It has been over a year since i last visited. I live the new expanded outdoor seating and entirely new renovated interior. Tye var is now centrally located and larger. The only downside is the height of bar (edge) and chair height is not very comfortable gir people shorter in stature. Little changes to the menu but everything was just as great as i remembered. I ordered the friend rice with chicken and 1/2 rotisserie chicken with salad and potatoes. Forgot to take a picture of Thr chicken dinner. Looking forward to future visits. read more

I kept seeing LB every time we drive around the area. A friend suggested we check it out for lunch and I quickly obliged. On our particular visit, LB was set up for take-out only. They do have seating set up outside. But it looks like there are renovations under way for the inside dining area. Despite the setback, we still enjoyed our meal. I went with the Pato Anticucho. The wife and I also shared a Ceviche Mixto. The duck was a nicely cooked medium with great flavor. The ceviche was a nice complement to the meal. An extra notable dish was the chicken Chaufa. I grabbed a bite from a friend's plate. Said bite was so enjoyed that I had to order it when I visited another friend that I visited outside of the A. The portion sizes are big, especially if you get the family size meal. The atmosphere was very cozy and felt like a casual place that can be upscale if you wanted to. They had a corner stage for live music and a big bar with TVs to watch games. The service was quick and attentive which was very appreciated cause it was a busy night. The chicken was really good! WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER | after years of driving past Las Brasas time and time again, we finally got a small group together to try some chicken from Las Brasas! There was plenty of indoor seating when we arrived but I had brought the pup so we hoped to sit outside. Unfortunately, they had just opened their patio up at the time so seating was limited. We had to wait a bit but we were able to order some cocktails while we waited - aka a Pisco Sour, Love from Peru and Chicha Chilcano. My personal favorite was the Pisco Sour but the other two were also quite lovely to drink and to photograph. We were off to a good start with the Pantacones and the Calamari, Shrimp & Aji Pepper Frito. The Lomo Saltado (with linguine noodles) was what I was looking forward to the most but unfortunately was a little salty. But otherwise, flavor was great. The half Pollo Frito was fried TO PERFECTION - super crispy skin and juicy dark meat. However, the seasoning was a little light. The chaufa (house) was also pretty tasty but a little on the salty side. Overall, drinks were on point and our apps were perfect. The seasoning on our entrees could have been a little more refined but overall I really enjoyed the flavors. Been a few years since I visited and they have redesigned the interior. Now don't come at me for my opinion as I never try to knock a place down. I give my thought on how I felt with the place & the service. The redesign is personally not to my liking feels a bit cold and the tables/chairs are just simple. Unfortunately I was seated on the tables for 2 that are right next to 3 other tables and you can hear everything being said. 2 tables to my left was a very obnoxiously loud guest. That when a father and minor child sat next to us they got up and relocated as the lady was having "adult content" conversation rather loudly he didn't want to remain there. Idk why I apologized for the lady becuz it was rather annoying. Any who. The reason for the review is the service & food. I go for my staple plate of lomo saltado, Inca & cancha & that didn't disappoint!! My husband got the salmon & he had expected more flavor overall on the dish so he wasn't a happy camper. Order came out correctly but felt the server was a bit lacking on making you feel welcome. I felt as though it was just another table he had to get thru rather quickly. 1 lady in black idk if she was a Mgr or owner she kept tending attention to the obnoxious lady so idk what was up with that. We came here on a Sunday evening and were seated quickly. There are plenty of tables and one sided booth seatings. There is also a bar and a cute patio or outdoor seating. For a group of 5, we ordered a Whole Pollo A La Brasa, House Fries, Calamari & Shrimp Frito, Elotes , and Grilled Asparagus. My favorite of the night was the Pollo A La Brasa. It was my first time having Peruvian chicken, and I was excited to try as I've had recommendations recently. And my expectations were met. It was well seasoned and the chicken was tender & juicy. I will definitely be going to get Peruvian chicken more often. Also a special highlight to the Grilled Asparagus. It honestly is the top 3 asparagus dishes I've ever had. It was soft with the right amount of crunch, and I'm not sure how they seasoned them, but they were so addicting. They could be a little more generous with the asparagus portion. Service was attentive and friendly as we called them over quite often. The food also came out at a good amount of time. They also gave us some roasted Peruvian corn to snack on. These were SO good, it's like a different version of popcorn. My only point of improvement is the ambiance of the restaurant. The decor is fine, but I think the bright white lighting can be a bit too harsh. Switching to warmer lights would bring the restaurant's feel to the next level. Hear ye hear ye residents of Atlanta: I have found the best fried chicken in Atlanta and it is Peruvian. Before you even enter the restaurant you can smell the amazingness that's destined to land on your taste buds. We came here on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch and our experience was excellent and filling. The