Made a first visit to a Chuy's today. I was well impressed. Love the ambiance and decor. Even enjoyed the classic rock piping in. We had the fajitas and an enchilada and taco entrees. Warm chips and salsa were served upon seating. The fajitas were char grilled and cooked to perfection. The chicken enchilada and beef taco were also tasty. Our server, Jessica was friendly and accommodating. Beware, they will ask if you like sour cream on the side. It sounds like it's complimentary, but it adds about $2.50 to your check! This isn't authentic Mexican food but rather what Texas thinks Mexican food should be. All the staff were SO FRIENDLY!!!! From the moment I walked in and even as I left (greeted with someone opening the door for me) staff was on their game! Server was great. I've dined at Chuy's a few times over 10 years, so it isn't normally on my radar. I chose this location as a centralized meet-up for some old friends. I ordered the burrito bowl, yet there was no tortilla bowl, only three large curved strips and a somewhat filled oversized plate/bowl of food divided into small piles. The fajita steak was cold as was the rice. It took some convincing the woman expediter to have the meat re-heated. I didn't understand what the debate was--I prefer my hot food hot, especially traditional fajita steak! I added the boom boom cheese sauce (which had a skin, so it had sat a while, too) as recommended by the waiter only to find it contained heavy cilantro, something I had just mentioned to my waiter to omit from my order. I concluded that a better bowl is found at any given casual burrito fast food restaurant. The waiter was attentive at first, but nowhere to be found after the meals were served. The atmosphere was a bit like a Mexican circus suitable as a kid's restaurant--not very inspiring. I think this will be my last visit to Chuy's. read more

Where do I start! The menu is very limited....not too many choices. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that plays Rock type music and I really hated the decor and the paper fish on the ceiling. The food was NOT GOOD at all!! No flavor...no seasoning. I had the Carbon chicken taco which consisted of sliced chicken and onions ONLY...no sauce or juice...just dry. It came with guacamole, rice, refried beans, tomatoes and cheese on the side but none of that helped it taste better...not even salt could wake that sleeping chicken up. Stopped here while traveling and it was my first visit to a Chuy's. I was seated quickly but it took awhile for anyone to come over. Once he did, the server was good. Plenty of parking, nicely decorated inside. Liked the atmosphere. The burrito comes with your choice of sauce over it and I chose the one with cilantro. The burrito came out hot and was filled with ground beef mixed with another sauce. The star of the show for me was the chips. Wow, light, crispy and slightly seasoned. Excellent. She had such a positive attitude and a warm smile. She also checked on me frequently and made some great recommendations. We eat here OFTEN, and usually I would have given the place 5 stars but our last experience was lackluster at best. For starters the lady seating us pulled the chair out from under my husband resulting in him falling on the floor. Host didn't say anything, didn't apologize, just stared at him on the ground. (Example: Chicken tacos were beef) The real kicker was when a family was sat next to us. They were brought drinks and then no one ever went back to their table. I wish I could leave a better review, but my experience was so terrible that giving one star is the only option. My boyfriend and I stopped by for lunch last week. Everything tasted pretty good until about midway through my meal, when I took a bite of the chicken enchilada and found a fairly large bone. If I had swallowed it, I definitely would have choked. If a small child had gotten it, I shudder to think of what would have happened. I do not think that finding a bone is unforgivable, but what was unforgivable was the staff attitude about this. When I showed the waitress the bone, she did not seem surprised. She said she would get her manager. When her manager came out she was not even apologetic. She said, "Well, this will happen when you hand pick all of your own chicken" as if this was an everyday occurrence for them. I was shocked, and honestly appalled that she didn't seem at all concerned nor did she offer a sincere apology. What was even more shocking is that we were still charged for our meal even though we weren't able to finish half of it because of being so grossed out from finding the bone. When I tried to use my free entree coupon, I was told that it would only give us 50% off for this visit. The only thing I would recommend to management is that if this is a common occurrence, put a warning on your menus. If you think it's acceptable to find bones in your meals, then give people the option of not having this experience by warming them!! I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

I hate leaving a bad review to a place I used to enjoy, but here we go.. I had not been to a Chuys since before the pandemic, and unfortunately it seems that they have not recovered.. The service was fine, but not great. We were unable to sit on the patio due to them being understaffed. Quick note, there is no longer a salsa bar, so we ordered two of the sauces in their menu, one was a red sauce, which I'm pretty sure was marinara, not bad... just not a chipotle sauce as stated. The second was a jalapeño/lime ranch.. which only seemed to be plain ranch, with a green color.. I ordered a steak burrito, which was not good and I did not finish, my daughter ordered nachos that were dry and did not live up to the hype of nachos..she also ate not even half. Tonight I had the opportunity to attend my second Yelp event. The event was held at Chuy's, a Tex-Mex restaurant. I knew that we would get to sample some of the food, but let me tell you we had a full course meal. If anybody left Chuy's hungry, it wasn't because they didn't give us PLENTY of food. It was a nice event with the managers of Chuy's telling us some interesting facts about Chuy's. The first Chuy's opened in 1982, but the restaurant in Greenville opened seven years ago. Someone actually squeezes fresh limes every day. Nothing is frozen and the sauces are made fresh every day. All of the food is prepared fresh every day. We were given name badges, a goody bag, a drink ticket for one drink of your choice and we got to watch a demonstration on how to make the Perfect Margarita. At each seat a menu of the food we would be eating was placed at each plate. Fresh house-made chips, chunky salsa and a ranch type dip was placed on each table. I thought we had to chose one item from the menu, I had no idea we would get to try everything on the menu list. My drink of choice was a blackberry frozen margarita, it was delicious. Our food tour started off with an appetizer plate of Chile con queso, nachos, quesadillas, chicken flautas with guacamole and sour cream. My favorite appetizer was the chicken flautas. It was a fried tortilla shell stuffed with shredded chicken. Their tortillas are made fresh daily also. Several of their signature sauces were brought out for each table to try, and each sauce explained if they were mild or hot. We dined on Steak Burritos, Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom Enchiladas, Veggie Enchiladas and for dessert a piece of Tres Leches Cake. The Steak Burrito was to spicy for me, if you like a kick to your food this has one. You can choose a mild sauce instead of the spicy hatch green Chile sauce that's served with the burrito. All of the food was delicious. I would like to thank our new ambassador, Kelly for setting the Yelp event up, it was really nice meeting her and meeting and sitting with Viv and Jan, two very nice and fun people. I would also like to thank the managers and staff at Chuy's for the southern hospitality, the DELICIOUS food and for making us feel like family. Don't forget Saturday February 22 is national Margarita Day, with drinks and food specials,so come on out to Chuy's and get your margarita on!! read more
