Went there looking to recover data on a locked up thumb drive that in my computer would not show up. He looked at and said it would be expensive to recover, about $119/ hr, could take 3 hrs+. I said it's probably not worth it though there was a lot of things there I didn't want to have to "rebuild". He advised me that there might be programs on the internet that could help and to look around. I found one and got Everything recovered, for only $98. and it did take 3 hrs. I respect his honesty rather than trying to "sell me a bill of goods". If anything else comes up I'll be sure to return. read more

I have used this company several times in the past for my PC I always said great things about them and even sent quite a few customers their way.. however when I contacted them about working on my iMac they told me they were able to work on it no problem ...however that was not the case for my apple I was very disappointed and ended up having to take it to a Apple certified repair place. I will no longer be using this company they did not offer any kind of refund for a portion of mistakes made with my iMac.. It was one hot day in good old Stockton yesterday. If I didn't have AC in my little car, my make up would've dripped down to my chinny chin chin. Excited and nervous to pick up my husband's PC, I must have driven down Pershing and March going about 60 mph. Luis greeted me.... greeted me by name, pulled out my monstrosity of a machine and explained everything he performed to bring it to its now perfect, NEW condition. I had a million questions for him... and with genuine smile on his face, even after all of my obscenities (not at him, about the PC)... still calmly answered all of my questions. All I wanted was the 300 gig dual fan, whatever it has, some of the music and as many of the jpeg files recovered. He managed to recover 4004 music files and pictures that I thought were gone forever. Thank goodness he didn't mention all of my embarrassing video files..... wink wink. The Monster (my husband's PC), is like new again... I was able to recover over 8,000 more song files and am now one happy camper. I highly recommend Computer XP. Ask for Luis. I took my laptop to a different repair shop in town before Computer XP, only to be let down over and over again. I think he even misdiagnosed my laptop on my last visit there. I got fed up with their services and the wasted money, so decided to come here instead. Eric helped me out a couple times, once with my laptop, and another with an old deskjet printer that my aunt's business uses. Two separate visits, both with satisfying results. Eric, who is friendly, skilled and knowledgeable, and fantastic at his job, identified the problem right away with my laptop, which was that the keyboard needed to be replaced (because my dumb ass spilled water on it). He made some calls (my laptop's a little older, so he didn't have the part in the back office), found a new keyboard, had it delivered a few days later, and my laptop's been fine since then. The printer, simple problem with the cord, simple solution by replacing it. After comparing my experiences between the two businesses, Computer XP wins by far. My laptop crashed and still wouldn't reboot after getting recovery discs from the manufacturer. I read the reviews and decided to give Computer XP a try. I spoke with Luis, who very helpful and straightforward about the problem. He quoted me a price and stuck to it. The computer had to have Windows rebuilt and reformatted, and it's done well for the past week since I got it back. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Very legit company. they know what they are talking about. the second i dropped my sad broken laptop on the counter Luis knew exactly what kind it was (dont buy HP!) and without missing a beat said "this computer got recalled" (ya. thanks. i know. and it crashed. hence the visit) ;0) he laughed at the thought of charging me $300 to fix the motherboard (which is shot) (totally not worth it) He did take out 'the guts" and check to see if my pictures, etc we salvageable (they are- thank god!) he did that for free. thank luis! very helpful, friendly and I will be making another appearance at Computer XP with my old, even crappier laptop for a "tune-up"...since its def not working on all cylinders. I brought my desktop PC to these guys on February 9th because my CPU fan needed to be replaced and I needed the case to be dusted. I paid them about $30 to order the new CPU fan and was told that it should arrive in a couple of days and that they would call me when the PC was ready. One week later, I hadn't heard from them, so I called to ask if they had any tracking information for the fan that they ordered. I was told "only the owner had access to the tracking information, but I know for SURE that the fan is DEFINITELY on its way and it should be here in a day or two." Another week after my phone call I still had heard nothing from them so I drove over to pick up my PC anyway and deal with the CPU fan and dusting myself. Luckily I did not have to pay for the cost of them babysitting my computer for two weeks, but since the fan I ordered through them had not arrived, I told them to call me as soon as it got there and I would pick it up. I was told "it should arrive tomorrow." At the time of my writing this review it's now April 3rd, two months later, and they still have not called me about the fan and I'm still out about $30. read more

