Under the Mango Tree & Midori Margarita (no booze in the mango drink)

Not a fan! Just wanted to eat, walking around at the Collection and place looked cool... We walked in, they asked if we bought tickets? Huh? We said for what? We just want to eat? The gal says oh we have the fight on so it's $5 per person. We should've just left! But we didn't-The place was practically empty, there were pre-lim fights on, the main event wasn't for a couple hours so what a lame set up! We seated ourselves, service was ok but so disappointed in the communication or... lack there of- neither the hostess or our server ever told us about the street taco bar which was a fraction of the cost of the tacos we ordered off the menu which were nothing special, flavor was ehh and so overpriced! My husband and I ordered $15 drinks, his tasted great (could definitely taste the booze) but mine had no alcohol in it so I brought it to the bar and told the Bartender there's literally no alcohol in my drink and he says he's sorry but he measures the jiggers for all drinks and I told him I'm sorry there's no alcohol in my $15 drink! He was a jerk about so I told our waitress who was standing right there, witnessing the conversation, to please add another shot - they charged me $12 for an extra shot of vodka! Ridiculous! Way to take care of the customer. We definitely wish we went to Yardhouse and do not plan to come back. Clearly I do not recommend coming here.

    Friend's birthday

My friend really enjoyed the Mariachi a couple Sundays ago. We kicked off his bday season there with a few friends. The brunch was amazing. Great staff. Thank you.

Went to Sunday brunch for father's day. Got a table for 3. They sat us at a table for 4 leaving an empty chair. The food is very good for buffet style but a bit pricey and the omelet and drinks are not included. Omelets are cooked on a propane style burner. Long wait time for an omelet. The mariachi is impeccable. Here's my issue and reason for 2 stars. A friend joined us late as he was no a part of the original plan. He just wanted to have drinks and enjoy father's day with us. Staff would absolutely not seat him at our table unless he purchased the buffet. They would rather have an empty chair generating no $ than someone join and spend $ on drinks. Management did not budget and did not serve him. Would not recommend due to service.

I was walking by this spot and it reminded me how much my wife misses it, so I decided to step in and see what they had going on during the week--thinking it might be a good date night idea. I was greeted by Miranda, one of the staff members, and she was fantastic. Super informative, patient, and professional. She took the time to walk me through their weekly schedule and gave great recommendations. Thanks to her exceptional customer service, I'll definitely be bringing my wife back here soon. Looking forward to enjoying some live music and great vibes!

I wanted to post my review and my response to the absolute reprehensible person "Jack D" First...Copper Blues is a great place with wonderful food, friendly/professional staff and a relaxing atmosphere. I've never had a bad experience at this establishment. Second...to "Jack D" your first sentence shows you are a horrible person who delights in belittling people he sees as "less than" himself. Troy is the kindest most generous person I have ever met. His being in charge at Copper Blues shows him to be intelligent and HIGHLY respected as well as very professional. Judging someone on how they look or dress is disgusting behavior. I'm sure they won't miss your business as patrons like myself would not miss you taking up space and spreading your messages of hate and intolerance. Maybe look in the mirror at yourself because from what I'm reading...yes, you are a bigot. Keep up the great work Troy and Copper Blues staff!! I WILL be back with friends!

    Zachary J.

To Jack D, Let me get this straight, you aren't a trans phobic person but you continue to hate on someone for how they feel they feel comfortable to dress. The fact that you choose not to go somewhere just because of how they look is very disgraceful and honestly immature. Im very disappointed to see a review like this floating around and I can't tell whether I should take it seriously or not. People such as yourself don't deserve to be respected out in public and especially at an establishment where they obviously are open minded to where they want their staff to feel safe and important. Shame on you for making a 1 star for your insecurities in public. The reason why so much hatred falls around everywhere is because of people like you. Honestly just knowing that two "clients" who are highly opinionated to discriminate aren't coming back just shows that Copper Blues will be better without you being there. It's pretty harsh to say but I'm pretty sure this yelp was inspired by a 9 year old who has characteristics of someone who highly falls in the loneliness category. Let me just tell you, Troy is an amazing guy and a well respected staff member at Copper Blues. It's hard to say that someone like him would be hateful but obviously that doesn't apply to you because you have the deepest stick up your ass that is mind controlling you. God bless you

We didn't have a chance to try food, but the drinks were pretty good. Service is quick, and ambiance is cool. Fun place for Friday night

