Great, casual dining experience for breakfast. Their muffins are to die for and their coffee is delicious.

Autumn was the person that assisted us, will say patient as explained the process. When Autumn saw I was struggling with the on-line menu, Autumn brought us paper menus, THANL YOU! The selection was great, plentiful, which made difficult to select. My friend got the portable mushroom Benedict, the sauce was cold and it had very little flavor (I tried it and yes cold and no flavor). When asked to heat the sauces, it returns to the table even colder. Must say that was a disappointment. I had the Irish hash, cornbeef was fresh and the cabbage was good. Sad enough, not much corn beef and even less cabbage but LOADED with hash browns. Again, not as much flavor as hoped for. Love the feel of the establishment, more so the decors and ceiling. I not sure I would go out of my way to return because the food temp, minimal flavor, and using a large amount of potatoes to hide the minimal corn beef & cabbage. . read more

There seemed to be a good amount of regulars dining in, but newbies like us were warmly welcomed. We let our server know it was our first time. What a fun unexpected treat! Stopped here on our way to the zoo. From the moment we walked in the attentive and very polite waiter was helpful. He welcomed us and gave us a quick run down. Came here for brunch with a friend and I can't complain, everything tasted great! I made my own omelet and it was truly stuffed to the brim. They don't skimp on portions that's for sure! Just remember to come with a charged phone so that you can order and pay from it (this was new for me). It really streamlines everything and the servers are pretty on top of it all. read more

This place was packed when we got here for breakfast, parking was a the same. We were immediately greeted and were able to take a seat outdoors. Thankfully, it wasn't a terribly hot time of day and we ended up being moved indoors before our food arrived. The place is has amusing wall decor. The coffee station is self serve and endless. There were several unsweetened flavored coffees along with unflavored coffee. Freshly brewed and piping hot, it's a good cup from nearby Screaming Cat Ice Cream & Coffee. Hubby ordered the ultimate sandwich and was shocked to be unable to finish it. A half sandwich is more than enough for a single serving. The taste was right on with a nice crispy bacon and gooey cheese. I had the southern duo, which was tasty, but needed a little extra kick. The biscuit was a nice treat with the gravy. The chicken was good, but I wanted something more with it. Some more crunch or even additional flavor profiles. Was more than enough to share or have another serving later. Servers were highly friendly. To be noted, there is an automatic 10% tip added to the bill. The server made me aware they aren't able to accept any tips. At the end of the check, I was prompted to leave an additional tip on top of the automatic tip. I am concerned this is not going to the employee directly. This was our first visit to this establishment and we will be back. I had the Irish hash for breakfast. Everything was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed the unique mix of flavors. Decided to check out Cool Moose Cafe for breakfast. It's a pretty casual-style establishment with a waiter/waitress to assist you but you have the ability to order/pay through your phone which I thought was neat. We got there early so it wasn't much of a wait but after 11:00 it began to get pretty busy. I ordered the French toast and a side of home fries with added chorizo and American cheese. I will say the food was pretty standard - not bad but definitely something I could replicate at home. Cool moose cafe is a small cute breakfast/brunch place in the Riverside/Avondale area. We went on a Sunday morning and did have a little bit of a wait time, ~30 minutes but we went down the street to a little book shop while we waited. The food was good, it was flavorful, typical of most brunch places. They had buy one get one mimosas which was nice and those tasted great! They also gave us a complimentary toasted muffin since it was our first time there. The coffee is a self serve bar and you have to either order from a QR code or go up to the counter so not much interactions with the waiters. This is old time favorite of mine. I took a friend who has never been and she's already planning to return. She had the blueberry coffee with complimentary morning glory muffin. She also had cool moose breakfast which I told her she'd never finish most of which she took home. I ordered rise and shine breakfast which was just as big as cool moose anyway. This is an interesting place. The menu that is handed to you does not have prices on it. The scan of the menu does have prices. And you can order and pay for it thru your phone. Or you can walk up to counter and order but you get hit with a 10% fee. Either way it is very eclectic style of restaurant. Had the rise and shine breakfast and did the self serve coffee bar with a pretty good selection of regular or flavored coffee. I ordered my breakfast with English muffin. And it was grilled. Very good. Breakfast was very good and people that work there are very helpful. Just a bit different style of restaurant. We dined in for brunch. Service was fast and friendly although they have revised their process since my last visit to online ordering or ordering at the counter. We ordered bogo mimosas (available weekends only), harvest hash (seasonal item with brisket on the side), meat lovers quesadilla and pancakes to split. It's been years since I've been to Cool Moose & my has it changed. I wish I could say for the better. They only take orders at the cashier or on a QR code at your table. The food choices have not changed much. The menu does not show pricing. This forces you to go online to see prices. The Grilled Veggie Pita was tasty with Pesto & Feta Cheese. The 2 egg breakfast with 2 Turkey sausage patties were ok. Ambiance is informal. Though the two wait staff I saw are very nice, they lost the warmth I remember so well. Our first restaurant stop on our road trip from Tampa to NJ. This cafe is not too far off of our route. The restaurant itself has character. Staff were friendly. We haven't had the opportunity to try this place yet and when it was available on the Too Good to Go app, I thought it would be a perfect way to sample some items. The offer was for $18 worth of coffees and pastries for 5.99 + tax. I received two 16 oz. coffees (largest cups they had available for to-go) and a container with two pastry items, a whoopie pie and a peach walnut scone. There were 4 coffee options to choose from and I chose the Blueberry (smelled yummy) and the Cool Moose Blend. I enjoyed the Blueberry coffee, not a fan of the other. The whoopie pie was okay, but the cake part was very stale. The scone had nice flavor, but was more like a dry cake than a scone. Although the items were worth more than what I paid, their value was not $18 as described on the Toast online ordering app. It looks like a cute place inside and the service was fine but based on this experience I'm not sure I would return to dine in. read more

