This brewery JUST reopened, after drying off and fixing the place after the hurricane! (Crazy to see the water line on the bricks inside!!) The staff were super friendly, the beers were pretty good, and although they don't do flights, they will do half pours and samples of the beer. I really liked the location of the brewery; it was in the middle of nowhere (close to DT Asheville though), in a cool building- with a yard, and string lights, and lots of graffiti. After wondering Marquee for a while, we decided to stop next door at Wedge Brewing and quench our thirst. The bartender eagerly welcomed us in, telling us about the their rebuilding and how a year earlier the entire building was almost entirely under water during the hurricane....really wild when you realize how tall the building is, and just how devastating storm was...but also amazing to see how quickly they seem to have put this town back together. I really liked the interior, it had a very industrial look, and feel to it. He then told us about the beer they had, and offered suggestions based on what everyone liked. I went with their Hazy IPA, which was great. Though they had lots of seating inside, and even a second floor, when we entered we noticed some concrete ping pong tables out on their patio. We asked the bartended and he was happy to loaned out equipment. We "played" for a while, and had some fun while enjoying our drinks. Wedge themselves doesn't serve food, but they did have a food truck on site. I'm not sure how often, or if maybe it's always parked there(?). We didn't get a chance to try it, but it did smell good. Another great stop in the art and beer city. I'd definitely go back to check them out again and try something new. Fantastically friendly staff. A good variety of beer styles. We stopped in after discovering our intended destination nearby was actually opening an hour or so later than we expected. So Yelp, Google Maps, and our eyeballs brought us over to this particular enclave in the River Arts District while we waited. We walked in to Wedge, also pleased to see that they have a permanent food truck outside for lunching and munching purposes. Some in our group went and ordered food. Having had a large breakfast, I opted for a half pour of their sour on tap. I love LOVE when a brewery has a wide range of beer styles. Because y'all, I am sorry but IPAs are freaking gross to me. The sour was pretty a-ok, but then I and another woman in my group noticed the Ginger's Revenge hard ginger beer on the tap list and we were IN. We each got a pour of that and the bartender also educated us, letting us know Ginger's Revenge was not the name of the particular pour, but was the label that made it....AND it was local....AND they have a tasting room! I love when local breweries are supporters and champions of their fellow craft breweries, rather than bitter competitors! We had a grand time with our beers and the food. The space was great with great outdoor space as well, and of course...lots of art and murals and what not. Certainly worth a stop in! read more

If you travel to Asheville, you have to stop at this brewery and check-out the amazing art work on all the warehouse walls. The brewery is large and has 2 floors and 2 table tennis tables, cornhole bags and other options in the back game room. We tried a flight of beer and they were all good styles of beer. We went to Wedge at Foundation on a recent trip to Asheville and I thought it was a pretty fantastic place. The outdoor area definitely still gives those vibes of an old industrial space, but the outdoor art and graffiti make it a fun space to explore. Along with that there are nice touches like outdoor seating, lighting, and there was even a DJ on the Saturday afternoon we stopped by. We especially liked that, on the day we went, there was a sort of bike festival with lots of booths set up to encourage and inform the public about bike riding. Pretty cool! We choose to hang inside because it was a little loud with the DJ outside and we simply wanted to talk and have a relaxed time. The inside was really cool and the bartenders were pretty nice. We tried a couple different beers, all of which were delicious. The artwork inside is pretty cool and eye catching as well and there's a ton of seating, actually more than you'd expect. There are also games to play like cornhole (I hear this is a midwestern term and the rest of the world calls it bean bag toss?)and there's even an upstairs seating space. I love this location so much! For me personally, this spot is better than the original. This is where my husband and I chose to introduce all of our families to each other the week of our wedding because we love it! I'm not much of a beer drinker but I'm always happy to tag along and hang out here. The indoor space is really cool (although the bar/ordering situation is a little cluttered/chaotic) and there is plenty of space to sit. There is a nice mixture of old brick and modern colorful murals decorating the interior. Regardless of this, I prefer sitting outside. The outdoor patio has a variety of seating options, almost always has a food truck and is a great spot to be at dusk. Located near the train tracks and by a local art mural mecca, this truly is a beautiful place. There is a large metal ping pong table outside with some tables, and stone benches. I wish I could speak personally on their beers but that's OK. I can't personally recommend anything specifically but I can tell you that my husband claims Iron Rail as one of the best beers in Asheville. read more

