Their baked goods looked amazing but I'll have to try those on the next visit which will be soon. The staff were very polite, very informative and extremely helpful. Inside was a great chill vibe with relaxing music playing in the background and it's a fantastic place to get coffee, hang out or do some work. Came here for a coffee before our road trip- and the staff were very frown-y and unwelcoming, maybe they aren't morning people? The coffee tasted good but definitely wasn't strong as we both fell asleep fairly quickly after drinking it (thank goodness we had a person in the party that opted out of coffee and wanted to drive first). This is somehow my first ever stop in at Bold Bean. I went in with matcha or chai in mind but the first thing I saw was a peanut butter sesame latte on the seasonal list and knew I had to have it. If you are looking for a great local coffee shop with a hipster/chill vibe - definitely stop into Bold Bean. I stopped in to grab an iced matcha latte and catch up on some work. I did park on the side street at no cost. It was pretty busy for a Wednesday mid morning however I was able to find a table to sit at. I got a chance to watch the barista make my matcha and I was pretty impressed. Some places I have been to have it pre-made however, she literally took her time to whisk the matcha powder with hot water. It was pretty good as it was paired with almond milk. This was not sweet at all which I enjoyed unlike a lot of commercialized coffee shops. Working here was a great vibe and atmosphere. Everyone was so productive and it just made a perfect afternoon to get tasks completed. They do have free wifi and extended outlets for charging purposes. A coffee house staple here in Jax, one that used to be my go to/favorite. With so many options for coffee in Jax now, I'd say definitely pay them a visit but don't neglect the rest. I had a really odd experience last time I was here and not sure when I'll be back to the Stockton location. I placed my order but decided on a last minute change before checking out. Cashier seemed annoyed by that. We moved past it, I even still tipped of course. As usual I am waiting for my order with my husband standing nearby the coffee service area. We wait...and wait...and wait. We step away to sit at a table, thinking maybe they're backed up, we'll just chill at a table for a moment. Finally, I get up I see two drinks that had been sitting there as if they were ready to be picked up but the cashier who took my order, I guess decided to call for everyone else's order except ours to notify us it was ready. We watched him call for others and converse the whole time with the staff and other patrons but not us. VERY bizarre and I don't know what I did wrong. I just grabbed my drinks and left. Overall a great busy cafe especially for remote workers who like to stop in. It can get busy as it is a popular cafe. They have great drink and snack options. Also worth noting, their coffee is more bitter so for those who may not prefer a bitter taste this might not be a cafe for you. I think the vibes here have changed for me which sucks because I genuinely enjoy the coffee here but I'll just head over to San Marco next time! No hard feelings. read more

Very first time coffee drinker friendly! The menu explains the different milk ratios and sizes of cappuccino, macchiato, and latte. There are 5 options for pour overs, with the origins listed. We tried the Burundi Nyagishiru pour over and it has a delicious taste and a richness - not too fruity or floral, and not bitter. The coffee process were also reasonable. There's a lot of seating and beautiful art on the walls. The cappuccino was also well made with an option of all different milks, to include almond, oat, whole, and skim. I have been going to this coffeeshop since 2017 when I moved to Jacksonville. I am not a regular there anymore because I don't live so close to the shop anymore and because I got tired of the poor service. Most baristas don't bother to learn your name or coffee preference. The coffee there is very acidic and give me heartburn (other people I know say the same thing). Today I ordered a tea, light on ice. They charge +$0.25 more for light ice (that is honestly beyond petty in my opinion) because they said you get "more beverage". Well, not really, as you can see in the photo I took as soon as I got the tea, I got 3/4 - maybe half - of a beverage. Please do yourself a favor and don't over-pay for mediocre coffee, lame service and bellow average atmosphere - just go somewhere else. read more

My husband and I happened upon the Bold Bean Coffee Roasters a few days ago. We were visiting Jacksonville and were looking for somewhere nice to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine with a cold drink and a treat. We were greeted by a very friendly person at the front counter and our order was taken with a smile. We ordered two iced oat milk spicy chocolate lattes, a creamsicle danish and a guava cream cheese danish. We sat outside on the little patio to enjoy our food and drinks. The iced lattes were wonderful. The oat milk was so creamy and the flavour was just the right amount of sweet with a teeny bit of spice in the background. Both pastries were sooooo good. We loved that the restrooms said 'whichever' instead of having specific gender appropriations. We will definitely go back if we're in the area. read more

