I am new to Yelp and was intending on giving Coppers a stunnng 5 star review.. I had the time of my life last night. Cinco De Mayo was amazing at Copper Blues. Thank you to Troy the GM and Miranda the server. We had a blast. Now unfortunately I hate to go negative but in posting this review, I noted a review by Mari who states she got kicked out because Coppers wanted to move her table into the aisle, because the table next to hers couldn't get into their seats.??? I was at that table!!! Mari, we asked you to slide you table over 6inces at the most. Your response to us was disgustingly rude and obnoxious. You then proceeded to yell at the manager and head of security. THEY JUST ASKED YOU TO MOVE OVER SO WE COULD GET INTO OUR SEATS!!! The real truth about your review was when you were booted for your rude and obnoxious behavior, your friends decided to stay. Says alot about your character. Me and my husband came here for our valentines to chill while we waited for this other restaurant. Random pick and honestly it was amazing the food that they have is really good. The servers super friendly even the manager. We had order some asada fries and they seemed to take very long along with some drinks and we had let them know because our son had not eaten and they offer to pay for everything which wasn't needed but I love this place will definitely will be going back! read more

The service was great but got kicked out because they wanted to move our table to the aisle, that's a hazardous place to put a table. As it was i was getting hit by purses etc Mind you I had 2 drinks in 3 hours. Iwas not drunk but I spoke my mind. The security didnt even let me speak. According to them they were right. Went for taco Tuesday where the margaritas were supposed to be $5 and tacos $1.50 our waitress was very sweet and we had a great time however the next day when I was going over what we paid, we got over charged. There were an additional 4 drinks that we did not order and about half of the margaritas that we ordered that were listed in the special, the discount was not applied so we ended up paying full price for half the margaritas when they should have all been $5. Again the waitress was sweet and very attentive I just think it got too busy for anyone to handle we also overheard the security say they were short staffed and didn't expect such a huge crowd that night. read more

Not a fan! Just wanted to eat, walking around at the Collection and place looked cool... We walked in, they asked if we bought tickets? Huh? We said for what? We just want to eat? The gal says oh we have the fight on so it's $5 per person. We should've just left! But we didn't-The place was practically empty, there were pre-lim fights on, the main event wasn't for a couple hours so what a lame set up! We seated ourselves, service was ok but so disappointed in the communication or... lack there of- neither the hostess or our server ever told us about the street taco bar which was a fraction of the cost of the tacos we ordered off the menu which were nothing special, flavor was ehh and so overpriced! My husband and I ordered $15 drinks, his tasted great (could definitely taste the booze) but mine had no alcohol in it so I brought it to the bar and told the Bartender there's literally no alcohol in my drink and he says he's sorry but he measures the jiggers for all drinks and I told him I'm sorry there's no alcohol in my $15 drink! He was a jerk about so I told our waitress who was standing right there, witnessing the conversation, to please add another shot - they charged me $12 for an extra shot of vodka! Ridiculous! Way to take care of the customer. We definitely wish we went to Yardhouse and do not plan to come back. Clearly I do not recommend coming here. read more

Went to Sunday brunch for father's day. Got a table for 3. They sat us at a table for 4 leaving an empty chair. The food is very good for buffet style but a bit pricey and the omelet and drinks are not included. Omelets are cooked on a propane style burner. Long wait time for an omelet. The mariachi is impeccable. Here's my issue and reason for 2 stars. A friend joined us late as he was no a part of the original plan. He just wanted to have drinks and enjoy father's day with us. Staff would absolutely not seat him at our table unless he purchased the buffet. They would rather have an empty chair generating no $ than someone join and spend $ on drinks. Went for a show... which, by the way, on its own was 5* - huge shout out to Copper Queens! I'll be back for them, I will NEVER eat the food here again. Don't let them fool you with the street corn ribs like they did to me. They were so tasty they made me feel confident in ordering from the rest of the menu. Big mistake. Huge. Maybe I should've been tipped off by the fact that nobody else in the place was ordering anything other than chips and drinks. A bigger clue should've been the waitress who said she was leaving and made us close our tab before the food was out, wouldn't let us see our bill before paying, and wouldn't let us change the tip amount from 20% for a party of 2 (chargeback pending). I made a joke to my husband that she wasn't actually leaving and just wanted her money before we could complain. It turned out it wasn't a joke. She never left. She knew what she was doing and she avoided us like the plague after. The food was DISGUSTING. Fish taco = tough (wtf) dry fish stick on a tiny tortilla with dry ass plain shredded cabbage on top. That's it. Potato taco made by people who have never had a potato taco before. Cubed potatoes on a tortilla with a piece of cheese melted on top ain't it. I had to send my fake "enchiladas" (microwaved tortilla with filling) back as I ordered cheese and received gross dry chicken. The plate came back quickly with the corrected "enchiladas" but everything else on my plate was ice cold. No flavor to either of their 2 salsas. The red tastes like mild enchilada sauce with less flavor. Green sauce is a blended green tomato with some lime juice. And that's coming from someone who doesn't eat spicy food. My husband's chicharron taco was 2 pork rinds straight from Baken-ets on a dry tortilla. That's it. That's a fucking joke and so far from what an actual chicharron taco should be, you should be embarrassed. He was able to only get through one bite of his Chile relleno as it was completely inedible. Serving Mexican food this bad in Oxnard is really bad joke at best... but damn near borderline racist for just how bad and absolutely wrong everything was. I'll never be fooled again. read more