The bar tender sprayed us with sanitizer walking out. Terrible customer service and terrible humans period. Also called to speak with a manager about this... the bartender would not let me and hung up on me 6 times. Unbelievable. Traveling... and have no idea how it's okay to treat people like this. Cars zoomed by me and then an abandoned lot that resembled the walking dead before I arrived to the brewery. But I mean, it was worth the mild heart attack, and it was my fault I guess. Once I arrived, I got a flight. Rail IPA - delicious. Caramel color to it. Cloudy. Not too hoppy and has some sweetness to it. Really enjoyed this IPa! Baltic Porter - Smokey. Roasty. Not my fav. Community porter - much better. Roasty, but not Smokey. Chocolatey. Full bodied and creamy. Cold Beer - this ones lives up to its name. Just a cold beer. It's a cream ale but it's very light and refreshing. Crush this in the hot summer months. All great beers but the atmosphere here is what makes this a 5 Star place. I sat in the courtyard surrounded by awesome graffiti. I was alone. All alone. What a quiet place to be surrounded by creativity. We came here for a private party and it was great. The buildings are so unique and the outdoor space was really cool. We had a collection of beers for the party and I opted for the cider. This is definitely one of my regular drinking spots and on my list of top Asheville breweries. Beers: I have never had one there I do not like. My favorite is the Caroliner Weisse, especially with the Cheerwine add-in. Iron Rail IPA is the go-to for most people. Beertenders: The beertenders are always super-friendly, amusing, and willing to offer selection suggestions. Food: A rotating selection of trucks (one truck per day) are there daily. Deliciousness! Building/parking: They have parking, but it can be tight at busy times. The indoor and outdoor spaces both accommodate groups and are aesthetically-pleasing. There is overflow parking in surrounding lots. The bathrooms are plentiful and always clean. The building sits near the train tracks so if you are sitting outside, it is fun to watch the trains going by. They have free WiFi. Events: The Wedge Foundation (note: the location on Foundy St) hosts group events. My work has had our holiday party there in the past and their Cloud Room is gorgeous, has a separate bar, and affordable. Definitely consider hosting your next group event there. As a huge fan of Wedge's location in the River Arts District I was very happy to visit their newest location Wedge at Foundation. The huge perk of this location is that the inside is significantly larger so if the weather is not as nice you can move the party inside. The outdoor seating area offers several places to sit as well. If you are hungry, food trucks are on site daily. Wedge is a chill spot to grab a few beers so I definitely recommend this brewery. During our time in Asheville we visited a lot of breweries, and all things considered I think this was my favorite. I haven't been to the other location, but I'm pretty glad to have gone to this one. The six of us all tried different beers and were pleased with our choices. The prices are very decent, the bartender was friendly, everything was clean, and there was plenty of seating. It wasn't too crowded; but it was early afternoon and there were couples, dogs, and babies galore. Be prepared to see some groups of giggling bridal parties, the space is too nice and Asheville is such a destination spot it's almost unavoidable. Be sure to walk around and check out all the GORGEOUS graffiti/art all over the place. I'd love to come back on a warmer day and play some corn hole and spend a little more time outside read more

Wedge brewery is another classic Asheville establishment. I loved going to their original location but I am glad they have opened up this second one for the colder months. We've recently adopted a dog and he had some mild separation anxiety so in order to preserve everyone's sanity we took him out with us a lot. It proved to be a challenge in the deep of winter, but Wedge at Foundation is dog friendly inside! They've got a great space with lots of tables and of course, great beer. They also carry wine and cider which is a perk for me, since I'm not really a beer drinker. Another great perk is that 12 Bones is right next door and you can grab food there and pair it with a Wedge beer! They also have a semi permanent food truck on site, Melt Your Heart so even if 12 Bones is closed you'll be able to grab a bite. Highly recommend Wedge and are excited to see them growing! read more

Came here for a day-after-wedding party, and it was a nice venue with wonderful service! The hosts had a buffet going on inside and open bar service with a great selection of their beers. The bartenders were great! They answered my questions patiently and were very friendly. It was nice that there was outdoor space for the party to spread out. They had corn hole going on and even a food truck for the patrons in the public space. The only negative (so minus one star) was that it was incredibly loud inside. I spent the majority of the time at a nice outdoor table. That was really the only way to have a comfortable conversation with others. Besides this, we had a nice time at the Wedge! read more

