I ordered a tap water with my dinner and was informed by the server that the restaurant no longer gives out tap water unless you purchase an alcoholic beverage. If you want water, they sell bottled water for $2.50. This is so ridiculous that I actually thought the server was playing a joke on me. She was very sweet and seemed embarrassed that she had to tell me that. So I grudgingly ordered a diet coke and when I asked for a refill, the server told me they no longer give out free refills. Our dinner bill was $90 for three of us by the way so its not like we were being cheap. The food was excellent but the whole water thing left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

The last couple of times I went to Connors I ordered the roast beef on Weck roll and the Reuben sandwich. Both sandwiches were exceptional. The roast beef sandwich had tender beef slices that was all cooked the same. Some restaurants will put rare and well done slices on the roll. The Reuben sandwich had the most tender corned beef I have ever tasted on thick rye bread. I usually order an Arnold Palmer cocktail or Connors cosmo to drink. They are both good drinks that are not overpriced. read more

I always liked Connors, I brought my grandson for the magicians, Tyler was great. The food was good, I had turkey, yesterday I had the fish fry. My daughter had the fish fry, and my wife had a single order of wings listed for $10.99 on the menu, we paid $14.99. (I did not notice until I was home) The worst thing was Karen, our server, her colleagues helped up. I was also there on St Patrick's day and the corn beef was wonderful and the other server. My wife wanted coffee and dessert; Karen was not offering. Karen clearly did not want to be there, she made us not want to be there either. read more

Honestly the peppers were pretty good, could have been a bit hotter (leave some seeds in there!) but I know they can be hot or miss (I spelled it that way on purpose). This place is ALWAYS packed and probably most known for a fish fry. We came at 5:00 on a Friday. Place was already full.... They attract an older population, so "early bird" mentality. Fish fry comes with your typical Cole slaw, Mac salad, and choice of potato. Just over $13. I went with the broiled fish.... Which surprisingly cost a little more than battered. This dish is the reason for 2 stars. This was the worst fish I've ever had. It lacked any flavor, even with lemon and tartar. Kids meals, $5, include drink and ice cream sundae dessert. Good deal. I haven't been in Connor's in over 25 years. It was good back then. Now...not so much. The place is dated and smells. We wanted to try the Buffalo Wing Dip. The waitress said we don't have that anymore. (Then take it off the menu) So we tried the pretzel/cheese dip...disgusting...what little flavor sucked. Then we tried the Nacho chips and dip...weird flavor. Nothing was made fresh and it was nuked in a microwave. Low quality overpriced slop. We couldn't even eat it all. I wasn't sure I was going to write this review. But the more I think about it, the more annoyed I am at how I was treated. So here goes: I was thinking of taking my family here for dinner. I called with a few questions mid-afternoon - not what I'd was a busy time, but who knows. Not only was the person who answered the phone rude and brusque as he answered my simple questions, he hung up on me. Not cool. Time to invest in a little customer service for your employees. Teach them to patiently answer questions of potential new customer (I only had 3) and some phone etiquette...such saying "Goodbye" before hanging up and cutting off your potential customer. Needless to say we won't be patronizing this establishment. You just lost a potential great customer because of your lack of the "niceties." Very disappointed. :( read more

My gram wanted to go out for roast beef. We both got the roast beef on weck but it wasn't very good. It wasn't horrible but it lacked flavor. Might have been better with some Au jus. The roll was a little stale and the beef was dry and chewy. Gram thought the same. They have a very friendly staff. I think I'll give Connors another try and get the Ruben next time. read more

This is a hidden gem located in west Seneca. I had their strawberries salad. It was amazing. My mom had the roast beef and it was out of this world. My friend had their fish fry and it was extremely tasty. The waitress was pleasant and very welcoming. All in all I recommend this place to try. read more

The first time in many years I had horrible service at Connors this evening. I ordered a roast beef sandwich and asked for the beef to be medium to well and the waitress told me "we don't do that here". I laughed and said "I've ordered this way before and was like give me it the way it comes. Get dinner and I finished my drink and asked for a refill and waitress brought refill and said that they don't give refills. I told her that I have gotten refills before here. Next I asked for extra napkins and I watched her take them from a table that the people just left and their dirty dishes were still there. Ummm...hello Covid!! I went to the bar and spoke to the manager who was more concerned with which waitresses gave free refills then my poor customer service experience. He wanted me to tell him who gives me a refill the next time I was here. I told him, no you talk to your waitresses. Then the rude waitress brought me my check and got in my face and told me she should've charged me for the refills. She didn't see that she has bad customer service. I try to support local businesses but when they have rude waitress working for them, it makes it difficult to support them. Reading the responses, I am not the only one complaining about a rude waitress or the fact they want to charge you $6 for pop. read more

