As an FYI, I've only eaten Sunday brunch here which has a unique menu compared to other days so take that into account. However, I've always ordered their Breakfast Chimichanga with brisket. You can also get it with chicken, pig belly, and some other options. The food always comes out quickly and it is consistently good. The brisket is tender and well marinated, the scrambled eggs always light and fluffy. When it comes to chips and salsa it is always subjective, but even though their salsa is quite mild I think it still has a great, unique flavor. The staff is always friendly and the restaurant has a pretty chill vibe with a huge amount of outdoor seating. I always walk away satisfied after coming here on a Sunday afternoon. read more

Been here a few times and unfortunately always leave a little disappointed. That being said there are two items I did enjoy. Spicy marg - they only use agave and water so it's not too sweet, not too tart, and actually really refreshing. Their pork belly tacos also slap. The rest of the tacos are just missing something, and their salsa is kind of pink in color and also lacks spice and flavor. If you're someone with a sensitive pallet this might be perfect for you! We had an early brunch with the dogs, so we couldn't sit inside the main patio area as dogs have to stay at the outer tables. But our server never forgot about us. The only thing to make it better would be having separate checks! Or allowing a split bill. We love visiting different spots in east atlanta for dinner and some games. We meet at 6 and eat and play and are gone by 8/830. There are 6-8 of us and we all throw in credit cards. Holy taco is great with food and service. But the check policy is one card. They won't even split the bill evenly. It's ok because we all have Venmo but it's still a pain in the a$$ and midway pub and argosy do accommodate more than one card. Any way ... it's what it is. One of my new favs in Atlanta for real-deal Mexican with a modern twist, I'm kicking myself for not discovering Holy Taco sooner. Featuring one of the best patios in town, this spot is the best for a relaxed and sunny weekend brunch. We stopped in on a weekend morning and delighted in our outdoor meal in this quaint corner of EAV. The margaritas were delicious, paired with a nice serving of chips and queso, accented with their absolutely delicious Ecuadorian salsa, which was a highlight of the meal. Her tacos de huevo were delicious, and my vegan fajitas - fresh vegetables dripping in seasoned butter - served with an ample serving of outstanding arroz con frijoles lasted me two meals, making for a great value. Great stuff with a good sense of humor... I was supposed to be attending a group event at the brewery next door but their doors are right next to each other and I walked in the wrong place asking where the meeting was... They both looked at me with a confused look but they were also not going to tell me I was wrong,. So the bartender proceeded to show me where our meeting could be and how he would prepare it which is terrific cuz it was a whole room off to the side that we could have met at had that been the location. But they had a terrific happy hour going on with Margaritas as well as vodka drinks and discounted tacos. The drinks were delicious. My associate ordered their salmon on broccoli instead of their risotto and it came out quite amazingly good given it's a little taco place. There are quite a few people in there eating at the time even though it was early. I look forward to returning to this place. read more

This is in a great plaza in the heart of Atlanta! There's much to see in the area. Came here on a whim with a Freind after showing her the area. We were greeted and we chose to sit at the bar. Our drink order was taken swiftly and food order next. The food itself was good. I wouldn't say it's the best food I've had but it wasn't terrible. The churro's were smaller then expected but good when fresh. When they cooked down after 5 minutes they were not the best. Their drinks were great, i ordered a horchata with added alcohol. My food was delicious! This is my second time going to this restaurant. This time we went for Cinco de Mayo but the only thing about it is they didn't have any specials. Which is why I think we were able to get a seat there. There still were a good amount of people there. But all the other places were packed because of the deals and special so even though the food was amazing we still lost out on saving. We sat out on the patio area because they have a nice patio area. But it was kind of cool outside so I would have preferred to sit inside but the weight was like 30 minutes or something. And the later it got I think more people were coming. Our waiter was great he was cool laid back and funny. He made sure that we were well taken care of. A friend asked me to meet at Holy Taco as they thought I would enjoy the ambiance and food. We sat on the patio that evening. It was a cool fall evening. Ambiance was ok. Heaters (outdoor) would have been great for those dining on patio. I would rate a zero but not an option. 