Both my kids received Dell laptops last X-Mas and both of them have crashed within the last month. I hate Windows Vista!! After an automatic update, my oldest daughter's laptop wouldn't boot into Windows. After spending hours messing with it and after discovering that the warranty expired, I took the laptop in to Computer XP. I explained the problem to Luis and he told me that he'd probably have to re-install the operating system but he'd be able to save all of my daughter's pictures, homework and some music. Luis called me mid-morning on Monday and said that it was ready to go. It was $179 to fix the laptop but it was cheaper than having to send it in to Dell and my daughter was going into MySpace withdrawal without her computer =) I swear that Dell programs those damn computers to crash after the warranty expires!! Laptop developed an issue, we took it in, Eric was on duty and quickly took our report on the problem. He called within 2 hours with a diagnosis, and recommended fix for the machine. Don't be fooled by the place..."Computer Xp", I literally thought it was only for PC's or literally XP operating systems (j/k), well not necessarily! :] So...story: Good news: my MacBook Pro had just been replaced w/ a new hard drive by Apple. Bad news: I wasn't able to get my files back. Good news again: They had a very high chance of being gone forever :( OR I can go to a data recovery center (Data Savers what one of the representatives at Apple had recommended) but may cost at the bare minimum my arm and leg... $200+++ to a couple grand. So, at the least: my skinny arm and corn dog leg. I did some research and had found out that Best Buy's Geek Squad service may probably be a better buy/choice considering it is named "best buy." :) Wrong :/ minimum cost... an arm and 2 legs! $249++. At this point, I had already lost quite a bit of hope. Next day I went to school and had remembered there was a computer service place called Windows Xp. I didn't think they would even look at MACs (which they don't apparently when I had asked), but the gentlemen I talked to, Eric, said he can try to recover my information at no charge if it was able to fit on a CD! Unfortunately, I had too much information for even 100 stacks of CDs. In the end, all my important school notes/documents, Britney Spears/RiRi music and doggy pictures were all saved! Eric fixed my PC. Runs like new!!

I took my Toshiba laptop in yesterday to Computer XP, because my computer was turning itself off after 15 minutes of up-time. When I brought the computer in and told them of my complaint. The technician turned the laptop on and listened to it start up. After start-up he thought the problem was caused by dust on the vents of the laptop which caused the computer to overheat and thus shutdown. They took the computer apart and completely cleaned it and now it is working fine. They also told me to get a can of air for the computer to keep it clean. They said this problem is common with high performance laptops. They told me to clean it every two weeks to prevent a dust build-up. Their price was right and I will certainly use them again. I called this place to get a quote for replacing the hard drive in my one n a half year old Dell desktop and the quote to repair was outrageous!! I'm taking it to another repair shop and they are doing it for $140 less!! I do not recommend this repair shop at all! read more

Great customer service. I dropped my laptop on it's side, and totally dented the usb ports. My usb ports became nonfunctional, and my laptop couldn't start anymore. I took it to Computer Xp since they offer a free diagnosis, and heard back in about 2 days. They said me they could fix my startup problems for a price, but can't repair the usb ports since they're soldered into the motherboard, and that fixing a laptop with nonfunctional usb ports isn't worth it. Replacing the motherboard was an option, but he said that'd probably cost more than it's worth also. I agreed, so I took back my laptop and probably selling it for parts. I can't give the full 5 stars since I didn't actually have them make repairs, but for a free diagnostic and an honest opinion, I'd definitely recommend coming here for your tech problems! read more

They offer a free diagnosis to correctly identify the problem, and they are more than willing to give advice and tips to get the best out of your computer experience. Erik is extremely knowledgeable and treats his customers with a lot of respect. I took in my laptop to get the screen replaced on a Saturday afternoon right before they closed and they are closed on Sunday's so I was able to pick it up Monday morning. I ordered my screen from Amazon and they just charged a small fee to put it in. I love it no complaints. read more

