Our Airbnb was right around the corner from here, so we decided to stop by for breakfast. Service was excellent. There seemed to be a good amount of regulars dining in, but newbies like us were warmly welcomed. We let our server know it was our first time. She walked us through the menu and even brought us some delicious, complimentary griddled carrot cake to try. The coffee was self-serve. They were several yummy blends to try. Our classic breakfast dishes were very good. If you're in the area, I highly recommend you stop by and support this restaurant.

What a fun unexpected treat! Stopped here on our way to the zoo. From the moment we walked in the attentive and very polite waiter was helpful. He welcomed us and gave us a quick run down. He even brought us a grilled Blueberry and Walnut muffin to celebrate our first time there. The help your self coffee bar...genuis! The Wild Blueberry was amazing. The Cafe was cute and intimate and cozy.

The breakfast was excellent, good temperature of the egg and corned beef, grits very good too. Our server she was very pleasant and attentive. We were sitting down outside area very nice accommodations, peaceful atmosphere.

Came here for brunch with a friend and I can't complain, everything tasted great! I made my own omelet and it was truly stuffed to the brim. They don't skimp on portions that's for sure! Just remember to come with a charged phone so that you can order and pay from it (this was new for me). It really streamlines everything and the servers are pretty on top of it all.

This place was packed when we got here for breakfast, parking was a the same. We were immediately greeted and were able to take a seat outdoors. Thankfully, it wasn't a terribly hot time of day and we ended up being moved indoors before our food arrived. The place is has amusing wall decor. The coffee station is self serve and endless. There were several unsweetened flavored coffees along with unflavored coffee. Freshly brewed and piping hot, it's a good cup from nearby Screaming Cat Ice Cream & Coffee. Hubby ordered the ultimate sandwich and was shocked to be unable to finish it. A half sandwich is more than enough for a single serving. The taste was right on with a nice crispy bacon and gooey cheese. I had the southern duo, which was tasty, but needed a little extra kick. The biscuit was a nice treat with the gravy. The chicken was good, but I wanted something more with it. Some more crunch or even additional flavor profiles. Was more than enough to share or have another serving later. Servers were highly friendly. To be noted, there is an automatic 10% tip added to the bill. The server made me aware they aren't able to accept any tips. At the end of the check, I was prompted to leave an additional tip on top of the automatic tip. I am concerned this is not going to the employee directly. Overall, would definitely come back here.

I took my sister here as a first time. She absolutely loved the service and food. Cool Moose is such a vibe and it's such a relaxing environment. I had coffee, eggs, cheese grits and potatoes. They brought our table a complimentary cranberry muffin and it had both of us speaking a secret language. Everything was fresh and we saw the customers evolve from silent eating to conversations with neighbors. This is a small business that always delivers and caters to all who enter. Please visit if you want a a quaint breakfast that packs all the emotions and seasonings of a mother's kitchen. Everything is made with love.

This was our first visit to this establishment and we will be back. I had the Irish hash for breakfast. Everything was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed the unique mix of flavors. This is not your average hash. They were plenty busy, but the tables were rotating just fine. Staff was very friendly and answer questions about my gluten allergy, too. They have outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. Nice ambience.

Decided to check out Cool Moose Cafe for breakfast. It's a pretty casual-style establishment with a waiter/waitress to assist you but you have the ability to order/pay through your phone which I thought was neat. We got there early so it wasn't much of a wait but after 11:00 it began to get pretty busy. I ordered the French toast and a side of home fries with added chorizo and American cheese. I will say the food was pretty standard - not bad but definitely something I could replicate at home. On a positive note though, the service was good and the host at the door was super kind!!

Been meaning to come here for a while and it didn't disappoint! Received a grilled muffin as first time visitors- so good. Pancakes were fluffy & largeeeee serving size. Breakfast sandwich was good but nothing special. Atmosphere is cozy and relaxed. Good service..you can order online or at the counter (prices are online but not on paper menu). Great experience overall!!

Cool moose cafe is a small cute breakfast/brunch place in the Riverside/Avondale area. We went on a Sunday morning and did have a little bit of a wait time, ~30 minutes but we went down the street to a little book shop while we waited. The food was good, it was flavorful, typical of most brunch places. They had buy one get one mimosas which was nice and those tasted great! They also gave us a complimentary toasted muffin since it was our first time there. The coffee is a self serve bar and you have to either order from a QR code or go up to the counter so not much interactions with the waiters. I would definitely consider going back to try something else on the menu!

Brisket omelette with cheese grits.

Food was great! House made corned beef with cabbage & shaved Brussel sprouts were excellent. Also, the brisket omelette was delicious as well. It is a mix of self service and wait help, we are fine with that, as it meant we could keep coffee filled ourselves. Small, quaint place, perfect for breakfast.

Rise and shine breakfast. Very good.

This is an interesting place. The menu that is handed to you does not have prices on it. The scan of the menu does have prices. And you can order and pay for it thru your phone. Or you can walk up to counter and order but you get hit with a 10% fee. Either way it is very eclectic style of restaurant. Had the rise and shine breakfast and did the self serve coffee bar with a pretty good selection of regular or flavored coffee. I ordered my breakfast with English muffin. And it was grilled. Very good. Breakfast was very good and people that work there are very helpful. Just a bit different style of restaurant. Still worth going and possibly going back now that I know the routine.

Harvest hash with brisket on the side

We dined in for brunch. Service was fast and friendly although they have revised their process since my last visit to online ordering or ordering at the counter. We ordered bogo mimosas (available weekends only), harvest hash (seasonal item with brisket on the side), meat lovers quesadilla and pancakes to split. The pancakes were huge and both entrees were large and delicious. The restaurant hasn't lost its hole in the wall, local diner vibe we loved on our first visit. We look forward to more visits in the future.

