Last week, I gouged the screen of my 2013 13" MacBook Air. I talked to Georgia, and she said to bring it by and they'd get it replaced nice and quick. I dropped my laptop off Monday morning around 10am, and Tuesday at 11am, it was ready for pickup. I picked it up this morning, and the new screen is flawless, I'm so happy that my baby is all better! The service I got was absolutely outstanding. I usually have GelaSkins sticker skins on my laptops - my Air sported a copy of Van Gogh's Starry Night. After I dropped my laptop off, I went to buy a replacement skin, assuming that, since the MBA screen is all one piece, I'd need a new one. To my dismay, the company no longer sells Van Gogh skins. But I didn't need to worry, because the awesome ComputerCare techs gently peeled my skin off the old display and returned it to me with my repaired laptop! I just stuck it back on, and it's like nothing ever happened. Wish I could give them 6 stars, the service has been nothing but exceptional, and the turnaround time was amazingly fast. If I need a machine fixed again I'll definitely take it back here. read more

I brought my Lenovo laptop for a walk-in diagnostic/repair request because my machine was still under warranty. Long story short, the battery would suddenly discharge to critical levels. Their diagnostic is pretty detailed and were able to repeat the problem I had; they then replaced the faulty part and gave it a full test. Turnaround time was about two days and I think they had to order the replacement part. If your equipment is under warranty and is a brand supported by them, you should bring it in for them to check it out. The people I dealt with (front desk, phone) were friendly and informative. read more

I'm not sure what these other reviewers are talking about. My family and I have used computercare for our Lenovo and IBM products for years, and they've always given us top-notch, friendly service. Recently, I brought in a fried IBM and they replaced a part for free with another working part they just had lying around from another computer they'd recently recycled. They obviously made me pay for the service, but it was well worth it to have the computer completely up and running again. They're also the MASTERS of utilizing warranties for products and can often get your product repaired free of charge (as they did when I ended up with water damage from using my computer at the beach where, not surprisingly, the air has more water in it). I can't recommend them enough and never go anywhere else. My guess is that the these other guys work for other companies in the bay (CALLED OUT!). Took my MacBook 2011 as it is a recommended "authorized" repair center by Apple. My laptop crashed after installing the OS High Sierra. And I had no backup of the HD. I had upgraded the RAM about a month before. I didn't tell the receptionist this as I wanted to see the outcome of their diagnostics. When I got the diagnostics report, it stated the RAM was not compatible and needed to be replaced ($240+), the logic board was bad and replacement was needed ($450+) plus labor and taxes - a quote for $900. A brand new MacBook ranges between 1299-1799. I certainly decided I was better off to buy a new laptop and only asked them to create a backup of my files, which they did for $75+tax. I was happy about having a backup of all my files. However, I was not happy with the dishonesty of the business/technicians of this place. I took my laptop to a friend of mine. He was able to reinstall the OS and the laptop is running like brand new with my files on it now. He said that if either the RAM or logic board really were damaged, he wouldn't have been able to reinstall the OS to get the laptop working again. I feel for anyone that has been robbed by this place, so get a second opinion when it comes to PC repairs!! I get that they are in the business to make profit, but they should earn it ethically, not based on false diagnostic results. read more

After 2.5 hours on the phone with apple techs and they STILL weren't able to fix this "problem they had never seen before" it needed to be taken into an apple location. Due to coronavirus apple locations were shut down. So I had to take my daughters MacBook Air into computer care at this location to get fixed. Dave worked on the MacBook and we had some hiccups with apple and my additional apple care plus we bought. Apple was horrible through whole experience. One phone call with Dave and he will have the computer ready. This was such a nightmare! My daughter got behind, but Dave really helped us out and is pretty awesome! Amina, the front desk person had difficult challenges checking computers in because of the new check in process they have due to coronavirus. However, despite the difficulties Amina also was very kind and helpful to me as a super stressed mom i was. Their customer service was excellent! Thank you Dave and Amina! read more