I made a reservation a week in advanced for Friday at 7 pm. As I'm driving ALL THE WAY to Oxnard for my dinner reservation I got a text, an email and a call that my reservation was cancelled. I get there and they tell me they don't make reservations. Then the voicemail said they had a big event planned that night and my reservation was cancelled as a result. It ended up not being a problem as there was plenty of seating but I wanted to note this as that is really bad business practice. Do not cancel my confirmed reservation an hour before the reservation because you aren't organized enough to know what events you have planned. The food was mediocre. Chips were basic. Quac had no umph to it. Burrito bowl was good ish but I wouldn't say it was something to return for. The waitress was good - very attentive, friendly. read more

I've never had a bad experience at this establishment. Second...to "Jack D" your first sentence shows you are a horrible person who delights in belittling people he sees as "less than" himself. Troy is the kindest most generous person I have ever met. His being in charge at Copper Blues shows him to be intelligent and HIGHLY respected as well as very professional. Judging someone on how they look or dress is disgusting behavior. I'm sure they won't miss your business as patrons like myself would not miss you taking up space and spreading your messages of hate and intolerance. Wow my husband and I happened upon Copper Blues while waiting for a restaurant reservation and I'm so glad we did. We sat at the bar for drinks around lunchtime and it was starting to fill up. We each ordered micheladas and loved our drink. You can't do micheladas wrong, but it seems like each place can do it a little differently and we loved this variation. More and more people were filing in and then we realized why... a full on mariachi band came in, they took shots of liquor, and went on the stage... that's ONTOP OF ANOTHER BAR. The atmosphere here is so lively and fun, you are definitely there to have a good time. Service is fast and friendly and the inside decor is absolutely gorgeous. We didn't have a chance to try any food but it looked and smelled delicious. We were enjoying our time here so much we didn't want to leave! My friends and I had a terrible experience at this unorganized establishment. Do not purchase any cut the line tickets. It's a SCAM. The table in front of us did not pay $100.00 for 3 persons like we did. When we arrived there was no line! To add to this rip-off it took an hour for anyone to serve us. We were told to arrive at 5 pm. Are they crazy! The music started at 10:30pm. Did they expect us to sit for over 5 hrs! I've NEVER come across such an unorganized restaurant/venue. Fun place if you want to enjoy some live music, and easy to stop in before or after seeing a comedy show at Levity Live. When my friend and I stopped here before going to a comedy show Saturday evening, we never had a server come over to our table and the QR code on the table wasn't working either. After waiting for over 10 minutes I finally went and ordered at the bar. The bartender took our order and it was ok from there. The nachos are a fairly small plate but tastes pretty good! Pretzel bites were ok but nothing special. It started getting crowded around 8pm so probably a fun bar to come to with friends, just not the place necessarily for good service or a nice sit down meal. read more

You can grab drinks from the servers or the bar located in the rear. I heard the bar consistently has great talent coming through, so check them out when you are in the area. read more

This an ok spot to come dance and have some drinks. They charge a $5 cover fee to come after certain hours. I have been here before as well and do not come one hour before they close because security will not let you in. They have a DJ with a mix of hip hop/pop/latin music. The dance floor is what I am not a fan of because it is small and people tend to push others around. Although security sometimes is on top of that and will remove rowdy people. You also cannot drink and dance so you have to drink at a table. Their drinks are at a decent price and are made well. I have had their nachos before as well and I would recommend those. read more