The whipped goat cheese paired with fresh basil is a home run--it adds an unexpected brightness that perfectly balances the rich bread pudding. The Neptune Beach location is my personal favorite. I love the walkable proximity to the beach, and the patio is the place to be when the weather is nice. Plus, they are dog-friendly, which is a huge win--I love being able to bring my pup along for a post-beach brunch!

We came in through the back since we wanted to sit outside. It was a little hot, but the outdoor area was still enjoyable with a big shade tree in the middle. Definitely a good vibe on the patio. We ordered our food and, for how slow it was inside, the wait felt longer than it should have been. The restaurant wasn't very busy at all, with more people sitting outside than inside. Unfortunately, most of the food came out lukewarm. My roast beef sandwich and potatoes were barely warm, like they'd been sitting for a while, and the bottom bread was completely soaked. Our daughter's grilled cheese came out with the cheese not even melted, so we sent that back along with my sandwich. The salmon and quinoa also arrived lukewarm. The fried fish was cooked too long in the fryer and wasn't great. The bright spot was the short rib tacos my wife ordered. She said those were really good and probably the best thing we had. I do want to give credit where it's due. Our server was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional. He genuinely saved the experience for us and handled everything with a great attitude. Bathrooms were also clean, which I always appreciate. Overall, the experience was average. Not a top pick for me, but I'd be open to giving it another try in the future to see if things improve. Just wanted to leave an honest review of our visit.

This was my first time really giving matcha a fair shot, and I was surprised by how much I liked it. The flavor was earthy and nutty, really smooth and comforting. I personally didn't taste much cherry or vanilla, but the matcha itself was good enough that I didn't mind at all. Service was pretty standard--quick, friendly, and easy, which is exactly what you want when you're grabbing a drink and settling in. What I loved most was the atmosphere. It's such a good mix of people--some working, some chatting, some just enjoying their coffee. There are plenty of outlets, lots of space, and it's definitely one of those spots where you can bring your laptop and actually get things done without feeling awkward or rushed. They also have food if you plan on staying awhile, which is always a plus. Overall, Southern Grounds feels like one of those dependable coffee shops you keep in your rotation--good drinks, comfortable vibes, and a great place to park yourself for a few hours. Our visit to Biscottis in Jacksonville's Avondale neighborhood managed to do both. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and seated immediately, and the atmosphere had a welcoming energy that made the restaurant feel like a true neighborhood gathering place. Susan ordered the Quiche Lorraine, and after the first bite we both knew it was something special. The crust was delicate and buttery while the filling was rich and perfectly balanced. It was so impressive that we awarded it our Culinary Duo Best of the Best dish recognition, which is something we reserve for truly standout dishes. Peter went in a different direction and ordered the Sweet Potato Pancakes with house made white cheddar hash browns. The pancakes were flavorful and comforting, and the hash browns were crispy with bold cheddar flavor that made them impossible to stop eating. Another thing we appreciated was learning that Biscottis carries the Slow Food First Coast Snail of Approval, recognizing restaurants that support sustainable agriculture and local food traditions. The service throughout the visit was cheerful and attentive, and the staff seemed genuinely happy to be there. If you enjoy restaurants that combine great brunch dishes, incredible desserts, and a lively neighborhood atmosphere, Biscottis is definitely worth visiting.

Pretentious and overrated…read more I wanted to like this place - it has such a hype. But the food is terrible. The burger is greasy/wet, it is drenched in a bland cheese sauce, the meat is underseasoned, and the patty has no sear. Definitely not worth anything near the $21 cost. The salmon BLT is served on bread that is cut so thick you're mostly just eating old/stale bread, and the sandwich is also greasy. Their french fries come drenched in a disgusting garlic oil and cheap grated parmesan. It's bad cooking dressed up to look fancy without any understanding of the basics. The restaurant fits as well. Its ugly artwork is accompanied by furniture that looks like it was ripped out of a Le Pain Quotidien. The cakes look amazing, and the bar is nicely designed and well stocked, but neither saves the drab surrealist-cafeteria vibe of this pretentious establishment.

My only complaint (and this may be specific to me) is that they did not have a cola flavored diet drink to offer. Yes, I admit, I need my Diet Coke with my meal. We loved the gambas al ajillo -- the shrimp had great flavor and just the right amount of heat -- and the grilled sourdough was perfect for soaking up every bit of the delicious sauce. I was facing the back of the restaurant, so as right-hander, sitting up against the wall felt awkward and made the space feel even tighter. I'm a huge fan of seafood stews and almost always order them when I see one on the menu, so I was looking forward to the Sicilian Stew. While the overall flavor was good, it leaned a bit too salty for my taste. More disappointing was the fish itself -- it seemed cooked down and stirred into the broth to the point where it acted more like a thickener than a distinct part of the dish. I would have preferred visible pieces of fish with more texture and presence. Overall, the staff was warm and attentive, the service was excellent, and the food arrived promptly. Despite a few drawbacks, I'd still be open to giving Taverna another try in the future.

The duck fat corn bread was disappointing. It was an odd combination of flavors that did not mix very well. The corn bread was mushy and the crisp Napa cabbage with the random ranch/spicy sauce combo did not pair well and left my mouth feeling confused. I had high expectations for their house made pasta as they had a pasta maker out for viewing. The pasta was overcooked and every bite was an interesting mix of flavors...some bites salty...some bites unseasoned.
