I've been here one time a few years ago and it was pretty good but quite expensive. I decided to go again today for a gel pedicure with my friend. We got there and waited 2 minutes for someone to bring me and my friend back. Pleased with the wait time, we were led to 2 seats in the back. I used the restroom before hand and it was very clean. I went to my seat and sat down the water was hot, but, not super hot to which it burned my skin. Shortly after I picked my gel polish, showed my inspiration picture and she started. The lady knicked my toe and kept picking at the cuticles around it, causing discomfort. I then saw a roach near the nail artists kits and seats. 10-15 min later after a very very mild massage, I saw another one, climb underneath the gel light they had as the artist put it down on the floor. (I thought they weren't supposed to do that because of health code violations) When I got up to put my shoes on, my feet were slightly wet and I ended up leaving brown marks on the tile. Which obviously weren't due to my feet(cuz they were just in clean water for 30 minutes) but due to the dirty floor. I tipped well, I hope the lady is well off but I will not be revisiting. Very disappointing. The work was good, just felt rushed and improper, and kinda dirty. TBF I wish I could get at least half of my money back, but I don't want to walk in and demand my cash back and be rude:/ read more

Brought my daughter here for her first salon manicure and I am very disappointed at her experience. The older man that did her manicure used tools that appeared unclean and he was generally rude. I got a pedicure and it turned out great. When the older man rung us up, he charged $74 for a service that was listed in the 'menu' for $60, and said he didn't understand when I asked him why it was more. If the price has changed, update the menu that you provide to clients to choose services, or at least say the price has changed. It gave the vibe of being scammed. read more

I have come to this salon multiple times before and never had an issue. This past time I came in on a Friday at 5:50 pm and they close at 7Pm. I got a new full set and it took 45 minutes. Now that may sound nice but I have never had so many of my nails look this terrible before. 8 of my nails are very crooked. All the nails on my right hand, the nail doesn't even fit on my nail. One nail looks like it's ready for a fill already and one nail looks way over filled. None of my nails look the same shape. I am very upset at the sloppy job done just because of the time I went in. I do not recommend going in within a hour if closing because the quality is terrible. These pictures were taken the next day. read more

This place does a solid job and I appreciate that they stay on time with my appointments. I've rarely had to wait when I have an appointment and to me that's a big deal. The only thing I don't love is that the dip doesn't seem to be the quality I've gotten elsewhere. It chips and cracks within days of getting my nails done. I will never be back. I went at 11 when they opened today and the girl that did my pedicure acted in a huge rush and had my toes done in about 15 minutes. It wasn't relaxing at all. The place is clean and the chair was so comfy but none of that made up for the disappointing pedicure. She did it so quick she had to spend a few minutes with a paint brush going around my nails to clean up the sloppy polish job. They also charge an extra $1.50 when you use a card and don't even mention the charge beforehand. I don't recommend this place. read more

Lady did a great job with my nails and toes. However, i took my daughter to get hers painted with me & she did her toes perfectly fine. Im not concerned how they look or anything(shes 3 almost 4) it was about the experience. Come to this salon because of convenience, very close to my house. Given them many many opportunities and they always fail. I typically am not the one to say or point out poor service I've received, but today was the day! I'm Paying for a service I feel I'm not being unreasonable to expect quality of what I'm paying for! This has been a place where I can get a nice pedicure. Not today, I let the person doing my pedicure know I had an ingrown on one foot, he stared working on it which I'm used to. A girlfriend religiously gets her nails done here and I needed new gel polish so I decided to try Concept. I made sure to go in right when they opened (no appointment) because I've been told they get very busy. I waited ~15 minutes for Julya to finish up another client and I was done in 30 minutes, so fast! Julya took special care around a hangnail and included a hand massage at the end. I've seen many technicians and all have done a great job. They were one of the first to offer chrome and holo nails as well as do complicated acrylic flower decorations. Reading through bad reviews, I really dislike folks that leave a review from one experience. Anyone who gets their nails done frequently knows that they occasionally get nicked or has a badly polished finger. When it comes to consistency, Concept is one of the best. ***This will be a long one*** Today was my second time going and I wish it was better, it just isn't. They seem to be better if you just want something basic, but this is not the place for getting cool designs or anything other than a solid color. It is pretty clean in there, some spots you can tell they don't really clean. The first time I went I got a gel mani &pedi and it came out good. I felt the lady did an especially good job on my toes and she seemed to pay attention to detail which was very appreciated. I don't remember exactly what I paid but it felt fair and transparent. Now today.... That was a different story. It seems from reading some of these other reviews they have a consistent issue with charging arbitrarily. That is what I experienced today. I asked for long square tip acrylics with a nude base, blue/purple iridescent chrome, with a white line design on top with 2 rhinestones one on each middle finger. I showed her pictures as reference. When I asked for the rhinestones I asked her how much rhinestones were and she asked the guy "in charge" and told me $75, I clarified that was the total with the rhinestones, she confirmed. So it started good, it went downhill as soon as she started applying the gel polish. First, when she finished sanding/filling the acrylic she didn't have me go wash my hands so my nails were all dusty and she went right in with the base coat. You can see/feel bumps in many of the nails because of this. Many of the nails also had clumps of acrylic in the corners that left chunks missing from the side. It's avoidable. When she finished putting on the nude polish she took out a chrome powder, I read it, it said " White Chrome". So she put it on a few nails really fast and I stopped her and asked if she had the color I showed her. She didn't really respond, just kept applying it. I stopped her at least 3 times trying to explain that it wasn't the right color, I wanted it to be the blue/purple chrome. She basically said that's what they have. Kinda like waved me off basically. Then she started applying the design, it's not complicated it was just kinda organic lines, she did okay with the shape of the lines but if you look at them the lines are streaky and clear she didn't look twice at many of them. So then she finished with the lines and put the top coat on and did NOT put the rhinestones on. It seemed like she either forgot or was just trying to rush through it. Whatever the case may be I ended up with nails that are not what I asked for with not everything I wanted. So I go to the counter and she still says it was $75 for my full set. Which was not happening , considering that was what I was quoted with rhinestones that she didn't apply and I didn't receive the chrome I asked for. I asked her if she could break the price down for me and instead of doing that she got the guy in charge. The guy came over and basically said that it was $75, I had to pay that. He kinda broke it down a little, he said the chrome was $10, and the design was $15. Which if you add the prices up ( $47+ $10+ $15= $72) it doesn't equal $75 anyways. He also tried to say that she decided not to do the rhinestones because the design I picked was too much for her to do. If that was the case she could've said that and not charge me $15 for a halfa** design. The guy really threw a fit because i wouldn't pay the random price he chose. I ended up leaving paying $65 but I really had to be in a confrontational situation. I wouldn't pay the $10 for the chrome, and really had to stand on that. It was an uncomfortable position to put your customers in. It's not worth it. They need a better system with more transparent pricing. That being said, this seems to be a problem at a lot of nail salons. They could have sign with all of their add on prices, but I have a feeling they make money from not being transparent and charging whatever they like. read more