1) the tortillas ... I've had better. 2) the waitress need better people skills or maybe hers was selective with us. As I watched how she interacted with others. 3) ordered medium well salmon. I was brought rare salmon. She didn't attempt to fix it and kept saying no manager was on duty when I asked for more assistance. Obviously I ate the broccoli, but the salmon was inedible. I will not patronize this place again. While in Atlanta, I was staying near the East Village. My date was in the mood for tacos and she made a lovely choice. The atmosphere feels like a hole in the wall with the bar in the middle. There are tables and chairs outside to enjoy your tacos outside during a hot Atlanta day. What was more important to me was having a TV to watch my beloved Crimson Tide and that was taken care of with the 3 or 4 TVs they have. I ordered the Tres Amigos for an appetizer that ran for $12. The salsa was ok but thin. The queso was really creamy and had a buttery taste. The guacamole was what you would expect. I thought for $12, that was too expensive. I believe $7-8 would have been more appropriate. I ordered 3 tacos - skirt steak with cotija cheese, brisket with pickles carrots, and pork belly with roasted corn and garlic aioli. The pork belly was the best of the bunch and the steak was quite good too. The steak seemed like it needed some sort of sauce on it. The brisket was cooked fine but it needed something else like a BBQ sauce to go with it than pickled carrots. The tortilla for it was also cooked too long. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! I would go to Holy Taco again. The pork belly taco was really good and so was the steak one. It is a little pricey though and the brisket taco was a letdown. read more

Holy Taco is certainly an institution in EAV at this point, as they have been slinging tacos in this area for well over 10 years. While it has been in place for a hot minute, my most recent visit was my first. As one would imagine, they are most known for their tacos, but they do have a decently large menu that boasts other yummy items such as chicken sandwiches, wings, broccoli, desserts and of course the staples you are used to such as nachos, quesadillas, taquitos, fajitas, enchiladas, etc... We were a table of 5 adults and 2 kids, so naturally we kicked it off with a few appetizers. We landed on the Tres Amigos, which consists of their house salsa, chile con queso and guacamole. In addition, we ordered a plain queso. The salsa was your run of the mill, chilled red salsa and was enjoyed by most. The queso was a disappointment to a few of us as it was thin and just missing something. The chile con queso was equally disappointing for similar reasons. Even with the addition of the chorizo, it was still lacking in overall taste, and was equally as thin. However, the guacamole was the star of the table at this time. It was bright, chunky and seasoned perfectly! Most of the table ended up with tacos as their dinner, as one would expect. I personally got the Combo No. 1, which was (2) tacos and a side for $14. I am a fish taco fiend, so of course that was my first choice and I rounded it out with the pork belly. Sided both with the street style corn off the cob. The fish taco was decent. The fish was crispy, but not seasoned. The slaw carried that taco if I am honest and the sauce was thin and watery, which is weird for a mayo. The pork belly taco was stellar, as the pork belly was cooked to perfection. It was crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The relish and aioli were the perfect addition to the pork! And finally the corn, I got it off the cob and I thought that would have taken away from the topping they smother it in, but it did not. I got all the goodness of street style mexican corn on the cob without the cob and I was pumped about it! In addition the tacos, my partner got the chicken nachos...and they turned out to the a massive miss. I am not sure if this was standard plating, but it was the laziest preparation of nachos we had ever gotten. Nachos here feature the standard queso, salsa/pico, lettuce, guacamole, sour cream and jalapenos plus your protein of choice. Sounds delish, right? While we got all those things, it was prepared with a layer of queso on the bottom, topped with a mound of chips and then all the "toppings" placed in small amounts on