I took my computer in for repair this week and they did a prompt and professional job of fixing it. They ordered the needed part and received it the next day and got it back to me properly repaired in time for the New Year weekend. They were attentive, polite, kind and very competent. They kept me constantly updated on the status of my repair. I'd certainly recommend them to my friends and colleagues and will take my computers back there, if needed. My laptop died Monday...it was under warranty so I go through the hoops to figure out who to give it to. Lenovo points me to these guys. They were close, so I biked over from work. Timeline: I walked in with a laptop that would not start up Monday, dropped it off. Tuesday morning I get a call saying the mainboard needs to be replaced, and the part will be in today. Wednesday morning I get a call saying that the computer is fixed and ready to be picked up. It was fixed, and suffice to say I picked it up. It is still Wednesday as I type this on said laptop. What can I say, they were exceptionally fast, kept me up to date on how things were going, and they fixed the problem. Saying I had a great experience is an understatement. 5'd read more

My Lenovo X-60 Tablet sounded like a nuclear power station lately, until late last week, a message "Fan Error" appeared on my screen. This is an old computer, and I felt lucky I bought the 3 year warranty from Lenovo when I bought it (it expires in June). I went to Computer Care in Palo Alto who checked it within an hour, and told me they need a replacement part. I asked for my computer back, and I got it with a promise they will call me when the part is in. They called the next day (Friday). I could not go there, but did so on Monday. I left the computer there, and within less than 1 hour it was fixed. I am writing this review using it! The service was great, the attitude was great. The fact that I did not need to leave the computer over there for a few days was also great. All in all, great service, under warranty, with a smile. read more

Simply stupid. I made an appointment through Apple website for iPhone 6 battery replacement and came in. I called earlier to make sure they have the battery in stock and she said yes. I came in only to hear that they were out of stock... ended up wasting my time. If they were an Apple-approved provider, they should manage the inventory better. read more

SCAM ALERT!!!! Do not go here to repair anything from Apple!! I went to Apple retail store recently because of a dead pixel on my screen, they said I have to leave my mac there to repair however I couldn't so I told them I'll wait until I have time. The tech and I checked it was only a dead pixel, no damage whatsoever. *NOTE I took pictures of my damage free screen. Then a few days later my screen went dark and I chatted with the Apple team and they recommended me to THIS place for faster repair if I can't leave my laptop with the Apple retail. I went in with my laptop to be dropped off for diagnosis. An hour later received an email saying that my screen is cracked and I will get charged $715. AGAIN my laptop was damage free besides the dead pixel. Long story short I went in with a completely fine laptop only to fix the dead pixel which should be covered under my warranty ONLY to leave with a cracked screen laptop!! OF COURSE I declined the repair! Luckily I went back to Apple and they had record that my laptop was NOT cracked and was able to assist me with the repair. ON TOP OF THAT the repair was only $428 at the Apple retail store. They are trying to SCAM people!! Lesson of the day, NEVER TRUST 3rd party places even if they are authorized!! read more

On vacation in the Bay Area and my phone battery was not holding a charge. ComputerCare saved my vacation by replacing the battery in 30 minutes and fixed my problem very professionally and quickly. Great company! read more

I have sent my MacBook Pro to them twice. The first time, I had the screen stop working. Apple "Genius" told me at the Apple store that it'd be at least $600 to fix, since it was out-of-warranty. Within the first minutes of describing the problem to ComputerCare, they mentioned that there was a video chip recall, and checked that my machine had the defective chip, meaning it could be fixed at NO CHARGE. The second time, they got me a really good deal on a hard drive upgrade, and quickly installed everything. The salesperson there was really responsive, knowledgeable, and "on-the-ball". read more

ComputerCare was wonderful. With all Apple stores closed, Apple Support gave us an appointment with ComputerCare. They quickly solved the problem, were very nice, explained what had happened and what to do if it happens again. Everything is set up for social distancing so no fear of getting the virus from someone working there or another client. I recommend them highly. read more