Wow my husband and I happened upon Copper Blues while waiting for a restaurant reservation and I'm so glad we did. We sat at the bar for drinks around lunchtime and it was starting to fill up. We each ordered micheladas and loved our drink. You can't do micheladas wrong, but it seems like each place can do it a little differently and we loved this variation. More and more people were filing in and then we realized why... a full on mariachi band came in, they took shots of liquor, and went on the stage... that's ONTOP OF ANOTHER BAR. The atmosphere here is so lively and fun, you are definitely there to have a good time. Service is fast and friendly and the inside decor is absolutely gorgeous. We didn't have a chance to try any food but it looked and smelled delicious. We were enjoying our time here so much we didn't want to leave! Definitely making plans to come back and stay longer to get our dance on. Seems like a great place to gather with friends and have a blast. - J

Fun place if you want to enjoy some live music, and easy to stop in before or after seeing a comedy show at Levity Live. When my friend and I stopped here before going to a comedy show Saturday evening, we never had a server come over to our table and the QR code on the table wasn't working either. After waiting for over 10 minutes I finally went and ordered at the bar. The bartender took our order and it was ok from there. The nachos are a fairly small plate but tastes pretty good! Pretzel bites were ok but nothing special. It started getting crowded around 8pm so probably a fun bar to come to with friends, just not the place necessarily for good service or a nice sit down meal.

But it is different when you need to escape the chaos and a "bad" day/week. Not only it is the confort food we seek, but it's the atmosphere! Adam, our FAVORITE MANGER, always takes the time to stop by and say hello. We met him as a server and since then he was one of our favorites! Another favorite person is Josiah. His energy is so positive, it turns our frowns upside down and we leave this place feeling like we received the hug we needed for years. He wasn't our server tonight, but he stopped and made us feel like we were family! And I cannot forget Kat and Viktor. Our server was awesome and took care of us. Viktor took his time to check in on us. Please come by Lazy Dog in Oxnard, when you are celebrating something, but more importantly, when you are not having a great day, you will leave feeling embraced!

I am not about to stroll into Oxnard and pretend I am some linen-shirted coastal ethnographer with…read morea tote bag full of artisanal certainty. I had never been here before. I was merely a road-battered pilgrim, six hours removed from Oakland, washed ashore near the freeway at the velvet fringe of Ventura County, in that glossy new development called The Collection, where every building looks as though it was approved by a committee whose mission statement was: Let there be ambient lighting and retail optimism. My dinner choices arrived like mildly desperate contestants in a televised pageant. Cheesecake Factory told me the wait would be twenty-five minutes and that they would text me. Reader, I assume that text is now trapped in a ravine somewhere, being nursed back to health by quail. Then there was some steak place whose name dissolved from memory before I finished looking at it. So into Lazy Dog I wandered, hungry, tired, spiritually fragile, and very open to persuasion. And I have to admit: the place has a certain charm. From the back at night, Lazy Dog is weirdly enchanting. The warm lights, the patio glow, the bottles shining through the bar, the whole thing looks like a lodge designed by someone who wanted to seduce exhausted motorists into believing life is still full of promise. Yet the actual entrance is oddly easy to miss. The restaurant is basically playing hard to get. A chain restaurant with mystery. A flirt. A woodland princess in practical shoes. Inside, the vibe is part upscale sports bar, part polished suburban den, part "let's make everyone from picky teenagers to diet-conscious moms to semi-hungover road warriors feel included." Buffalo Wild Wings, but after therapy, better lighting, and a semester abroad. The seating is not what I would call voluptuous. You are not sinking into a cloud of velvet mercy here. But the room is lively, social, and good-humored. It hums in that specific modern way that says yes, you may order tacos, noodles, a burger, or a cocktail with fruit in it, and no one will judge your lack of culinary allegiance. The cocktail situation was fun. I had the raspberry sangria, which tasted less like old-world wine-country sophistication and more like Hawaiian Punch got hired by a vineyard. It was bright, sweet, cheerful, and only slightly ridiculous. A prom queen in a stemmed glass. I did not hate it. I also did not see God. 3/5. Service was reliable, friendly, and sincere, which in today's dead-eyed hospitality landscape feels almost mystical. No fake grandeur, no attitude, no emotional frostbite. Just kind, competent people doing their jobs without making me feel like an interruption in their evening. That deserves respect. The menu is broad enough to make you nervous. Burgers, Italian-ish things, Thai-ish things, tacos, bowls, pizza, noodles, probably a diplomatic treaty if you ask politely. Usually a menu this sprawling suggests culinary panic. But Lazy Dog somehow lands on the right side of chaos. Not transcendent, not revolutionary, but steady in a way that is more useful than many trendier places would like to admit. The fried hard-boiled deviled eggs were the surprise star. In theory, this is the kind of appetizer that sounds like America whispering, "What if we made the picnic more reckless?" In practice: very good. Crispy outside, creamy inside, faintly absurd, and impossible not to admire. 4.5/5. The shrimp tacos were also solid. Bright, fresh, avocado doing its usual California diplomacy, pickled onions bringing color and sass, and the whole plate looking just photogenic enough to make younger foodie civilians feel seen by the algorithm. 4.3/5. The shrimp Thai noodles were decent too. Not an oracle, not a revelation, not the kind of dish that makes monks ring bells in the mountains, but flavorful and more than respectable after a long drive. 3.8/5. That may be Lazy Dog's real strength. It is not trying to be a sacred culinary temple guarded by tattooed sommeliers and fermented foams. It is trying to be open late, fun, dependable, and welcoming enough to make a tired traveler feel the night still has one last good chapter in it. And after six hours in the car, that is not nothing. That is grace with parking. So no, this is not the hidden gastronomic throne of Oxnard. But it is a lively, late-night, good-energy landing pad with charming exterior glow, sincere service, fun drinks, and better food than a cynic might expect. Would I come back? Absolutely. Mostly because Lazy Dog fed me, comforted me, and acknowledged the passage of time, which is more than I can say for Cheesecake Factory. Also, points for being open until midnight, because some places close early as if adulthood itself should have a curfew. Lazy Dog, by contrast, understands the nocturnal needs of the weary, the under-caffeinated, the gossip-prone, and the mildly glamorized freeway drifter still chasing one last decent meal before surrendering to hotel-sheet oblivion.

