Since moving to Jacksonville, I feel like Southern Grounds is one of the places that keeps getting mentioned over and over again as a staple of the city. I really enjoyed the tiramisu latte. It was pretty sweet, and the coffee flavor came through really nicely. The pink cloud matcha was decent too. Decent in that it tasted good in general, but the matcha flavor itself wasn't really there. I would definitely come back for the drinks, but the food wasn't that worth it for me. They're generally on the expensive side, or the servings are super small. If you do order food, I feel like the brunch burger is the most worth it. It's a pretty hefty burger, with a perfectly runny egg. And the fries are well seasoned and pretty crispy. The salmon toast was a single skinny slice of bread with only two pieces of smoked salmon on it. Idk I expected like a heftier bread or at least some more smoked salmon. The whipped feta chicken sandwich was good, but nothing too special in my opinion. The chicken was on the drier side, but I really liked the foccacia. Southern grounds does seem like a nice spot to do work though, so I can see the appeal of staying there for a while and just ordering food for convenience's sake, but I think I'll stick to the drinks next time I come.

Hands down my favorite spot for remote work, they've got it all! From a great work atmosphere (outlets galore and work spots to meet your preferences), great drinks, and the food is fantastic! I stayed here all day, if I lived closer this place would be my go-to easily weekly, if not more. The staff stayed busy but remained upbeat and helpful.

Solid spot for breakfast. I got the breakfast sandwich which you can pick on a bagel of croissant. I recommend the breakfast burrito. It looked huge. Plenty of seating including outdoors that is right by the train tracks. Sells wine and mimosas.

Wow! Such a great coffee shop with ALOT of space. This would be fantastic for large groups. There are soo many seats. The coffee was fantastic, many different options. As well as the pastries! We will be back!

Stopped in this afternoon for an afternoon pick me up (dark roast coffee with cream). While this location has sparse parking even with the addition of their overflow lot to the east an Atlantic Blvd past the railroad tracks, I lucked out and found a spot in the main spot. Regardless of where you park, you better be good at 3 point turns and parking bc you will be doing one to get into or out of your parking spot. Upon entering the business, I was greeted and was surprised to learn they serve dark roast coffee this late in the day. The seating area is divided into two sides separated by the counter and kitchen. I opted for a dark roast with cream in a mug. Took my number and looked for a two top table among the mix of high school study groups, after school snacks and business meetings. Coffee came quickly and was hot and bold. No real complaints other than parking.

I stopped by Southern Grounds and tried their Cherry Vanilla Matcha Latte, and honestly... this might've turned me into a matcha girl. This was my first time really giving matcha a fair shot, and I was surprised by how much I liked it. The flavor was earthy and nutty, really smooth and comforting. I personally didn't taste much cherry or vanilla, but the matcha itself was good enough that I didn't mind at all. Service was pretty standard--quick, friendly, and easy, which is exactly what you want when you're grabbing a drink and settling in. What I loved most was the atmosphere. It's such a good mix of people--some working, some chatting, some just enjoying their coffee. There are plenty of outlets, lots of space, and it's definitely one of those spots where you can bring your laptop and actually get things done without feeling awkward or rushed. They also have food if you plan on staying awhile, which is always a plus. Overall, Southern Grounds feels like one of those dependable coffee shops you keep in your rotation--good drinks, comfortable vibes, and a great place to park yourself for a few hours. I'd definitely come back... and yes, I'd order matcha again.

I am so surprised I haven't reviewed Southern Grounds. This is a great place for sweet treats and coffee. I see a ton of people working here through the day. I don't come often, but I always enjoy the environment. It's nice to have your laptop and work here. Nice alternative to a Starbucks. The only con I do have is the parking. The parking lot is super tight and difficult to get out.

I'm impressed with the decor & art gallery here! The place is huge, got lucky with parking right outside the cafe. I'm obsessed with the high ceiling and decor here! I tried their popular Iced Macchiato, I can't really taste the coffee because the milk was overwhelming, could use more syrup as well because it was bland. The bagel with smoked salmon bread was also ok, taste wise, it could use a lot of improvement in my opinion. But overall, I had a good experience here, the ambiance is great, spacious place to catch up with friends over coffee! I also checked out the gallery next door, beautiful art! A must see if you're close by.