wait staff was so nice and patient with us. They were also very accommodating. We started with the lamb empanadas which caught my eye in the Yelp photos. They were stuffed with lamb, fried to perfection, and greasy and delicious. Definitely a must try! We ordered the whole pollo frito (fried Peruvian chicken) and the arroz chaufa with rotisserie chicken (Peruvian fried rice). The whole pollo frito is a lot so we were able to take food home but the fried chicken was AMAZING! The brined and then fried skin was so tasty and it popped with the lime juice that I squeezed on it. It's like it enhanced the flavor and made the chicken even better. You will only find juicy and well-seasoned food here! The arroz chaufa was huge, but was so good and could definitely be ordered vegetarian and you won't miss the meat. I feel like the chicken actually slowed me down in this dish because the fried chicken was already so excellent, we didn't need more in the fried rice. There is like a spicy lime Peruvian yum yum sauce that came with the rice and it was to die for. Definitely enhances the taste of the fried rice as well. We will definitely be back. read more

While searching for the best fried chicken in town, I would've never thought that I'd find it at a Peruvian restaurant! Las Brasas is an institution in Decatur, serving massive portions at affordable prices. My partner and I ordered arroz chaufa, elote, and a half portion of fried chicken to share. The elote was creamy, salty, and very sour, probably from the Tajin and lime put on it-- but solid! The arroz chaufa was humongous, with enough portions to feed us for five nights-- tasty, too, and the sauce that went with it had a surprisingly-potent kick! Star of the show, however, was the Peruvian fried chicken ("pollo frito"). We got the half portion (which was the smallest amount), yet it was still massive with two thighs and a wing. I'll be honest and say that, while one of the thighs was perfect (tender, juicy, crispy), the other thigh was dry. Sadly, a bit inconsistent, but I still enjoyed most of the chicken and I especially loved the crackling outer skin. I think the chefs also sprinkled Tajin on top, which added an extra pop of flavor to an already-flavorful chicken. Be aware that service can be really slow and a little standoffish-- we spent over an hour at the restaurant, but to be honest, this is a place to take your time and enjoy the meal presented to you. The *lomo saltado* is a mockery of Peruvian gastronomy; the *aguadito de pollo* is absolutely repulsive and shows signs of fermentation; and the water they serve tastes like stagnant, stale water. After their remodel, service was slow but I'm happy to report that we went tonight with a group of 7 people and the food and drinks came out super fast. I have heard wonderful things about this place and finally got to try out for my late birthday celebration with the family. We came here on a Monday night dinner and the place had a lot of people for it being Monday. There was also a group of 10 of us so seating us was a bit complicated. While they sat us at the corner, we needed another table to completely sit us, so we had to wait for the couple sitting next to us to finish eating so that our group could be seated together. The nice couple did offer to give up their table and move elsewhere in the restaurant but we denied their offer so they could finish their meal. Service was a bit slow (it was so slow that one of the chefs ended up brining out food to our table), but the food made up for it. Our group ordered the fried calamari (small pieces of calamari fried to perfection), lamb empanada (super tasty ground lamb with flaky crust), yucca fries (need I say more - this slaps especially the sauce), and elote to start. We also ordered the rotisserie chicken with a side of quinoa and pesto pasta. The rotisserie chicken was served whole with TONS of French fries and a delicious salad. The quinoa was so good and light and honestly paired well with the salad for added fiber. The pesto pasta was okay and didn't really care for it. Had a lovely lunch here on a Wednesday. The food was delicious and the server was welcoming and helpful. It was a rainy day, but I bet the patio is amazing when it's warm. I've dined at Las Brasas since moving to Atlanta in 2015, and the Peruvian food served here has always been consistently good! I just can't believe that I hadn't written a Yelp review until now. Parking for Las Brasas can always be found. It has its own parking lot, and more parking can be found at the business next door (the one with the golden arches in its company logo), although I'm not sure of using that parking lot is ok with that business. Customers walk through the entrance doors and can immediately see the kitchen area. This is where they wait until being seated by the host, who can seat them in the main dining area, at the nearby bar, or the outside patio. At times, the main dining area can be crowded, not only when it's full of customers, but also when the tables and chairs are placed too close to each other, and customers walking by may bump into the backs of the chairs of seated customers. The bar area is a great place to meet new friends and seems to be the noisiest section of this restaurant. Customers can grab a drink and enjoy the program on the TV monitor, usually tuned to a sports channel. At times, the main dining area can get noisy when it's full of customers, and I highly suggest sitting inside in the evenings, when the indoor lighting can make that space look more intimate. The patio area has long high top tables and tall stools to sit on. On hot and sunny days, customers should be aware that shade from the materials hanging over the outdoor dining patio is only partial. The real star of Las Brasas are the menu items, with the rotisserie chicken at the top of its food specialties. Our most recent visit was during lunch (Las Brasas has lunch and dinner menus), and I ordered the half rotisserie chicken and a side salad. R ordered the half rotisserie chicken and a side of steamed rice. Our friend not only ordered a full order of the house fries as an appetizer for the three of us to share, but she also ordered the quinoa power bowl with chicken. