A really cool spot and especially love that you can order food from Gan Shan or Pizza Mind and they'll bring it to you. Beers are good and plenty of seating both inside and outside. It was a little hot inside but seats near the fan helped a bit. You order your drinks at the bar and they do have other things besides beer like cocktails.

I was here last year & again this week. Great atmosphere, great food venues in the same complex serving pizza, thai, and a morning bakery. The beer flight I had was excellent -- I also had a nice stout to cap off the evening. Sky was a terrific bartender and I look forward to stopping in when I return to Asheville. There is plenty of parking;, indoor, outdoor & rooftop seating and some fun & friendly local gatherings. The Haywood W Aville area is very nice.

Nice craft brewery in West Asheville. Various options for indoor and outdoor seating including regular tables, tall tables and picnic style tables. Atmosphere is friendly and relaxed -- a casual neighborhood kind of place. We had a couple flights of beer. The bartender was helpful by offering suggestions and answering our questions. He was efficient with our orders. They don't have a huge number of beers to choose from, but we easily found 4 for a flight. Our favorite was Talking to the Plants -- a light, crisp beer with a very pleasant taste profile. Next was the Belgium Blonde, another light beer, with a different taste that was refreshing. Phantom's Embrace was a very tasty dark Czech lager with a nice, malty taste. Last was False Antagonist: a sour Berliner Weisse with raspberry lime. It was unusual and I wouldn't drink a full pour of this on its own, but we had ordered Asian food from Gan Shan West (in the adjacent building) and this beer went really well with the sauce on the General Tso's chicken. We also had Buckingham Malice nitro. The beertender had warned us off a bit on this one, but one of us tried it in their flight. It was, as the beertender led us to believe, filmy. It was a strange word he used to describe it, but if you taste it, you'll know exactly what he meant. It was the only beer we tried here that we didn't like. As I mentioned, you can order Asian food from Gan Shan or pizza from Pizza Mind and they'll bring it to you at Archetype. Good beer, casual atmosphere, less "divey" than some of the craft breweries in Asheville & two food choices (one on either side), it's a great choice on the westside of town.

Anytime I find a brewery where I can bring my pup indoors, sip on a cold beer and bring my own food in, I'm all in. Archetype is all of those things and more. The beers we tried were solid - I enjoyed my Imperial IPA, Shoulder Devil, which is looks to be a popular one, to this day. They have a good list on tap and is switched up seasonally. My only regret is not buying some cans of Shoulder Devil to go. Dog friendly, good beer, ample space and you can bring outdoor food? Check check and check!

Nice brewery! Friendly bartender. Plenty of space inside and out. Love that you can order food from Pizza Mind and another place from your table and they'll bring it to you!

They participate in Harvest Hosts so we were able to stay in their parking lot in our Class B RV. The atmosphere was wonderful and everyone was friendly and made us feel at home. We don't drink but they had a large selection of mocktails and local sodas. We enjoyed dinner from Gan Shan who served us in the restaurant. It is centrally located and we walked around the neighborhood. Highly recommended. Check it out you will love it.

This was a decent brewery. We were there on a Saturday but it was empty. The beers are quality but not special. I knew more than the beer tender. Ordered food from next door. I wouldn't go out of my way to get here but if I lived close by I'd visit.

On a recent visit to Asheville, this was one of the closest breweries to our rental. We were there on a Monday night and the scene was very laid back. We ordered a couple of beers and relaxed on the patio while we waited for a food order from the pizza joint that is on the same property. The gal behind the counter was sweet and chatty. Her beer recommendations were right on and we would love to go back the next time we are in the area.

I have come to this brewery quite a lot as the location is incredibly convenient and it's a pretty good space for meeting up. I really like that they are inclusive space for everyone and they make sure that is known- with staff and decorations and signage. They also have single stall, gender, neutral bathrooms. The first two times I came here I found the staff to be quite rude. They seemed much more interested in their own conversations and friendships than serving people. Lately, however, the staff seem to have changed. They are incredibly warm and engaged. They are friendly and suggestive and knowledgeable about the product. Love it. I do have to be honest in that I really don't like the beers. I'm much more of a light beer drinker, and I find these ones to be pretty heavy and very hoppy in general. I have been pleasantly surprised with their wine selection. The prices are fair too. This is also a brewery that says nonalcoholic beer and other options like sodas. Really appreciate that. At times because of the layout it can get quite loud. We're here for trivia once, and it was one of my least favorite Trivias in town. The questions were too hard and the guy while nice was a bit too talkative , monotone and wordy. When it is not loud, I do like this is quite open and they are dog friendly. I also like that you can order food next door. Overall a great neighborhood place and community meet up. They have excellent events and a good vibe.

