us and strives to make sure we are happy and taken care of!!! 10 stars to Nate. Hillman is a nice neighborhood bar on the outskirts of Biltmore Village and just far enough away from the main gate of the Biltmore Estate to keep most tourists away. There is lots of outdoor seating (and indoor) and one of the most dog-friendly breweries in the area. We usually go for beers but the food menu is also good. Tonight, we had the smash burger and fries, and the kale salad with fried chicken. Both were good and filling. We also enjoyed the Thursday night beer special (Saison), the Oktoberfest and my favorite, Mama Bear. Bar service can be a bit slow if there's a crowd as there was on this night and we didn't realize until a bit later that it was trivia night. Kudos to the staff for walking around with a handheld device to replenish food and drink and close out tabs. read more
