I was scammed here out of hundreds of dollars by the owner. Came in with random shutoffs for my computer and they said all my parts were bad and old and that I needed to replace it, so I did, including the CPU, motherboard, fan, and power supply. It was a lot of money but I needed it working ASAP so I left it with them. It turns out they replaced my old 3700x CPU with a worse one 5500, so I called and asked them to replace it and give me back my old CPU (which by the way wasn't broken and worked fine). So i returned and the owner Robert said he would replace the CPU and the fan for free over the phone. And when I got there a week later, he said he can't honor that and that he needs to charge me 65 to install the fan (which I tried myself later at home and did it in 10 minutes?????). And then later told me when I came back that it was shutting off randomly, and they couldn't figure out the issue and made me wait the whole day, said it might be the RAM, the motherboard, whatever. Got me to buy extra RAM for $300 and a more expensive ASUS PRO motherboard used for $320 (im thinking they overcharged me for this too cuz these were all used parts). And at the end they seemingly got it to work but my pc was still broken when I got back home. Kept shutting off. They charged me $422.50 for 6.5 hours of labor of after seemingly telling me they can switch out the cpu. At this point theyve grossly overcharged me for literally everything, and never fixed my computer. Made me waste the whole day sitting and waiting, and I have a feeling either they don't know what they're doing or they will inflate and complicate stuff to suck more money out of you. I needed my pc working so I opened it back up and fixed it myself. It really wasn't as hard as they were claiming. I replaced the cpu with the old one they tried to keep saying it was broken and it was working. It literally didn't take more than an hour. They are predatory scammers and they will inflate the job so they can get more money out of you. I have asked for a refund because the repairs werent done. I haven't heard back. I will never return to this predatory scamming shop. read more

We showed up a little under two hours before closing and asked if there was any chance they could get everything done that same day because we had big gaming plans that night! The staff was VERY patient and took the time to sit down with us, understand what was going on, and make honest, helpful recommendations. We arrived a little under two hours before closing and asked if it would be possible for the repairs to be done the same day (since we were hoping to use our PCs that night). Even with limited time and lots of other customers coming in, they made sure we were fully taken care of. They even stayed almost an hour after closing just to finish things up and make sure everything was running smoothly- at no extra charge. Everyone was super friendly and very helpful. They also cleaned out all the dust inside our PCs which was a nice bonus. After the repairs, both PCs have improved SO MUCH! Both are faster and running way more smoothly. I have serious doubts anyone will read this but I will follow up for personal closure reasons. After doing a charge back for the two credit card transactions I had with them, they never responded which ultimately led me to winning. My situation is a bit unique as I have technical knowledge to fix it but just wasn't a place in my life to deal with heavy laden frustrations was why I ended up here. That and not knowing specialized service I needed existed until I needed them. I feel sorry for anyone who really needs their computer fixed and establishments like this with brain-dead idiots who populate them exist to "fix" their problem. I did end up fixing the computer myself. None of the services I inquired were useful and/or more that I would like to spend on this fix. I found out that there are a few places online that you can send your broken CPU/GPU to and will fix it and test it for a nominal fee. I won't post who they are because Yelp seems to flag reviews if you post any link, no matter how innocent and well intention you are with it. This ended up being a few weeks nightmare I would never want to experience ever again. read more

I would like to recommend them to anyone who needs computer repairs. The work was done professionally and I had the computer back the next day. Works perfect again! Needed to get a cpu cooler installed on a dell pre build and other coolers weren't fitting with the hardware provided so sthey let me search through their screws and I found the exact parts I needed. Not only that they just let me have them and hooked me up with a fan so I could get better cooling in general. My new go to spot!! read more

I built my computer but it had an error. They charged couple hundred for the issue. Because of the ridiculous price, I tried to walk out but the short employee there stopped me and tried to bargain. I accepted the offer because he lowered the price by around 50 bucks. Couple days later, they call to raise the price because it was taking longer than expected. They basically said they were unsure about the problem so they were going to dissemble the whole thing. Another couple days later, it turns out one of the fan cables was in the wrong port. Not only are they incompetent, their prices are unreasonable. Their business ethics are predatory because they threaten to return the product after I already waited couple days if I don't agree to the price increase. P.s. they didn't even clean up the cables. If you speak English, just go to Micro Center or Best Buy. This place is a scam for Korean elderly people. read more

Instead of powering on, my laptop suddenly went to the darkside... the dreaded "black screen of death." Why does it always happen when u least expect it + when you haven't back it up since, uh, what year is it?? These nice guys worked a quick miracle for me when I thought all hope (and data) was lost. DO NOT COME HERE. The president of this place is embarrassing. He talks way too much! I came here to get my gaming PC built. We got there and he took an hour explaining the parts that I already did my research on. He charges way too much and says the most unnecessary things that I already understood. He kept trying to get me to buy things that I did not need. The younger people there are so nice, but the older president of the place is so exhausting to talk to. It took 5 hours for them to build and when I sent a taxi to go pick it up he would not give it to us! The taxi guy sat for an hour trying to get the PC that we bought. I have built multiple PCs before and went to visit this shop for a motherboard bios update that required an older Ryzen CPU that I did not have laying around. I went in and was helped by Robert who while not specializing in Ryzen based systems did an amazing job in helping me getting my build up and running. He spoke in great detail about many of the pc components and while I already knew what my issue was and what needed to be done but I still appreciated how he kept me well updated and explained everything he was doing to my pc to help fix my problem! I even spoke to him about building a different PC for my sibling and he said he would sell me an older CPU that I wanted for less than market listing. As someone who had mostly just dealt with GeekSquad and larger tech companies, this ended up being a way better experience than I imagined! read more

