honestly, I love it. The food, the ambience... It seems silly to give the place top marks for atmosphere, but you have to remember I'm not here for fine dining. I am here because I had a craving for spicy chicken and fried cheese curds at one am. And it may not be the absolute best fried chicken I've ever had, or the best burger, but I know exactly what I'm getting. And they deliver. Cookout is Consistent, and it's inexpensive. There's always a line wrapped around the building, but they're quick so it's not really an issue. And really, when you want one, there's nothing else that will settle the craving for a cheddar style hamburger and hush puppies. The shakes are a whole different level. They belong, honestly, in a more expensive restaurant - if you haven't had one yet, just pick a flavor and go for it. Every time I come my Order is always incorrect. You say cheese quesadillas and they give you cheeseburger or chicken when you literally say CHEESE! Burger was decent but something seemed off putting about it and the corn dog was room temperature. I think this place had potential but I question the level of cleanliness. They also have the ability to have transparent windows like In-n-out burgers but choose to black out these windows which has you questioning what is really going on in the background. Cook Out takes fast food, calories, and served a plate of clogged arteries to the next level. I'm traveling from the West Coast and have never heard of Cook Out till my coworkers mentioned it. TBH, seems like a place you hit up after a night of drinking lol. For $4.99 you can get a burger and 2 sides which include corn dogs, hush puppies, fries, and onion rings to name a few. I ordered two mint Oreo shakes. When I got the first one, I noticed it looked like a regular Oreo shake, but didn't give anymore thought to it. I got the second one and noticed it was very green. I pulled up from the window so the next customer can pay for their order. I tasked the first one and it was a plain Oreo shake. I turn around and try to go inside to let them know if the mistake, but the inside is closed. I had to wait in the long ass line and when I finally get to the window, I tell her of the mistake. I ask if both shakes can be remade due to sitting in the line and of course, the first shake not being mint Oreo. She gets a WHOLE attitude and tells me that it's mint Oreo! First time visit and I'll return to give it a fair try. I did the drive thru and said to the person I've never been here. I would like 1 burger, 1 hot dog. And one order of fries. I asked the person to make give me their favorite style of burger and dog. I got the dog, but no burger. I wasn't charged for the burger. The dog was tasty and the fries were good. Fresh outta Philly I HAD to stop by Cookout to enjoy some good ol polite fast food. The service vibe is completely different from the Philly area. They said "please take your time," and "thank you," I almost thought I died and went to heaven (okay I'm being dramatic). It's been years since I've been to Cookout but they are still 100% legit to me. The menu can be a bit intimidating if you're new to the spot but take your time and any choice is your best choice. I have tried cookout twice now and both times were great. No issues, hot food, and decent prices. The drive-thru lines can be pretty lengthy but considering the times we are in during this pandemic, patience is definitely needed these days. So I don't trip about long waits anymore when I know the food is going to be good. The burgers were super delicious, the cheese fries were excellent, the nuggets were hot & tasty, and the milkshakes are to die for! I truly enjoyed & and this will be my go to spot when I want something quick and reliable. Worst run location ever. Food is good but like other reviewers has said, this particular restaurant needs to take some pride and get their act together. Dining room closed, drive through only. Be prepared to wait 20 minutes in line if there are more than 4 cars ahead of you. And don't use the right lane drive through....stick to the left! About 4 cars make it through the left side and get served for every one car that gets served at the right. What a joke....find another Richmond area location if you are jonesing for a Cookout. i had ordered 6 trays for my family. when i had gotten home i checked the drinks and they all were correct . then i went to the trays. out of the 6 they only got 3 correct. 3 of the trays were missing their quesadillas but they had doubled up on the fries i guess they couldn't wait for the food to cook so they just slapped fries in the trays. besides the orders being wrong, the food was decent. I wish I could give less than 1 star. I had to repeatedly say my order more than 4 times and the last time the man taking my order had an attitude. I remember this burger place popped out of no where one day. I have driven past this place for months but never decided to eat here. One of my friends told me about this place and how the burgers here are good. I finally decided to get eat here. I got 1 regular burger, 1 BBQ sandwich, and fries. I'm giving them 4 stars, I know its just a hamburger joint but we don't have cook outs where I live and for a quick place to get something to eat this place is perfect. I've been here 3 times in the last 3 weeks and everytime the food has been good, hot and fresh, now its not fine dinning here but i ordered a double hamburger, fries and a cherry cheesecake shake for $8.00, the burger tasted like it just came off my grill and the fries are hot and perfectly salted, the shake is delicious and its so thick I needed a spoon. Went there today around 5pm and got a variety of tasty food for dinner. This is the nicest I have been to. Now, I have gotten a bite to eat at the Colonial Heights location and I do remember the customer that was behind me with a small child got themselves something to eat and sat down on the bench right beside this Colonial Heights location on the Boulevard a while back. They were being talked about rationally and the little one heard the employees talking about him and his mother and he started to cry and couldn't eat his food. It was sad to witness this at that location. For that insident, I refuse to go to that location in Colonial Heights and I wouldn't recommend any parent with children to go to the Boulevard in Colonial Heights. It is a cold, cruel and discriminating place especially to and for a child. Foxy, I understand how you feel about your first experience. I am sorry. Maybe we can meet up one day since we both live in the same area and I can take you and your child to the Cook Out I go to.
