Went for a quick dessert treat at this spot and ordered a slice of Belgian chocolate cake for $4.23 and the taste was delicious. The service was fast and the place looks really clean and quite chill and you can even work here with your laptop or even hang out with a cup of coffee with a friend. This is a really nice spot for when you're down for a more low-key spot! I can see myself coming back to get some work done, as they have wifi and a few outlets. They have a pretty decent selection of drinks, both hot and cold. I got the chocolate mint latte which I actually was kinda neutral about, but I think I just ordered the wrong thing for myself. It tasted like a mint hot chocolate though! But I could still taste some coffee, and it seemed pretty good quality. So I for sure would order something else next time, but the quality was there! This was my first visit to The Coffee Grinder. You can tell immediately that this is a coffee shop embraced by regulars. All of the outdoor tables were occupied despite there being plenty of available indoor seating at the early hour. The vibe was cozy, casual, and friendly. I'm not sure if it was the owner or not, but his customer service was stellar. I really liked the cozy environment. I wasn't sure what I wanted to order, so I started out with water. I later inquired about the chai latte and asked if he could make it pumpkin. I was advised that the chai tea was pretty good on its own and was encouraged to try it, and if I wanted to add the pumpkin syrup later, he would gladly do that. I decided to try it his way, and I was not disappointed.I also ordered the tiramisu to go, and when I finally tried it the next day, I wished I had ordered two. I've been here time after time and figured it's about time I leave a review! I love this place! The owner is super sweet and loves what he does. They're super quick and friendly here. The atmosphere is AMAZING! It's the best place to come study, chill, and even have a drink as they serve wine! Or if you fancy a cigarette, there's places outside to sit and have a smoke with friends. I asked the owner about his bakery items one day, and he said they're all locally made. After wanting to visit the Coffee Grinder for some time, I stopped by with my wife for a quick late afternoon post-movie drink and snack. It's a laid back, throwback vibe-especially in terms of prices. I had a large cappuccino, my wife had a cafe breve, and we split a piece of tiramisu- all for just over $10. A large cappuccino or latte for $3.25? A large cup of coffee for $1.40? I paid more for a large coffee at Buc-ee's last month. Aside from the drinks being absolute deals, my cappuccino was quite tasty. Not the best I've ever had, but it was strong and hit the spot. The tiramisu was creamy on the top and full of coffee flavor (the ladyfingers were on the soggy side, but so it goes). The service was fast and friendly and there is ample seating inside and outside. If we didn't have a toddler, we'd totally take advantage of their late night hours. Maybe one day... I definitely plan to visit the Coffee Grinder again. Every time I pass by or I am in Jacksonville I have to come here! It's a must ! And they are open late which is a plus. They are so nice and quick with their service. Sometimes they have a line going but they can surely multitask by getting orders made as they also take some as well. I usually get a caramel latte iced and it always comes out perfect. I've been wanting to try this place out, and today I finally did it. I told myself "you know, you've been working hard, let's reward yourself with a latte." Hahaha weird reward to myself right? But hey, it's the simple things in life that we tend to forget that makes us happy. And this latte made me happy. The place is a small little coffee shop. It gives off a comfy, chill, relaxing type of vibe. There are seats for you to sit inside, and if you don't want to sit inside, there are tables and chairs for you outside to enjoy the fresh air and people watch, because you know, that's what we do when we sit outside. For my order, I got a chai tea latte. As matcha as I love a matcha latte, I sometimes chai away from it. Well, too, it's also because they didn't have any matcha options, hahaha. But if they did, I would matcha latte love me a matcha! The first sip got me good! It was so hot that I felt like I burned my tongue a little. Lesson learned, don't be too excited for hot things. It will burn you. But all in all, I let it cool down a little and tasted it again. You can taste the spice in the beginning, but gradually it fades away the more you drink it. This place is highly recommended!!! I ventured off into a coffee adventure with my friend today and she recommended The Coffee Grinder. I was in the mood for a hot latte when the Kona Mocha blended beverage was recommended to me. I had to look twice! $3.75 for this grande sized drink? With espresso?! Sure! My jaw dropped at how good this drink was! I will say the recommendation was spot on. This was incredible. The smooth, rich mocha flavor with espresso hit the spot. I'm intrigued because they also have beer and food! Not to mention they don't close till midnight. Tonight was my first visit at the coffee grinder and let me tell you, this place felt like home. The coffee grinder brought back memories of my Italian grandma between the taste of the coffee, the tiramisu they had for sale, and their focaccia and I got flooded