My wife and I stumbled across this brewery while at 12 Bones - they have a connecting hall. Wedge has excellent beer. I especially liked the Iron Rail IPA and my wife liked the Kolsch. The Iron Rail is an English style IPA (similar to an English b and more balanced than most American style IPA's. The staff was very friendly. I admittedly came to Wedge at Foundation under the impression that I was visiting the highly recommended Wedge Brewing at their original location. A little confusion looking at a printed map for the River Arts District ended up bringing us here to one of our favorite stops in Asheville! Although I am sure this area is "safe enough" for foot travel, my little knowledge and gut instinct are gonna recommend you make this trip via car or bike instead of walking. It's only a short distance from the main River Arts area but the road doesn't look too pedestrian friendly. Pulling up you pass large buildings that appear abandoned and are covered with colorful graffiti. In fact, almost every wall of all of the surrounding buildings (to include Wedge) are all decorated with graffiti artwork everywhere you look. Definitely makes for a unique experience and feeling! One of the things that really made us love the location. The Foundation's setup itself is awesome. There is a main outdoor area with lots of seating, ping pong, corn hole, and a spot where a food truck pulls right up to park and serve. The inside area is much more spacious than their other location and has lots of seating at tables and some at the bar. There is also a courtyard type patio on the other side of building that has even more tables for seating and a great display of graffiti all around you. We had such a good time admiring all of the different artwork while we tried a couple of their different beers! We would have stayed longer if we weren't determined to also make it to the original location we had intended to go to!! read more

I am thrilled about this location! It still even seems like a local secret or a hidden gem! I want it to stay this way forever... Whilst the Wedge Brewery in the river arts is packed with people, children, and dogs, Wedge at Foundation is a getaway and a retreat for the locals who want to enjoy a beer in peace. Although it creates quite a lunch rush (12 bones just moved into the same building) the back patio is something to enjoy without dust in your beer or cornhole in your face. It's in the graffiti park which makes for great scenery and they have ample parking which is always a plus. The service is quick, the bartenders are friendly, and it is the great Wedge beer that you know and love. I have been frequenting this place since it opened and I don't foresee myself getting sick of it any time soon! read more

Great location with a nice indoor and outdoor area. We enjoy the outdoor space to let the kids play. The beers here are great. There is a blond server there who is so sweet and efficient. She helped us choose a kolsch for my husband who doesn't like hoppy beers and always had a smile. I find a lot of breweries to have really serious, cold people working there, so she was as breath of fresh air. I wish I had her name to compliment her. Anyhow, the beers here are awesome and the food truck on Tuesday is Tin Can Pizzeria which goes so well. They have a pizza and beer special which is an amazing deal! Love this place. read more

This review is based solely on customer service because we didn't stay long enough to try any beers or hang out. We were visiting Asheville and of course wanted to visit the breweries this great city has to offer. Well we had been walking around seeing some of the art when we walk into this location. The fact that there wasn't any other people in here should have been a sign, maybe it's not busy on Thursdays, but the restaurant on the other side had a line going out the door. Anyway, being tourist, we aproach the bar and ask the girl about how there is 2 locations on our map, we asked her what is the difference between the 2. She said this one is the new one. Ok but how are they different I ask. All she could say was that this one was new and even told me she didn't know what I was trying to ask her in not the friendliest attitude. Maybe I should've rephrase but I feel like a bartender should know a little more about where she works. So as I'm trying to get more info from this unhappy unfriendly bartender, a group of 3 young women with a dog comes in. She shouts at them that they can't have a dog here. The girls seem confused and say they brought the dog last time. The bartender doesn't say oh sorry we don't allow that. She just says repeatedly there is a sign outside saying no dogs. So the women ask her if they can order drinks and take there dog outside to the patio. The bartender, again in the most unfriendly and rudest tone says "I mean...no?" So me and my bf at this point were put off by her attitude that we walk out and so does the 3 women with the dog. We are used to southern hospitality back in TN and so far asheville has delivered that, but this bartender's attitude lost 5 customers on a day when it seems like it was struggling for business. If I visit again I may try the other location and definitely will not be recommending this one to anyone I know who is going to be visiting Asheville. read more
