I always support locally owned businesses. It's where I go first. So, I chose Computerlink for my iPhone battery replacement. It was not the best experience. I was told by Micah, they would order the battery and give me a call in a couple of weeks. My daughter called 2 1/2 weeks later to check on the status. Tony couldn't find us in their system. He finally found us by the phones serial number. Tony said he would talk to Micah and get back with us. Which he did. Yeah for Tony! But we were still on the waiting list for a battery. You can be the very best computer geek in the world but if you don't have good communication skills, you will lose business. That simply means good communication in the store and follow up. I know it's only a battery today but if I had a good experience I would have recommended the business and used them in the future. I ended up taking the phone to Best Buy and the battery is replaced. Computer link Truly dissapointed me on this go around after $500 in charges and Parts being replaced that I didnt need I finally had to take my macbook to Apple. Computer link had my computer for 3 weeks sent me home with it 3 times saying it was fixed yet the same problem kept arising. These guys are a rip-off. Avoid them. My faithful Mac G5 finally had it's power supply give out after six years of almost nonstop running. It was brought to Computer Link to have the power supply replaced. They did this, but the computer still would not run. Their pathetic technicians didn't know why, but they would need to replace the mother board or processors to find out. $$$$. I said I wasn't blowing hundreds of dollars on a fishing expedition that any qualified tech should have been able to figure out without throwing new parts at the problem. Paid their $60 fee and took my machine home. I took my G5 down to MacDaddy in Modesto who found that the idiots at Computer Link did not replace the offset screws that mount the processor/cooling system to the mother board. Right in the repair manual, it shows that this needs to be done. The guy at MacDaddy did so, and my Mac booted right up. Cost me $26 in parts, and not the hundreds Computer Link was going to charge me. I have tried to contact Computer Link about this, but my email has gone unanswered. AVOID THEM read more

Here's what you need to know: - Left my HP laptop for service on Tuesday and I expected a status update / repair by Friday but I didn't get one. I had to follow-up on my own...boo. There were several machines ahead of mine, but I figured 2 days would be long enough for a diagnosis. Kinda my fault for assuming. - If you come here just make sure to ask how long it'll take for them to check your machine out. - Generally, it's 90 bucks an hour for labor and they won't rip you off. - They do good work, they generally take care of the problem. - Maybe instead of paying 90 bucks to come here, be proactive and spend the 90 bucks on an external drive, they're that cheap now. Because the technology people at my college weren't certified to take apart my macbook pro, they recommended this nearby store. i accidentally spilled a little oil into the keyboard and some of it seeped in, resulting in more effort to get a key to work. I told one of the employees the situation and he told me that i could pick it up tomorrow. Later on, i looked up this store on yelp and immediately had a pang of worry, since I needed my laptop to study for midterms (which were the next week). i immediately went back there the next day to pick it up whether they were done cleaning the keyboard or not. The same employee told me they would call me later in the day, and they did. (so relieved they did) Conclusion: I got my laptop back, and the keyboard looked brand-new. However, it's still kind of hard to type on the left side of the keyboard, so i'm wondering if they really did check under the keys. Other than that, good job "finishing" in one day. Waste of my time. My beats headphones wasn't working so instead of driving to Modesto , I decided to take it here since it was listed on the apple website. My headphones wasn't charging and computer link took the headphones in. It took two weeks to get my headphones back and they still didn't work. It didn't even look like they even did anything to them. Took them to Apple Store and 3 days later my headphones were shipped to my house fixed. I rather drive an hour out than come here . I'm updating this review and subtracting two stars from my verdict because recent developments have led to a change in opinion. My previous review stated that these guys are the best in town for computer repairs. This was two years ago. I can no longer afford to twiddle my thumbs in anticipation of a finished repair. Their technicians are good at what they do and are almost always able to solve the issue I am having. That much is not in dispute. The main problem is the empty lip service regarding when repairs will be done and keeping the consumer up to speed on progress. I am always waiting a week for a simple diagnosis, nevermind the repair, as opposed to the few days promised. And when I call, nothing is done. "Oh, sorry, we were busy. We'll get to it tomorrow." Call tomorrow? "Terribly sorry, our technician is not on site/out sick/attending a bar mitzvah." This is a perfect example of the kind of service you DON'T want to end up paying for even if the job is well done. When you work at home, who's paying the bread for a week's worth of no progress? What are you going to tell your clients? How will your kids type up their homework? That's how I feel taking my device to Computer Link. Always waiting helplessly for indefinite periods of time, hoping they're compelled to get the job done within the next week. Two years of this and I am getting fed up. read more