Came in for a decaf latte and to work from my laptop. I tried the pumpkin pecan muffin but was not a fan. The consistency is almost raw? Super mushy inside. And it's filled with raisins which I really was not expecting in a pumpkin pecan muffin?

Let's start off by saying I have been to a lot of coffee shops and this vanilla latte that I had here was one of the best that I tasted in a very long time. Korean steak bowl was so good, perfect match of spice and salty. There is plenty of seating inside and on the pack patio. The parking lot is really small so you may have to use there additional parking lot about a 100 yards away. The staff were really friendly. Chill vide, a great place to have a meeting or just a quick bite to eat.

    salmon tartine

I am very disappointed with Southern grounds in Neptune Beach. We used to frequent it often, but the quality of the food has deteriorated significantly. I ordered the salmon tartine - one small piece of bread, not even toast, the cream cheese, barely covered the toast, and there was a skimping of salmon and a piece of an interesting looking onion- $13.95 I tried ordering something different ,as I had previously had the avocado toast which also has become very skimpy with hardly any avo and mainly just feta cheese on top. Very disappointing presentation, quality and portion size. It really feels like they are skimping -and so disappointing as it used to be one of my favorite spots

Fantastic, new wave, coffee shop, very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, staff, wide selection of drinks and coffee origins, really nice holiday specials, and full menu! The café is in a really interesting space (maybe this building used to be a bar?) with tons of natural lighting, and a good amount of seating. It does seem to get a little busy where inside tables are not always readily available, but there's plenty of outside seating too.

Great selection of food, drink, and baked good options. Standard breakfast items and lots of lunch options including salad, bowls, and sandwiches. Parking is a bit tight, but there are 2 locations designated for customers. Loved the spacious outdoor seating patio! Food came out quicker than expected. Breakfast burrito was the favorite item out of the group. Probably wouldn't get a bagel again, but enjoyed everything else.

I also ordered their old world fashioned and was super happy. I try old fashioned everywhere I can and this one is definitely in my top three. Unfortunately, my entree was not as good as the rest of my meal. The flavor of the scallops was strange, I am guessing from the pea flavor. I love mushrooms and risotto, but this one was not good. The risotto was not super creamy, seemed a bit uncooked. Based on most of our meal, I would definitely return to try other entrees.

Reservations can be made via OpenTable, and I saw this suggested on Yelp so I decided to try one evening. Upon arriving, I marveled at the beauty of the interior design of the bottom floor that also serves as a gallery. I ascended the staircase as the restaurant is on the third floor. I dined alone as this trip I didn't have a coworker with me, but I still was seated in a cozy corner to take it all in. Isaac, my waiter, was incredibly friendly, and ensured I had everything I needed. What I Ordered: - Caesar Salad: This salad is as pretty good, but at a price point of $19, I would likely skip if dining here again. Though, it did have the perfect hint of lemon for acidity and the croutons tasted house-made. Perhaps if you added a protein, this could become your main dish and elevate it. - Lobster Roll: $36 for a lobster roll?! I was intrigued as this was noted as a signature dish and a standout for what this location is known for... and boy was I IMPRESSED! The roll was perfectly toasted, and the lobster to roll ratio was absolute perfection. The flavor of the lobster was juicy and tasted fresh. This roll was so good that even the neighboring table as they left asked how I enjoyed it. They were recognized by staff, so I believe they are regulars. We all discussed how delicious it was and I shared my thoughts on the execution of lobster to bread ratio. I dined here a couple weeks ago, and I'm still thinking about where in Arizona I'll ever find a roll as decadent. - Cappuccino: a mark of a truly well-crafted cappuccino is the sugar test. Will the foam withstand the weight of sugar or will it sink to the bottom (poorly frothed)? I had ordered and didn't realize they would put a design on top! Visually stunning, and happy to report they make a beautiful cappuccino with delightful foam. Added pictures to showcase the design they added, and the sugar test. The rooftop has stunning views, and the food is a work of art as well. Though I had a lighter dinner with a salad + lobster roll, I was impressed with the meal and would return to try more of the menu if I visit for business or personal reasons in the future. This area has lots of restaurants, but this one definitely leaves an impression and draws this foodie back in to return. Check it out if you are in the area!
