I was looking for a good computer repair place to go in LA and all the reviews both on Yelp and google pointed to here. They were all right. This place had amazing service and they knew exactly what they were doing and walked you every step of the way in how they were going to fix my laptop. I came in Thursday as I dropped my laptop and it hasn't been working well since. They immediately told me that it is most likely a problem with my hard drive, but would run a FREE diagnostic to make sure that was the problem. I left it with them that day and a couple hours later they confirmed that was the problem. They recommended that I get a 500 GB SSD but with a price of around $300 I could not afford it as a college student. I have them a price range of $150 and they worked with me to get a 500 GB hard drive as I was concerned more about storage over performance. I could tell that these guys take their work seriously and they truly care about repairing your computer/laptop. They are fair and negotiable with their prices, quick with their work, and know exactly what they are doing I would HIGHLY recommend them. read more

The people here are so friendly and nice! I went here to fix my CPU because the pins on the chip were accidentally bent and to my surprise they saved me a lot of money by making them straight so that they could align with the motherboard and turning on my PC again. The only complaint that I have is that they said they updated all my drivers but when I checked, none of my drivers were up to date, which caused my PC to run slower than before. They also reset my BIOS which I'm pretty sure they didn't tell me so I had to overclock my settings again and turn off/ on things like SMT and AMD Cool n' Quiet back to how they were. Very thankful for what they did for me for the price but idk if there was some miscommunication or something but they did not do all that they said they did. read more

These guys deserve to have a solid 5 stars on Yelp, and that is a rare endorsement for me. I brought my laptop in because the battery stopped holding charge. I specifically chose them because of their Yelp rating and I am glad I did. They gave me a few options around quality and price, and I also showed them some wear and tear damage on the hinges from opening and closing the lid a few hundred times. He said he would look at it but did not give me an estimate as he did not know precisely what was wrong. Sparing you the details of how I had already paid some other repair shop north of $100 to fix one of the hinges, I was very surprised when I picked it up and he showed me that the damage had been repaired. At no charge. He said that all they needed (the hinges) were some screws and they went ahead and just did it. Then he proceeded to give me a discount on the original quote for the original work. This folks, is going above and beyond and gaining a customer for life. As long as I live in this area, I will never go anywhere else for this type of service, and I will recommend them to everyone I know when they have this type of problem. I can't express my gratefulness toward them. I assembled my computer myself and after 3 months of working fine, the computer died one day. I had no idea which part went wrong. I took my computer to Computer Doctor and they helped me to figure out that it was the graphic card. After I replace it, the computer is still not working. So i brought my replaced graphic card to them and it was working fine. I was feeling desperate about my computer and brought all accessaries to them and they managed to tell me the one component that caused the problem- the PCI Riser. Today I got my replaced PCI Riser and the computer is finally alive! All the diagnosis from them were free and they were really helpful and attentive throughout the process! Truly exemplary care and service, and very reasonable prices. After I spilled tea on my laptop (and I did everything wrong - tried to turn my computer back on, etc!), I brought it to them and they painstakingly cleaned the inside of the computer and saved my hard drive. When the connection to the monitor couldn't be repaired, they lent me a monitor so that I could still use my laptop until I found a replacement. I can't say enough lovely things about this place. These guys are amazing! I have a custom gaming PC that my brother built for me seven years ago that finally needed a new CPU and motherboard (and CLU fan and compatible memory sticks). I can install graphics cards and memory and the like, but this task was beyond what I wanted to take on. I called these guys, spoke to Victor, got a very reasonable price and time estimate and decided to go with them. I brought my PC and the new components and they got to work. In addition to installing the parts, they: cleaned and organized the interior, repaired multiple broken fans, installed the parts (of course), AND STAYED AFTER HOURS TO GET IT DONE IN ONE DAY (because I REALLY wanted it back today). I've never taken any computer in to get serviced because I always thought it'd be too expensive, so I'd spend hours online trying to research the problem myself, only to get super frustrated and waste a bunch of time. But upon a coworker's recommendation, I checked this place out when my work laptop started doing some wacky stuff. They quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it in a day. I've been back a few more times since then for other laptops, and they always fix my issues right away. And I never feel like they're trying to upsell me or charge me more than necessary, which is easy to do when you have no idea about computers. I have been here 2 times, once my laptop screen was cracked, and they fixed for $170. A second time, my computer would not turn on, They told me they had to take it part and put it back together which would cost $100, if that fixed the problem. Unfortunately, they told me that it was not fixed and did not charge me. I took it as a sign that it was time to get a new computer and so they backed up my data for $65. You know that feeling you get when you consult Yelp prior to going to an unfamiliar business and discover upon going to the business, that all of the reviews are accurate? Well, if you haven't experienced it, Computer Doctors will certainly blow you away! First, I should say these guys don't need my review, because all of their other reviews are also 5 star. Second, I need to state I know my way around a computer repair or two and can handle most things myself. These guys took care of the problem I brought them (one which I couldn't handle) And also took care of a problem i didn't realize I had until I go there (I wouldn't have known what to do about the secondary problem either!) There's no point in me outlining the gory details here, but here it comes... Third, they did all of the work while I waited. In fact, they did most of the work right in front of me. I did not ask them to do this, THEY JUST DID! (YMMV) The only helpful information I can provide is that your GPS navigation may guide you the wrong way (mine incorrectly advised to turn on Smilex) This business is located on the 2nd floor of the strip mall on the South East corner of Virgil Avenue & Silver Lake Boulevard. The same strip mall as the KFC. They exceeded my expectations (even with all of the positive Yelp reviews prior to my experience) I am so impressed, that I have several unfinished non-computer projects, I'm going to let them tackle too. read more