I had our church laptop serviced. I will say most of my issues were resolved. I did appreciate the fact that my laptop was personally delivered to me, since it wasn't finished at the time I was told it would be. I had to take it in a couple of times after service was done due to it still not working properly. I had an issue with the laptop not connecting to our projector after it was serviced. I purchased a new projector and still wasn't connecting I finally used my personal laptop and figured out it was the church laptop it wasn't working to its full standard. I called Nabil IT to get someone on site to help resolve the problem. I was told they'd call me back and come that Saturday. Brought my laptop in for a clean up/ tune up end of June 2015 at 10:00 am. Told her also that it ran hot and needed a cleaning inside.The woman said it will be ready the next day.no problem. Less 2 hrs. from when I dropped it off, she called and said it was done. Seems too good right. Yes. Brought it home and noticed some additional programs and files were on the desk top. Didn't think much about it. Within a few days it was still running slow and hot. Would not go back here. Brought it to a different place this past Mon. based on reviews and a recommendation. Mon afternoon they call me to say only the minimum file clean up was done, and it was not dusted or cleaned out. No wonder she finished it in record time. My computer wasn't booting up or powering up at all. Called them and asked if they can deal with my laptop. They said bring it in and they'll take a look at it. I brought it in after the call and they said they'll run some tests and see what's wrong with it. After a few hours they were able to fix it and it's powered up again but for some reason the mouse pad wouldn't work. I was about to give Computer XP 4 stars but then magically it started working again. Computer XP keeps you updated through phone calls and they work efficiently. Let me just say I had a horrible time dealing with this company! My company laptop screen broke and I called to ask how much it would be to repair and they had a fair price I took it in and was told this is going to be a fast job 1/2 days which was great to hear prior to bringing it in my company made me hook it up HDMI to a big screen to make sure everything was functioning and working right (besides the screen) they never bothered to follow up and let me know what the latest was so I had to call and call and get the run around...finally after the fourth day I get a call that there is now (all of a sudden) another part I needed to order because somehow my laptop would not reboot and my track pad wouldn't work without this part so I told them to go ahead and order the part and fix it. I receive a call stating my laptop is finally ready I was so excited after waiting a week for it when I was told otherwise. Once I get there he informs me that my laptop has one problem the trackpad doesn't work. Hmmm I could have swore he stated I needed that part in order for my trackpad to function..I was lied to in my opinion and it's very disappointing they wasted my time and my companies money. I could have asked from my company to just purchase a new laptop,but instead I tried to do right and save money for my company and get screwed by people who pretend to know my PC. Very bad experience I suggest being honest from the beginning with people it's so much more appreciated I feel as tho they did more damage to my laptop then it had. I'm a little computer savvy. But when I come across problems I can't fix I go see the guys at computer XP. They have great prices and do wonderful work. If you have any problems with any type of computer go to them. If you are in need of a computer but don't have a huge budget give them a call or stop by and ask about their used computers they have for sale. Keep in mind their used stock changes all the time. I seriously just made a yelp account to write this review and I am very happy to do so! So one day my laptop decided to turn on, with the blue light and everything except the display on the screen was totally black. After too many struggles with the battery and the power cord , I decided to take it to the OIT at Pacific, who unfortunately weren't allowed to open up my laptop but had recommended Computer XP to me. The last thing that I wanted to do was to take it to a computer shop and be overcharged for their services. But amazingly, Computer XP or Computer Pro doesn't charge anything for a simple diagnostic! I did find out that there was a problem with the motherboard on my laptop and that it would be a high cost to fix it. I either had the personal option of either getting rid of my laptop or buy a new one and deal with all the hassle of transferring data. Even Eric, the one guy who was mainly working on my laptop, even said that it wasn't worth spending so much money for a replacement at first. These guys give you their own and honest opinions without any pressure, which I appreciate a lot. Eric and I did agree that getting the replacement was the best option for me (it was like he was reading my mind when I honestly didn't want to go through the hassles and the extra fees of a new laptop), so I did end up getting the motherboard replacement and I am completely satisfied and grateful! My computer works great now so I definitely recommend these guys not only because of their fast repairs but also because of the kind and honest service that they give to their customers! :) read more
