What an experience we had at Frog Level Brewing. It is a fantastic dog-friendly brewery we discovered while staying in Bryson City. After a lovely hike around Lake Junaluska, we stumbled upon this gem in nearby Waynesville. We had no idea how welcoming it would be for dogs until we walked in and bumped into fellow hikers we had met on the trail! Our pup, Schroeder, had a blast playing with Luke and a dog named Whiskey while we enjoyed the beautiful back deck overlooking a small creek. It was such a relaxing atmosphere, and everyone we met was friendly and helpful. Oh, and the beer was excellent! We especially loved their DIPA. If you're ever in the area with your furry friend, I highly recommend checking Frog Level out, it will not disappoint! read more

What a view! They're right on the water with tons of outdoor seating to take advantage of their location. They also have lots of indoor seating and a big bar where you put in your order for drinks and food. I'm not a really a beer fan so I appreciated the assortment of local sodas available - I tried the strawberry rhubarb soda which was pretty good but I'd try a different flavor next time. We also tried the fried mushrooms, chili, meatball sub, and wings off their menu - pretty standard fare but good. I love this place! The inside is so cool with a laid back vibe and the outdoor seating on the creek is awesome. They had live music under their new stage which was great. All the beers we had were awesome, especially the hazy and the Frogdelo, their version of a Modelo Negra. The hummus, trout dip, and pimento dip app was very good. However, the smash burger wasn't a true smash, just thin patties on an ok bun with basic toppings. The side of chips with queso wasn't homemade, just out of a jar I believe. My wifes grilled chicken salad was fair, but very basic. Service was good but somewhat slow because they were busy. Would have given five stars but the food wasn't as good as the beer! read more

First timers and it was a very nice place. The inside is quite cozy with lots of seating areas and the outside had live music with lots of outdoor seating. Just note the tables (pictured below) look to be house made tables outside are small and do not fit tall people very well. It's hard to get your legs under or around to be comfortable. It's nice outside, just not very comfortable unless you score a high top maybe, a picnic table or some of the other chairs. And sitting again the brick is wall (we tried for a while too) but it was a no go. So, we did find a nice couch inside that was a great spot. We had a couple of the sours which were good and the stuffed tots. The tots were very good and recommended. Yummy! We would absolutely go back but just not sit outside. We had a great lunch at Frog Level Brewing today with our pup (they are very dog friendly). I tried a few of the seasonal beers. They were all good. The sweet potato amber was a standout. With flavored beers I sometimes find myself searching for the flavor. I didn't have to with this one (or the persimmon sour or the chestnut brown). We had brisket tacos and a bbq brisket sandwich. Both good as well. The service was friendly and efficient. Food came out fast. They have a big indoor space as well as a cool outdoor space (weather permitting ... it was too cold for it today). Beer is...eh. Not my favorite. But they had one sour that was pretty alright. I came here because my Airbnb was in this town and I needed to waste some time before check in. There is a public parking lot right across the street from the brewery, which was a big draw and convenience for me. The space is huge, lots of room for groups or events. I ordered a flight, because I like trying new things. I should have just gotten a full pour of something I knew was in my wheelhouse. I didn't love most of what I got to try, but you know that's why we try things! The Ultraviolet Guanabana was my favorite of the four I got, tasty and fruity and tart. I had a nice, brief visit here, listening to a podcast while I sipped my drinks. I didn't feel drawn to buy anything to-go and bring home with me, but I enjoyed myself well enough while I was here. read more

Im not sure this is the worst restaurant I've been to, but certainly close. It felt like an indoor ally way and the patrons all looked lost. I'm not sure I ever figured out what was going on at this place. It could be me, but maybe it's the times we live in. We walked in and could not really tell if it was seat ourselves or wait to be seated. Turns out that you find a place to sit and order at the bar. You then wait forever to wonder if your food is going to come. The food comes out and you watch the staff wonder around for five minutes until they find who the order belongs to. Perhaps they could improve their system. We had chicken nachos, cold. Brisket grilled cheese, cold. Brisket tacos, cold. We didn't order them cold, but apparently that's how they come. We also had an order of loaded tots, which were slightly larger than normal tater tots with cheese inside. Five of them for $9. Had the food been warm it might have been good, however we will never know. My tacos just tasted like onions. The grilled cheese tasted like dog food. The nachos had a few beans, a couple of jalapeño slices, a hint of cheese and drowned in sour cream. The place was pretty loud and then the live music sounded like a death march. There were dogs being paraded through the place while they barked at each other. Add to it the ceiling fans were on full blast with the ac going while it was a cold winter day. Not sure what was colder, the outside temperature, the food, or the inside eating area. I love Waynesville, but will skip Frog Level. Don't fall for the positive reviews. read more