the rim of the bowl including leaf lettuce, not shredded and it was all topped with haphazardly pieces of chicken that were cut into a variety of sizes and shapes big enough to place on a sandwich. It was a bizarre and disappointing plate of nachos. Outside of the food, we washed it all down with a pitcher of house margaritas and they were super tasty! No complaints in the liquid part of our dinner! Service was solid with helpful and friendly servers. And the patio was great, we loved the large patio that featured covered and uncovered seating, and even a few tables that lined the sidewalk. Ordering is all you, as they have the Clover app/site that you use to place your order and pay. You simply choose what you want and place the table number in the field and then wait, but not long as they were pretty quick with all our orders from the drinks, to the apps and our dinners. Important note to remember though, make sure to put your table number in...if you do not, they assume its a pick up order so they prepare and bag it up and wait on you to come get it. Overall, Holy Taco is a cool spot that certainly fits the vibe of EAV. While we weren't blown away by things, we did enjoy ourselves and the atmosphere offered here. I could see us hitting the patio for another round of margaritas and guacamole! read more

I typically really enjoy my dining experience here. But tonight, I sicken by something I witnessed. One of the staff members, who had stated he was living, with his back-pack returned to behind the bar. While standing, facing directly in front of where I sat, he rub both sides of his crouch with both hands. He then turned and picked 3 bottles of alcohol, with his hands very near the tip of spout on 2 of the bottles. He poured himself several shots from the bottles. Our waiter was notified and he did say something to the guy but remained behind the bar, disappearing to the kitchen eventually. The waiter apologized, but that was it. Taco Tuesday! Wanted to try somewhere new and my bf and I decided on this place. When we drove past it looked closed but then we saw the neon sign that said open. They have a large patio, both covered and uncovered, with hand sanitizer before you go in. There were a couple people at the bar and one table. We spoke to the bartender to let her know we were there and she told us to sit anywhere and she would be right over. We chose a table in the "loft" area. She came over with waters in to go cups and paper menus. We looked over the menus and ordered the pitcher of holy margarita with reposado tequila. We also both ordered the vegan, grilled shrimp, and fried mahi mahi all on flour, lol. Except he ordered his combo with the street roasted corn and I ordered mine with rice and beans. The pitcher came in a plastic container and two plastic cups with ice. Our tacos came wrapped in foil and my rice and beans came in a plastic to go container. We had plastic utensils as well. My bf loved the mahi mahi and while it was well seasoned I thought mine was fried a little too hard. The shrimp was ok, could've been grilled a little longer. I enjoyed the vegan taco. The rice and beans were good and it looked like he really enjoyed his corn. The margarita wasn't strong and to us it tasted like juice. I expected a lil buzz but nothing. Overall it was cool. They follow covid restrictions. And while I understand the use of the single use dishes, it felt like it took away from the experience. It also looked like their take out business is pretty booming. Found Holy Taco while wandering around the neighborhood! My husband and I sat on the outside patio and were glad there were so many Covid-19 precautions: hand sanitizer, distanced tables, multiple options to order (through the Clover app and phone), disposable cutlery, plates, and cups. I especially appreciate the sign that said "No Mask, No Service." Thank you for keeping us safe! We ordered through the phone because my Clover app was acting up. We had a small guacamole & chips (8 & 12 oz sizes) to share, he had the 12 Hour Roasted Pork Shoulder Chimichanga, and I had the Vegan Chorizo Taco & Grilled Chicken Taco, both with corn tortillas. Our guac and chips came out super fast and it was phenomenal; creamy and zesty! Our food arrived soon after and was equally was amazing. The chorizo had a nice spice and the grilled chicken taco was cooked just right. I didn't eat any of the chimichanga, but he told me I heard "oh my gosh" and "mmm" multiple times :) We had 3 different servers during our short stay and everyone had masks and gloves. I first went there when @Brother Moto was just around the corner, but loved it so much it is a mainstay now. I have sent dozens of people there and each one has been pleased. I