We came here with a party of 4 for dinner on a Saturday. The restaurant is large and is a bit on the loader side but we really enjoyed the fun energy and music. We started with toastones, mussels, and papa a la huancaina. All of which were great! The toastones were nice and crispy. They came with great dipping sauces, personal favorite was the green. The mussels were very light and refreshing. The papas were nice and creamy from the sauce. I liked using some of the green sauce on this dish for a little kick. My family and I have been loyal customers of this restaurant for many years. However, our loyalty ended today due to a horrible experience. ​The food was unacceptable. The ceviche was so excessively salty it was inedible, and the chicken was undercooked (raw) and completely flavorless. ​To make matters worse, the service was equally poor. When we complained about the quality of the food, the staff refused to replace the dishes or remove the items from our bill, stating dismissively, 'They tried it and it was fine.' ​We were charged for food we literally could not eat. ​Because of the atrocious food quality and the unacceptable response from the staff, this restaurant has permanently lost a client of many years. Ordered for pickup. Strangest place. Very sketchy. Door was locked upon arrival. Had to knock. Just the wife at the counter, husband in the kitchen. Just east of Peachtree/GA-141 at Chamblee Dunwoody. Looks a little sketchy from the outside, but it is fine. Nothing fancy but just fine. Contigo Peru specializes in seafood dishes, so the owners are probably from Lima. You'll find some staples like Lomo Saltado and Pollo a la Brasa but not others like choclo con queso and aji de gallina, one of my personal favorites prepared perfectly by both my wife and my mother in law. We got there at 2 p.m., and the business was CLOSED on 02/13/2024. Based on the hours on their site, the restaurant should've been opened. Let me start by saying that I'm Peruvian and love it when I can find a great hole in the wall that serves my beloved Peru's cuisine. If you also love Peruvian food, save your money and go elsewhere! This is where good quality ingredients and service goes to die. Our server was this angry girl, that wanted nothing but to be proven right. I was there with my gfs, one of which was vegetarian. I asked our server, what vegetarian options do you have? My friend is looking at the salad. She responds, "what's on the menu." I let that roll, figured she's not up for small chat. When our food arrived, all of our orders were wrong. I ordered the tiradito (ceviche) and it was missing the sides stated on the menu. My vegetarian friend ordered a sad salad with like 4 ingredients and it was missing 2 of the 4. My other friend ordered the avocado salad with chicken and there were 4 super tiny pieces of chicken that she had to dig around for. I asked our waitress about my sides, and she said my fish didn't come with any. So I asked for the menu, and showed her where it said it did. She said, oh, "that's for the ceviche - you didn't get that, you got the tiradito." Hmmm...hate to burst your bubble miss, tiradito is ceviche, it's just the style of how you cut the fish. It's the first thing I order when I go to Peru every two years. Feeling defeated by her attitude and constant rudeness, we went to pay and I asked to speak to her manager. She rolled her eyes at me, pretended to check in the back, and then came to the front and said, "yeah, he stepped out." So I asked for his name and their phone number to give him a call later. She replied, "no, I cannot give you personal information, you're asking for personal information." I told her she was extremely rude and I left. About an hour later, I tried calling to ask for her manager, and she picked up the phone, refused to let me speak to him and said, "I have no idea when he'll be back, you can try later." Spare yourself the emotional high of finding a Peruvian restaurant in Atlanta. This is definitely not worth the trip or money. We came here at 845pm and it looked super sketchy getting here, but the food was awesome! I only knew a little bit of Spanish, but I knew enough to be able to communicate with the awesome server :P. It helped my friend knew Spanish though haha. I tried a traditional drink made of corn called chicha morada and it was sweet and tasted awesome. My friend got a carbonated version of it and I thought it was cool how my drink was purple. We tried the mixtos ceviches ($16) and the bistec lo pobre. Amazingggg! The ceviche was really fresh with octopus, mussels, shrimp, and calamari. It had fresh lemon, onions, and lettuce. It was excellent! I was