This is not the place to attempt to be anonymous. Tonight our bartender was friendly and made good cocktails. I had the Minden Mill bourbon, old-fashioned, and my wife had a well gin and tonic. The memorabilia in the space let you know they are definitely from Northern Nevada definitely Giants fans. The A's were playing on TV and it felt like my living room would be if I could get away with it. So today we had good drinks, great company as we knew people, affordable cocktails, and we enjoy a great environment. We sat outside and enjoyed the Norman Rockwellesque Esmeralda Avenue. The corner bar will become a regular part of our lives.

I'm not sure what my text limit is here, so bear with me on this one. I'll even lay things out in an easily digestable compliment sandwich - you know the ones... First, I want to say that I finished the entire burger. It certainly was edible! This may be the bulk of the sandwich. The meat, if you will. This place blows, all the way down to the salad, but we'll start at the actual beginning, where I suppose the problems began. I can understand being understaffed, especially during a pandemic, but it might benefit to have a bell or something at the counter to let the staff know you have someone who's ready to sit. Ordering was an adventure on its own; the waiter we had seemed to want little to nothing to do with us, and I'm not just pulling that out of my bum here. My wee gran - bless her soul - has a very soft voice and struggles to reach audible volumes sometimes. Rather than making an effort to lean in a little closer to hear her, our waiter simply shouted "What?" Repeatedly. There was a wonderful bit of racism on the menu involving a certain Mexicano, which I took a picture of, leaving the waiter visibly disgruntled. I ordered the OG Burger with a side salad. Something basic. My patty was pretty thin, honestly, and that yellow sin laying across it is American cheese. I think I've seen (and tasted) better in a highschool cafeteria. However, as I said, I finished the entire thing. Not much to say about it otherwise. It was a burger flavored, burger textured... burger. It just was very burger. The salad was... a salad. Nothing to note here, nothing spectacular. There was enough dressing on it to wash my car, but the tomatoes were ripe and the lettuce was crunchy. Both good for making salad. Nobody, at any point, came to our table once our food had been delivered. The place was mostly empty aside from another couple sitting across the dining area and a small party. I'm not sure if we just came at the wrong time or maybe we all reeked that customer stench, but the wait staff was practically nonexistant. I don't need all my needs catered to and we all know the frustration of wait staff that comes by every 5 seconds to ask if you need something. But man, not at all? I don't have the plague, I promise. I know a lot of folks argue that you're paying for atmosphere, but I'm going to be completely honest, I've never seen such a depressing eatery in my life. I don't know what the theme attempted here was, but it fell pretty flat. There's one big TV screen, a bar surrounding, some miscellaneous brown things and a big clock. I can't imagine going to an eatery and paying extra for the décor choices. This is a burger joint in Nowheresville Nevada, not Disneyland, why is my aneorexic patty $15? The place has awards for having the best happy hour, great Italian food, and excellent pizza (is pizza not Italian food?) but none for burgers. Is this place primarily a bar? Is it mostly for alcohol? Why would you serve mostly burgers and have zero awards for the largest point of your menu? Where was the Italian food? I can't even turn this into a sandwich. There was no other pleasant experience I had here. I'm not typically someone who complains exclusively, but looking at the bright side of all of this is like staring at the sun. All the staff were cheerful & friendly too. :) Our server recommended the chowder. She shared that it's her husband's FAVORITE and that he's from ALASKA! Well, he ought to know, RIGHT? So we ordered it. . . GLAD we did, because it was SO-GOOD! Lots of chunky clams & the smokey bacon bits added great flavor. We also had the half size Mother Earth Salad, Cacio E Pepe pasta, & the Strawberry Salad (flavorful dressing). Don't let this slip under your foodie radar!