Seriously, it seems like these guys have a problem communicating with their customers. A week ago I took my laptop in, and asked for a status up date on it ASAP. I seldom write reviews, but wow am I impressed with Computer Link. We are so lucky to have a local Apple certified computer repair shop here in Stockton. My battery was basically dead and it took about a week to fix (I did bring in my laptop kind of late in the week so that's probably why it took a little longer, but that's on me). They replaced the battery + keyboard! Wow it feels like a brand new laptop without the hassle of setting up a new laptop and all that tedious stuff. The repair was about $338 (service + parts) and I did not price check compared to the Apple store, but I'm sure the Apple store would have ripped me off and pressured me into buying a brand new laptop. Would recommend, but to make your life easier, send your laptop when you can afford to take a break. I brought my laptop in when I was done with the semester and made my life very stress free. read more

f I could give zero stars I would, this place is truly nothing but a scam. I dropped off my MacBook 3 almost 4 weeks ago. I was told they'd call later that day, or the next day with a diagnosis. They never called, we had to call them and was told they were "still looking at" and "ordering the part" and they'd call the next day. It went back and forth like this for almost a week before somebody else picked up and told me they hadn't even begun looking at it and he'll get to it in a few days...they finally call back and tell me what they believe is wrong with it, and they can't fix it so they'll sent it to Apple. We were told it was $80 + 20 to ship. We said okay they said they'd ship it, and we could pick it up in a week. A week and half goes by, we call to check the status, it was sitting in the shop still. My MacBook sat in their shop for 3.5 weeks. Before they told me we had to pay upfront, we had been told we could pay when we picked it up. We go to pay for it and they said it'll be $800 to ship the Mac. We picked it up and have decided to go straight to Apple, however they lost my laptop in the back and took 20 minutes to find it. This whole experience has been a nightmare , from the lying to the misplacing my very expensive laptop that I trusted them with. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. read more

These guys did a great job for the two occasions I was in desperate need while attending college. I'm from out of town originally so I didn't know where to go, and these guys were lifesavers. Truthfully, they're probably not the most customer-friendly as far as personal connection or follow-up courtesy calls, but they're nice enough in person and good at what they do anyway! THE BEST SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED FOR APPLE PRODUCTS!!!! Tony was so kind and selfless. He really understood my situation- I would only be home for 5 days for thanksgiving as a college student & I needed my computer fixed before heading back (since having a computer is vital considering it is nearing the end of the quarter). He reassured me that even though I was dropping it off Wednesday morning & that Thursday was a holiday (thanksgiving), I would still get my computer back that Saturday!!! And he kept his word! I was in yesterday after my MacBook Pro had crashed and I couldn't get it to charge or turn on even with a full battery. I had gone to Geek Squad and they had told me that they couldn't help me unless I paid money upfront because I had Apple Care and that it was probably my motherboard that crashed. After calling Apple Care they told me it would be a very long wait for my laptop to even be seen but scheduled me an appointment with Computer Link because they also accept Apple Care under certain circumstances. After the news I was terrified I had lost all my projects I had been working endlessly on and that I wouldn't be able to fix my problem in time for my due dates. A quick phone call to Computer Link was made in hopes they could see me sooner than the Apple Care team scheduled me for and next thing I knew my laptop was fixed at Computer Link. It is clear the associates really care and will actually help you without costing an arm and a leg. With most people working from home it is essential to ensure you have your computer working properly. This business really saved me from major troubles and after my experiences with their competitors I won't even bother calling anyone else because it's a waste of time. read more

Skip this place immediately. Just go to Jim's computer or even Computer Pro's. This place can be good but it charges $60 just to even diagnose (find out) what is wrong with your computer or device. For $30 you can spend 30 minutes with an employee to resolve your issue. Micah was most helpful and explained the steps he was taking in the problem solving process. I had a power issue with my Macbook Pro (2014 model). I did not want to drive 45 minutes to the nearest Apple Store so I chose to look up the nearest Apple Authorized Service Providers and found Computer Link here in Stockton. Front desk service was quick, my laptop was checked in, and I was given a timeline for the repair service. I was assigned a Certified Mac Technician named Tom (Thomas Groom) and his service was excellent. He was knowledgeable, thorough, experienced, and helpful. Even with his packed schedule of repairs and service calls to the bay area, he was able to give me a call to update me on the status of the repair multiple times (he left messages when I could not answer the phone). My computer was repaired quickly and returned to me in a timely manner. I leave 5 stars for Tom's excellence, professionalism, and service. read more

Brought my computer in because the DC jack is loose. I don't know if they *actually* opened my laptop in question because when we got the receipt for repair it said "plugged in universal adapter and it charged fine!!!". They recommended I order a new adapter because they said my old one was loose. We did, and it worked more or less but it still was loose and the charging is INCREDIBLY spotty. They recommended we get a Samsung charger since my laptop is a samsung... And we did. The diagnosis was $60, and the new adapter was ~$25. Bringing the total to $80 alone to fixing this issue in question. It's frustrating using my laptop cause it's more or less the same as when I took it in! The service was incredibly speedy, took it in for a day and the next day I got it back but... Urgh. I would have mind waiting if it meant this issue would be fixed! read more