craving ceviche too. The bistec was also awesome! The meat was a little rough, but full of flavor with every bite. I liked the egg and the rice. I could have done without the little salad on the side though since I just had some ceviche. They were playing Peruvian music that was familiar from one of my good friend's parties and they had Univision on several TVs which would be great for a soccer game. Loved this place! Great Peruvian lunch specials for just $7 - really, a 4 star meal. It's just that we had some uninvited guests that made our meal less appetizing .. ants. Like a parade of them along the wall, and found one crawling in our bread basket. Yeah, so we didn't quite clean up our plates. But my friend said the bathrooms were clean so don't completely think it's a dirty restaurant. Then again, my friend did see a score of "80" on the health certificate. Still, if you can look beyond that & be adventurous, the food really is good. I ordered the "Saltado de Mariscos" which is stir-fried seafood (shrimp, squid, mussels) with tomatoes & onions, the fries hiding below the pool of seafood but tasty from being drenched in all the juices, plus white rice. Very filling meal. My friend got the "Arroz con Mariscus" which also had assorted seafood but in a blend of Peruvian spices, and served with a reddish-looking & slightly spicy rice. Her dish was tasty as well. The restaurant was pretty packed when we left - and a good cross-section of customers. Contigo Peru restaurants are down to just two locations now, the other being further north on P'tree Industrial. Our server was friendly but didn't speak English well ... which can be a problem if you have an allergy to shellfish like my friend did. Hopefully my friend is still ok :) They are open 11am-11pm, 7 days a week. Lunch specials are available 11-3pm. Rounded up 3.5 stars. This place was a surprise hole in the wall (well, HITW for me). It's not particularly pleasant from the outside and the interior is not the most appealing. It's not dirty but it is dated. You first walk in to a small bar with a few TVs. I think they get a lot of night business b/c they also had some music performance stuff advertised. The inside of the restaurant can hold about 40-50ish. The owner was a kind and helpful Peruvian lady. I think she was working by herself (waiting and cooking) b/c we didn't hear a single voice the time we were there. This also meant the service was a little slow but we weren't in a hurry that day. We got the Ceviche con pescado ($14), arroz con mariscos ($16), bistec a la parilla ($13), jalea mixta especial ($30). Everything was really good and the portions were decent but I will say the prices are a little too high. I think they can be lower. Nothing we ordered tasted bad or disappointing. All entrees had an old salty taste to it. I have tried multiple Peruvian restaurants around the Atlanta area with out dissapointment, but this is a first at Contigo Peru. You have to walk around just to get a single soul's attention for water or small plates , whatever you need. Just to summarize: over priced for gross food with bad service. read more

Peruvian food in Atlanta?! There aren't many places so I YELPED it and Contigo Peru popped up. My friend and I had plans today and were in the mood to try Peruvian food since neither of us has had it before. As we pulled into the parking lot, there was only one car parked there. We were a bit alarmed since it was around 12 p.m. for lunch time. As expected, we entered and the place was pretty empty besides one occupied table. The two workers in the front greeted us in Spanish and were very welcoming. We were seated, menus given, and water brought out. The ambient was pretty chill, but could've been more "festive" if there had been more customers. FOOD: My friend and I concluded seafood is the specialty here. I mean, we saw it advertised under the restaurant sign walking in. The menu is pretty extensive with items such as: ceviche, tacos, quesadillas, rice entrees, battered/fried seafood, etc. We stayed away from the "fried" stuff although our waiter suggested ONLY fried items/entrees for us to try. We ended up getting rice entrees that focused on Peruvian style marination/spices. My friend ordered #78 - Arroz con Mariscos (Peruvian style stir-fried seafood with rice) and I ordered #79 - Picante de Mariscos (Mild saucy stir-fried seafood with rice). Both entrees consisted a lot of vegetables, shrimp, squid, octopus, and a few mussels. It did take a good while before our entrees came out and it wasn't even busy so... yeah. We did doubted the freshness of the seafood due to how empty it was, but they tasted fine. My friend