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, quick and efficient. The entire time we were at the restaurant, we never had the need to ask our server for anything, since she was always alert, providing our utensils before we needed them, keeping our water glasses constantly full (we were eating outside in partial shade and the weather was very warm and sunny), bringing more napkins, coming by periodically to find out how everything was going, and asked if we needed take out boxes for leftovers. We were served the house fries first - hot, crispy and a big portion - with a dipping sauce. Within five minutes, our entrees were served. My rotisserie chicken was hot and the meat was moist and flavorful. There was a dipping sauce that, although wasn't needed for the chicken, actually enhanced the flavor of the chicken. My side salad was full of fresh vegetables, and well made, served to me after it was tossed with the cucumber dressing. The three of us had a great dining experience. **I do have to add that one of my favorite menu items has been the Lomo Saltado, a stir fried, savory beef dish that has fresh slightly cooked veggies in it, served with rice and French fries. Cash is not welcome here and is printed on the menu at the bottom. Every dollar I have says, "Good for all bills both public and private." These people add 15% gratuity onto not just the food but also the tax on the food AUTOMATICALLY. This is in spite of the menu stating that gratuity (unspecified percentage) is added to parties of SIX or more. I had to argue with the waiter and then the manager to get it taken off of my bill. Our lunch was $42, and they added $7+ for tip. The manager countered that the policy changed before the new menu could be printed. I reminded her that the menu is the basis of my order and is all that I am willing to pay. My mind was made up to start a charge back as soon as I got home if she hadn't followed the menu and removed the gratuity billing. Also, the food wasn't that good. My wife and I shared the half chicken, which was overcooked and dry. The portions were so small that we were still hungry when we left and went for a walk at the mall and got some more food. The mixture had Spanish octopus, calamari, flounder pieces, and small shrimp pieces. I saw that the corn was in chunks so they must have taken a corn on the cob and sliced it. The rice was flavorful with the egg and spices, but it was a bit soggy than I imagined fried rice to be. I had the half rotisserie chicken. I saw another couple beside us order it so I opted for this healthier version instead of the fried one. And I only ordered the chicken as it was a decent size. The plate came with a green (huacatay) sauce, one dark piece, and one white meat. It was Peruvian brined, hardwood chicken that was really simple and yet delicious! Service was friendly. The food overall was pretty tasty that came with good portions, but it was a tad salty. There was also a variety of other foods: ceviche made to order, stir fry, and skewered meats to name a few categories. Since Las Brasas is on the edge of downtown Decatur, there's a private lot. Located in the former Burnt Fork BBQ in Decatur, we had no wait for a table for a laid back, casual meal. Elotes, lamb empanadas and spicy mixto ceviche made a great meal. The corn wasn't drowned in toppings like many other places, allowing a complete taste of the dish. I LOVED the empanadas. The exterior was flakey but the inside was still moist, not dried out like so many over fried examples. Well done. And we also really enjoyed the ceviche. Good spice, acid forward, but the fish was still the star of the dish as it should be. Cocktails were well made and delicious. Service by Xavian was prompt and friendly. We didn't have an opportunity to try the chicken, which has pride of place in the center of the menu, but that gives a great excuse to return. For a spur of the moment Saturday night,we were very happy. Great value as well: the above meal and three cocktails came in under $100. Ok so first things first, I gotta get it out of the way. I am not a local but I was visiting so this was my first impression. This place blew me away. Service: Amazing. Ambiance: Groovy and I vibe with it hard. Food: I cannot even begin to sing its praises. I am not even a fan of fried chicken like that but the Pollo Frito was a whole experience. Its flavor has so many layers. From the salt level being spot on, the spices adding a nice complexity, and getting the umami just right made it one of the best meals I've had. And the crunch! Oh the crispy crunch! Phenomenal. Las Brasas is a must when in the area and I look forward to the next time I can have it. I've had the: Lamb empanadas Elotes Yucca Fried Rotisserie and Fried Chicken Fried Rice The perfect meal is the fried chicken, yucca fries, and elotes. The lamb empanadas consisted of a ground lamb/beef combination lowkey heavy on grease. The second time, not so great. The first time it was shredded, although the man told me it wasn't. Elotes is the street corn consisting of everything good. Pure perfection. The Yucca fries are golden on the outside soft on the inside, always hot. The sauce is like spicy cream, goodness that I could dip anything in. Fried chicken. Muah. The BEST. Fried rice is insignificant, skip over it. Parking on the side of the restaurant, no charge.