We called Larsen's and they had an open reservation at 7:30 PM. We were greeted with friendly faces, a joyful ambience in the restaurant and it was definitely Christmas. We had two dinners of lobster tail and one of the pork chop. This was a preset menu, which was very representative of their excellent food. The pork chop was probably the best pork chop we've ever had in our lives. It was prepared sous vide style and so tender, juicy and seasoned perfectly. The lobster tails were good size, broiled, but a little dry and not much flavor but the butter made them all better. We still enjoyed it and really were happy to be there. We tried 3 of the desserts. The maple bourbon crème brûlée, the butter cake and their house-made Keylime pie. There were three of us eating and we all tried these options. We had two thumbs up on the crème brûlée, one thumb up on the butter cake and no thumbs up on the Keylime pie. The Keylime pie was similar in our mind to a cheesecake (huge piece, super creamy but it's not what we were used to. The crème brûlée was delicious, but we didn't get much maple bourbon flavor. The butter cake tasted and felt like a cake doughnut, delicious but not what we expected. We also enjoyed the maple carrots side dish, it was fantastic! In Ventura's industrial area, the Cave is a nice, cozy restaurant that is hidden in the Ventura Wine Company shop. We were greeted by live music which made a lively atmosphere. They have the self vending wine machine with a decent variety of wines for all. I'm going to be honest - I did question the pour size. We ended up buying a bottle of wine at dinner instead and I'm pretty sure that was the economical choice plus it gave me peace of mind. I will say - the plating of the food is strange. Giant plates for small portions never really sits well with me. The kitchen's "thinly sliced" waygu steak was also off putting visually. The Jumbo Scallops w/Leek & Truffle Risotto ($46) is a must order. Scallops perfectly pan seared and that risotto I would eat by itself. The Lemon Chardonnay sauce was incredible. The Slow Braised Beef Short Ribs ($39) was okay. The meat fell apart as it should. The red wine sauce was okay but lacked depth. The creamy mashed potatoes were very good and seasoned perfectly. Wasn't mad that I tried it but would not order again. Wagyu Top Sirloin 12 oz. ($48) was very good despite the poor slicing. The creamy mushroom sauce was perfect to add some flavor but not overpower the protein. The Pepperoni Pizza ($18) was decent for my son. My daughter planned to order the Seafood Pasta until she saw all of her favorite things combined: Mac and cheese, bacon and pizza - the Mac and Cheese Pizza ($21) was honestly top notch. It wasn't overly heavy, the depth of flavor was great and it's extremely tasty. The spicy aioli was top notch. Overall, a good experience at the Cave. I recommend giving it a try.
