Low-key but fun, family friendly environment! Not too loud inside. The sour beer I got was tasty. And also enjoyed some Margherita pizza from the food truck tonight! Really adore this brewery every time I stop by here. With a River and hammock stands, this place is a summer staple. I love that it's far enough away that it doesn't get too busy and there's parking. A bit out in Fairview but not too far from downtown/everything to deter. Great ambiance- woody and a little Central American feeling. Photos of birds and some tropical feels. I dig it. The staff is always super helpful and kind. They make a lot in house. I had their seltzer (guava) last time and I loved it. Light and sweet and lovely. Their Hefeweizen is also delish and their ciders are unique. Just learned they're all low key GF. Heck yeah. The prices are reasonable. Tons of na options for kids or non drinkers. Was super excited to check this place out, it has such a great location with the water and wide open spaces....but the service and overall ambiance was very cold and unwelcoming. We arrived, walked in and had a few questions about some of the menu options. The bar tender at the time seemed less than enthused to tell us anything at all about the beer they made/had on tap. *a suggestion- if it's super annoying to tell people about your beers, maybe you could have the flavor profile/brew info somewhere to view inside (similar to how you have it listed on the website). *a recommendation to visitors- view the website first to see what you want. read more

Stumbled upon this brewery by accident while waiting around for our AirBnB to become available. Which was a great thing because our dogs were just about done with 4 hours in the car. The staff was very friendly and while I only had the Pale Ale, which was good, I want to go back to try the rest of their beers. The best part for us was the large outside area which had multiple roofed areas, picnic tables, camping spots, a beach next to a creek, faucets for camping, and hammock poles. All of this was great but it felt a little barren. Possibly because it was off-season. The outside has so much potential! We'll be definitely coming back when in the area. read more

Great find in Fairview. After a day of hiking at Chimney Rock, we went "rouge" and ignored Waze on our way back to Hendersonville. Winding our way through the mountains with really nothing around, we turn one of the bends and see a sign for a brewery...? What? Here? In what seems to be the middle of nowhere? Feeling adventurous, we stop and boy, are we glad. What a great brewery- friendly, informative bartenders and awesome beer, served at just the right chill level. We had their Vienna Lager and the Pilsner. Both better than any we've had at breweries around The Triangle. The menu was extensive and varied. So many breweries do lots of IPAs, but little else. One of the best things about this brewery is the location. We sat on Adirondack chairs along the creek and literally watched a school of NC brown trout swim up stream then float back. I can't say enough good things about this brewery! First the beers and ciders! The selection is amazing something for literally everyone!! This was some of the best tasting beer I have ever had!! Also the guy behind the bar not sure if he is the owner or not but he was amazing! I wish we lived here so we could come every weekend!! It was a beautiful, sunny Asheville day.... time to check out a brewery! What a fun spot! They are not serving flights currently, but offer half pours so you can try a few things. Husband ordered half pours of their Oatmeal IPA, a Golden Rye Ale, and a Tumeric Sour. All were very very good; he would have any of them again. The Oatmeal IPA and the Golden Rye were his favorites, if he HAD to choose. As a non beer drinker, I was excited to see they had mead and cider. I gave their Merlin Cider a try. It was okay, but kinda.... weak? Not hugely flavorful. Naturally we hit up the visiting food truck, and enjoyed our afternoon sitting out at a picnic table. Lots of seating available (although only some of it is shaded- heads up on a hot day.) We will return! read more

This place has a really good vibe and the inside is very welcoming. The beer is really good too but the reason I gave 3 stars was the rude bartender. She seemed so annoyed to have to pour our beers and was very rude to our friend that was trying to be super friendly to her. If you work at a chill brewery on a Sunday afternoon and pour beer for the public in Asheville and this does not make you happy please find another job, don't bring down our vibe! There are also more rules than I have ever seen like no dogs, rules about kids and only 2 samples. This is a bit too rigid for an Asheville brewery. read more

Turgua Breeing came highly recommended but I am disappointed. The location is great, with a lot of potential, but the beer/beverage selection was poor. The barkeep tried her hardest and let me sample just about everything I thought I might like as they didn't have any of my go-to. The location is lovely, you can borrow a hammock to lay in, there are fire pits, a creek running through the property. If only they offered a beer I could have enjoyed! read more

No pets is a non starter in AVL. We used to go all of the time. What happened? Your outdoor space is great but not so much when it is snowing. Your beer is decent but we will take our business to Whistle Hop if you can't get your act together. Can you name another brewery that does not allow dogs?? I cannot read more

For those who make the journey, you will be well rewarded. Turgua is a small oasis in pretty much the middle of nowhere - well let's just say Fairview is a little outside Asheville. Follow the small signs along the forking gravel drive and park on the grass. The taproom is small - maybe five stools plus some outdoor seating. Yes, that's the Brewer's house up on the hill - the brewery and tap room are in his backyard. I kid you not. With 30 years of home brewing under his belt - Phil Desenne makes magic here with locally sourced ingredients. The Waxwing Oatmeal IPA was such a nicely made, clever twist on a beer. The fresh Strawberry Rhubarb Saison (Frayzon) was just a little sweet, tart smooth and delicious. The Sapsucker - the current Session IPA was my favorite - I couldn't drink enough of it. Bonus = complimentary bar snacks Double Bonus= Kirsten the bartender, who glows, serves beer and makes great conversation. Love, love, love this place!! read more

