Chicken - Tacos De La Abuela Beef- Tacos De La Abuela

What a hidden gem!! Came in for dinner and came back the next day for lunch! Quick and delicious. Outdoor seating! In the same strip is Indian, Mediterranean, a local bar, and more! They do not sell alcohol, but you are able to walk to the bar next door and carry out a drink. The vegetarian options were amazing! Fresh veggies that had meat like textures. The chicken abuela tacos and the elote corn were SO good! If I'm ever in this area of ATL again you know where to find me!

I did come here near closing time so my options were limited, but even with what I ordered which is fairly simple and standard for a taqueria, I wasn't overly impressed. I got three steak tacos and they just didn't have a ton of flavor. I thought the prices were on the higher side too. Staff was friendly though.

Randomly driving around and stumbled upon this solid spot for tacos. I got tacos de la abuela of al pastor and lengua (beef tongue). The tortillas was good and the meat was season well! I paired it with a agua de jamaica (hibiscus). I enjoyed the jamaica, it tasted fresh and not too sweet. Would def return!

Been here a few times for dinner after walking around Blackburn Park. There's indoor and outdoor seating here, and we like to sit outside when the weather is nice. I usually get the Quesa Birria tacos here, which satisfy the craving. Recently I ordered two Tacos de La Abuela, guacamole and chips, and churros. The food tasted fresh, tasty, and was filling.

This was a great place. Super friendly service. My favorite was the homemade corn tortillas!!! Made right there where you can see.

This really hit the spot after a long day of studying. Didn't take a picture of the full bowl of guac because I was hungry haha, but it was a decent size, and super fresh. The service was INCREDIBLY fast and the food was so good. Casual atmosphere but worth it for a quick bite !:)

You know you are in an authentic taco spot when beef tongue is on the menu! This is a great little taco spot in the old five points shopping area at the corner of Johnson Ferry and Ashford-Dunwoody. Very little seating but they do have an outdoor area if you bring your dog. They have tacos callejeros for $3.25 each and tacos de la abuela for $3.50. I am not a Spanish speaker but I know Abuela is grandmother so I figure anything made like Grandma used to make has to be good. I got two tacos de la abuela, one chicken and one beef. The restaurant is small but clean. The staff friendly. Overall a good experience. The tacos we good, but about what I expected. The prices are not super high, but not a great value either. I will come back and try them they also have a nice kabob style rotisserie with pork on it I want to try.

We stopped by this place as it had super good reviews and were very hyped to try it. The place has decent amount of seating and is fairly clean. They have a variety of drinks to choose from, I mean the most unique flavors of Jarritos. The tacos themselves were um not my favorite. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor. The tortillas seemed not so fresh and were very thick. Even after adding a lot of sauce, we struggled to finish them. Veggie Al Pastor I had high hopes for but unfortunately the combination of pineapple, oyster mushrooms and the sauce did not mesh well together. The service was quick and they have sauces for self serve as well. I do think that it might be better for people who eat red meat as that's what the most good reviews have stated. I will not be back :(

A friend mentioned this place. And boy oh boy was it super delicious. Apparently Tacos Al Pastor started out as a food truck. The hubs ordered pork tacos and Mexican sausage de la abuela. It was tasty and had a generous amount of meat. We saw them started making the handmade tortilla right as the order was put in so it's definitely fresh. I had the beef tongue gorditas. The gorditas was a little crunchier than I expected, but it was good nonetheless. The little cubes of beef tongue was chewy and added a nice contract in texture. The horchata drink was tasty as well. It was well flavored and not watered down. A friend of ours swapped his quesa birria for one of our tacos, and that thing is to die for. Apparently it's a new concept and growing in popularity. That thing was so flavorful, cheesy, and moist. I'm just dreaming of it now as I write this. If you're into trying new things, this is a MUST TRY. At first I thought it was like a French dip concept, but the taco was packed full of flavor and its juices. They gave you a separate cup with the sauce so you can soak that bad baby even more. The prices here weren't bad either even though it's Brookhaven. [$3.25 for a regular taco.]

Don't be surprised if you're charged higher prices than the prices that are on the menu! R and I visited Tacos Al Pastor later in the evening on the same day they had their official grand opening last month. Parking was easy to find, and there were some customers sitting at tables in the outdoor patio and some eating in the indoor dining area. The employees weren't welcoming at all. Even though there were a few at the front counter, they just stood and looked at us. A "Hello" or "Welcome" would've been nice. R asked one of the employees a few questions about the menu items, then we ordered. The employee rang up each item as we ordered. I noticed that the $3 street taco on the menu rang up as $3.50. I immediately questioned the reason why I was being charged $0.50 more for each taco, and the employee told me, "Oh, the tax is added when we ring it up." Uh, ok, but how is the tax rate at this restaurant over 16%?????? Then R ordered the elote, that was $4 on the menu. However, it rang up as $5. This time, R asked why it was $1 more, and was told it was added tax and the price was increased, they didn't have time to change the price on the menu and, besides, the price comes up automatically when she rings it up. Look at the pics that I took before we placed our orders. You'll see the prices for the street tacos and the elote in the pics that I posted with this review. Had there been some advanced warning about the surprise price increases we may have been tolerant. However, when higher prices are charged without any warning or a good excuse, this comes across to us as being deceptive, with the owners/managers seeming to hope that no one notices the increased prices on the items and just pays the higher prices without realizing it. R even told them that. He even said,"This restaurant had a grand opening earlier today! How is it that you guys didn't have time to warn your customers that the prices went up, or even write the higher prices on the menus on the TV monitors?" The employee just gave a shrug of her shoulders. I have a very big problem with this business that tried to charge us more than their stated prices, especially on the day of their grand opening! Because of this, we left after canceling the order and won't be going back.

