We stopped here after eating at the restaurant across the street. The area has quite a few breweries and cool places to check out. We decided to stop in before heading back to our hotel. The interior is pretty basic with a bar to the left as you enter and seating to the right. There is outside seating some covered and some uncovered. I walked up to the bar and ordered one of their IPA's and my wife and I took a seat inside. There were definitely some locals sitting at the the table next to us. My wife and I chatted and look around a bit. The interior was nothing special, just a hangout place. There was a little bit of swag behind the bar. It appears they have about 13 of there own beers on tap. My beer was good but nothing significant. Overall it was a nice stop and a good experience but they really need something more. It kind of left us wanting. Maybe we visited on an off night. We would probably not come back.

Mountain Hopshine! Sorry, I drank half of it before I took the picture.

Extremely friendly staff, deceptively comfortable wood chairs, beautiful tables and honestly, I just love the feel of the taproom. I get a kind of cabin + beach vibe, but without all the bugs and sand that mess things up. 13th Meridian is a solid, solid milk stout, but I was especially surprised by their NEIPA, Mountain Hopshine (which I was informed is their most popular as mine kicked the current keg halfway through the pour). I don't often rate beers higher than a 4 on Untappd, but this one exceeded that for me. If you're a beer fan visiting Black Mountain, definitely make this a stop.

    Flight of four delicious beers

Great brewery away from the crowds in downtown black mountain. Lots of seating- indoors and outdoors. Bartender, Sarah, was super helpful and friendly. I got a flight of four and loved all four of them- toasted hazelnut dunkel, floyds raspberry wit, mad beats Irish red and on the trail golden ale. Limited food- basically pretzels. Come here - you won't be disappointed!!

    Guess Who!

Located two blocks from downtown Black Mountain, sits an assuming industrial building that sits half empty and half occupied by this place! Some friends and I were in town for a long weekend and were luckily staying 100 yards away in an AirBnB on S. Ridgeway, so this place was almost literally in our backyard...so, of course we wondered over on a Saturday night! We arrived around 9:00 PM and we had the place to ourselves and ended up hanging out until they closed at 10:00 PM. Service - The bartender was absolutely wonderful! (We visited on 2/23/19, so I hope she gets a shout out!). She was super nice, knowledgeable and all around fun! Decor/Layout - Not a big place, but the space is well laid out and utilized. They have two entry doors, the first is in front of the bar and when you walk in you are staring at the bar directly in front of you and then have about five 4-top tables to the right. The other entrance, in the same room, but opens to the big communal table and the "arcade" area that features Golden Tee and a pinball machine. The decor is perfect for the area and a brewery, its sporty via the surfboard and kayak hanging from the ceiling then country by the heavy wood furnishings and industrial style mason jar lights. Atmosphere - Laid back and local. Location - As mentioned, it sits on the corner of S. Ridgeway and State Street, right across from Fresh Pizza and is literally a short walk, about 2 blocks from downtown Black Mountain. Parking - Private lot, plenty of space Price - Great! Pints average $5 each. Now, we can talk about what this place is known for...the beer! While this was my first here, the bartender educated me on how they do things and what they got going on! They usually try to keep around 10 - 12 beers on tap, and a few non-alcoholic options as well. They have a variety of styles from IPA's, Stouts to Sours. If you end up liking what you got and want to take it home, they sell Crowlers and Growlers of their beer! Overall, this place seems like a gem in Black Mountain and it certainly has 7 new fans for life!

Very nice nano brewery. Our server was super sweet. The beer is very good. And we got free pretzels with a Flight, how awesome is that?

Thanks for being a part of the Black Mountain Ale Trail! What a fantastic outing with our fun and knowledgeable ale trail blazer, Siler! We're somewhat familiar with the area but now know more about the breweries, restaurants, and local history. We will definitely return to Lookout Brewing every time when we have friends and family visit the area! Thanks again for an awesome time! Definitely 5 !

Driving to Asheville from Catawba Falls Boyfriend and I decided to check out a few breweries in Black Mountain, stop no 1: Lookout Brewing Co. Nano breweries are the best because you get to try experimental beers! Boyfriend and I purchased a flight of 8 - my personal favorites were the Jive Turkey (a beer with roasted pumpkin and squash), Stout and Black Mountain IPA. This spot is chill too with good company. If you are around the area, check them out! Note, this brewery is dog friendly as long as they are on a leash!

We visited Lookout Brewing for the first time this week, and we were impressed! We stopped in after hiking Catawba Falls. The bartender ROCKED IT--she knew every customer by name and their usual order. (Clearly, we were the tourists.) I enjoyed a pint of the Apricot Saison, while my husband liked Alison's Front Porch, Birthday IPA, Dam Break IPA, and Kyle's Song. The flight came with a cup of water and pretzels. The brewery is dog-friendly inside. They don't serve food, but they have some chip options if you're getting the munchies. We will definitely come back to Lookout next time we are in the Asheville area!

    Lesley S.

12 different options on tap with some interesting flavors. Dam Break IPA was a solid choice. Few others such as On The Trail Golden Ale missed the mark. Overall place was fine but missed that energy that makes brewery spots amazing. I will say you can can one of those delicious IPAs to go. Amazing and totally worth while.

At the time we didn't realize that Roberta Flack was born in Black Mountain and the mural on the side of the historic building was in fact Roberta! When you step inside it is cozy and comfortable but we could see there was a large outdoor space as well. I stopped in at the counter and decided to order a pint of their Hazy IPA. We wandered to the outdoor space which is two levels, we explored the upstairs area first since there was a thunderstorm we thought it would be cool to watch the rain and lightning while sipping on a cold beer. We also learned there was a food trailer at the back of the property, which looks to be a permanent resident. They offer items such as pulled pork, poutine, brisket, and more. We ended up chatting with other customers and had a really enjoyable afternoon. We enjoyed our time at Black Mountain Brewing and will absolutely be back!

The first cool thing about this brewery is that it taught me that Roberta was from NC, which I did not know. So, we decided to go and immediately it took be back to the golden era of small breweries. I loved the atmosphere here, again it took me back to when craft beer was a community, and not an industry as it is today. I had a flight with the steam beer, pale ale, West Coast IPA, and barleywine. Everything was on point and very well made. My friend had the American Lager and we also tried the Czech-style lager, which ended up being my favorite. A huge plus and thank you to our bartender who brought us delicious, in-house freshly-made pork rinds! If I lived in the area, this would be my Cheers.

They took time to engage in casual conversation and created an atmosphere that felt personal and welcoming. A particular highlight was the owner's involvement throughout the meal; visiting the table on several occasions to personally describe each dish, which proved invaluable given our limited familiarity with South African cuisine. Ambiance: The setting strikes an ideal balance between relaxed and charming. We dined al fresco alongside the garden and farm animals, lending the experience a distinctive, unhurried quality that felt refreshingly unpretentious.
