Seco de Res Combinado (slow roasted beef stew with rice and beans)

Costa Verde is located in the Norcross Village Shopping Center. There are plenty of spaces for parking, however, it is always crowded so finding a spot might be challenging. The food here is authentic and delicious with generous portions. The staff is very friendly and attentive. My husband and I ordered the Ceviche Camaron (Peruvian shrimp ceviche), Seco de Cabrito (goat stew with rice and beans), and Seco de Res Combinado (slow roasted beef stew with rice and beans). Each dish was tasty and packed with flavor. The ceviche is a must order!

It is located in a strip mall. Not a very pretty location :) But the food is excellent. I tried papa a la huancaina for appetizer and the lomo saltado a lo pobre for lunch. Papa a la huancaina is sliced potato in creamy, spicy sauce- I wasn't fan of it because it was cold. Is it supposed to be cold? I think it would taste much better if served warm. Lomo saltado a lo pobre was pretty good and portion is great. It came with steak with veggies sautéed, rice, fried plantains and eggs. Will return.

This peruvian restaurant does not look like much when you walk in, but the food is pretty good. They have specials written on the board and a full menu. There is a variety of peruvian food and the waitress was very nice and helpful. The ceviche portion was perfect and yummy will certainly come back here.

I love Costa Verde! I've never been disappointed by anything I've ordered here. This is my Peruvian boyfriend's favorite Peruvian restaurant in Atlanta. The service is great - all of their servers/staff are super friendly and attentive. They have some very traditional dishes - I ordered the Chupe de camarones on my last visit and my boyfriend was surprised they had this dish on the menu. It was very good! If you love soup and seafood, give this a try! We also ordered chicha morada (which was so good and refreshing), yuca frita, and Jalea. Portions are HUGE! we were not able to finish our main dishes in one sitting. They are taking covid seriously and enforcing social distancing. They installed plastic panels between all booths. All staff members are required to wear a mask. If you're in the mood for Peruvian food, this is the best place to try!

Costa Verde is one of those spots that is always good. Was craving some good food for lunch the other day and decided to go and pay them a visit. Off Buford Hwy and Jimmy Carter, is it a really good area for food. Got in around lunch time, wasn't super busy, so was able to sit down, and order my lunch. Got the Lomo Saltado a la pobre, and was so delicious it left me wanting more. Portions are huge so come with an appetite! Will definitely be goin back again sometime soon!

We stopped in for lunch. It was an excellent choice. Great service and delicious food. This will become and regular lunch spot in our rotation.

I've come to place a few times and the consistency is always the same. The food is made fresh to order and they give you great portion. I enjoy the fried seafood platter or the yellow rice with sautéed seafood. The employees are very welcoming and helpful. This local neighborhood restaurant is great for a flavorful and fresh meal. The price will be around $15-23 a person.

Costa Verde is a Peruvian restaurant located on Buford Highway OTP (outside the perimeter) in the Norcross Village shopping center. This is the same shopping center as Argentinian restaurant Sabores del Plata. Costa Verde is legit. Don't believe me? Ask Pheeby B. (http://peab.yelp.com/), Latin American food connoisseur. I don't believe there are many Peruvian restaurants in metro Atlanta. Of the ones I've tried, Costa Verde is undoubtedly the best. I recommend anyone into Peruvian or South American cuisine to try it. It is truly authentic. Like other Hispanic restaurants up and down Buford Highway, Costa Verde is located in a strip mall. It's a casual restaurant with not much to speak of decor or ambiance-wise. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, though it closes early on weekdays. Check the restaurant's web site (http://www.costaverdeatlanta.com/) or Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/COSTA-VERDE-PERUVIAN-RESTAURANT/194962111357?id=194962111357&sk=info) for hours. The menu is fairly robust with a multitude of appetizers, sopas (soups), and beef, seafood, and chicken entrees, along with traditional beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, Peruvian and Colombian) and desserts. There's even a kids menu. Appetizers are about $5 each and most entrees are about $11-13 each. Pictures of some of the foods are on the menu, which is helpful. I've tried several items and enjoyed everything. These include: Appetizers: Canchita - Peruvian unpopped popcorn Causa Rellena - mashed potatoes with tuna (or chicken) Papa a la Huancaina - boiled potatoes in spicy sauce Choclo Peruano con Queso - Peruvian white corn on the cob with cheese Anticuchos - cow heart kabob (or chicken) Entrees: Ceviche Mixto - mixed seafood marinated in lemon juice and onions Lomo Saltado a lo Pobre - stir-fried beef, sauteed onions, tomatoes, bananas, fried eggs, rice, plantains Desserts: Crema Volteada - flan Picarones - doughnuts Alfajores - Peruvian style shortbread + dulce de leche The Canchita is a complimentary appetizer. It's essentially unpopped popcorn. The kernels are roasted and salted. It's an addictive snack, sort of like nuts. Another complimentary table appetizer are dinner rolls and bread. The Causa Rellena is a Peruvian potato that is mashed and inserted with various fillings. At Costa Verde, you can choose to have chicken or tuna filling. It's kind of like Peru's version of a tuna or chicken potato salad. The potato is light orange-yellow in color. I had the tuna version and the tuna was mixed in well, with some mayonnaise too. The app was topped off with half a hard boiled egg. The Papa a la Huancaina reminds me of American scalloped potatoes, except without the crust and with a spicier sauce. The potatoes are boiled then sliced and placed atop a thin bed of iceberg lettuce. The potato slices are then topped with a smooth, creamy, and mildly spicy sauce, along with half a hard boiled egg. As my friend Melissa M. pointed out to me, the Choclo Peruano con Queso is like corn on the cob on steroids. Just take a look at this thing (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/costa-verde-norcross?select=LWzZpDliQwRajg-tUng2WA#LWzZpDliQwRajg-tUng2WA)! The corn kernels are massive and starchy. The corn comes with cheese and a green spicy sauce on the side, which you can eat together with the corn to give it additional flavor. This is an eye-opening dish to those who've never seen it before. The Anticuchos (cow heart kabobs) are absolutely delicious. Some folks are squeamish at the thought of eating organs like heart, but if you didn't know it was heart, you'd think it to be a delicious, well-seasoned meat. It's tender, savory, and easy to eat. Chicken hearts are available too, though I suggest cow. Order it. You'll be surprised how good it tastes! Several different Ceviche dishes are available. The Ceviche Mixto comes with fish, shrimp, and squid. One thing the Ceviche comes with here that you won't find anywhere else are those gigantic Peruvian corn kernels. The Lomo Saltado is excellent. I recommend ordering the more expensive "a lo Pobre" version (+$1.50) because it comes with plantains and fried eggs. The steak is fresh, juicy, and full of flavor. It's stir-fried and cooked well with onions and other veggies. The plantains are delectable and the rice and eggs aren't bad either. Needless to say, it's a filling plate. You can't go wrong with any of the desserts. The Crema Volteada flan is rich and decadent. The Picarones doughnuts are light and crispy, served soaked in a pool of sweet syrup. The Picarones remind me of Chinese crullers - very similar flavor and texture. Alfajores is a type of cookie and the Peruvian style is very unique. It's a powdery biscotti with dulce de leche filling. So good. Order an Inca Kola or Postobon to drink. Diet Inca Kola is available too. Eileen was our server and she did a magnificent job. I look forward to returning.