Loved my visit to Tacos Al Pastor. We went a day or two after they opened and it didn't disappoint. The tacos were on point. Might be my favorite taco spot in the area now. They have plenty of taco choices to choose from. I had two Al pastor and a carne asada. You can get them with regular corn tortillas or in house homemade tortillas. I really appreciate that option.

So does taco spot is in a little strip mall with a bunch of other restaurants. You can probably miss it if you don't know what you're looking for. It's a small shop but they do have indoor and outdoor seating. Several seats inside and then outside to have a patio situation. They have free parking because it's public and a strip mall so you don't have to worry about paying to park, but they're not a billion parking spaces so just keep that in mind. I come in and I can immediately see some meat in the background and it looks pretty good. I was definitely greeted by somebody as soon as I walked in the door. On the inside they have a bunch of different drinks that cans and bottles just like they have a water disaster so you won't feel have to buy a lot of water. They also have a small area for sauces so you can actually get whatever sausage you want from the serving tray. That's nice so you don't have to keep going back and forth to try to ask them for sauces. They have a flat top that they are cooking on in the background so it comes off the grill hot and fresh. I got the tacos de la abuela (pork and beef) and then the quesa birria. The tacos were good. I tried the green sauce and the red sauce for them just to see what they would be like. Pork was flavored very well and it really didn't need a whole lot of extra. The beef was good but the sauce definitely helped. There were some pineapple and other flavorful bits in the taco as you can see in the picture so you already know that it had the sweet and savory going on. I enjoyed that very much. Now the Birria was good as hell. It had an order that came with three tacos plus the dipping juice as well. They put it in a little cup and then you can dip it as you see fit because of tacos fit perfectly. They were good on their own, the cheese was perfectly melted and everything. So I didn't actually need anything else but I dipped it anyway! They were a good size, and very full. So it's not like you would get only a little bit of meat with this, no, you got plenty. Overall this spot was really good and I would definitely consider making this a go-to spot for me to pick up some carryout. It was fairly affordable so why not!? Tacos are like 350 a pop, and the order of birria was about 14 for three tacos and the juice. I'm definitely going to visit it again.

I MISS YOU LITTLE REYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. Also ps one time there was a person who seemed potentially homeless who came into the restaurant and was lingering around a bit while we were there. Rather than kicking him out the manager came over, took his order and gave him a free dinner. Quietly, without causing a fuss. In the world we live in today the kindness is refreshing. Love to see it.

Very good food . Nice ambiance. A real cut above chain restaurants…read moreFriendly staff. Its a fun lively place. Food came out in a reasonable time.

The first time I tried to come to El Rey Del Taco, I couldn't find a parking spot. I've been back…read morethree times since then, and I understand the hype. They have quickly become my favorite place to get Mexican food. Let's get into it! Location and Parking They are located on Buford Highway in a small shopping plaza. The lot is medium sized, but they are sharing it with a few other businesses, and depending on the night it could definitely be hard to find a spot so keep that in mind. Venue and Atmosphere The venue is decently sized with both booths and regular tables. There are beautiful paintings hung all over, and the decorations that make you feel like you've stepped into a little part of Mexico. Atmosphere is super casual and comfortable. Food and drinks Now the menu here is massive. Take your time and prepare to be overwhelmed, because everything sounds amazing. Here's a breakdown of what we got each time. 1st visit - El Rey Del Taco Parrillada It's meant to be shared with two people, and comes with a pound of beef ribs, your choice of chicken or al pastor meat, six shrimp wrapped in bacon, with melted cheese and chorizo, plus tortillas and charro beans. It was just as delicious as it sounds. 2nd visit - Tacos The pastor con queso and the shrimp al pastor with cheese, onions, and al pastor sauce. You're welcome. 3rd visit - Fajitas Fajitas Texanas, with steak chicken and shrimp. There are 7 different combinations of sides that you can get. We got white rice, salad, and charro beans. This can also be shared, which my wife and I did. Speaking of the charro beans, they have the best beans I have ever had. For drinks I got the supreme regular mango margarita. My wife got strawberry. Both great. Service Food came out fast, but other than that the service was a little slow. Our waitress was nice, but it did seem that she forgot about us for a little while. The food was so good that I forgave it, plus at the end of the day I got everything I needed. Verdict If you're looking for amazing food and drinks, this is absolutely the place to get it. It just might end up being your favorite too! Until next time!
