Very happy with the service I received from Victor. My MacBook Pro's battery was completely drained and would only last maybe 30 minutes before shutting off. Well I ordered a new battery and just needed someone to install it for me. Called a bunch of places in/around Echo Park to get the best price. After all these calls not only was Victor the only one that over the phone explained to me the process of proper battery mainenence, but he also provided me with a quote that was half that of everyone else I called ($20 out the door as opposed to $40+ from other businesses). I hung up with Victor, packed up my computer and new battery, and headed straight over. Victor is a very friendly and professional guy in person, just as he was over the phone. Quickly went over the work that was going to be done and promised me back my computer within 3-4 hours due to their current workflow for the day. Well not even an hour and a half later and I get a call back saying my computer is ready for pickup. Go back to get it and it's working perfectly. He even took the time out to explain to me how often I should do a full drain of the battery and even recommended a program to keep track of my battery's lifespan. He even took the time to clean out the computer while it was open and clean my keyboard. Overall I am very, very happy with the service and work performed by Victor. After my computer crashed in the middle of watching a Flight of the Conchords episode, I knew that I had to get it fixed--fast! I picked Computer Doctors because it's close to work, and I am SO HAPPY with the service I received there! Victor really was like a doctor for my poor, sick computer. When I arrived, he led me to a cubicle with a big desk and chair, and we sat down and talked about what was going on. He listened carefully and said, "OK, I'll be taking care of your computer from now on," (just like a really nice doctor or nurse would say before surgery). He assured me that everything was probably fine (a software problem, he thought) and that he would call me the next day. Well, the next day he called me, told me what was wrong (my computer was infected with the MyDoom virus from North Korea!) and he said he would repair everything and reinstall Norton Antivirus. True to his word, the next day, I went to pick up my beloved computer, and it was as good as new! He had cleaned the computer itself and the physical components (he said it was super dusty) and he even gave me a bottle of compressed air to prevent further dust problems. I would add another star if I could. This place really seemed to good to be true, but there are no worries here, it is as good as it gets. Miguel and his team saved my MacBook, and me from ultimate despair. After my Mac crashed and my Time Machine back ups were corrupt, Miguel was STILL able to restore my computer files, setting and appearances to what they were before the tragedy. He also upgraded my RAM and replaced my damaged hard drive (the culprit behind the whole dilemma) and spent 5 long days working on my machine for an incredibly low price - not to mention, the whole time providing many thorough and comforting phone calls along the way. The guys here are amazing. They're honest, fast and thorough. Where else do you hear "I'll run an update right now and I'll call you back in an hour or two to let you know what I've found"? My laptop was down with a few issues with the battery and harddrive and I brought it in to get it fixed. They work with each computer knowing that the customer needs the computer back ASAP, which is great for everyone. They express-ordered the replacement battery for me and replaced my harddrive all within a day. Situation: My Macbook pro was in my suitcase and i dropped my suitcase traveling. Had problems turning on was very worried because all My information was there and i didn't have a backup drive. I went to Apple and they said the hard drive was broken and needed replacement and they were charging me $137 plus they cant and wont retrieve my data stating it was company policy. Seriously as good as it gets. These guys are super-responsive, trouble shooters that get things done fast. After spilling 16 oz of hot, sweetened tea on my computer, other places gave my MacBook a much graver diagnoses, and quoted me about double what Computer Doctors did. These guys handled things calmly and, within a few hours, told me all I needed was a new keyboard. They backed up my data for free and had my laptop up and running in two days for dirt cheap. They listened, offered some ideas, and above all, remained calm and confident despite my believing my computing world had come to an end. They delivered in the time they quoted and returned my PC not only virus-free, but fully cleaned (fan, keyboard and screen), updated (windows, McAffee and browsers), and they even removed the useless security software I installed when I was first self-diagnosing. Long story short: My mac wouldn't let me log in. I called apple. I spoke to one of their tech guys for 45 minutes. No luck. I tried the few tips I know myself to fix it. Again, no luck. I know what you're thinking. All 5 stars for a computer repair place -- a notoriously aggravating service -- that can't be for real! I couldn't believe them myself, but since this place was closest to my house anyway I gave it a try. My laptop would not start up, googling the error suggested a failed hard drive, and I had 3 months worth of data and work on it, none of it backed up because of... long story. Needless to say I was freaking out!!! And I gotta tell you, these guys REALLY do deserve every one of those 5 stars. I've been recommending them left and right! They are super nice and professional, diagnosed and fixed a very obscure problem with my Macbook Pro in 48 hours (which included having to order and receive a part, otherwise I think it would have been even faster). It cost way less than I expected too and the hard drive and data are safe. I'm sure the apple store would have taken over a week and charged me five times more, esp given my desperate state. They are honest, expert, reasonable rates, friendly/courteous, and have a steady stream of customers. We had a thinkpad laptop get the blue-screen-of-death (BSOD). Turned out to be HD failure. They recovered all the data and moved it over to the new HD they installed. They were very good at explaining their diagnosis as it unfolded, explaining what they were planning to do. Stay away from Best Buy, Office Depot, and Staples if you want your computer repaired. Although...if you like paying nearly $100 for just a diagnosis AND waiting at least a week or two for that diagnosis, then go to one of those places. Otherwise, Computer Doctors is the THE place to go! I KNEW that my HP laptop had a simple problem...LCD only worked if the screen was at an angle less than 90 degrees. Do-able but annoying. The office supply/electronic monsters told me it'd pretty much be nearly $100 for the diagnostic and probably $300 to get it fixed..at least...and they'd have to send it somewhere to the Inland Empire because they don't actually fix computers. They tell you they do, but really they just have some dude stand in the computer section to assure you that your computer will be fixed...once they send it somewhere else. I browsed online and found Computer Doctors. They determined the problem, ordered the part, and fixed the problem for less than $150...and it only took a couple days. AND they detected some other issues my laptop was having, and were nice enough to show me places online to address the issues at the lowest cost possible. This place is great. One of the things I love about it is that they will not try to upsell you. I repeat, they will not try to sell you things that you do not need! I initially took my studio's rendering PC to them and explain that I needed it to be upgraded. Luis explained everything that he did to the computer, explained what all that meant, and also explained that one of the things that we had tried to upgrade, wasn't necessary at the time. Instead he recommended that we change something else that would eliminate a lot of the issues that the computer was having. Our company has since reached out to them to become our IT people, and I will update this review in the months coming. Took my computer in last month when it got hit with the Trojan virus, and also had them fix issues I was having with MS Office 2010. Pros: They fixed the problems, stayed within the estimate they gave me, and gave me good maintenance advice (one month later and I've had no issues.) They treated me with respect, not like I was some kind of idiot who did not know how to use a computer. Cons: Irritating parking lot, had to return an hour later to get the computer when they thought it was ready, but it was not quite there yet because it was slow to start. That problem only happened the first couple of times I turned the computer on after they fixed it, though--it's fine now. Victor helped me upgrade my OS, which was a common source of bluescreen errors. However, when I took the laptop home, the problem persisted.