Table-Side magic on Saturday nights! How cool is that! The magicians (4 of them on the night we were there) go around from table to table doing coin and card tricks.... and they are very, very good. The menu (yes.... remember, it is a restaurant) has all of the classic favorites: soups and salads and sandwiches and burgers and a bunch of pasta and meat and fish dishes. I heard the place is "famous" for its roast beef, so that's what each of the two of us got. Beef on Weck for my friend..... and a Hot Roast Beef Sandwich for me. Both were piled high with lots of tender beef. That on the weck was a bit on the rare side.... and mine (served on white bread and smothered with gravy) was medium-well as ordered. Beef on Weck was served with chips and a pickle. The Hot Roast Beef Sandwich was served with a choice of potato and a pickle. I had the fries.... and found them to be a bit bland. And, the gravy was a bit salty. There's no wine list, but a choice of half a dozen or so house reds and whites. Lots of beer choices too. The service was a bit harried. This restaurant is ridiculous regarding water. They will NOT give you a glass of tap water with ice; they force you to buy a bottle of "purified" water at a cost of $2.50! I almost always get water at dinner and usually drink 2 glasses, but I didn't dare ask for more water because I wasn't about to spend $5 on water when I would have been perfectly happy with tap. Somebody at this establishment should really put some thought into this ridiculous policy! For over 11 years myself, brother, a sister and 3 friends have been getting take out and dining inside here. I love the food there but, not crazy about the "costumer service". The one waitress is who we got allot, short, plump, short dark hair, glasses and about maybe early to mid 60's. She is rude and not at all attentive UNLESS you happen to be a table of MEN. Not a nice person. So, stopped sitting in her area. What has prompted me to write this is that one now has to actually purchase an alcoholic drink in order to get Tap Water!!! IOW, their greed is forcing people to buy their bottled water. Sickening and none of us will ever return there. I spoke to the owner and he actually sounded proud about it! Arrogance abounds. Lot's of other places that have food just as good and better...also give you water without even asking which is proper restaurant etiquette. This is a great restaurant for what it is - a local place you go to when you need a reliable meal and not a lot of frills. The average age in this place is usually 70 but you'll see younger patrons too. I've been here for many lunches and dinners. In the summer, they have a nice patio that offers shade and the service is usually quick. They have an excellent, huge fish fry if that's your thing. Their Reuben sandwich is a guilty pleasure and their salads are very good. Never had a mind-blowing meal but I've never had a bad one either. There are so many good casual restaurants in the area........ this is not one of them. Skip it! After Captain Sweatpants seated us by pointing to at table across the room things went downhill. The burger was undercooked with a funky taste to it served up on a blood soaked bun. My wife's fish was not good either. My daughter orders spaghetti and it was served with a toasted hot dog bun for bread. Even the diet Coke tasted like it was served through mile long soda lines that were last cleaned during the Nixon administration. This time the beef was so tender and flavorful, sometimes it can be hit or miss with their beef and how tender it is but they hit it out of the park this time. On our way back to Massachusetts from Christmas with the in-laws in Indiana, my husband and I stopped here for dinner with a few of his work colleagues that he had never met in person. It was a fun time. Then again, there aren't too many instances of gas station food that get a Zagat's Guide entry, so there's nowhere to go but up once you get off the road for the first time in 8 hours. This place is cute, in a divey / locals-only kind of way. We pulled in to what looked like the vaguest outline of a parking lot for Connor's on a VERY snowy night. We weren't 100% sure we were in the right place until we went inside and saw a charming little custom stained glass shade that said "Connor's" on it. There might actually be signage out front that we missed, but this was winter in Buffalo, so it was snowing, a lot. We stood at the bar for a bit while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. I did notice that on one of the 3 (possibly 4) TVs at the bar, an infomercial for a box set of the entire Carol Burnett Show was playing on loop. The others had sports, football and maybe basketball? It could have been fútbol, I'm not really sure; I don't speak the sports. While waiting at the bar, my darling investigated the facilities for His Kind nearby. Upon his return, he regaled me with a tale of the "Most Least Convenient Restroom" he's encountered in a long time. I quote: "This thing has a door that opens almost immediately into the toilet, no lock on that door if you need to go #2, and no way to, like, block the door with your leg to keep people from coming in, because the toilet's facing sideways with half a partition between you and whoever's coming in to look at how gross you are." So, there is that. I am lucky that I am a lady, and have the great ability to "hold it" for a while, so I cannot tell you what their women's room was like. Once seated (in a dining chair, not on the Most Least Convenient Toilet), we were able to peruse the rather extensive menu. If I remember correctly, there were 6 pages to the menu. That is a lot to choose from, especially if your brain is still asleep in the car. I decided to play it safe and ordered a tuna melt with a cup of coffee. My darling was swayed by the locals, so he got a roast beef on weck sandwich, with fries and a coke. Now I know what you are thinking (if you are not local to western New York, that is), what the heck is weck?! Weck is short for kummelweck, it is a type of roll, not unlike the kaiser roll, that has coarse salt and caraway on the top of it. (thank you Wikipedia) We did have a rather amusing "clash of cultures" moment, when I ordered a seltzer water with lime. Our lovely young waitress just looked at me like I had three and a half heads and asked "what?". After about 5 minutes we all figured out that I wanted soda water with a wedge of lime in it. Also known as "soda with lime". Soda to me, has syrup and flavoring in it, but hey, I was not the local in this situation. All in all this place had it's charms to it. It is no where near 5 stars, but you don't always want that. I would gladly go back,if ever I visit Buffalo again. I recently posted a review of Wiechec's Lounge and I realized that I forgot to post one for Connor's... It's a small old-school buffalo tavern/ginmill style restaurant on Seneca St in West Seneca. The parking lot is on the small side, but I've never had an issue parking there. The inside décor looks like you stepped through a time door back to 1975. I think the wood paneling, tables, lighting and carpets are the original. I've eaten here on fri nights about 3-4 times and each time the service, food and experience was the same and I left satisfied. I will admit that I've never ordered anything but the fish fry but other friends I've gone with have and said the food they ordered was good. The fish fry is large (hang off your plate) haddock filet, the beer batter is light and crispy with a nice flavor, not greasy at all. The sides (french fries, cole slaw, potato salad) are all fresh and taste really good. Sometimes you can get german potato salad with your meal or mac n cheese as a substitute. The menu is your standard buffalo style family restaurant fare, the service is decent and the prices are reasonable. *tip: if you go on a fri night, be prepared to wait for a table... This is not fine upscale dining, but if you're looking for a traditional WNY fish fry on a fri night, or a decent meal during the week and you're in the West Seneca area it's worth stopping in. read more