I've wanted to try this place for months finally made time to stop by. This is the exact atmosphere that I think of when I think of a "cafe" the decor is great. I had the latte with whole milk and I added a couple packets of cane sugar it was Perfect!! So fresh I loved it!! The ham and cheese croissant should I dare say "was one of the best I've ever had" taste like aged cheddar and uncured ham, I'll ask to be sure next time, and toasted to perfection. The roast is divine I ordered a cappuccino the Mr. got a latte he wanted to come since he was fascinated with the coffee art. Inside is nice and spacious full of art available for purchase. This is a great place to explore different flavors. I usually order the same espresso drinks but today they helped us find something a little different than our usual - iced cappuccino with spicy chocolate. It was refreshing and delicious! Many thanks to the barista for helping us discover something new. The seating area was great for socializing and conversation. The music was soothing and not too loud. Bold Bean is one of the better places in town for coffee that I have been to. They offer a new different roast each month called their "One Off". On the day I came they had a fruity flavored one which I got. It was very flavorful and I enjoyed it even though I am not a fan of fruity tasting coffees. The pricing was cheaper than Starbucks which was nice. The people working were really nice and answered all my questions. The shop has a cool casual vibe. There's plenty of places to sit down in there so you can enjoy your drink. It can get pretty busy. On the day I went I had to wait a little to get my drink. Parking here can be hard to find on certain days. It is street parking. Still worth checking out. read more

We are really hooked on this coffee. I have been going here pretty regularly for the last year, mostly to buy beans to go. The couple times I had coffee in the shop, the experience was enjoyable. The baristas are friendly, and it's a quiet place to work. Parking is usually available, but it does get busy on the weekends. The dark roast is our go to. We really are obsessed. I believe the beans are between $15-$20/bag. You can tell it's roasted fresh and each of the varietals have their own flavors. I highly recommend this local coffee shop! read more

Fun trendy place for coffee, lots of places to sit and WiFi. They have all the standard coffee drink options, house made syrups, almond & oat milk, swag, bags of coffee and also beer. I was a bit surprised at 6:30pm on Friday they didn't have any drip coffee available. We got americano which was good but oddly the splash of almond milk made mine almost cold and hubbys w/o and cream was like lava. Woke up this morning wanting coffee. I live next door to Starbucks, but I'm a bit more focused on supporting small businesses at the moment because of the Pandemic. My next closest shop was Bold Bean. Every time I drive past I think "that place looks so cute, I really need to go there!". But I never do. Well today not only was I craving coffee, I was out of my own personal stash. So I felt like this was the universe telling me to go, and I'm so glad it did! The place on the inside is so pretty. I get total Seattle/Vancouver vibes from here. It was my first time so I asked if they had any menus. They pointed to the HUGE one on the wall. Cool! They also serve been here!? (Another menu on the wall that I saw-but it was 6:30AM so I was going to have to come back yet again to partake in that good time ;) ). Anywho. I picked my drink and grabbed a London Fog for my husband because it's his favorite. I also grabbed a bacon cheddar biscuit! I got a Large Latte with oat milk. I just heard on a podcast how oat milk is the best non dairy alternative for latte art and froth and YUP! The guys here proved it! It was perfection! My coffee was epic! The taste was completely there. Oh so FRESH! Wow! I won't lie, I had a sip or two of my husbands London Fog and it gave me all the warm and fuzzy feels. These guys got it going on! My biscuit was insanely tasty too! I would 1000% recommend everyone go here! Haven't had coffee this good in quite a while-and honestly, I didn't think the East Coasters knew how to do it right, but I was proven very wrong today. I do wish they had a board with some speciality drinks though! They had some speciality syrups, but I'm no coffee alchemist. I def think making 2-3 seasonal speciality drinks and posting them big somewhere so people could see would be a super awesome added bonus! Because curry syrup sounds so wild and I wanted to add it, but I didn't know what in... Maybe they did have a board that I didn't see? There was a lot going on in there. And if so, they should definitely make it bigger, or post it closer to the drink board. Idk. Gosh, I'm quite embarrassed to give 3 stars because the baristas there treated me so so well and the ambiance is just so perfect. Customer service is literally the best. But to be honest... the coffee was subpar. I really hope it was just a bad batch that day. Let me rewind. So living in Jax for more than 2 decades this is THE BEST KNOWN coffee spot and THE coffee to compare to. I hate to have to be the one to say it but I was not impressed. Bold? I would say watery. Flavor ? Not very well balanced. My two orders were Iced Lavender Latte and Dirty Spicy Chai Latte. I need to know that my barista isn't just adding flavor pumps. That they know how to make those flavors work without it being the "holiday" or "seasonal" special they have a specific recipe for. Unfortunately, I could have made that same drink from my Keurig where the coffee is weak and the guessing game of flavors involves store bought lavender honey or my pre-made chai in a commercially prepared bottle. All I'm saying is, if I'm paying for it for $5+, it better not taste like anything I make at home as a non trained / wanna be barista. I really wanted to love it, I have just been to enough coffee places to detect when something is not up to my standards. Sorry Bold Bean. This was a nice local place. I liked that it was a pretty chill area, and friendly service. They make great coffee. It was a hip place, and seemed like an area of hipsters. Kind of a younger crowd, but not necessarily.. maybe just more young people then older. (18-30 crowd) A few people were older working on their computers. I got an iced dirty chai (chai with a shot of expresso). My friend got a cappuccino. And loved it. It was about $10 for 2 drinks. They had a good amount of seating, and also seating for a bigger crowd, like if you had a business meeting or something. They also had tables outside. I believe they had 2 out there, so not a ton, but it is an option. Some nice comfy chairs would have been nice, but they weren't uncomfortable either.
