I pass by this place everyday. I mean lieterally daily. I am a coffee buff and have to make up ground this year for my coffee post. It was not to busy for a Sunday morning. I got the wedding cake bliss latte. Wifey got the chai tea latte. The chai tea latte is one of my fav at another establishment, Ellianos. There were no bells and whistle at Brass tacks coffee. The counter oerson was so friendly. The other counter person called my name and I felt so special. This is probably the very first time, we sat down to lattes, talked and laughed. This is my go-to for fogs or lattes of any sort! I love the foods as well - specially the scones and biscuits (with or without egg & cheese). I usually don't stay long, but prefer the couch or chairs nearby. They're comfy. I love the decor and the Valentine's Day special products for sale were cute. This place is my jam! I work just down the road, and I frequently come here! The staff is great very friendly. As a regular, they are learning my name and I theirs. This is a locally owned company with their own local roastery. They have a couple of locations, and this is easily one of my favorites. There is good parking and great seating, both indoor and outdoor. The outdoor can be a little loud because of traffic nearby based on time of day. I don't mind it. They had outlets near all of the table so you can charge your devices. The chairs and tables are even comfortable enough for a long writing session! Much of my doctoral proposal was written here! If you are still reading, I will hook you up! If you order a drip coffee it is $2.50. They always have a single origin roast. I love their Guatemalan and Honduran coffees. If you ask for the coffee in a mug because you plan to sit, it's $1.00! You can't even do that at McDonalds, and this is much better coffee! While I'm not a coffee drinker, I met some friends here for breakfast/coffee. It was my assumption (didn't do my homework prior to meeting at the restaurant) that there would be soda/tea options. I was wrong. The did have a minimal food menu but I had to finish my own drink that I had in the car. I did order the Banana bread! IT IS A MUST HAVE!!! The service at Brass Tacks most definitely made up for the lack of drink options! The employees were very patient with me as I had a difficult time trying to decide what to eat. There was only minimal seating inside the coffee shop so my group and I sat outside. It was a very pleasant day to do so. I'd definitely recommend this place, even if to just sit outside and read a book & sip coffee! read more

Soft Opening of Brass Tacks Coffee shop in the Fruit Cove area of town (opened Monday 10.4.2021). Brass Tacks happens to be one of my Top 5 Coffee shops I like to frequent. This new location marks their 3rd location: their location off Southside Blvd being their popular location and their other location in Green Cove Springs being their roaster shop. This new location used to be the old Starbucks location, which have moved to another spot down the strip. Inside this shop is a nice and spacious, cool vibe of a Coffee joint. There are also plenty of nice seating outside, perfect especially during the cooler months. And as for me...this shop is the closest of all Brass Tacks so my Coffee luvin arrs will definitely be back again for mo caffeine. read more

I typically visit the Southside location, but I was in the fruit cove area and chose to try out this place. The staff was phenomenal and accommodating to my dairy and gluten allergy. They even double checked the labels for the drink syrups to make sure I would be okay! The only syrups here that contain dairy usually are the caramel and there's one more that I can't remember. The oat milk sometimes contains gluten but the one they have currently doesn't. I tried the peppermint mocha with almond milk and it was fantastic. I also asked if they could make Cuban coffee and they did. So I got two shots of espresso with extra sugar. Also delicious. Many people were working inside on their laptops. There's also outside seating to enjoy the cool breeze. 10/10 recommend and would definitely make a trip to this part of town to visit. read more

I am hoping to go back and give this place another try. I had a seasonal latte that was l not my favorite. We also ordered a breakfast sausage burrito. It came foil wrapped but was so cold to the touch. Biting into it, the sausage wasn't breakfast sausage but like a kielbasa hot sausage link cut up. The cheese wasn't melted because the tortilla was cold. I would suggest to panini press it to get the temperature up. Atmosphere was good, clean, fun artwork. I had no idea there was now a Brass Tracks in our area and I couldn't be more excited. We use to live near the one on Southside but since moving we were really missing it. So one morning we headed over that way for the Biscuit Sandwich. I went with my favorite with bacon, cheddar egg + chives. I had very seen that they had Biscuits + Gravy so we had to try that too. As soon as I got into that sandwich it was just as good as I remembered. The salty-ness of the bacon, cheese, and egg pairs perfectly with their amazing biscuits that have the perfect sweetness. I will say it best biscuit in Jax and probably the best biscuit sandwich that you can actually eat with your hands (see what i did there). When getting into the Biscuits + Gravy I was a little unimpressed just looking at it but once I got into it was was great as well. I can't wait to be back and will make sure to try something new along with the must have Biscuit Sandwich. read more

This is near my work place so i stop by a couple of times already. Their interior is very nice, staffs are also nice but on busy days it might take a bit of time for your food. They offer a punch cards for points too For food, i recommend the biscuit and bacon. It's crispy and slightly sweet and crumbly so it's rlly good. I personally dont like the breakfast taco. The tortilla is big, dry and thick that i feel like 1/2 or more of what i bite into is just the tortilla itself. For drinks, i dont particularly like anything. Tbh they all taste pretty similar and look similar too, i wish there's whip cream or topping options just to make them stand out a bit but so far i dont have a favorite drink. They re decent, but nothing wow. And i dont recommend the Vietnamese coffee as a Vietnamese person lol their coffee is too acidic for Viet coffee that it taste sour with condense milk Overall this place is pretty decent, but i feel like it could be better. Service is consistently terrible. Has been for quite sometime. Basic customer service skills like a greeting, or general friendliness is non-existent. And the cherry on top of this shit sandwich sundae is after they are done doing the most basic of tasks-they still ask for a tip should you be paying with card. Now I will caveat-they are ALL young kids. Which maybe I can attribute this to some generational issue, but on the whole-zero level of training in basic customer service skills. read more

One of my new favorite coffee shops. My go-to latte is a seasonal one, the oatmeal cookie with oat milk. It's such a treat. I like that I can come an work, and there's indoor and outdoor seating. The people are friendly 90% of the time. The vibe is hipster or "cool". It reminds me of a place I'd see in California. They offer a wide range of coffee drinks, from the usual to the delightfully unusual - something for everyone in your group. I loved the Nutty Irishman (I took it iced). I was pretty excited when this place opened where the Starbucks used to be on San Jose Blvd in Mandarin area. I arrived on a Friday around 10:30 am and there really wasn't an open table inside or out. This made me very hopeful as I just came from doing some lab tests and hadn't had my morning coffee yet. I figured it had to be good! I noticed a young lady and a young man working the counter. She was very kind, helpful and accommodating. Him, not so much. He took my order, no hello, good morning, smile, nothing. I felt like a bother. I ordered a simple coffee, just an Americano which is pretty basic. While waiting, I observed the people having a great time! The menu looked interesting and really good! Several food items as well as some signature coffee drinks. The place gives off a really cool vibe as well. 10 minutes later I had my coffee. $3.75 is probably about average for a large coffee. Unfortunately I ended up drinking just a few sips before tossing it in the trash. The coffee was very diluted and weak and I knew if I waited a little longer I could enjoy my Keurig coffee more once I got home. I was so disappointed. Why was my coffee so awful yet the place was buzzing and full of people? I noticed that most people were drinking the signature drinks and not just a typical coffee. Maybe that's the secret. When trying this place, and I recommend you do, don't go basic here. Try something off the featured menu and perhaps you'll have a better experience! Maybe the bigger guy that helped me will be having a better day when you try it out lol. read more