had been wanting to try out this place for awhile. What better time than a Sunday evening? Met up with a bunch of friends from my foodie group and we gave it a try. We sat out for the most part until it started to pour. The outdoor patio area is cutesy and big enough for large group seating. They had a special seasonal watermelon margarita made from real watermelon and it tasted as such. I actually just did the reg house margarita. I like the margarita, the sangria looked better than it tasted. Then the tacos, i liked the variety of choices. I got the lamb taco, the grouper and the brisket. All were flavorful and I would order all again! Others in my party had the shrimp and vegan option, they enjoyed as well. Of course I also had to get the Mexican corn....yum. Our server was quite friendly , our checks were messed up a little but he fixed them. Only critique would be to let us know the specials especially if you see us ordering something that is on special. There was a slip of paper included in our checks that listed the specials. Knowing them BEFORE we eat would have been great. Sunday special was $20 Sangria pitchers and we ordered 3-4 individually at $8.95 a pop. It would have saved us some $ to know about the pitcher. I came here with a group of 8 for dinner on Saturday night. The restaurant has a lot of seating options for big and small groups. I didn't think our server was nice at all. My friend is pregnant as asked for a virgin version of their margarita and he was not kind a all and basically just told her "We don't do that." He didn't take the entire tables drink order at one time so many of us had to wait before we all had a drink. Then finally we ordered and the food did come out pretty fast. I highly recommend the pork belly taco. The server made it clear there would only be one check - just be prepared to pick up your tables tab or venmo each other here. It's easy to just think about tacos at Holy Taco, but the chef and owner of this place is Robert Phalen of One Eared Stag. Therefore, it shouldn't be a surprise that some of the other plates you can order here include things such as marinated manchego cheese, duck liver terrine, pig tails, and Sea Island red pea cocido (Spanish stew). Opened in 2008 in East Atlanta Village, Holy Taco has that modern, farm-friendly feel, but still has a casual and relaxing atmosphere for taco-grabbing. Most, if not all, of the ingredients are locally sourced. My favorite items to order are the guacamole and the beef tongue and chicken hearts tacos. The guac is fresh, chunky, and well-rounded. I love it. Holy Taco's chips are big and thick. Several people are not fans of them and I can see why. It's almost like they're double-layered tortillas. Greasy and heavy - if you pound them away, it can catch up to you. The guac is worth it, though. The roasted beef tongue taco comes with tomato cucumber salsa and cilantro. It's a juicy and savory taco, and every bite is delicious. The cilantro on top isn't the standard cilantro you're used to. Instead, Holy Taco uses cilantro sprouts (a lighter, more fluffy version). The pieces of tongue are quite hearty. The chicken hearts taco is unique. The chicken hearts are fried and there are a handful in each taco, along with pickled shallots and diced arbol chilis (Mexican chili peppers). The hearts don't have too much flavor and are a little bit chewy. If anything, their flavor and consistency most resembles liver. To make up for it, the tacos are loaded with sour and spice from the shallots and chilis, respectively. If you add hot sauce, this taco can really bring the heat. The young goat taco is also pretty good (and popular). I'd steer away from the slow-cooked grass-fed beef brisket taco. The meat is too chewy for my tastes and overall, it seems like a plain and boring taco. All of the tacos come on a single layer of either corn or flour tortilla (your choice). They're beautifully presented, but can be messy to eat. Be prepared for a lot of juices to come spilling out onto your plate when you take your first bite. In addition to the foods already listed, you can also get tortas and bocatas (Mexican sandwiches), quesadillas, and desserts such as churros (Mexican doughnuts). Holy Taco has an enormous outdoor patio facing Glenwood. The restaurant has an open and contemporary design. There's a bar inside along with some cool artwork on the walls. The staff are all quite friendly and service is usually efficient. Parking is plentiful in their free lot in the back. If you happen to be at Holy Taco between 5-7pm, tapas are 2-for-1. Also, if you're interested in trying One Eared Stag, see if your Holy Taco receipt is good for 20% off your total bill at One Eared Stag (a great deal). read more