Bad experience with repair of Lenovo X1 Thinkpad laptop. Screen with a flickering issue had to be replaced. After four weeks they were still not able to obtain the part from Lenovo. Not sure whether this is a Lenovo issue or a Computercare issue. But Computercare's communication was simply sub-par. I recommend you avoid this place for Lenovo repairs. read more

I have had a great experience both times I used this business. First they fixed my laptop screen quickly and inexpensively. And then, when my 89 year old mother's HP deskside computer would not power up, I knew where to take it. The day I brought it in to Computer Care they diagnosed the problem and ordered a new power supply from HP. HP took awhile to deliver the new parts but Computer Care kept me updated and asked for a "rush." They were sympathetic that my mother was so anxious to get back to having email with all her friends and relatives. The day that the parts arrived they jumped on it and fixed the computer. Then they stayed open one half hour past closing time so I could drive over during rush hour and get the fixed computer. WOW! That was impressive. Great customer service! These guys kind of suck; no other way to describe it. A small part (the backlight) broke in my laptop LCD display. After charging me $90 bucks to 'diagnose' the problem (which I did myself!) they said they were only willing to change the whole LCD and it would cost $650, even though the backlight is a $10 part. For a 3 year old laptop this is just crazy. Moreover, when I decided *not* to do the work, getting them to produce a document with a specific diagnosis of the problem so I could bring it to another shop was like pulling teeth, and when I called them back for more details the tech didn't return my call. I ended up bringing the thing to a place called Laptop Rescuer in Santa Clara and they fixed it for $150 (and no ridiculous "diagnosis" fee either). One thing to add - these guys were one of the Fujitsu "authorized" techs, and *all* of the authorized techs in the area said they would only replace the whole LCD and *not* the backlight. Since the part is cheap and easy to replace (it took Laptop Rescuer like an hour, and I got it back same day) either they all got together and decided to rip people off, or its Fujitsu's company policy that techs aren't allowed to replace this part. Either way its a scam - I just don't know if the scam goes all the way up to the top. read more

This review is long overdue - this happened about a year ago. Really nice receptionist, Melissa, sent me updates even when nothing had happened. Experience was downhill from there. Took them a month to figure out my hard drive needed to be replaced. Then they installed windows 7 instead of 8 and argued with me when I pointed it out. Ever since, I've gotten a pop-up every 20 minutes saying my copy of windows isn't genuine. Ok in a pinch, but I'd try somewhere else first. read more

My Lenovo laptop died while abroad, so I looked around for what I could do (it was still under warranty). I opened up a work order with ComputerCare, the closest warranty service that Lenovo sponsors near me, on what was ~Friday noon in California and ~Saturday where I was. My service request was approved in an hour, and I was also quoted the cost if the warranty was void due to liquid damage (not my case). I took it in on the next Monday morning, a day after I got back, at around 11am. It's a very nice place, the receptionist explained how the process would work and that she expected the repair to be done in 3-5 business days, for free. One thing I was concerned about was my hard drive; unfortunately, since the keyboard/power panel was the likely problem, I didn't want to pull up my mSATA drive and perhaps disrupt the repair process. ComputerCare emailed me back in 2 hours (!!) saying that the tech had finished repairs! The only thing I found trouble with was that they had booted the computer and tried to log into a guest account; I don't think that was necessary to fix the problem. But five stars for amazing turnaround and great service. read more

They are authorized apple service center but seems they are lacking in experience for Macbook. I spend $49 for diagnosis and it seems they did not look properly. They wanted me to order a whole new part top part since my trackpad is not working as per expectation. That new part costs more than 350 dollars + 150 their repair cost. so I had to go to another repair shop and they fix my laptop under 200 dollars without a new part. This kind of diagnosis tells inexperience people who is trying to rob you just because you are using a branded PC. read more