I needed to have my Macbook battery changed and it took about a week. When I finally got it back the trackpad would not click so therefore I cannot drag items anymore. They broke it. The trackpad had no issues whatsoever when I first gave it to them. We told them about this issue and went back to see what was wrong and how to fix it. Their first words were well the battery works. They could not figure out what the issue was at first but later on they said that the motor could be the problem. Asked us to pay to get that fixed too when they were the ones who broke it. read more

Rude front desk workers welcome you with a frown. These people truly are a real-life material for the parody of IT nerds on Saturday Night Live. I suspect that the "customer service " department is having a contest to see who can be the rudest. I dropped off my old computer with an external drive to see if anything can be recovered. It has been at least 4 months now. I have called 3 times and each time the operator was incredibly put-out for having to answer my call, one guy very rudely interrupted me repeatedly. I went into the shop once to see what the latest was and the front desk people never made eye contact and acted very unprofessionally. I recommend Unitek, they are much friendlier. There is no reason to consistently bite the hand that feeds you. I would not reward this behavior when there are so many good shops to go to. read more

Dropped my laptop I've had for 4 years. Broke the hinge and it was not the same. Looked and looked for someone to repair it at a LOW price. I know repairing computers can be a bit pricey, it's technical work, but This place was ridiculous. I wanted to keep this laptop, everything was fine until I dropped it. It did run a bit slow due to age, but so what. Came here, nice people. Explained the problem, he gave options, and quickly quoted his price. $65 an hour. I was a fool, I agreed. Long story short, 3 weeks later, two new touch screen replacements (outta my pocket) problem still not solved. In fact, new problems arose. I saw he really didn't know what he was doing at this point, or like my daughter said, "he may have messed things up even more, and is afraid to admit". I agreed. After paying $162 to this scam artist, I walked outta there still a broken laptop, and later realized he never returned my original broken touch screen. Never call me about it either. I did some deep research, and went with another company who specializes in my laptop's brand. Not only did they fix the problem (quick) but upgraded it, and replaced my old battery. I paid for the parts, but for all of that work, I paid them a flat rate of only $100. Laptop is working again...and better! And, it was shipped all the way to their facility in Texas safely, to and fro. Now THAT'S good business...NOT this place. read more

I was visiting LA from out of town and my work laptop blue screened. I tried to get my IT help desk to help me but it was completely hopeless trying to do anything remotely. I stumbled upon Computer Ahnex randomly (went to lunch at a nearby restaurant) and decided to take my laptop in to see if there was anything they could do. The service manager was amazing. He spent hours working with my help desk to re-image my laptop and reload/configure all of my work programs and apps. He also replaced my battery which basically stopped charging. I'm not that technical so I feel completely blessed to have found this place randomly. I am not from LA but would HIGHLY recommend this place. It's too bad the last reviewer had a bad experience. I've been to Computer Ahnex few times lately for multiple issues & upgrades on my little netbook computer. The technicians are not necessarily friendly (would be nicer), but all of them seem to be very experienced and knowledgeable of their work. I was talking to few of them during my visit and found out this shop has been servicing about 25 years or more!?!! Wow~ They had some good offers on used & new computers, too if I wanted to buy them. The price they charged me for labor & part seems to be very reasonable. Actually I know I got a good deal by coming here rather than other places. Computers, parts, & labors can be more expensive than the computer itself!! @.@;; So I'm glad. My netbook is not a superior quality, but they made some improvements on it. The parking lot is very tight, and there are valet guys trying to pull you. But if you tell them you're going to the computer shop, they will let you park without a charge for 15-30 mins. read more

They were very clear with what was wrong with my laptop (I spilled water on it and killed the motherboard) and made sure I knew what they were going to do before I payed. If a repair does not have a high chance of fixing the computer they will let you know and advise against it instead of just taking your money. Because of this we found an alternative and replaced some hardware in an old, broken laptop instead of attempting an ill-fated repair on the one I brought in. Owner called me and told I should replace the usb flash drive since the old one was having an issue, offered me a 32GB flash drive for a 13.99 and I said okay (I know it's not a fair price but whatever extra $6 I just assumed it was for their labor(????) fee). After the call I came to pick up an item and he told me the extra charge (flash drive) was $19.99, I asked him 3 times, and he said oh it's $15.... I was busy and didn't wanted to fight so gave him the $15 in cash and he brought a receipt that he charged me $13.99 WTF???? So basically he charged me more than what he reported on the paper. Such a scam, I chose this place since it was in K-town but wtf did not expect Fraud. Never going back, next time I loose my data, I'll just forget it or either just buy the premium program-for $89.99!!!! Not going to pay more than what they've promised!!!! read more