It was my first time here and was pleasantly surprised by the solid choice for breakfast in Riverside. Tips: 1. Buy 1 get 1 free mimosas on weekends. Can choose OJ or pink lemonade as the mixer. 2. Arrive early when it opens at 8 AM. Gets crowded pretty quickly and not much seating inside. They anticipate a wait so they even put chairs outside for people to sit while they wait. 3. I really wanted to like this place-the atmosphere seemed nice and I had high hopes-but unfortunately, my first visit didn't leave the best impression. It took quite a while for our waitress to come take our order, although the rest of the time she was great. and when I asked about one of the menu items, I was told it didn't include fruit (even though the menu listed it). When it arrived, it did have fruit on it, which made it soggy. The home fries were also much greasier than expected, to the point that I couldn't eat them. I'm hoping this was just an off day, because I can tell the restaurant has potential, and I'd love to give it another try sometime. read more

What a fun breakfast joint! My husband and I selected this spot for breakfast after I ran the DONNA Mother's Day 5k, and I am so glad we did. We put our name in, and the hostess immediately directed us to the self-serve, bottomless coffee. Wow were seated fairly quickly, and were introduced to a new-to-us system: we had a server to tend to us, but we ordered ourselves via a QR code. We paid right when we placed that order, and that was that. Our server was lovely. She offered me a complimentary coffee or mimosa since it was Mother's Day, and even went so far as to give me a choice of juices. The Desayuno was delicious! So was the Moose breakfast. It's a lot of food! You serve yourself at the coffee bar. The coffee was cold and she offered to microwave it. That's not impressive. As an out of towner visiting Jacksonville, it is only right to find the spots a new city has to offer. The Cool Moose Cafe did not dissapoint from the second we walked in the door, till the moment we left. Expectations were more than exceeded, from the staff, * Whos names I wish I remembered* to give them the proper shout out they deserve, to the most userfriendly QR code to place your food orders from. For starters as my friend and I were seated and chatting with one of the servers, it was discovered that it was our first time visiting, and without hessitation a heated up muffin of our choice was delivered as a warm welcome to the Cool Moose. I ordered the 'Mexican Bendict' that was crazy packed with flavor and modereatly customizable. You can choose how your poached egg will be cooked, I opted for the soft poached egg, which no fault to the cook was just a little too runny for my liking. And my side of home fries where seasoned properly and cooked with a delightful crispy outside, I would have enjoyed smaller cuts of potatoes. I also had to try the french toast, which to no suprise came out fluffy and sweet , served with what I assume is an in house made maple syrup and whip cream. All in all this was a very enjoyable brunch experience, I look forward to visting again, or making the reccommendation for others to visit and enjoy as well. read more

All around fantastic! I seldom write 5 star reviews but here is one for the record. It's a small, almost hole in the wall place that I found while exploring Jax on a Sunday morning. I ordered a Farmer's Omelette with brie and sliced tomatoes for my side because I am trying to watch my carbs. The young waitress, Lily, who I found out later was still being trained, was extraordinarily helpful and friendly. She even brought me a free muffin since it was my first visit. Like I mentioned, I try to watch my carb but I couldn't resist trying it. They actually sliced it in two and grilled it before serving it. I'm not a frequent eater of muffins but that was very possibly the best freaking muffin I have ever eaten! The menu doesn't have prices! You read the menu and then use your cell phone to scan a QR code that is at your table. It pops up with the menu and prices and you order on your phone. Lily told me NOT to add a tip because the restaurant adds a 10% fair wage fee to your total bill. All said my order came to around $17 total including tax, tags, and vehicle registration. I will definitely make the 30 minute trip to visit the Cool Moose restaurant again! read more

The home fries was well seasoned and quite tender but still had body which tells me the cook/ chef has been long time on the line. There are 6 different variations of coffee that is self serving which has you going pasted a bountiful dessert case that has an expanding gluten free options. 80's music plays gently in the background. Tried this small local spot out and had a nice experience. I was not drinking coffee at the time but they are known for good coffee. They have a new system where you either pay at the register or pay online from your table (waiters do not take your orders). They have raised prices significantly but clarified that they do not expect a tip. But, any tips will be donated to charity which is awesome! Process seemed annoying at first but was actually good because the staff still deliver food and check on you without making you wait on them or talk too much. Staff is very friendly. It was pretty salty and the frozen spinach made me gag. I think they offer a pretty basic breakfast. Nothing to slap your momma over. The service was great considering you order via a QR code. I've reviewed Cool Moose Café before (one of my earliest!). Since I was taking a friend there after visiting a nearby bookstore, I decided to update. The staff are just as friendly as I remember and we received good service. There are lots of items related to "Cool Moose" available for purchase, too. (I already had a heavyweight mug from my previous visit!) The food is still fresh and delicious, but I think the serving sizes are smaller. Also, in my case, the "Cubano" was supposed to be on a pressed roll but came on grilled bread slices l. Perhaps there was a misunderstanding but I was disappointed. It was tasty. My friend's Ham and Brie was similarly small but she enjoyed it and said it was enough for her. Her side of broccoli was super fresh and nicely buttered. My side of fruit was plentiful and fresh. I like the "Maine/Canadian"coffee house ambiance and she did, too. She commented, however, that the metal chairs were very uncomfortable. So, we enjoyed our visit but will be a bit more observant as to what we order and if there are more comfortable chairs next time. read more