They're the bomb! I can't thank them enough for the great amazing customer service. I was in a miserable situation, my iPhone used for work was cracked with nothing displayed while I was traveling oversea. I was out of the phone for extended time. Company IT can't help me other than downgrading my phone from i Phone 6s to i Phone 5. Luckily, I found computer care, that's conveniently located near my work and was able to resolve the problems within a couple of days. These guys were great. Had issues with my out of warranty Toshiba laptop with overheating. I dropped off, and they completed diagnostics and repair for $65 in less than 24 hours. ComptuerCare continues to amaze me. Had a cracked LCD screen and wanted a minimum amount of downtime. Dominique handled with fantastic customer service. She pre-ordered the parts and told me I could bring it in when the part arrived and wait while it was repaired. Very disappointed. While they quickly turned around a laptop disk replacement, they failed to provide service requested: no actually able to transfer over contents of home directory (they said they would be able to transfer the data after evaluating it and the data was recoverable), and not able to put the same Mac OS version on as requested (they said they would put on the same OS). I recognize this is how Apple Care handles a disk replacement: they don't transfer data, and they ship the disk back to Apple. It's a weird policy. But ComputerCare had the ability to transfer the data (I know how to duplicate disks or save off specific folders in the home directory when transferring) and they had the ability to do as asked and put on the SAME OS version as was on the original. Will I go back? No. Do I prefer Apple's own service? Yes. Were they lazy? Yes. Did they write down my instructions when I agreed to the service. I guess not. For that I don't give a passing grade. read more

In recent months, I had various defects on my Lenovo Thinkpad repaired here. It appears that Thinkpads nowadays aren't as reliable anymore, and thus I was glad that I had purchased a 3-year warranty. Thus I didn't have to pay anything--otherwise the repairs would have been very costly I am sure: inter alia, the display and the system board needed to be replaced. Computer Care executed all repairs well and promptly. No data was lost, no additional problems occurred. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and they kept me updated on the status of the repair by phone. I couldn't have asked for more. read more

i called Applecare about my laptop (under warranty) - I needed to have my laptop's disk drive replaced. I returned to Computercare, who had done warranty work for me before! I brought in my laptop at 8am wednesday (no appointments, so being in early meant a tech could look at my laptop), saw the tech. Replacing the disk drive, fixing a keycap (which had fallen off) and replacing facing surrounding the touchpad (the cursor sometimes goes awry). Because I needed my laptop, they were able to order the parts and I would bring my laptop back in when the parts were in(next day). The next day, they called at 11am saying the parts were in, I brought my laptop in. At 2:30pm they called saying everything was fixed! Yay! So far, everything seems fine read more

A couple of years ago we brought in one of our Mac's for a hard drive replacement and data transfer. Not only were they very professional and prompt, my Mac worked even better than before when I got it back. I would highly recommend them. On another note, I wondered about the dearth of easily readable reviews and the 3, 1-stars. It was only when I looked at the filtered reviews that I saw Yelp's blackmail team is hot on it again. Every *filtered* review was either 4 or 5 stars, with the majority being 5. Based on my own experience with Yelp's "salespeople", I'm guessing ComputerCare isn't willing to pay to have their best review's on the front page. Do yourself a favor and actually look at the filtered reviews. read more

They have absolute shit customer service. I called them a day before the appointment was made and they told me the laptop will be ready in 2 days as I went off that because I have many things due and needed my laptop battery to be changed very fast. It ended up taking them a whole week and then they added $150 labor fee without even mentioning it! As yet again since Apple made the appointment for me I thought it would be the same price as Apple which is $129. Overall they end up charging me $323 just to change a laptop battery and takes them a whole entire week to finish. And when I called customer service their solution was to remove my battery and put the old one back after this whole week that I've waited. They're very disappointing and I will never go back to make an appointment with them. Would highly advise just going to an actual Apple store instead of getting charged more than half the price for no reason read more

I work for UC Berkeley and I have used their printer repair services for several years and have been extremely pleased with their prompt response and service upon submitting a work order. Where possible they schedule an onsite examination in1-2 days, diagnose the problem and return with the necessary parts in 1-2 days depending on availability of the parts. Albert Ybarra is a stellar technician who is not only exemplary in his knowledge of printers, but is polite and courteous. I am more than satisfied with the service I have received from them. read more