When I first tried this place last year in February I loved the place from the service to the food & the mariachi! Everything was amazing. Later on that same year but in September of 2024 I went for my birthday. I got a rude waitress but didn't let it ruin my birthday as the vibes & food was still good just not the service. We got bottomless mimosas & cheered with my family and all of us drank our mimosa. The waitress came & said "you guys cannot be doing that. No chugging" which I've never heard of that before at any restaurant that serves bottomless mimosas. I let our waitress know that we are paying for it so we can drink it however we like. She just gave me the stank eye. I asked for the bill & paid our tab & still had the audacity to show me the tip screen which obviously I did not give her a tip!! I then went again on Sunday August 31st 2025 to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were seated at a table for 2. We tried the food & it was not so great. Our server was no where to be found until after 15 minutes we were seated. I ordered only one mimosa & a cup of water & my husband ordered the bottomless mimosas. I was drinking my mimosa pretty slowly & my husband had already finished his mimosa. Then comes a different waitress refills my water cup & refills his cup with another mimosa. After a different waitress comes under the name of Lorena and serves my husband a third round by this time I had already finished my mimosa but Lorena proceeds to ask if I got the bottom less and I said no I only got one simple mimosa. She then calls the second waitress over to ask her if I was served 2 mimosas & she proceeds to say "yes I served both of them" & me and my husband were in complete shock & said "What no you didn't" & she proceeded to say "yes I did & you're going to get charged for it but whatever I'm not going to argue with you guys" & left. We told Lorena that we can check the cameras & that will show that I wasn't served twice but she just said "no it's fine" My husband then asked for the bill & Lorena was very passive aggressive saying "just give me a second okay" with a straight face. When she came back we made sure we weren't paying for another mimosa. the total came out to $128!!! EXPENSIVE NOT WORTH IT!! Lorena still proceeds to show us the tip screen which obviously I put 0!!! She left & gave me no receipt I had to track her down so she can give me a receipt!! We were there for less than an hour!! Sucks because the mariachi plays amazing! I have been going to Sunday Brunch for 3 years now! I love the Mariachi all of them have an amazing strong voice! The food is just really really good when I go. I love getting the taquitos with the fruit and then I get the rice and the salsa. That's my favorite and the drinks are amazing. However, the people that worked there is what makes the place better and that's why I keep on going back. It starts with Troy G! He is just very helpful. He's always friendly and for my 50th birthday he went above and beyond to accommodate me and my friends! he answered every question I had never seemed annoyed, never looked bothered. So I believe that is where it starts there and other way staff the girls are amazing. They are very very friendly and they're always smiling. If you love Mariachi and you love drinks and chips and salsa and tacos and great ambience copper blues without a doubt again I believe that it starts with management And the customer service and that is why I keep on going back thank you Troy. Came here to eat and get a drink with family. Service was a disappointment. Our family got sat down and our waitress took our drink orders. It took a while to get our drinks then there was a long period of time that our waitress did not come to our table. We had to ask another employee to see if they can send a waitress or waiter to our table. We still proceeded to wait for another 10-15 minutes. We all wondered when we would actually be helped and we even considered to just go elsewhere then our waitress finally came and took our orders. Not all the food came out, I had to place my order twice. By the time everyone was done and ready to leave I barely got my food and another person in our group still waited a while after that to get her food in front of her. Nice little vibey area with good events throughout the month - check em out ! The bar is full circle so there's service on both sides which is nice & the bartenders were quick and attentive. I love love love their drag queen shows - that's my favorite thing about it ; in those days (or large even days period) ... their service could be a little slower but it's to be expected . This place is just awful. I went here very consistently for the drag shows and that's it. I stopped going for about a year, and came back recently for the first time. Same horrible service and same bad attitudes from the staff. Doors open at 5:30, no one was there to let the 3 groups of people in. When the three small groups go into the seating area we get stopped by the tall lady with the big black rimmed glasses . "Do you have reservations?" We all said we have tickets. She replies with "do you have RESERVATIONS?!" Lady talks to us like we're stupid. What the heck does that even mean I have physical tickets in my hand - are those reservations?? I don't know but all she needed to do was look since she clearly didn't have the 10 seconds of breath to clarify what she was asking. Why so much attitude? Copper Blues never fails to mix up food orders as well. I kid you not there were 3 tables when my friend and I ordered food. I got someone else's order. My past 10 visits , without fail this always happens. My friend's CHICKEN nachos were below average at best. Soggy and vegetarian... chicken nachos. I sent it back. Oh and they were out of most beers. My friend only got to order one of the two beers on tap. Bartender said the delivery didn't come or something. Oh the first waitress we had was lovely besides the fact of mixing up the food(no a big deal but like I said happens without fail). But she made me saddle up the bill early so she could clock out her shift. I asked for a physical copy as my friend and I needed it to see who pays for what. My friend had stepped into the bathroom so I paid for the bill with no receipt to see who owes what. I never got a receipt. I'm not sure what's the deal with this establishment. Most of the staff seems irritated when they're asked about anything. We asked a new waitress who replaced the first one, for a beer - said we need to order at the bar. My apologies I will not ask anyone to do their job at this establishment. I've worked the food industry and retail. So I get being busy and overworked so maybe it's a top - down issue? All I know is if I come here for drag shows I eat before I come here and I order 2 beers. Between the two of us we spent about $180 our past visit. I will come back for the entertainment. Im not ordering anything but beer though. TLDR: The entertainers are what makes the experiences worth enduring the horrible service. Food is bad and will get mixed up, staff has short fuses and you get the brunt end of a staff member's bad attitude. Eat before you come and order beers to satisfy the two item minimum. read more