Food was pretty good and the server was very friendly. However the management was TERRIBLE! I was there with group of people, including a friend who has a service animal - licensed. She was told they don't allow animals, showed the license and that should have been the end of it. However, the one woman, I don't know if she was manager on duty or just one of the wait staff, came up to us after we were seated TWO MORE TIMES to argue with us on behalf of the owner who refused to speak with us directly. It was ridiculous and didn't stop until someone else in our group threatened to call her lawyer. My friend's service animal was quiet and behaved the entire time. I felt bad for the woman that was our actual server, Katie, because she was lovely and the food was good. But the way the situation was handled I would not come back. read more

My introduction to Connor's was in 1967 via a friend when we stopped in for a beef and a beer after a trip to Kissing Bridge. Actually my wife and I haven't been to Connor's in quite a while, not for any bad reason, just lifestyle changes. We will have to make it a point to stop there again. Connor's had gone through owner changes and the inevitable price, portion changes during the more than a decade in which we patronized it almost every Saturday Night, but the overall quality dining experience remained. The homey tavern/dining-room atmosphere was always welcomed as a place to unwind. The Beef on Weck was a favorite as was the Open Steak sandwich and both were enjoyed with great salads. It is a seventeen mile drive from our home and we are looking forward to going again. I will Update this review but I'm sure it will remain very positive. read more

It's great to find another restaurant that will serve hand-carved beef on weck medium-rare. They certainly deliver on the roast beef, it is the equal of Bar-Bill or Schwabl's. My only complaint is that the weck lacked salt and caraway, but if the meat is good, I will overlook that. And the roast beef was very good and plentiful. I could not finish the sandwich. Also, the horseradish was fresh and hot. Spot-on. My wife and I split an order of Cottage Fries, basically a potato sliced thin like a potato chip, but cooked more like french fries, not hard or crispy. The side gravy was probably the most delicious gravy I have ever had at a restaurant. As for the value, I wouldn't call it cheap, but the prices were fair for the quality. I happen to like restaurants that keep that vintage feel. It's very welcoming. We'll be back to try some of the other offerings, but I will add Connor's as one of the top establishments for Beef on Weck. read more

This was my third time trying to give this restaurant a try as it us so close to my home. I have been told by several people that the atmosphere here is not welcoming and i was able to see that first hand today. I walked in and was greeted by three waitresses looking at us We kindly ask them are we able to sit outside they said yes and walked away. We found our way to a table on the patio and after ten minutes were approached by a waitress that took our appetizers order and drinks. Few minutes later water was dropped at our table. The sun started beating on us so we waited patiently for any server or worker to check on us and ask if possible to move inside. The restaurant had three people in it so there was plenty of room. After what seemed to be a long time our stuffed peppers were dropped at our table and we quickly asked "could we move inside?" The waitress replied "ya" leaving us with menus, silverware, purses, masks and our peppers! We grabbed what we could with no help. Once we entered the new table a gentleman came over to advise me that when "moving tables i had to have a mask on" I replied "maybe someone could of helped us and i could of had a chance" we then waited more.. and more.. and our waitress finally came over and apologized for not helping. We paid for our peppers and twenty percent gratuity only to be kind. I will never go back three strikes your out this was the third. Ebenezer is down the road. read more