Computer failures make for unhappy days of lost time. The internal fan in my Thinkpad failed today after several days of noisy complaints, and gave me a "fan error" failure on bootup. I called ComputerCare to see if they could fix and they said yes, but probably would need to order the part. Imagine how happy I was when the technician, Tuan, looked at it, produced a brand new fan, and proceeded to install it quickly and competently as I watched with delight. Everyone I dealt with was pleasant, professional, and, yup, competent. It wasn't cheap, but I knew I couldn't do it myself, and the speediness of the solution was well worth it. I had one of our buiness laptops repaired this week. The receptionist handed me a small note asking for a review on Yelp. When I looked up ComputerCare I saw that they were given one star only. I don't think that is right as I've used them for over 4 years and I never had any problems. I've used other repair shops in the Bay Area, but have found them to do a decent job on all our computers. I like the fact that they now both service Macs and PC as we are using both. Here's my experiences: ThinkPads - we have standardized on these for our business. The quality is slowly deteriorating and we now have a steady stream of repairs. Luckily, we have bought all of them with 3 year warranty and the warranty repair at ComputerCare has always been fast and reliable. In fact, I've given up using Lenovo as the turn around time is horrible. Macs - The few problems we've had was fixed quickly and the first time. Non standard PC - We have a couple of custom built PC for Windows Media Center and specialized servers. Last year one of these developed problems. ComputerCare diagnosed the problem and had the motherboard replaced under warranty! They only charged their minimum fee and I was very pleased. Granted that we use them on a regular basis and they probably know me by now, I'm sure that I'm somtimes given a little bit more attention. Therefore my impression may be a little bit different than the other reviewers. However, I'm a regular customer without any affiliation to the business. I just wanted to provide my opinion as I found the previous rating unfair based upon my experience. read more

About three years ago I had a Toshiba laptop that crashed. Because it was under warranty, Toshiba directed me to take the laptop to Computer Care. That was the best thing that could ever happen to me with regards to computer repair. Sun, the then-technician, was able to save all my data and backed it up onto an external hard drive. My laptop is my livelihood. So you can imagine how grateful I was. Having had the very positive experience at Computer Care, I took my laptop again -- this time a ThinkPad, which Sun recommended I purchase -- when the screen went black. It was fixed within the amount of time they said they would fix it. Roll forward to today, 1/4/11. My ThinkPad displayed a black screen and there was a message regarding "unable to detect operating system." Yikes! I called Computer Care to talk to a technician who could guide me as to what might be going on. I spoke with Tuan. I decided to take the laptop to him so he could take a look at it. He immediately recognized that the hard drive was loose! So he went to his desk and grabbed a screw driver and tightened the screws and, voila!, problem fixed! Minutes prior to that I'd just purchased an external Seagate hard drive just in case I needed to back up my files. He showed me how to use it and "enhanced" my knowledge, let's just put it that way. :) I am just so impressed with Computer Care service. From Adam, the receptionist, to Tuan, the technician. They deserve an A+. Whenever I have gone into Computer Care, I feel that they appreciate and want my business and they will try to do everything they can to keep me satisfied. They understand how important my laptop is to me. They understand to follow through with deadlines. They are very organized. The office is always very, very clean! and....the candy is plentiful! I brought my Macbook Pro here after Apple Genius Bar on University said it would cost me almost $500 to fix. I had the "Black" screen issue on my Macbook pro. I walked in and told the receptionist of my issue. Automatically she responded with..."This is a known issue and we'll take care of it for you. Should be no cost to you due to the recall" Dropped my Mac off on Wednesday and ready for pick up on Friday. No Charge!!!!! I would definitely recommend this "Authorized Apple" repair center. I had a recurring issue with my Lenovo laptop that they were able to troubleshoot, by discovering a hardware issue where I thought I had a software issue. Two previous service providers had not been able to determine the issue. Part of this was covered by maintenance and the non maintenance stuff was very reasonable. They are service oriented and I appreciated the electronic link to my particular case. read more