Great spot along the creek. Creative beers. I liked what I ordered (cider) but I wish they offered flights so I could try more. Half pours is a start but I can still only have 2 or 3. I'll go back for sure. To the people here complaining about the no dog rule- Maybe someone that works there is allergic or maybe they had a serious incident and don't want the liability. Or maybe they don't want to deal with doggy accidents. I love my dogs too, but it's not a dealbreaker if I can't bring them somewhere. I love that Asheville is a dog and kid friendly town but it's ok to have a place for adults to enjoy beer. read more

Nice little brewery down the road from where I visit my mom. I can get beer to go to take home for a treat after a long drive down the mountain. The staff is friendly and always ready with good suggestions. I have spent the afternoon on occasion and it is very pleasant by the creek. There are daily food trucks also. The beer have bird names, which is fun, as one of my home town breweries is also a "bird name" place. I have tried everything from lighter to darker beer and they have all been quite flavorful. read more

This is the largest selection of great beers that you will ever see in someone's yard. A very quaint setting that makes you feel like you've walked over to a neighbors house (and maybe you have?). This sweet brewery is set in the off the beaten path in Fairview. I was amazed at the variety and quality of the brews! You can choose from multiple styles of Turgua beer or maybe a guest brew. Turgua is what small town living is all about. Tucked away in a Fairview neighborhood, about 20 minutes from Asheville, this brewery is located on the owners beautiful property. There are several small batch beers to choose from, along with a house made kombucha on tap. The beers range from IPAs, to saison, sours, and darker beers as well. The taproom is small consisting of a few bar stools but the garage door is always open and the outdoor seating is plentiful. They sometimes have music and food options on the weekends, you can normally find details on their Instagram. This weekend I had stumpys bbq there, enjoying a smoked veggie burger with homemade mustard slaw and a bag of chips for $5. What a good deal, and delicious, every last bite was consumed. With so many beer options in Asheville, this is truly a unique gem that I recommend everyone try. read more

Looking for an authentic brewery experience in the middle of nowhere? This is the place! We found out about it through our Airbnb host. I really enjoy that the owner turned his garage into a brewery. Even as an out of towner, the sense of community I picked up here was awesome and unique. There is a platform for live music and the regulars bring their own chairs. Great location for a brewery. Good atmosphere. The beers I tried were just ok. The reason for 3 stars is the rude bartender we had. She seemed very annoyed with us asking any questions about the beer and additionally when I asked to taste one. I ended up liking the one I tried and ordered it, only to be given a different beer. I pointed this out to her but she insisted it was the same one. We normally try 2-3 beers when we stop at a brewery, but didn't feel welcome here and left after only one. We won't be back. There are plenty of awesome breweries around this area thankfully. read more

My wife found out about this place from a friend. We stopped by after going to hike Bear Wallow Mtn in Fairview. This is a cute little brewery in Fairview. About 15-20 south east of asheville. They have a handful of great beers and great conversation. While here we tried a few different beers but the Oatmeal Porter was are favorite. If you are looking for a brewery outside of the craziness of the South Slope this is the place. I have never been to anything like it before. We will be back to checkout what else they have brewing soon. read more

Drinks were fine, but, there is an antagonizing duck that management is doing nothing about. All parties with four-legged friends were not pleased. Duck is an annoyance. Once again, management not doing anything about it. I would consider Sierra Nevada if you're looking for a brewery. Also, discrimination for four-legged friends indoors. No food, only food truck. This place is a children's playground that serves beer. Went there on a Saturday afternoon and the entire place filled with feral children within an hour. No parental supervision despite a sign requiring children to stay with parents at all times. Couldn't hear the music over screaming kids. The beer was ok but not worth the atmosphere. read more

Everything in town was slammed, so we followed some local friends' recommendations and found Turgua. It was low key, tucked in a valley along a creek. It's rustic, so think of it more like spending time in your friend's backyard. Bring camp chairs if you want to sit along the creek, otherwise the seating is farther up closer to the brewery. Literally the brewer's front yard. Read the history, worth knowing. Good mix of IPA beers and saisons. The Warbler - Peach IPA = heaven.

In between Looking Glass Creamery and Hickory Nut Gap Farm is this wonderful backyard brewery at the end of a gravel road. Tasty beers, all gluten reduced but not lacking any flavor. I enjoyed my Firefly Golden Rye immensely, and the U.P.'s loss of Kirsten is Asheville's gain. Check this place out please. read more

A hidden gem in a residential area of Fairview. Don't look for a fancy atmosphere here, but if you want solid craft beer, with a good selection of styles, this place is cool! The owners are very nice, and are all about accommodating you. A True craft beer stop if you are in the area. read more

My boyfriend and I ventured out to this brewery because we wanted to try something outside of Asheville and it did not disappoint. Let me first say that the reviews saying the gravel road leading to brewery is not motorcycle friendly are untrue. There were no big pits in the road and as long as you go slow, any bike can easily make it in. That being said, the drink selection, the staff, and the regular customers were all awesome! We got a flight and liked every one. I'm a cider lover and their Merlin cider was top notch. Not too sweet or bitter. They also were selling food from a smoker that smelled and looked too good to pass up. We split a pork sammie and it was sooo good! The locals hanging out were very sociable and friendly. Plus there was cornhole and frisbees and other means of killing time while drinking. We will definitely be back! read more