joked around and said they must have did a quick run to the ocean to catch some seafood (haha). The food was OKAY. Not something I would crave personally, but it was very tasteful. It was also different from anything I have tried before. Portion was plentiful as we both did not finished everything. They displayed it well and looked appetizing. I really wanted to try the ceviche, but will save that for next time. Well, this was a weird night... we found Contigo but were confused that it had such a glowing bright OPEN sign yet there were no cars in the ample parking lot. It was 8-ish so not really late or anything. So we hesitantly entered the restaurant to be faced with a vacuum cleaner, about where you would expect to see a greeter of some kind. We had a chance to look around at what is a pretty large space with lots of seating and a nice big bar... that was completely empty. We probably would have left but we had a Google Offer to use and just then a young lady came out and greeted us. She turned out to be really helpful and even let me practice my Spanish with her when I ordered. Having been to Peru recently and spent time with a family in Arequipa I wasn't too intimidated by the long menu. Although, due to the lack of other people in the establishment, I decided not to order cerviche (not sure but the lack of other people made me wonder if they had a bunch of fresh fish just waiting about in the restaurant kitchen, and if so, how fresh would it be?). But... we did order the anticuchos for appetizer (beef heart kebabs with sauteed onion and potato) which was lovely. I know my husband wasn't entirely convinced but saw my excitement when I saw it on the menu so went along with it. It was slightly chewy, which i never experienced in Peru, but it was cooked wonderfully and we ate the whole plate up. Then my husband, who had wanted the bistek a lo pobre (because of the huevo frito - fried egg) found out he could have the fried chicken steak with a fried egg as a side, and ordered it excitedly. He ate that whole thing down, now unbothered by the lack of other customers. I had the Saltado de Camarones (stir friend shrimp with tomatoes, onions and other veggies over fries - but not fries, more link crinkle cut English-style chips, with rice). It was lovely - we both tried each others' dishes and almost licked our plates clean. My husband tried the Inca Cola and is now sad its not on the soda drink shelves at Kroger. I knew he'd love it. I had a pretty bad experience here, girlfriend mentioned contigo's reviews here as we were headed to the other peruvian restaurant which name i wont mention here. We were closer to contigo so we drove there. When we arrived there were only a handful of people, the ecuador vs honduras game was on, so it was pretty quiet, with the exception of the soccer commentators. anyway, we sit, order a bandeja, and a michelada, the place was as clean as you'd expect a bar/restaurant to be. food comes, and it is a bandeja which has hot dog sausages, and other meats. I wasn't expecting to have hot dogs topping a $27 plate, but oh well. I noticed there were no sides with the food, mention to waitress. She said that the plate came with no sides. So i ordered a side of rice, and a side of beans. We eat the food, the beef was ok, the chicken had a ton of pepper on it, and the pork chop was half fat, half pork.. I then remember having seen something about cassava included in the plate. When i ask the waitress again, she goes to the cook, comes back and said the cook must have been distracted by the game (mind you, this is the reason i ordered rice & beans in the first place... because i though, or she said that the plate didn't come with anything as a side). once i get the bill, they charge me $4 for a cup of rice, $4 for a cup of beans... total for everything $54. which seemed kind of high, paid, left a 10 percent tip (since the service was lousy).. When we drive off, i do the math and realize they overcharged me by $10. I call the restaurant, and mention to the waitress that i was overcharged $10, she says that a 15% gratuity is included in the bill. I would have liked to have known this when the bill was handed to me. I will never ever eat here again. I think this place really caters more as a bar for drunk people, and they take advantage of that. read more