with nostalgia. The owner of this shop was extremely nice and very caring and the environment was very cozy and warm. Around 10:30PM I found myself in need for a caffeine boost while I was doing some computer work. But every single coffee shop closes at 8:00PM or earlier so I figured I would be out of luck. Luckily, I did some Internet searching and found The Coffee Grinder which to my my surprise stays open until midnight! There's just something about working in a café that helps may get my work done in a more productive fashion so I'm looking for new places to try. My usual order is a vanilla latte which is just what I ordered, although their other flavors were intriguing like coconut cream, vanilla hazelnut, golden pecan, and cinnamon hazelnut. But you know what they say....if it ain't broken, don't fix it! My latte was very reasonably priced at $3 and was served to me in a cute little mug. This was definitely best coffee I've had in Jacksonville by far. It was absolutely creamy, and it didn't taste artificial or syrupy at all. I sipped on my coffee while enjoying the modern music of the shop. The owner and I then made some small talk and he was very pleasurable. I have been really digging the vibe at Coffee Grinder compared to other coffee houses and here's why. Think European meets College atmosphere. You feel as if you're hanging out in someone's home. The chairs aren't clunky, they have big couches, padded chairs and tons of outdoor seating (covered if it rains). A couple of other things I love are the insanely cheap prices. You can buy two large Americanos and it'll run you $3.85. Essentially it's two drinks for the price of one, when comparing to other local coffee roasteries. Honestly, this is not a typical, hipster coffee spot, but it's exactly what you need on a slow Monday morning to get your head in the right space. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating to study or chat with friends. The bathrooms and coffee bar are very clean and organized. They offer bulk flavored coffees and a variety of drinks as well as milk alternatives (soy, almond, oat). Many times I visit, I get to hear an assortment of languages and I appreciate the robust atmosphere. The prices are very reasonable and delicious. The employees are quick to greet and serve their patrons and I have never left dissatisfied by my coffee. I usually get a large Iced Mocha Latte with almond milk, no whip and it totals to about $4. A great hangout with friends and lots of seating indoors especially out. Interior- very simple. Very casual such a European feel with the coffees they include and the desserts. Most of the people that go there are from Europe as you can hear many Bosnian Serbian and Russian languages. The couches are simple and the walls have a kind of eclectic yet casual feel. Some decor seems to be from recycled products but nothing tacky. Coffee, smoothies and tea- they have a large array of coffees however, I usually get the strawberry smoothie or apple hot tea. The apple hot tea is not so sweet but so great to have on a cold day. It taste of pure apple with a bit of orange without any nasty over sugared feel. The strawberry smoothie is so delicious. It's not too thick and you can really taste the flavor of strawberries and they add a little drizzle of chocolate on the inner sides. Be careful though because they usually put too much whip cream at the top. If not into whip cream or cherries let them know beforehand. Desserts- cheesecake to European cakes and tiramisu. All are good and not too sweet. They usually change it up. They don't have much sweets on display, but the good thing is the desserts are always changing. The owner (Slava) will often be found working in the evening and usually has a fresh pot of drip coffee if you need a late night pick me up. The only coffee shop that I know that is open till 12 midnight in the Southside location. Probably because they also served alcohol and some days, they also have a DJ to play cool music. Went here twice already and I really liked the ambience. Despite the slightly loud music and the throng of people drinking and smoking outside, this is a chill place. Inside you can just relax and talk with your friends. The choices of cakes and pastries are not bad either. We tried the cheese Danish and it was perfect with our coffee. Definitely have mixed reviews for this place. I absolutely love the vibe and their shop hours. I'm currently working on my Bachelors degree so late nights are a given. It's hard finding nice looking study nooks that stay open late and the Coffee Grinder's hours are perfect. Nice placed outlets(always a plus) and various sized seating. Pretty nice. Now for the second portion of my review. The hours and low-key vide are their only redeeming qualities, in my opinion. The first time visiting, I got a cappuccino and my partner got a chai latte. Nothing too fancy. The cappuccino was OK, however, I wouldn't spend $5 on it again. I'm not a fan of chai but the latte wasn't horrible. Just wasn't my cup of tea(pun intended;)). My second visit was a bit of a different story. I had a project to work on with a classmate, it was late so we decided to kick it here. I(thankfully) opted out of ordering anything, but my classmate didn't. When she went to order her drink, the person working on her order grabbed the milk that had already been sitting on the counter, put it to his face and proceeded to sniff it.