What's that noise? ... The baby was wailing in pain. I knew it could be bad but I kept my poise til the next morning. A phone call and a hour or so later we arrived, were greeted kindly, and had a seat. Apparently the baby had more problems than realized before our arrival. She wasss dyinnnggg in front of me. Tears. My Dell laptop broke with 2 weeks before finals and wouldn't turn on. Naturally, I freaked out, thinking about all the school work that was saved on my hard drive (and stupid me hadn't done a back up in a while, don't be like me!) Anyways, I knew about Best Buy Geek Squad but decided to look on Yelp first and found Computer Doctors. Gave them a call and went in based on Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. I had called around to a few places but Victor appeared the most knowledgeable, helpful and kind. When I went in, that is exactly what they were. The prices they quoted me on the phone was what I got, no tricky business or anything. ($65 for labor of fixing my laptop plus any parts if needed, or $35 for extracting my files). I don't think Best Buy could even match these prices! They gave me phone updates and checked in with me before they did anything. I decided to just extract files given that fixing my laptop needed parts and I got my laptop and files back in 2 days. I am completely satisfied with Computer Doctors. Come here! This place is AMAZING! I have been here twice. My Lenovo was giving me an error message and apparently the hard drive was damaged. I took it to multiple people to check out and they all told me they'd be able to repair it but that my data would be lost. Thankfully I found this place. They were able to fix the problem with the hard drive and back up my data, all for $75. About two months later my laptop started giving me problems with the hard drive once again. This time they were able to repair it for $35. The best part about this place is the customer service. They are very nice and extremely knowledgeable. Victor was very helpful from the start. These guys are fantastic. Everyone is very friendly and attentive. If the guys are busy they let you know that they'll be with you soon, and they are right with you. To me, just being acknowledged when I enter the shop is a big indicator of how service oriented they are. On to the actual computer repair. I have an HP laptop, and I did not buy insurance on it at Best Buy. I thought I could save some money on it, and I'm a student. I always take care of my computers and they last me a long time. Right away I dropped my laptop a couple years ago after I purchased it. It has become more difficult to close recently due to one of the hinges being broken. I took the laptop in and they did a quick estimate, communicated with me my options for repair and we went with one. A week or so later the part came in they repaired the computer by the next day and it is good as new. I will definitely use them again, but I hopefully will not need to any time soon. My moms screen on her Toshiba laptop stopped working. We took it to best buy because that's where she bought it and they said it works but the screen is pure black. So initially she was going to buy a new computer because geek squad told me that it would cost over $300 to repair elsewhere since geek squad does not repair screens. I'm tech savvy. Researched each component and built my own PC, which worked flawlessly for 5-some years. Until it died amidst the smell of burning plastic. UH OH. That's very not good. After inspecting, I couldn't see any damage, but didn't have replacement parts to swap and find out what had died. Computer Doctors offers free diagnostic, which was the perfect solution! I received the kindest and most knowledgeable service from David. Who, after testing every component informed me the motherboard had died and the power supply and memory were faulty. This was accurate to my inclinations as well. I dread to think how much lost money and effort would have been wasted had I tried to diagnose that myself. Bought a new GFX card. NOPE, that wasn't the problem. Try a new PSU...NOPE, still not working. Rinse, repeat. All while I'm excruciatingly out my primary computer. I didn't remember what specs my new motherboard needed to adhere to, but David went above and beyond by e-mailing me suggestions that would work from NewEgg. Amazing. I bought them, brought 'em in, they were installed, and everything's working perfectly now. They even gave my case a thorough cleaning. The amount and cost of labor was reasonable for the effort it took - especially since diagnosing the problem (for free) was even more intensive than the actual fix. I initially felt like a sell-out paying for a service I probably could have done myself, but after it's all said and done, I have ZERO buyer's remorse and am happy to have contributed to such an honorable establishment. I can't say enough good things about these guys. My first experience happened a few months ago: My laptop screen was flickering on and off. I left it with them and they inspected it for free. Only a few hours after drop-off, they called me to tell me what the problem was: The "backlight inverter" was loose. I have no idea what that means, but I told them to fix it, and they did. They said this probably could potentially happen again with my five-year-old laptop, but it's been months since the repair, and so far, no problems. My second experience happened this week: My 500 GB desktop was running out of hard drive space, so I took it in to them. Same deal: Professional, courteous, and reasonably priced. Victor walked me through everything beforehand (though I think Ludin might have actually done the work?). They told me in advance that it would be $200 for them to clone my old drive onto a new 2 TB hard drive. However, as they were doing the install, they realized that my version of Windows Vista was only 32-bit, so the biggest HD mine could take was a 1 TB hard drive. They still gave me the 2 TB hard drive, but partitioned it as 1 TB, and they gave me a discount and only charged me as if it was a 1 TB! Who does that kind of thing? I took in a external hard drive with 700GB of music on it. I was told by another repair facility ( see the review here http://www.yelp.com/biz/los-feliz-hi-tech-los-angeles#hrid:xTxKj54c3hTb09bnSsXJ5Q) that the HD was damaged beyond repair and I wanted to get a second opinion because I did not want to lose all that music. All I wanted was for them to inspect the HD and to see if it can be repaired. They called me two day's later and told me there was no problem with the HD that they were able to view the files. I brought it home and sure enough it worked. So this is what i figured out. 1) They were HONEST 2) The people I was talking to were very nice and respectful 3) They do Free diagnosis. You may want to check with them first. 4) Did I say they were HONEST Over the year's I have had enough problems with computer's that I have learned a little and I'm able to repair them myself but on the occasion that I can't I'll be sure to bring it to CD. PS the hard drive never had a problem it was a software concern and I'm happily listening to my music. read more