This Peruvian eatery was a real treat, and a much anticipated one. I'd heard great things, and Costa Verde delivered. Costa Verde is in a strip mall OTP on Buford Highway. It is clear that these folks put their energy into serving up some delicious Peruvian fare. Our meal started with some Beef Heart. Don't be squicked by this revelation, this dish was really tasty. The texture was actually good. I know Americans are generally put off by organ meats. But really, if you're going to eat a cow's butt, maybe it's okay to eat other non-muscle parts of it, too? (The U.S. is in the minority of countries that do not readily include organ meats as part of "regular" menu options.) But I digress. The beef heart was good. You should try it. We also had a big plate of Fried Seafood. Just like the name suggests, this is a plate of fried seafood. Batter fried fish, shrimp, tasty invertebrates, yucca roots and just general goodness. Fried Seafood! You can't go wrong with that. But the star of the show was the Ceviche Costa Verde. All in its fresh, citrus-y goodness (with a very slight spice kick in the background). This was the real treat. Fresh, raw seafood cured in citrus juices, tempered with a little spice, and served atop a couple of sweet-potatoes, non-sweet potatoes, and onions. Delicious! Bring your appetites. Portion sizes are big, and price tags are good. I will look forward to my next trip here. Holler if you're coming with.

Lomo saltado with chicken! I love that any of the beef specialties can be done with chicken.

Upon entry, I was not impressed. The decor is drab and the smell did not particularly enhance my impression. I wasn't into the canchita free appetizer (boyfriend loved it). Then the food arrived. Costa Verde earns the "tastes like somebody's grandmother made this for me" distinction. I made this declaration multiple times between bites of succulent sauce-drenched French fries, fried egg, chicken, rice and vegetables. Yep, all one dish! And that's when I wasn't scavenging my boyfriend's plate!

    Amy F.

I ordered the Pollo saltado which is the lomo saltado with chicken replacement and a chicha morada. My boyfriend ordered the ceviche mixto. Everything was delicious! Mmm. Only leaving one star off because when we first walked in we weren't greeted and the person at front seemed to be busy (to their defense, it was also an almost full house in the small but quaint space) But, first impressions matter! The server and food was great though, overall a good experience!

We didn't really need it since the restaurant was pretty empty, but we were a bigger group and didn't want to risk it. The hostess didn't confirm our reservation until about 10 mins prior, which was quite concerning, but everything worked out at the end anyway. Our server was wonderful! It was our first time here and he explained their background and what his favorites were on the menu. We for sure wanted to try the paella, so went ahead and ordered that first, with the carretillero ceviche, mixed empanadas (chicken and beef) and patatas bravos to start. The ceviche was delicious and fresh. Loved the fried calamari and all the toppings it was served with. The empanadas were also delicious and was served with a very spicy sauce! The patatas braves had a nice, smoky flavor. Now for entree, I ordered the veggie chaufa. Our server may have been a little biased as he preferred the Peruvian side of the menu, more so than the Cuban side. My dish was easily good for 2-3 people. It had tons of veggies and scrambled egg, plus served with a side of fried plantains. Our group ordered a bunch of other dishes and tried some of them. The churrasco steak was a little chewy but loved the chimichurri it was served with. The parrillada de mariscos was so good too, and my personal fave was the grilled octopus! Personally, I would opt for this instead of the valenciana paella. You essentially get the same types of seafood. I love that we got to dine at this hidden gem! We truly enjoyed our experience and will be back for sure.
