It took about 15 minutes to make or so so everything is made to order in fresh which I liked. They had a lot of other options too, so I definitely would try it again if I'm in the area.. it's right by a door which leads you outside to outdoor seating. I was not impressed with the Margaritas, i expected a bigger glass. Coming from Texas that wasn't it. But it was okay and super strong. The Margaritas was the reason why I gave it 4 stars.

Three arrived half an hour before happy hour ended and I was stuck in traffic on Ponce and arrived about 3 minutes after 6. My friends had tried to order me a drink and were told that they could only order one drink at a time and not for anyone not present. Fine. Annoying, but fine. Then, there were rules about mixing and matching tacos and various other things that weren't stated on the menu. We weren't even asking for anything special, but the default was no. We didn't even get water glasses without asking. I felt like they were doing us a favor by being there. I could understand having a lot of rules if it was a busy night like a match day or something else, but the restaurant was mostly empty. If the food was outstanding, it would be a different story, but there are plenty of restaurants around town with better standard Mexican food and a better attitude. I'll keep going to Nuevo Laredo and skip this one.

Cinco de Mayo is always a gamble when it comes to dining out, but we decided to spend the holiday…read moreat Mezcalito's Cocina & Tequila Bar and overall had a really good time. There was a $5 entry fee to get into the restaurant for the Cinco de Mayo event, which gave access to the patio bar and DJ while waiting for a table. Just to note, the fee did not include food or drinks, it was strictly entry for the event atmosphere. Thankfully, the DJ kept the energy up and made the wait enjoyable. It took about an hour for our outdoor table to be ready, which honestly was not bad considering the holiday crowd. Once seated, I ordered the chicken flautas, although they were listed under a different name on the menu. They were not my favorite version I have ever had, but they were still enjoyable. Our server also recommended the birria tacos, which were good as well. Again, not the best I have ever had, but definitely flavorful and satisfying. More than anything, I appreciated how well the staff handled such a heavy crowd. Cinco de Mayo brings out everyone, and Mezcalito's Cocina & Tequila Bar did a solid job accommodating guests while still keeping the experience fun and upbeat.

The manager(?), Ryan or Brian, I honestly can't remember which, noticed me getting a little antsy and came over to check in. He let me know they'd be with me shortly and started suggesting a few things from the menu while I waited. That little bit of attention made a difference because I was definitely starving and unsure if I would wait. I ended up staying seated at the bar and ordering the Quesabirria. Best decision. Cheesy, flavorful, packed with birria, and served with consommé for dipping. Messy in the best way and absolutely worth ordering again. At that point I understood why the place was so packed. Service at the bar was quick and friendly, the food came out hot, and the restaurant has a lively energy that works for the concept. What really stood out to me, though, was the manager paying attention. He could have easily let me walk out, but instead he noticed, stepped in, and turned the experience around.

Unfortunately this food experience did not change my mind and very much confirmed my negative opinion LOL. This spot has a fast-casual vibe with very friendly service. Can't knock them for that. The lot can be difficult to navigate into and out of depending on the time of day due to the busy intersection, but we still must thank God for free/lot parking in Buckhead. I tried the chicken quesabirria. I felt nauseous pretty much immediately after finishing what I could. Hunger can indeed make you do crazy things, folks. I believe there was consommé on the side... Is consommé just oil? Somebody please educate me. It just tasted like straight up oil. Did not partake. The chips on the side were well beyond stale, and this was around dinner time. YIKES. No seasoning on them either except for the oil they fried them in, and there wasn't anything to dip them in except for the side of flavorless oil. Sooo just chips..... oh okay. Barely ate any. Now the quesadilla itself was tasty compared to everything else, but boy oh boy was it oily. I was attacked by the acidity of it all from my stomach shortly after. Heartburn city. Booooooo. Talkin' Tacos did nothing to move my approval rating in a positive direction on this cuisine. I truly do not understand the hype but God knows I really want to!!! Maybe Mexican food and I will never mesh? Who knows.