Very cool brewery in Asheville that I found using the handy dandy Yelp app. *pats self on back* They are taking the pandemic serious which made me feel very safe. Dogs are allowed inside and outside on a Leash and must be well behaved. We brought ours and he did great!! You can order food and have it delivered. We chose to scan the QRCode on the table and ordered from the Asian restaurant from next door. They brought it right to our table! Very cool

After visiting breweries on the South Slope, I am so glad I visited the west Asheville location of Archetype instead of the downtown location. Much more chill experience than I had downtown at others and imagine it would be the same. This taproom is located in West Asheville, not far off I-240. There is a pizza joint next door, if you require sustenance while grabbing a few brews. There was no food truck on Saturday when we were there. Walk in and the bar is to the left. There are tables inside and you can easily tell they do a lot of barrel conditioning, as there are barrels across the back. I tried a few beers here and they scored consistently in the mid to upper 3s (Untappd), which makes for a decent brewery. I had the beertender choose and he chose the original blonde, unruly mystic (coffee porter), and Harrison Fjord (Pale Ale with Kveik yeast, giving it a bit more fruity characteristic than a normal Pale). Very pleasant talking with other tourists and the two beertenders. Wish they had a barrel aged beer at the time I got there, as I would have taken one home.

Yelp should let you do half stars. The atmosphere and service were great: 5 star. We came on Thursday which is music bingo and had a blast trying to identify songs (we were pretty terrible). Dogs are allowed inside ... so 5 stars for that aspect. The beers were mediocre...and it's a brewery in beertown, so I have to weigh that pretty heavily. I tasted the talking to plants Belgian wit (which is usually one of my favorite styles) and it was a bit sour. Cowboy poet American lager was so light it was almost tasteless. Buckingham malice (nitro) was ok but nothing special. Didn't care for the hazel heroics brown ale, ethos pale ale, or death happens farmhouse ale. The Unruly mystic coffee porter was the only beer I actually liked. So 3.5 stars. Come for the atmosphere, maybe not the beer.

Puppy friendly.

Right away the place had a cool vibe, not just a regular brewery where you go in and drink a beer. It had a lot of interesting decor and you could tell they really lean into their own weird, artsy style. The decor was colorful and fun, with murals and random quirky details all around. It kind of had this dark but playful look to it, which somehow worked really good. The beer garden area also gave it a laid back feel, and the whole place had way more character then a normal taproom. The beer menu was creative too. There were plenty of beer choices and I got the Sinister Gaze of the Unapologetic Imperial Stout. With a cool name like that it fit my mood from the heat. With cocoa nibs, sea salt, vanilla bean, and that rich stout flavor, it sounded bold and kind of dramatic, which fits the place perfect.

The outdoor seating area is spacious and fun with old cars turned into self imposed selfie stations (guilty as charged) and a haven for sticker placements. Bartenders were great once served. Lot's of eclectic spice and vegetable beers, but the pairings are generally interesting and well done. They also have a few more traditional beer styles, if that's what you're in the mood for. The space is also very nicely done. Plenty of room at the bar. A somewhat dark and muted color tone that created the feel of a slightly rustic and understated space. I liked it. In terms of food, I ordered a mediterranean bowl and was pretty happy with it. Reasonably well presented. Some evidence of investing effort in creating an individualized concept. The ingredients were also very fresh. The toppings also fell within a reasonable balance. It wasn't overwhelming. It wasn't the best salad of this type that I've had, but it made for something crisp and fresh to pair with a pint. All that having been said, my suggestion would be to go for the beer. If you want to order food alongside your beer, that's secondary.

I had a house salad and some dilly beans for lunch. The house salad was fresh and extremely well balanced. I'm glad they had something vegetable centric available. The dilly beans were good, but quite a bit for a single human. They're probably the type of thing you would want to split among friends. I actually showed up for an event in the evening where they served pizza using dough fermented with one of their yeast strains. That was truly excellent.