This place has low quality and nasty food at a high prices. Service is also poor. Our server was more interested in having loud phone conversations than taking care of her tables. We were on mood for Peruvian food and found this restaurant on yelp am gave it a try. Showed up at 7pm an place was empty and sketch but decided to experience it. To start out with the menu had had Pisco Sour in the menu we ordered 2 to only to find out they dont have them. Ordered Papa a la huacaina, sauce was runny and mediocre at best. Lomo saltado was made with stir fried meat not very fresh nor authentic and the ceviche of pescado was so spicy it was uneatable and no canchitas were served with it. Although the menu had other dessert menus they only had Alfajor available, the most disgusting Alfajor I have ever encountered. I would suggest saving your money and go To abother restaurant. Good Peruvian food. We had fish stew and Picante de Marisco ( but I asked them to make it only with fish not to mix any other seafood). We also had Inca Cola with the food. The fish stew was good. The waitress was fine. We daughter ordered a ceviche that ranked 4 out of 10 in our opinion. I ordered a sea food Aguadito and it was very good. Their Chicha was good as well. We finished with alfajor cookies that ranked low in our opinion. They carried very basic Peruvian food and did not have some of the expected staples such as Aji de Gallina and Caucau. If you are looking for Peruvian, I would recommend this restaurant only if you do not have any other Peruvian Options. The rice had absolutely no flavor, it was like eating white rice in a Chinese Restaurant, the Ceviche had chewy pieces of fish, I will admit the flavor in the ceviche was good and the Lomo Saltado was not as tasty as I would have liked and the pieces of meat were all chewy, not a very good cut of meat. I've been in Atlanta for about 7 months, and usually end up at Contigo Peru three to four times a month on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. This establishment caught our attention because my fiance is originally from Peru. With the exception of the menu, nothing in the restaurant really distinguishes it from a Mexican or other Latin American restaurant. The service is usually prompt, and always welcoming. Ninety five percent of the time we order the Papas a la Huancaína and Ceviche Pescado with 2 Inca colas. The food is always delicious, but my review is missing a star because of consistancy. The first few months I frequented the restaurant, the food seemed to be prepared or presented a little differently each time, but we always enjoy it. I really wanted my friend to try Ecuadorian food but the place was closed; so bummed about that, but we were hungry so we decided to get Peruvian food instead. At first the area around the location looked very sketch but you should never judge a book by it's cover haha the actual restaurant looked very nice on the inside, with a bar and a couple of big TVs showing soccer of course (rolls eyes) and they were playing música chichera. The waitress was very attentive and patient with us, for drinks I got an Inca Kola and Ravi got chicha morada, the chicha was very tasty and delicious. For entrees we decided to share Ceviche Mixto and Bistec a lo Pobre, the ceviche was amazing, from the shrimp to the octopus and everything else in between it was just delicious. The Bistec was really good too, but this particular dish is so typical in all of Latin America; maybe with different names depending on which country but same exact concept everywhere, so I wasn't that impressed by it and I think I had a different idea of what it was. Honestly I can make that on a normal weekday at home at anytime. Ok. So, Im not a Peruvian expert but, a friend that I was with when I ate here this Sunday afternoon is well versed in it. We dined on bread and aji, beef hearts, and some rice and beef meal with onions, and peppers, that my friend ordered for us, and washed it down with Inca Cola. I was told if we were in Peru it would be average to good but, being in Atlanta it was pretty damn great. I can only saw I fully enjoyed everything I ate and everything I started to eat I kept eating until it was gone. The prices were much higher than we expected when we mentioned that they suggested just ordering one meal and split it because they are large portions. So, we did just that. One meal and one appetizer and it was plenty of food. One of the other reviewers spoke of a lunch special for 7 bucks....do that if you can and Ill assume thats not something that is an option on Sundays because we were there at lunch time. Second we order some ceviche the price was really high I think 16 dollars for small dish and we'll my dad order some fish fried but he didn't like the grease from oil was inside of the fish.. gross. Don't even know and the white rice was like from yesterday. And the worst of all was my dish shrimp with rice I found a large piece of hair inside of the rice. Absolutely disgusting.