This place is ~the~ vibe. We went to another brewery in a nearby town and were let down by their Trout Dip and other food, who wants to eat trout dip with broccoli? We decided to drop by Frog Level today and our Trout Dip dreams came true. Just look at those perfect warm, soft pitas. The zucchini fries were the star of the show of our lunch. Went to this brewery last night and was super surprised they had food! We had a huge group of us and they were so fast with the food and even took group photos for us. The staff were great and very nice! & there was plenty of seating for all of too. You order your food at the bar and then they will bring it out to you. I'm not big on beer, but they do have cider so I got the triple jam and it was very good! Literally tasted just like jam! The shrimp tacos were amazing. They were on corn tortillas and the sauce was so yummy on them! They did have a little bit of a kick to them but not too spicy. I paired them with a side of chips and queso. They had a band playing tonight as well. After we finished eating we went outside to drink a little more. They have these adorable lights outside that give it a really nice ambiance. In the area for some fun and relaxation with members of our RV club and found this place fairly close to where we were shopping. Now I must say that Waynesville, NC just might be the most dog-friendly city I've ever seen. Dogs of every kind, and welcome pretty much everywhere we went. Now on to the real review. The guys arrived a little before the ladies, so dug right into the extensive beer menu on the screens on the wall. I had an IPA for starters, which was hoppy and delicious. Food is ordered at the bar counter and brought to your table by an efficient server that you then never interact with again. Beers are ordered and picked up at the bar and you return your own glasses to the bar, as well as bussing your own table after you eat. And eat I did, with the monthly special Smashburger, a perfectly cooked chili cheeseburger with very tasty fries. I usually avoid smash burgers, as they're very easy to overcook and make very dry. Not in this case. Cook was percent, and the house-made chili was a wonderful accompaniment to the two patties, cheese and veggies. With my burger, I ordered the house Hefeweizen, which was excellent and quite refreshing. A spacious outdoor seating area easily accommodated our group of 12. I'm sure we'll be back to this area in the future, and Frog Level will be a guaranteed stop. read more

Here we go again. Another day but not just another brewery. This place is awesome from the time you walk through the door. It has a side room with couches, tables and other seating areas. Shuffle board, corn hole and darts are all inside activities. Out back there is a large seating area right on the river. Oops, did I mention their custom brews are delicious. If you find yourself in the Asheville area take the 30 mile drive east on I-40 to Waynesville to Frog Level Brewing. This is one of the coolest micro-breweries I have found! Located on a creek in the quaint ville of Wayne, you will find Frog Level. Located in a renovated historic building with plenty of space filled with cool art and cold beer. This place is worth the stop! We tried a couple of their beers, the Salamander Slam IPA and the Hop-Rooted IPA by 7 Clans Brewing. Both were very good, my personal favorite was the Salamander Slam, brewed with pine and citrus hops with a great finish. For a midday snack we ordered the Trout Dip. This has to be the best fish dip I have tried! The trout is sourced locally and smoked, served with pita points. I would order this on every visit if I was a local. Spying on our creekside neighbors with my Maxwell Smart skills I must report that the nachos looked amazing as did the sammies. Great portion sizes along with top notch food. There is live music on the creek the day we visited and there was a good crowd on hand. As an added bonus, Frog Level shares their space with 7 Clans Brewing, a majority Native American female owned brewery. The day of our visit they were offering 3 beers and I elected for the Hop-Rooted IPA mentioned above. This IPA is citrus forward with enough centennial hops to deliver the hoppy punch all of us IPA drinkers love. When I am in the area again I will definitely stop by again! read more

This is a place we've been meaning to get to for YEARS, but going between Asheville & Highlands, Waynesville was just the middle. So, finally got the chance this Spring Break to hang out in town and at Frog Level for a good times. First, parents: THEY HAVE GAMES!!!! Tons of stuff for the kids to do: board games and a sand shuffleboard table, and foosball. If you want to, you can play too! But this allowed us to hang out and drink more, and that's the other good stuff. More and more places are going to almost 80% IPAs. Not here, there's a great selection, including many sour beers my wife and my taste buds crave so much. Love all the different choices, really creative blends, and yes, even got a glass of wine for my mother to keep her at bay a bit too!
