So one of my best friends suggested this restaurant because I love Colombian food. So I decided to try it out since I'm a HUGE foodie and I love some good Latin food. I have to say the food was pretty good. Everything came out well. But let me tell you, the service was absolutely horrible. Our server checked on us one time in the 2 hrs we sat there. After he took our food order he just disappeared. We waited over 25-30 min for our order when other tables that were sat after us were getting there food. The server never came to check to see if we needed water, soda or drinks. We tried to get his attention but he never turned his head in the direction of our table. First time eating at this place and I enjoyed it from start to finish. Being a Colombian person my expectations were high and truly met. I ordered Sancocho and Mondongo which flavors did not disappoint. Portions were right and service was extraordinary. Fruit juices were a big compliment to my dishes. Quality of food was great as it reminded me flavors I tasted in my country. Then empanadas and buñuelos on the side were a big hit. Everything tasted like home made to me. We had a very troubling experience at La Ruana Colombian Restaurant. My friend accidentally left her black Chanel wallet with a white logo on the table. It had her ID and $160 in cash. The restaurant was nearly empty. When she realized and came right back, staff claimed they hadn't seen anything. She asked to see the cameras and was only shown part of the footage. Once she mentioned filing a police report, her documents miraculously showed up tossed outside -- but the cash was gone. On top of that, the tip is already included in the bill, yet they still ask for more. After reading other reviews, it's clear this is a recurring issue. Very disappointing. Staff cannot be trusted. I do not recommend La ruana !!( be aware ) ‼ I had a bad experience at La Ruana due to their lack of control over tips. When it was time to pay, the server Angie Vivas showed me a total of $89.29 I did not allow any amount of tip to be put the next day I received a notification that the amount was updated and it was $16 more then what I had paid and it said it was due to the "tips" I called the restaurant and spoke to "Manuel " there was no manager on duty so he was in charge that day I explained the situation that's the server added a tip to herself WITHOUT MY PERMISSION after I had paid and left the restaurant she had to fake my signature as well ‼ he tried to make an excuse saying it might have been because it was a "party table " when it was only 3 of us that were there I sent screenshots of the transaction that was made on June 24th and then how it changed on June 25th later on general manager contacts me which is "Monica " and tried to make ton of excuses of what could happen but yet saying it wasn't the server because she was saying it wasn't her She did it so confidently that it made me think she may have done it before. What's even more concerning is that there were no visible consequences for her actions. It's extremely irresponsible on the restaurant's part to allow this kind of behavior. It definitely affected my trust, and I wouldn't return or recommend this place. I went to La Ruana restaurant and the food is delicious. The family atmosphere with good music all the time they had the singer Carlos Vives who I adore. The waiter was great. Maria the waitress delivered our food right away and literally disappeared for the rest of our meal, we asked several of the other staff attending the adjacent tables for help or if they could find her, they immediately apologized and called her , but no one offered to fulfill our need (WATER). The food was delicious and the service was good, however, I rate this restaurant, 2 stars because of two reasons... 1) they charge a 3.75% fee for using a credit card. Who does that in America? I've never heard of such a thing in my entire American life, a restaurant charging a fee for using a credit card. 2) for adding an 18% tip to the bill then using the total plus the tip to provide additional tip beyond what has already been billed. It's not clear that they have added the tip because when you look at the total, it asks you to add a tip by writing it in and then totaling both, as you would see it on any other restaurant bill, but not at La Ruana. I do not like shady business practices and because if it, I will not return. There are equally as good Colombian restaurants in the Atlanta metro area and I will frequent them first. So with that said, "Buyer Beware" and make sure you read the fine print on your receipt before paying your bill. At least that's what the manager said we should've done when we called to inquire about the additional fee on our bank statement. read more