I have been going to Concept Nails & Spa and didn't think to write up a review until I went somewhere else on a whim. It really made me realize that Concept Nails is my favorite place in Tucson. I admired fantastic purple nails of my server and she told me, these are "Unicorn nails" from Concept. I had to go ASAP and did. I have had excellent customer service from every employee and have a positive experience when I go, no matter what day of the week or time. I like the gel nail application since I wash my hands a dozen or more times a day. I have requested specialty designs and can't recommend them more highly. They are located next to Firehouse Subs off River Road, just south of Orange Grove. Check them out, I think you'll become a loyal fan once you do. read more

Good job on my actual nails but I asked for a manicure with dip so I could have a fresh clean polished finish. Nails came out nice but the guy soaked half my hand in a bowl or acetone because he couldn't be bothered to wrap each finger. When he finished my nails he just dropped cuticle oil on top of my dusty dried out hands still covered in the old residue from what my fingers sat soaking in. Please wrap your clients nails to avoid the mess. read more

When I lived in Marana, this was my go to place. They are always busy, which in my opinion, reflects their continual demand by not just me, but clearly like minded individuals who all love their services. They have many technicians and work pretty fact-paced. I had recently moved to central Tucson and was willing to try a new salon closer to my new location. I went, had THE WORST experience in my life with a friend, and then decided spur of the moment to drive all the way up north to Concept Nails. I knew since we came later in the day that the line would be long and sure enough they were. We were asked to return 2.5 hours later, which I was perfectly fine with. As long as we had a time slot, I'm fine killing time running other errands. Came back and was attended to right away. It had been about half a year since I had come here and they didn't disappoint. For a place that has many technicians, 90% were all familiar faces, which makes me believe even their employees enjoy working there to still be working here after all this time. The individual who worked on me was great, she knew exactly what to do and did it well. I will always come back to this place if I want consistency and accuracy and their prices are great. I was on vacation in Tucson and was looking forward to treating myself to a mani and pedi. I scheduled an appt for a gel/shellac mani and a regular pedi. When I arrived, the place was busy and my mani and pedi didn't start until at least 15 minutes past my scheduled appt. That didn't bother me. My gel mani consisted of painting my nails using "gel" nail polish, but the nails were not cured with UV light. The manicurist applied a base coat, two layers of gel nail polish, and a top coat and waited for my nails to air dry. She told me that she would come back to apply lotion on my hands after my nails were dry, but she never did. She went on to the next customer. Someone later assisted me with my pedicure. The pedicure was a better experience, but not great. I felt like the staff was just focused on getting through their customers instead of providing quality customer service. I walked out with dry hands from my gel mani and toe nails that almost didn't dry completely since the person said I only needed to wait a "few minutes" for my toe nails to dry. The overall work looked okay, but one week later and my fake gel manicure consists of chipped nail polish. I won't be returning. If you are getting a gel manicure, make sure that you're clear about what kind of gel manicure you're getting. read more
